The Heart of Wood

This provider did not honor the Big Deal that I purchased. The deal indicated that I was paying $199.00 for $400.00 of service. Beside the $199.00 I already paid, he charged me an additional $200.00. I am very disappointed in this as I feel he should have honored the deal.

There were no additional costs and scheduling was fine. They took down a very large tree in my front yard. They cleaned up everything and hauled it all away. There was no damage anywhere and no problems at all. They later came back for stump grinding. They did a great job!

It was fine. It was great. I found them through my neighbors. Thomas is reliable and very careful.

Thomas gave me a good estimate, paired with an Angie's List deal. They cut down the unwanted trees that I had marked and cleared away all the brush.

It was a good experience. The first day, they came to give me an estimate on what they thought needed done. I thought I had a bunch of trees that needed trimmed or pruned. They estimated a larger amount than my budget allowed. I called an arborist to help me prioritize. When I told them what the arborist said, they were very nice & understanding about it. They did the work within a day; they took out a big tree, and left my yard super clean.

They spent an extra day doing the work to get it just right. Their work was excellent.

To be clear, ?cut back? is NOT THE SAME as ?cut off?. Instead of taking about 12? off the branches near the window, he took off whole branches! That?s right. At least 4 ft worth of branches. And not just near the window. He essentially cut away about 20 percent of the tree (top to bottom) like taking a slice out of a birthday cake. This was supposed to be a beautification project. I now have a terrible eye sore on the first tree that people see when they approach my property. After I freaked out, he pointed to his drawing on the estimate which didn't convey that much to me. Then he said the tree would grow back in a COUPLE OF YEARS. He also told me he wants happy customers. Well, this customer is NOT HAPPY. On top of that, there was no apology, remorse or any effort to make me feel better. No reduction is his fee for service. And no discount for Angie?s List members.

He was polite and professional. He stated it couldn’t be done.

Thomas was very responsive. He is very busy, but makes an effort to keep all his projects moving in a reasonable time frame. Luckily, after our initial meeting, he could inspect the tree and do the estimate without my physically having to be there. His estimate was significantly more affordable than another service provider's that I had contacted. His crew did a thorough job and really cleared all the poison ivy from the tree. They removed tree limbs as well and even helped my neighbors by cutting them into manageable pieces so they could take them for firewood. Great job all around.

They did a great job trimming a large tree in our front yard that had gone years without trimming. They cleaned up all the cut wood and cleaned up some leaves for us as well as a bonus.

I sold my home and no longer needed this deal

It went very well. The came on time and did everything exactly the way they said they would and I would use them again. They honored the big deal.

Service was responsive and high quality. good experience.

There was a $700 minimum required so we weren't able to use the deal. They said it was in the fine print but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I didn't hear from them initially and my computer went down, so my handyman did the work.

Scheduling was fine. He gave me a quote but I haven’t moved forward with it. My problem is, I’d hoped he would’ve come up with a solution to save the tree, but he wanted to cut it down. I don't know if I want to trim the tree now and cut it down in a few years or cut it down now. He gave me the option of trimming the tree but it didn't address the issue of saving the tree. He was very punctual to our appointment, too.

First he came out and estimated trees to be pruned. Estimates were very high. I had someone else come out to estimate and price was over $100 lower than The Heart of Wood.

Thomas was easy going, professional, personable, knowledgable and responsive. I haven't done the job yet, but when I do, I will definitely hire this company.

Thomas was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. He came out within a day or two to give an estimate, which he provided at the appointment. From there, he kept me informed of when he'd be coming back to remove the tree (which he did promptly), dealt with our difficult parking situation, and performed the job as requested. The cost was slightly higher than one other estimate we had received, but I chose to hire him anyway because of the level of service.

It did take two weeks for the service to be performed ... but I think it was worth the wait. They did a terrific job on the removal of the limbs as well as the clean-up. I believe it was a total of six limbs (they also pruned one of the trees) and were finished within 90 minutes. Thomas and the entire crew were very polite and professional. I would absolutely use The Heart of Wood in the future and also recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Thomas and his small crew were fantastic. We have a large oak tree in our back yard that has been dropping dead branches for a few years, and we knew it needed cleared out before it hurt someone or something. Thomas was quick to get us an estimate, and his estimate beat others by a significant amount. It took a little while to get everything scheduled, but when they arrived for the work they got right down to it and did an excellent job on a tough tree. It took them longer than they had planned, but they saw the job all the way through and got it done right. The tree looks much better now. Thomas also had good insights into the tree and its potential long-term health. Hoping he's right that we should get at least another 10 good years out of it. I would not hesitate to contact him for future work. He's a busy guy with a small staff, but they are friendly and highly professional.

The crew scaled the tree, cut out the dead wood and excess limbs and brush and hauled the debris away. They cleaned out the oak tree and made it look like a tree, rather than a bush. It is an old tree, is healthy, but was definitely in need of work. The Heart of Wood accomplished this. They did a great job and cleaned up the entire area where the debris had fallen (including the affected parts of my neighbor's yard). I recommend their services to anyone who reads this review and is in need of this kind of work.

He was very prompt and responsive during a busy time. I will certainly consider him in the future once I decide which tree work I need.
