Provider was prompt and professional. As a courtesy, while workers trimmed tree, he used leaf blower to blow leaves in our yard so that they would be easier to remove. Nice!

Everything was great. Thomas was really good about communicating with me as I tried to organize DC permits and his availability to get him in. He showed up for an estimate earlier than I had expected and was really good about scheduling. As for the service itself, it was great. Thomas showed up in the morning when scheduled and he and his crew got our whole tree down before lunch. They cleaned up afterwards and, actually, left things even cleaner than when they had arrived. The plants directly under the tree took a bit of a beating, but Thomas warned me about that and the damage was relatively minor. I thought the fee was pretty reasonable too, compared to other quotes I'd gotten. Really excellent service, very friendly and personable guy. Would absolutely use again.

Thomas came by and gave me an estimate on all that we could do (at my request). He priced each portion separately, and provided his thoughts on which were most pressing. All just as I requested. After initial trouble connecting (a family emergency, I believe) he was very responsive and accommodating. Cleaned up thoroughly after themselves - my yard just looked improved, rather than sheared. Just what I wanted. Not sure whether this was a good price or not - but it seemed fair. We didn't do all the work that we could have used (too painful to spend more on things I should probably do myself). But, I would go back to them in the future (once I admit I am not doing these other things myself :-).)

Very well and very professional. The provider made the trees look normal which is exactly what I had hoped for as they were overgrown and out of control.

It went very quickly. They did what I had asked them to do and did it professionally. I would use them again, for sure.

Thomas called me this afternoon to let me know he was at my house to take care of the tree. He is very knowledgeable about the different kinds of trees. He did an excellent job in trimming the tree. It looks really nice. All the debris from the tree was cleaned up. I could not tell that they had even been there. I definitely will recommend Heart of Wood to my friends. I will definitely use them for future jobs.

I'm very happy with the work that Thomas and his crew performed on my two trees! Originally I thought that I needed 3 trees trimmed, but I wasn't sure so I wanted a professional opinion (I purchased an Angie's List deal: $199 for $400 worth of tree service). Thomas came out quickly and assessed all 3 trees. He explained that one needed to be trimmed away from the house, one was fine as-is, and the third was actually rotting and should be removed soon. At my request, he also (for free) looked at trees on neighboring properties to check for potential problems (weak limbs that could fall on my house, etc). The quote for trimming one tree, and removing the second tree and stump was very reasonable compared to other estimates I had gotten. Thomas was great about answering my [many] questions. I'm happy that he didn't try to "oversell" me; he was honest about the other tree not needing any work, and he gave me a time frame estimate for how long he thought my Maple tree would last. I decided to get the work done, and Thomas and his crew arrived on time. When they finished, my yard looked much cleaner and nicer than it looked before they even arrived. I've actually already given The Heart of Wood's information to three neighbors. I highly recommend them.

I had difficulty contacting the firm. When I did contact them they had difficulty scheduling time to do the work and the job was never done.

The estimate was informative, he took the time to help us learn about tree care as new home owners. Scheduling was a little problematic because of break-downs with equipment. The service was carried out quickly and the crew did a great job cleaning up after themselves.

We were very pleased with Heart of Wood! We felt the price was fair, and the customer service was excellent. The workers always took great care, and were very conscientious in making sure everything was done properly. We highly recommend this company, and would gladly use them again in the future.

I have put off getting very prominent Japanese maples in my yard pruned because I didn'twant them mangled. These trees are the focal point of my landscaping. After reading Heart of Wood's reviews, I finally felt willing to turn these trees over to pros. Heart of Wood did a beautifully artistic job of perfectly pruning and shaping my trees. They now look more beautiful (and healthy!) than ever and I will rely on them from here out.

Overall, I was very, very happy. We had a couple communication delays due to summer vacations, but they were minor overall and Thomas apologized as soon as he got in touch. During the walkthrough for the estimate, he gave in-depth explanations for why he would recommend trimming or not trimming a particular tree/branch. His recommendations and price lined up almost exactly with that of a second company we'd received an estimate from. But we went with Heart of Wood because of the quality of information given at the estimate and Thomas' very personal approach. When the work happened, the guys came right on time and finished early to beat a huge thunderstorm rolling in. When I got home after they left, the entire work area looked great - along the street, front yard, and backyard. There were two items I did have questions about. I spoke to Thomas on the phone. He came out the next day to take a look, explaining why one item looked the way it did and agreeing that his folks needed to come back out and fix the second item. They did that in very short order. Heart of Wood is a very conscientious company that does good work with competitive pricing and a personal approach.

He gave me an estimate for each tree (I had 1 dead tree and several sick trees). I opted to just get the dead tree cut for now but it was good to know the cost for the others so I can budget for that in the future. I'll probably call this place back in a few months when I'm ready to get the other trees removed.

Provider was extremely responsive and communicated very well. They came out immeidately and did the work within two days. I wish it was this easy to work with all providers!

They came to do an estimate first. He came back with two workers to remove the limbs. They left the yard cleaner than when they came. They knew exactly how to do their work. They did it in less than three hours and exceeded my expectations. They were very nice guys and were very professional. The price was very reasonable and fair.

Thomas was incredibly knowledgeable, punctual, and did a great job cleaning up before the job was considered finished. Heartily recommend.

The owner Thomas was very friendly and professional, and his men did a GREAT job of trimming and cutting back a large oak tree in my front yard. This oak tree is extremely tall and was FULL of excess limbs and branches (including DEAD ones!) and leaves having not been trimmed in over 10 years! The tree had no shape whatsoever, but after the work was complete, it looked BEAUTIFUL! I could not be happier with THE HEART OF WOOD tree service and HIGHLY recommend this company to others.

They informed me of the costs and recommended the Angielist current offer of $250 for $400 worth of work. They were even nice enough to try to fit me in on short notice due to my upcoming travel schedule. The level of communication was great via phone calls and texts. It was great to work with a company that understands modern communication isn't only 8 to 5 with missed calls and voicemails. The day of was pleasant as well. The team arrived and we walked thru the plan. I was able to continue working and taking conference calls over the roughly 4 hours it too to complete. Whenever they reached a point they were unsure of or thought they might be finished we all took a look from both the ground level and out of my windows. After it was over we talked about things to watch out for and general maintenance for this type of tree. In the end, we are very happy with the service and our nicely trimmed tree that is the centerpiece of our front yard.

The owner personally came out. He identified six trees which needed to be trimed and quoted a price for each individual tree. The estimate he provided was good for one year. Several weeks later, we called the owner and requested training for.three.of the six trees at a cost of $750.00. About two weeks later, his team trimmed the three trees exactly as requested. Based on the excellent service, we will be asking the company to come out again and.trim the remaining trees.

Thomas and his team were excellent. Not only did they do the job they were contracted for, they also advised us on some other things (unrelated to their work) we could do to improve the yard. I recommend them highly.

I was disappointed in the service because they failed to contact me, and then the 700 dollar minimum was more work than I needed done.

We contacted him several times and left several messages. When we finally reached him, he said that he could not come up with a date when he was available. He was not able to work weekends. We could not come up with a solution as to when he could work. We contacted Angie's List for a refund.
