Howell's Heating & Air

Everything goes excellent every time they come out. I have been using them for many years. I pay a one time fee for them to come out twice a year.

First contact with Richard by phone was professional and set the tone for an excellent experience. Rich arranged for Matt Ferreira to meet at the house and prepare a proposal. We were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism, and he prepared a clear and understandable proposal. Price was competitive with other bids we had received. Howell's is an employee-owned company with employees who have been there many years. This adds to the stability factor and quality of experience. He promised to arrange installation within a week of our "ok". After comparing 6 other offers, we selected and notified Howell's. Matt called back and arranged installation for 3 business days in the future which was perfect. On the appointed day at 7:55am the installation team arrived (they were scheduled for 8am), introduced themselves as Bo and James, and got to work, first laying work cloths over the floors and carpet to the attic, then working on removal of the inside and outside units. Freon lines were drained, new unit was put in place, and an electrician arrived to do the wiring hookup. Upstairs air handler was installed, old one removed, and the job was completed by early afternoon. The new programmable thermostat was the last thing installed and Bo explained how to set it. He checked to make sure the system was cooling properly (on an 87degree humid day the temp dropped 5 degrees in the first 15 minutes - it worked just fine). We finished the paperwork and they cleaned up and left. On all points our interface with everyone from Howell's was positive. From the point of professionalism, friendliness, punctuality, cleanliness, efficiency they earned 5 stars. There were other less expensive proposals using other equipment and other companies, but we believe this equipment and this installation team gave us the best total value.

Our experience with Howell?s has been awesome. From the first contact requesting information, to setting up an appointment with Steve for a system comparison review and load estimate, to the completed installation of the system, it was seamless. We could not have asked for better service in all respects and we are extremely pleased and satisfied with our new system and its performance. The office personnel were always quick to answer all of our questions and every message was forwarded to the proper contact person. Our calls were always returned promptly with the information we requested. C. L. and Wayne installed our system on the day the work was scheduled. They were on time and did a complete and thorough job. C.L. explained exactly what was being done and showed us the proper way to operate our new system. Except for the new unit you would not have known they had been in the house. I would not hesitate to recommend Howell?s to anyone. They are outstanding in all respects and I could not be happier with our new systems and the service we receive.

Came on time and fixed the problem right away. Gave good advice on how to handle any future problems.

We do recommend Howell's initially we chose because of their high Angie's list rating. And they lived up to their high marks.

I called this company because their name is on my HVAC system in my home. I figured they would be the best to go to for what I need. I set up an appointment for a consultation to get by hvac ducts rerouted in the very small room that I am trying to fit a washer and dryer into. The guy comes out, takes all these measurements, tells me he needs to know the measurement of the washer and dryer I am trying to put into the room. I go that weekend, get measurements, email the hvac guy the measurements. He emails me back saying he took the measurements off the unit I currently have in the room so he asked that I send him the measurements of that unit. I go get the measurements and then email them back to him. 3 days and 2 emails later I have still heard nothing back. So I call the company back and they have the man call me. He says that he still does not know if it can be done and I need to first purchase the unit and then he can tell me if it will fit. On top of that, it will cost over $100 for him to come out and consult in addition to the actual work, assuming he can actually do it. He then told me Lowe's could probably do it. They don't seem to want my business.

quality worMy 24yr, old geothermal heat pump stopped working morning of 2-8-13. Compressor would kick the panel breaker when it tried to turn on to heat. Could reset breaker & run the fan only to circulate my gas fireplace heat. I began calling around 11:00am, contacted (2) other "A" rated on Angie's, one could not arrive before late evening & the other G*****n left me on hold for 10min. so I hung up & called Howell's. Said they could have a Tech here around 4:00pm, scheduled the appointment & the Tech (Adam) arrived early around 3:30pm +++. The dispatcher (Angela) had warned me it could take a couple of days to get a new compressor if it was bad as there are too many models/options to keep everything in stock. Adam quickly diagnosed it was a burnt compressor wire at it's connection. Adam said the connection could have loosened over the years (piston compressor replace with scroll type in 1995), but he was not satisfied "that" was the only problem to prevent a near future service call. He was VERY thorough in checking my other system components & readings. Found my capacitor was 35amp. & should be 60-65amp. for the installed scroll compressor. Also, the gauges installed on my heat pump system were reading not as preferred. Re-calibrated gauges to match his. Fair prices & quality work! Don't hesitate to give Howell's a call.

Howell's was professional and punctual from start to finish. Theirs was the best value compared to two other estimates. We also liked that Howell's did not try to "gold-plate" the job by pushing us to do additional work or add additional features such as a humidifier. They were also the only company offering a financing option. When the day came for the work to be done, they showed up on time at 8 a.m. and were finished by 2 p.m., including a lunch break. This is the third system we have bought from Howell's, and we'll definitely work with them again.

Technician was on time, helpful--Fixed problem for now!

The Howell's technician arrived on time. He was very professional and knowledgeable about our somewhat elderly system. He conducted a thorough inspection and servicing of the system in a reasonable amount of time and provided a good report on the status of the system.

The original water heater placed when house was built 20 years ago began leaking. I called Howell's that evening and left a message. Witt followed up and called at 7:30am. Howell's had arrangements made to replace and were waiting until 8:00am to call me! Large volume water heater had to be walked up 3 flights of steps after removing original gas heater. Space was tight, but worked 1 whole day to complete the job with no additional cost over original estimate. The professionalism was excellent. Everyone I have dealt with at Howell's is always pleasant. I have used this company for my heating/cooling for over 15 years. They will come day or night for urgencies or emergencies and have always stood by their work. Wonderful!

Excellant service, arrived as promised, worked quickly, explained what was done and even reminded me that their was a $20.00 off coupon. Very proffessional. We will be using them to service our existing unit and to replace when needed. Highly recommend their services.

Checked old one for problem. Was shot - gave me choices of new equipment - once I chose, installed & removed old equipment in 5 days. Cleaned up & left cleaned than at start.

I want to start by saying first of all, when I called this company, the customer service was excellent. They listened to what my needs were so they could refer me to the correct division. Not only did my service personnel reach our rental property on time, he was early and the tenant allowed him to come in. While I was on my way, and I was on time to meet him there, our furnace repairer called me, told me what was wrong, quoted a price for my approval, and had almost finished the repair by the time I got there. He was amazing and skilled. I liked this company so much that my husband and I are going to do a contract with them..

They’ve done a good job every time they’ve been out here. They do what they say they will do, and we’ve had no problems.
