I am very happy with my experience with The Heart of Wood. I have a tree in front of my home that doesn't seem to have been trimmed in years. The tree was overgrown and had branches that were too low, hitting my house and encroaching on my neighbor's house. I called The Heart of Wood for an estimate, and Thomas arranged to meet with me a couple days later on the weekend. The estimate seemed very reasonable, so I scheduled the work for early the following week. The tree looks great now, and the crew cleaned up all the debris from the work. I wasn't sure what to expect from this process; my goal was to stop the tree from hitting my house. However, the result was much better. In addition to removing the troublesome branches, Thomas and his crew gave the tree a far more pleasing shape that improves the appearance of the house. I would definitely use The Heart of Wood again.

We met Tom when he came around to provide an estimate for work for our next door neighbor. She later chose him for the work and we had an opportunity to watch him and his team in action. We discussed a large tree which was next to the bunch he was working on for our neighbor but which were on our side of the property line. I appreciated his matter-of-fact approach and willingness to talk about the health of the tree and the pros and cons of removal. He provided us an estimate after he completed our neighbor's job which we found reasonable and decided we'd do. Which we then dropped the ball on and forgot to call and schedule a time to make it happen. Tom called me again a few months later to follow-up and we jumped at the chance to get the tree taken down before more time went by and possible spring winds could leave us and many angry neighbors without power. Although we were far past the original time limit placed on the price estimate he honored it without a peep and we were able to schedule the time within a fairly short time. They arrived at the agreed-upon date and time and were finished with the job, including clean-up, within schedule. Every bit of fall-off from the job was cleaned up and all the surrounding areas cleared and cleaned such that they look way better than they did before the job was done.

Tom was working across the street pruning Bradford Pear trees and removing a Box Elder. I know something about tree work and he looked like he was doing a good job. I asked, and he gave me an estimate the next day, as he was finishing other job. he started my job the day after that, and finished in two days. He did what was agreed at a good price on a timely basis, and I was satisfied. I would use him again. His appears to be a small business and he doesn't seem to have as much equipment as some, but for jobs that are not too large, he is fine.

Thomas had been contracted by a neighbor to remove an overhanging limb from my tree, something I was unwilling to agree to until it was explained how this would affect the overall health of the tree. When we met, Thomas quickly explained the proposed work, the costs involved, and what could be expected from the tree. He then pointed out a number of areas of concern he had noticed, including visible heart-wood rot holes from storm damage, bark pops from a twisting trunk ( a sign of structural weakness ) and spongy, wet bark from where water was running down the inside of the trunk from other holes higher up. We discussed and agreed to a few proposals, all the way to full removal and disposal of the tree,which would be decided upon when the other cuts had been performed and an assessment could be made based upon what was revealed. He and his crew arrived on time and performed the work exactly as described. Even with multi-thousand pound limbs being removed overhead there was no damage to the house or any other property. When they were finished everything was blown clean and removed (even the sawdust), leaving my yard far cleaner than before they arrived. The tree is now appreciably lighter and safer. Obviously there is no way to guarantee how it will react to the pruning but if it turns out we were too late to save it, Thomas and The Heart of Wood will be the crew I call to have it taken down.

Was prompt when arriving for estimate. Tree cutting was delayed by weather and he was good about calling to let me know that it would be changed. Area was left cleaned up and in good shape (no remaining limbs or debris). We had him deliver the wood to a separate location and it was stacked neatly as requested. Was able to provide insurance info. Would use him again

We wanted to use him but we decided not to have the work done. I really loved his presentation, he was nice guy and he gave me a fair price but we discussed it at home and we decided we would hold off on having that work performed. I thought his price stood out for me and it was excellent. The approximate cost was about $500 and they came out the day I called them; sometime in August.

Thomas was very responsive to request for estimate. Arrived on time and spent about 45 minutes inspecting the tree damage and all of the trees in my yard. He seemed very knowledgable and willing to give his advice about the health and safety of each tree. The work was performed as agreed and the yard was thoroughly cleaned after the tree debris was removed. I will definitely consider Heart of Wood for future tree service.
