We had set a tentative date for the following Wednesday. Thomas was a hard to get a hold during that week but I did get a call from him Tuesday evening saying that he'd be there with his crew the next morning around 8am. They arrived between 7:30-8am and got right to work. The work they did was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't be more pleased. I even told my neighbor about Thomas and she had me get a quote from him for one of her trees. Thomas was not only polite, but down right funny and had a demeanor that put me at ease through the whole process. His crew were fantastic and asked questions when they needed additional direction so that no wrong cuts were made. I'd definitely use them again in a heartbeat!

He took down 3 trees, of medium size. He trimmed about 4 trees in the same area. He came out afterwards, a separate day to grind 4 stumps which I was fine with and I also asked him to do some additional trimming of one tree that I thought needed some additional attention and he threw that in. He knows his stuff and is well worth the wait. Good work at a fair price.

The work performed was excellent; there was no saw dust on the ground. He did exactly what was requested of him at a more than fair price. He performs work for my neighbors and all of us are very happy with the work he does. I will hire Heart of Wood again because I need further work done on other trees. I would recommend Heart of Wood in a heart beat.

Thomas from Heart of Wood was prompt,courteous, and provided a fair estimate. He explained the Big Deal I purchased required a job estimate over $700; the estimate for my job is $550. This is a fair price for my job; I appreciated the tree knowledge and information provided by Heart of Wood. From other estimates I know it is a good price for the job and quality. I am requesting a refund to my credit card for the certificate I purchased on 20 July 2014, it appears on American Express as $200. The fine print visible to customers does not say the job must be over $700 in order to use the certificate. Angie's customer service agent acknowledged that the fine print is not explicit, the "inside Angie's" information for the deal specifies a $700 estimate. I have been pleased with past Angie's deals and hope to continue my membership and refer others to Angie's list. Please reverse the charge promptly. I am quite pleased with Heart of Wood. Thank you.

The provider came out to provide an estimate. At that time, he informed us that there was a $700 minimum which was not mentioned in the fine print of the deal. We assumed we were paying $200 for $400 worth of work, but in fact we would have been expected to pay at a minimum an additional $300.

The provider was quick to respond to my purchase and came out to look at the tree. His estimate was under the $700 minimum for the "deal" but it was a very fair price and we contracted with him to do the work. He and his crew were very efficient in removing the tree and he said they would be by the following week to grind the stump. He called in the next few days to say that we were the only stump grinding scheduled for that weekend and he would do it, even though he would have to rent/move equipment for just our job. I was happy to have him put off the work another week until he had more stumps scheduled to grind but appreciated him leaving the decision up to me.. In order to get the grinder into the back yard, they had to remove the top pole and peel back a section of our chain link fence. After the work was done, it was impossible to tell that anything had been done to the fence. The area where he ground the stump was smooth and free of all chips. The provider is a down to earth person who was transparent about every step of the process. I would definitely call him again for tree work.

When speaking with them about scheduling and letting them know what I needed done, they informed me they do not service this type of work. I needed my weeping birch tree retrained and some shrubs trimmed.

Excellent work! The trees were cut down and they took away the brush and left firewood sized logs neatly stacked. He offered helpful advice about other trees and cleaned up the whole area beautfully. Very nice guy too. I'd definitely use Heart of Wood again.

Excellent work. Job took 4 to 5 hours. I was home for only the last hour. Impressive to see the worker up in the crown of the tree--not a job that I'd want to do so very glad to find these guys. When I got home in the middle of the job, my yard and my neighbor's were littered with tree branches, leaves and other tree debris. By the time they left, the yards were pristine so that the only sign that they had been there was my healthy looking tree. For the work done, the price seemed fair to me and a good value. I didn't shop around so no clue what others would have charged. Initial contact with the company was through Angie's List messages so it took a while to connect with Thomas. Once I had his phone number, it was easy to arrange for him to stop by the house to provide a quote for the proposed work and then to arrange for the work to be done. As with all outside work, it was weather-dependent and with July rain and thunderstorms, it was no surprise that the original workday was rescheduled.

I wasn't able to use the deal because we didnt need enough work done to qualify for the deal. We were below the threshold needed for the deal. The provider however is still coming out to do the work, just not under the deal. We've had a very postive experience thus far and he appears to be very conscientious and thorough.

To my pleasant surprise, they did not find my trees needed work beyond the trimming and pruning that I wanted and the cost of doing that work was much less than the minimum value required to use the voucher. Therefore, I'm requesting a refund of the voucher. I hired them for the tree work quoted and that work is scheduled to be performed next week.

In the past, I've hired the kind of tree trimmers who show up at the door and say "since I happen to be working in the neighborhood I can give you a good deal...." This time I took a $200 discount coupon on Angie's and tried the Heart of Wood. Thomas accommodated my schedule by coming out on a weekend to do an estimate and was great to work with. I live in a heavily wooded residential area and he proposed some careful pruning of our tall trees instead of the chain-saw chopping that others have done. The work we agreed on was done quickly and well. I will definitely turn to Heart of Wood next time I need such work.

I contacted them, left them 3-4 messages before they finally responded. I ended up needing to use another provider because I couldn't wait any longer.

He gave me an estimate first ($400-something) and then I gave him my coupon for the service. When I presented the coupon, they said I needed to have a minimum of $700 worth of work scheduled to have the deal honored. Other than that, the company was fine.

Went great. Guys worked their butts off, taking down one tree and cutting it up, pruning five others, and then cleaning up in around three hours in sweltering heat. Stump removal took place (as scheduled) two days later. Whole process was painless. We would definitely use them again,

Thomas had to reschedule our first appointment for the estimate due to truck problems, but was very accommodating in rescheduling. He was very professional when he did make it out. The advice he gave on what to do with the trees was sound. He was able to identify the different species in my yard and seemed like he had a real mind for conservation and best practices. His price was $200 higher than another offer that I got, but Thomas seemed to have a better understanding and told me he didn't use day-laborers or subcontractors, so I went with the Heart of Wood. The day that the work was to be done, Thomas and his crew of 3 guys were at my house at 8:00 on the dot. They got straight to work. They seemed like they had all the right tools for the job, everyone was extremely professional. Thomas was happy to address my concerns. I asked for firewood and he not only gave me a large pile, he stacked and cut my neighbor lots of wood as well. When Thomas gave his estimate, he promised that his crew would extensively clean my yard after they wrapped up, which was very true, my neighbor also had his yard cleaned up better than I've ever seen it. My yard looks great now and my trees are healthy. I would recommend the Heart of Wood to my friends and anyone looking for some tree work.

I purchased the deal. I received an email from Angie's List that the company would be in touch within 48 hrs. The next day I received an email from The Heart of Wood saying they needed my phone number to contact me and set up an appointment. This occurred again for two more days. I kept sending my phone number and they kept sending me a request for my phone number. On the third time I told them to cancel the offer. I don't have time for that when I need my tree work done. I am not dealing with people who deal with me that way.

The estimation process went very well. The estimator was very helpful and very informative. I nearly selected The Heart of Wood for the job but decided on a company that had done work for me previously and offered a return-customer discount.

They took the time to explain recommendations and though we have a yard full of trees, only recommended work on two of them --- even though we're admittedly clueless about what needs to be done to protect our home. Honest, polite, and easy-going --- will likely get our business.

I purchased one of the 'deal' coupons to take care of a tree limb that snapped off a 50 year old oak tree, which landed across my driveway. Thomas promptly came over to clear the limb from the driveway and we discussed the removal of the entire tree as it was diseased. After agreeing on the price he and his crew arrived a few days later to remove the tree. I am satisfied with the work performed as well as with the price.

First, my job does not cost $700, so they don't accept the coupon.

When Steve came over, he was friendly and respectful. He gave me an estimate but told me he could not honor the big deal because it only pertained to jobs that are over a certain price (I believe he said the job had to be over $700 but I am not sure of that figure ... he said I should have read the fine print??). I called today to see if I could get a date for the job but have yet to get a call back. To be honest, if I have not heard from him by the time I receive the refund, I will cancel my order and try someone else.

I am very happy with my experience with The Heart of Wood. I have a tree in front of my home that doesn't seem to have been trimmed in years. The tree was overgrown and had branches that were too low, hitting my house and encroaching on my neighbor's house. I called The Heart of Wood for an estimate, and Thomas arranged to meet with me a couple days later on the weekend. The estimate seemed very reasonable, so I scheduled the work for early the following week. The tree looks great now, and the crew cleaned up all the debris from the work. I wasn't sure what to expect from this process; my goal was to stop the tree from hitting my house. However, the result was much better. In addition to removing the troublesome branches, Thomas and his crew gave the tree a far more pleasing shape that improves the appearance of the house. I would definitely use The Heart of Wood again.
