Howell's Heating & Air

Disreputable and will not stand behind their products or services. They said I needed new line sets. Did a hideous line set install and wasted a bunch of my time trying to get it right. Customer service was atrocious. They are unwilling to work to resolve their mistakes and make things right. Never use this company. Needless to say, I still need to find a company to fix Howells non-working trash job. Trash, Howells, trash.

Howells got me a dame day appointment, technician was very knowledgeable-fixed the problem while explaining to me what was wrong. I have had a long term contract with howells for several years now. Highly recommend these guys!!

Howell’s was very thorough in evaluating our needs and current issues to right size the equipment without being too much of a sales pitch. Rob L. was excellent and did not try to upsell us on equipment we did not need and explained the “why” behind the suggested approach. The price quote was very competitive and clearly broken out. Some other bids simply quoted us on replacement equipment for our current setup without assessing current problems. The installation of upstairs and downstairs equipment (furnaces, air handlers, heat pump, A/C) could not have gone better over just two days for several reasons: • Rob (sales) walked through the house and job overview with the install supervisor beforehand. • Install techs were friendly, on time, and ready to get to work. At the end of the first day they staged all their equipment for the next day. • All areas of the house were kept clean and tidy. • Rob (sales) came back at the end of the job to inspect everything, answer questions, and make sure we were satisfied. The attention to detail on the installation was impressive, even for equipment that most people will never see. They even took the time to write the install date and job number on all the equipment in the attic and crawlspace. We’re very pleased and would highly recommend and use Howell’s again.

They're fine. My husband wasn't upset about the price. The quality is good. They were on time.

Howell's always calls to schedule the appointment. If something does go wrong they come out for free and they offer a discount on parts. If there's an emergency they are able to get out quickly. The service technicians are very friendly and make sure to keep the area they'e working in clean. They also take their time to educate you on any issues and the importance of maintaining your system.

The existing air conditioners on my home were on their last legs (lots of freon leaks & frozen motors near the end of their 15 year lifespan). I contacted Howell's heating & air for a new system quote. Response to have an estimator come out and take a look was great. Got the quote a few days later and they were cheaper than 2 other local installers. The install went very well. HVAC guys wore booties to cover their shoes and not mess up my hardwood floors. The workmanship was great and the 2 guys that did the work weren't rushing to get everything done. They took the time to do the job right. Some minor punch list items needed to be taken care of after the county inspector looked at it, but they took care of everything and overall did a great job. Got a free 1 year service visit and the technician was courteous and knowledgeable about everything. Highly recommended for new system installation.

The house inspector of the house I'm buying found some concerns with the HVAC system. In addition, there was a noticeable temperature difference between the 2nd and 3rd floor. Another HVAC company had given me quotes for a ductless system to use on the 3rd floor. Originally there was a scheduling snafu where the seller didn't know we were coming so we had to reschedule. John was not at all perturbed. He gave me his card and said I could call the main office and request him to reschedule for the following week which I did. He arrived early and had already started looking at the outside units when I got there. The outside units were filthy and he gave them a very good cleaning. His inspection was very thorough. He did not share the same concerns as the inspector, explaining how his measurements of the temperature differential are more accurate than what inspectors typically do. I was fully expecting a quote for a ductless unit for the 3rd floor and was pleasantly surprised when he suggested adjusting the dampers to level out the temperatures between the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor. He explained I'd need one setting for the summer and another for the winter (since hot air rises). He said if the damper adjustments did not work I could then consider a ductless unit but he did not think there was any urgency to buy one now. John spent a good two hours at the house and I felt the price was fair. He was professional and patiently answered all of my realtor's questions. I have a maintenance contract with Howell's at my current house that I will transfer to the new house. It's been my experience with each of Howell's technicians I have dealt with through the maintenance contract (including Brad, Dennis, and Matt) that they look out for the customer and do not try to sell you equipment or services you don't really need. Very pleased and have recommended Howell's to others.

I told them that I needed a new motor and gave them the dimensions and asked them to bring one, so they did. He did not charge me to diagnose the problem since I had already done that. They did come out quickly and I was pleased. The guy was very nice and logical and did a thorough job of checking everything out. I don’t have anything to compare them to.

We have a service contract with them to check our system twice a year. They did routine service on the heat pump and gas furnace and associated equipment. I liked them quite well.

All went well and all the requested items in addition to the maintenance were performed. Tech kept us informed about the work and identified no issues. Signed up with Howell's as our last maintenance contractor had an attitude and things seem to break after the maintenance activities.

There was something wrong with the first unit that they installed but they came back and fixed the unit. They sent someone with a lot of experience to troubleshoot the problems. They worked on the system and he definitely knew what he was doing. We haven't had no problem.

They did a great job! Very prompt and professional from estimate through install! We got several estimates and felt that Howells could provide the best service long term for our a/c needs. Our old unit even died on Friday before our Monday new install. I called and they came out that morning to fix so we had air for the hot summer weekend at no extra charge. Highly recommend!

Recently Brad the service technician came to our house to perform the semi annual maintenance on our heat/ac unit. What I like about Howell's is they call plenty of time in advance to work to your schedule. Brad arrived as scheduled, wore foot covers when entering the house and checked the temp coming out of the registers as well as changed the furnace filter for us. Our unit is an outdoor unit and when it came time to clean off some his tools he had used on our unit he even went under our house in the crawlspace and turned the water hose bib on for us for the summer. This was a tremendous help since my husband has physical health issues and is not able to do this any longer. I cannot thank him enough for doing this for me as I would have had to ask a neighbor. This company is professional, on time and recommends any future service they see might be needed on our unit to prevent problems arising unexpectedly. I would recommend Howell's to anyone! My heat pump has been coding into emergency heat mode at an unusual frequency which caused my electrical bill to double. This started in 2011. I had 2 service providers come out on 4 different occasions to correct the problem. The said I needed a replacement part, that although under warranty the service was going to cost me $900. Both service providers told me the same thing. I mentioned it to the serviceman from Howell and he said that it could not be that because it would cause an issue with the air conditioning as well as the heating. He changed a jumper that was causing my unit to move into defrost to quickly. My unit has been running quieter and my electric bill is back to normal. Not only was the service better, but it was the same as what I paid the other two companies each time they came out.
