The Heart of Wood

Good responsiveness and easy to work with upfront but they removed lower branches on a magnolia tree that I asked the crew to not remove. Total loss of privacy and a ruined view as a result. I am completely heartbroken. My backyard was one of the best features of our house - no more and the lower branches will NOT grow back. Ruined forever. As an accomodation Thomas took 10% off. OK but not even close to enough for the damage done. Update: Three days later and I am still incredibly crushed about what they did. I've spoken with a tree nursery and nothing can be planted to resolve my issue. It will be many years before something can grow in the space available and the cost will be far more than the token gesture offered. I cannot even begin to tell you how much damage The Heart of Wood did Friday. I've lost the enjoyment of my own yard and no telling how much resale value evaporated as a result of their lack of care. See the pics below - including another tree where they ignored the direction given by the Thomas, the owner, resulting in loss of privacy from that neighbor as well. My private yard was destroyed.

They did a great job. Very professional and careful approach.

There were several branches hanging over a section of my roof. Decided to hire a pro to trim them. I had used this company several years ago and was pleased. This was a small job and I was not in a rush. They did excellent work. Still pleased this second time around.

Fine. Forgot on minor thing but is coming back to take care. Very easy to work with, well-priced and they clean up after they are none.

Provided written estimate within one week of my request.

Everything went exceedingly well. I used Heart of Wood for another dead tree 18 months ago and was very impressed with their professionalism and expertise. They once again exceeded my expectations.

It went fine. The owner seemed very professional and ensured I was satisfied with his crew's work. I thought his estimate was quite reasonable and he even pruned a tree as a courtesy.

Couldn't have gone better. The owner was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. He came quickly to give an estimate. Returned promptly with crew after I accepted and completed the job quickly. Even cleaned up more than the area affected by their work. The price was 36% less than a competitive proposal from another Angie's List recommended tree service company.

Took some time to get scheduled, but once they had availability the work was done quickly and professionally.

All work was done professionally and courteously.

It took a long time to get initial pricing. The price was quite low and I attempted to follow through by getting more specific information. Had difficulty getting answers to questions, and the company rep finally did not respond at all. I called Angie's and asked for a refund of the $200 advance I paid for the promotion. I was told the time limit to request a refund elapsed (30 days) and I am out $200.

I purchased the service via an offer of $199.00, and the owner was taking about 4-6 weeks to set an appointment (he didn't do the work because he couldn't climb trees any longer). When the time got around towards the 5th week, I still didn't have an appointment, so I canceled. It is two months after canceling and I still haven't gotten my refund. The owner said they couldn't issue the refund, and that Angies List had to. So far no one has issued the refund, and I just had to raise the matter again. Not happy at all!

They were excellent. They were hard to get in touch with, but they were excellent when they got here. They were complete. Yes, I would consider using them in the future.

Because of where the tree is located they couldn't get their machine in there to grind the stump and roots. They told us that before because they couldn't bring their machine in our small backyard. I don't blame them for that. They sprayed some stuff on it. Quality was fine. They were fine. They came and they did it efficiently and quickly and cleaned up after themselves so I was happy with them and I would recommend them. Their personality and their effort and timing was good. They did it efficiently and they did what they said they would and I was satisfied. The whole thing was a couple of hours.

Went well --Arrived early due to cancellation. Efficient workers - 2 ea for almost 2 days.

It turned out well, I like what he did, but I asked him to do more because it was not exactly what I wanted for a few bushes but he has not come back out yet. It took a long time to get them out there, several phone calls. I know it was their busy time of year. Their pricing was excellent, they were really inexpensive. It was really good work, they cleaned up everything very well. It was hard to get them to commit to a time frame.

Usually the vendor contacts you to schedule the work. I waited a week, no contact. I called and left a message to contact me, still no contact. I contacted Angie's List and cancelled the deal.

Provider had great work ethic, were polite and professional.

it was excellent overall service. they came out when they were suppose to and did excllent clean up and followup. Very skilled and knowledgeable great equiptment and good guy

We cannot believe how deep this stump was, he had to dig it up with a machine and then the penetrating roots. They were so careful, meticulous, and thorough. They did the root digging by hand to avoid braking pipe or the walkway where there was potential for damage. The stump grinding was done by a machine. We offered to pay them more because we thought they had undercharged us, they said no. They are great! Very punctual, they let you know ahead of time when they are coming, Thomas is a really classy guy, and they cleanup everything so well.

They were efficient, excellent clean up afterwards.

They arrived on time, they did a great job. They did a extraordinary job of cleaning up afterwards.

They quoted me on tree trimming and removal.

All of the wood operations I've had have all been As. The guys performed well. The Heart of Wood is actually a guy I have been using for years. He keeps changing his name. It used to be Bud's Tree Service. And then it went to another group and then this guy started working for other guys. Tree people are sort of a group of people that work together a lot. The service I got from them was all A's. They were punctual and they did everything known to God. But I have not had any person that has done tree trimming or taking down trees or anything like that in the last couple years that hasn't been more than excellent. It was unique the quality of what this guy gave me as far as service. A lot of tree trimmers climb up the trees with spikes on. This guy explained to me and showed me in the book he was carrying that that climbing up the trees with spikes tears up the trees. It kills them. I'm thinking how many times have I seen guys do that on my property. And he's showing me how bad that is and he's right. It is bad. So not only was this guy professional but he was doing it in a manner that kept the tree not only looking good after they finished but healthy. And a little education on the side. On cleanup they get better than an A. I've never seen a tree company clean up as well as these guys. It was like they were never here except my trees were trimmed properly. When he gave me the estimate he went around to all the trees on the property. He found one tree in the back that had a hole in it and he told me what was going to be the problem there. He said for this amount of money I'll fill the hole. And then he found a couple trees in the back that are going to fall down on my shed. He suggested I do not leave those like they were. He did a whole bunch of stuff. He even did one little project in the front for free. He trimmed my cherry tree. Quite good service to say the least.
