The work the team did was amazing. They got there a little late but they called me to let me know so it was fine. The team of three came in and immediately got to work. They cleaned everything til it gleamed and I started to tell them please pay attention to certain areas but there was no need because they were already on it! I have a current cleaning team already but I will be getting rid of them and switching over to the Green Mop for sure! They wiped off areas I had not even thought to tell them to clean like the top of the washer/dryer in the utility room. As I said there was some sort of greasy film left over from whomever lived there prior to my buying the place and they worked non-stop to get that grime up. One of the ladies was a perfectionist and my fiance and I laughed because I could tell she was not satisfied with the level of clean she was able to get on the stove-- she kept coming back to clean it again and again-- at least 4 times and it was sparkling already but she was determined to clean it more. We had finally had to tell her- it's ok- its so grimy we will probably be buying a new one-- you can stop now! They were magnificent! I will definitely definitely have them come regularly to clean my house from here on out. They worked on my yucky house for 5 hours straight -- by the time they left my house the sun had gone down-- yes it was that bad in there! I actually felt comfortable enough after they cleaned to sit on the floor and kick my shoes off- when I had not even wanted to touch anything a mere 5 hours earlier. They are great!
Description of Work: I recently bought a foreclosure with my fiance. The walls and the kitchen was atrocious-- everything was coated with grease and who knows what! It was so nasty all we did was stand in the middle of the room because we were afraid to touch anything! I called the Green mop and explained that basically I needed everything and I mean everything in that house cleaned and scoured. They had to clean every room in the 3 bedroom condo, every wall, all the baseboards, behind the stove and fridge, wipe down all counters, clean the mold out of the fridge, get the grease off the kitchen wall and wipe down all the windowsills and windows, mop all floors and wipe down EVERYTHING-- yes it was that gross!

Overall, the cleaning is ok. They are very responsive to emails and requests for changes to the day you have your house cleaned. We decided to discontinue using Green Mop because I didn't feel that we were getting two hours/$150 worth of cleaning. The cleaners would do a fine job in some areas and give minimal attention to others. I wouldn't mind it so much if those were low traffic areas but they were the high traffic bathroom and family room. We asked a few times for them to focus on those areas or specifically requested certain things to be cleaned but results were mixed.
Description of Work: We have been using Green Mop every other week for several months.

When I began with the company there was one owner/manager; there are now two, husband and wife. This has changed consistency and communications. They recently tried to go from 3 staff members at 2 hours to 2 people at 2 hours and demand the same fee for my service. There was no communication of this change. The staff who come to the house are wonderful. It is the management I am concerned about. The company is inexperienced and growing too quickly. I have no doubt that they will lose the personal touch that, along with their green niche marketing, made them special.
Description of Work: I have used this company for approximately one year and have been satisfied until the past two weeks. It seems that the terms of my service have changed and I am not important enough as a client to be notified.

What do you do with some of these people who no matter what you say to them they want to hear it their own way. That's the case here. We do NOT charge the same for 2 versus 3 cleaners. We had one time where two cleaners showed up because a lady cleaner was sick and she was billed 50 dollars per hour for 2 cleaners instead of 75 dollars per hour for 3 cleaners. Of course two cleaners takes longer than 3 cleaners so a lot of times 3 cleaners will take 2 hours where 2 cleaners takes 3 hours. It's still the same price - $150 dollars. But she still insists this was a "policy" change she was not informed of! So even though she acknowledges we were great for almost a year of service - that's it because of this "policy" change. A lot of this we have to be like doctors to try and sort out what is really going on in these people's lives that we really don't have time for. Luckily, we have a great group of clients and we are doing so well! Business has been booming - we have added so many new clients and are looking to sell franchises, so please contact us!!

The cleaners did a great job that was not expecting them to do, once they finished the work i had no word to say except thank you so so much and i asked to the guy to have an estimate of how many time i can have them to cleane my unit the team leader told me that every two weeks would be good, that was good for me as well.
Description of Work: what a wonderful job the cleaners did at my house, they thoroughly worked through my unit to get it cleaned and tidy, once they were done my Apt looked like it's never been used plus the company is so reasonably priced

I had been using Green Mop s cleaning services for well over a year. They came every other Thursday to clean our home. I had been satisfied with them until recently when my husband and I went on vacation and the cleaning crew locked my cat in a spare bedroom without access to food or water for four days. My husband and I travel a lot, and every time before we leave I e-mail Green Mop with instructions for the crew to not close the spare bedroom doors because my cat hides under the beds and she could accidentally get locked in one of the rooms. This trip was no different, in fact, I had been keeping the spare bedrooms closed to conserve heat, they aren t used, and told Green Mop the crew didn t even need to go into those rooms, leave the doors closed and only clean the master bedroom. I even gave them my cell phone number in case they had any questions or problems. We have video security monitoring in our home, while on vacation we discovered Green Mop had come two days earlier (on a Tuesday) for our cleaning without our prior permission. They had left all of the lights on in the kitchen. After realizing it was the cleaning crew who had been in our home on that day, I immediately checked my e-mail and discovered an e-mail from Tony from Green Mop to ask if it was ok to come two days earlier on that Tuesday. Since I was on vacation I hadn t checked my e-mail so I never actually gave them permission to come earlier in the week. I immediately called Green Mop to ask them to return to my home and shut off the kitchen lights, and verify that no one went into the spare bedrooms trapping the cat inside. They sent a man over to the house; he shut off the lights, went upstairs, and then left my home. When we returned four days later, we discovered my cat was locked in one of the spare bedrooms, without food or water and went to the bathroom on the bed. We also discovered the back door was unlocked (this was not the first time we ve been away and returned home to find one of our doors unlocked, the last time it was the front door and I have e-mail documentation of this). As soon as we let our cat free, gave her food and water, I called Green Mop, spoke with Tony, told him the crew did exactly what I asked them not to do resulting in my cat suffering for four days, and terminated their services. I found this company on Angie s List, and feel that the public should be made aware of this horrendous mistake before it happens to someone else. As far as I m concerned, if their crew can t follow simple instructions, their incompetence results in the harm of innocent animals, and they do things like leave the doors unlocked to your home while you re away, they shouldn t be allowed in people s homes to clean them. There is no apology, or explanation to even minutely justify this gross negligence. Especially when I had communicated with the company ahead of time exactly what my wishes were, and this wasn t the first time I gave them these kinds of instructions.
Description of Work: The Green Mop cleaned our 5000+ sq foot home every other week.

First I want to say this is a long time, well liked, and very nice client and we whole heartedly agree with her feelings about her pets. We are pet owners too and were horrified as she was that her beloved cat was locked in her spare bed room for four days. We did everything in our power to prevent that including a late night series of phone calls with the client as she was directing us through her security cameras during and after the cleaning. The client called us four times late into the night of the cleaning both during and after the cleaning. We told the cleaners on multiple occasions, real time, to leave all doors open and the doors left closed that were already closed (so she may have locked her cat in the room herself without knowing it), as cats can get by you without you noticing - they are very fast and evasive. Also, the cat could have accidentally bumped the spare bedroom door near closed, if they left it open, and then the heating or AC would have closed the door due to the suction affect (happens at my home all the time), but we would never intentionally close a door, especially with cats in the home. She knew we were in her home earlier than planned and never mentioned anything about us not supposed to be there, in fact, we were told we could go at any time since she was on travel and we had access. The email I sent her was only an additional courtesy email to let her know exactly when we were there in case an alarm were accidentally tripped, etc. No mention during the four phone calls the night of the cleaning that we weren't authorized to be there. We have serviced over 2,000 homes in 2 years and have literally a 1,000 full time clients. Do incidents occur? Absolutely, we are dealing with human beings. I don't know about her statement regarding leaving a door unlocked in the past but that is possible and we have always told our teams that is a fire-able offense. She claims the back door was left unlocked this past time - we didn't go out her back door or go near it (we don't have a key for it either) so she must have left it unlocked if it was unlocked. They may have thought they locked it and missed it themselves - makes me now wonder about the first unlocked door incident on who left the door unlocked since we have indisputable data that we didn't leave her back door unlocked this time. Regardless, we carry insurance to protect our clients and I can tell you we don't leave doors unlocked - that is a rarity. This client was with us for more than a year and this is the only incidence and, as she noted, she was satisfied with everything until the last cleaning. The client requested 30 dollars back from us and her key which we promptly sent and we apologized profusely to her and her husband. Again, in the end, the cat is fine and the home was left in better condition due to our service. I would recommend to all cat owners to spend the 7 dollars a day to board your pet to make sure they are adequately taken care of, instead of leaving them alone in a home for long periods of time - that's an accident waiting to happen as cats are very skittish and will run and hide and no one will know until it could be too late. Doors in homes can indeed close when HVAC systems come on as it creates a strong suction and you could also lock them in a room on your way out of the home.

Very well. They arrived punctually, and stayed for the exact time they promised. They were friendly, easy to work with and very responsive. They also gave us a few time slots to choose from and were quick to respond to e-mails and phone calls. Would recommend highly to anyone interested.

I contacted the company by email and they responded within minutes, working with me to make an appointment that would work with my schedule (I'm a teacher, so it's hard for me to just leave the office). We decided on an afternoon, 3:30. I rushed home from school to be there on time, arriving at 3:25. At 4, I called the office to see what was happening, and they told me that there was bad traffic but the crew was on the way. Soon after, the crew called and said they had been sent to NW DC rather than my house in NE DC. I don't know how this happened; I had emailed them my address and I checked the email--it said NE. They finally arrived at 4:50, which seems weird, since it only takes me 20 minutes by car to go from NE to my school, much further away, in NW. They then did a very good job of cleaning the house and were quite nice, too. I appreciated the green bent of the business and they did a very thorough job and asked me what I wanted done and to check it out when they had finished. I would have appreciated an offer of a price reduction or a discount on the next time I used them, since they came over an hour late and were in my house until nearly 8 at night, postponing my dinner and taking up my Friday night.
Description of Work: Three workers cleaned for three hours my 1800 sf house. The swept and mopped and vacuumed the floors; wiped down doors and baseboards and stair railings; vacuumed pet hair from furniture; and wiped down the kitchen.

CLIENT SAYS WE DID A THOROUGH JOB, WOULD USE US AGAIN, AND THEN BLASTS US. WE HAD CALLED THE CLIENT AS WE WERE STUCK IN A SERIOUS TRAFFIC JAM AND HE SAID, "NO PROBLEM COME ON OVER" INSTEAD OF RESCHEDULING. NO INDICATION WORKING LATE WAS GOING TO BE AN ISSUE WITH HIM. WE ALWAYS HAVE A TWO HOUR WINDOW OF ARRIVAL DUE TO THE TRAFFIC AND OTHER CLIENTS HOMES TAKING LONGER. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE AN EXACT TIME IN THIS TOWN DOING A SERVICE BUSINESS WHERE EACH HOME IS SO UNPREDICTABLE. IN THIS CASE, THERE WAS ALSO AN ACCIDENTAL MISTAKE OF THE ADDRESS BEING SWITCHED FROM NE TO NW BUT WE STILL MADE IT IN THE GUARANTEED TWO HOUR ARRIVAL WINDOW. NO ONE ELSE GIVES YOU A TWO HOUR WINDOW; IT IS ALWAYS 8-12 OR ALL DAY TO ARRIVE (VERIZON, COMCAST, ETC). WE SHOOT FOR A SMALL AND REASONABLE TWO HOUR WINDOW WHICH WE MADE. CUSTOMER JUST WANTED SOMETHING FOR FREE AND WAS MAD I GUESS FOR NOT GETTING IT.

The showed up on time to the minute, 2 cleaners and a crew chief. They worked quickly and efficiently. Overall they did a nice job dusting, sweeping, cleaning the bathroom fixtures, etc. The only complaint was that they did not clean the narrow space between the sink and the tub until I pointed it out and they did not do a good job cleaning the tile toothbrush holder. For the bathroom I'd give them a C+ or B- but an A for everything else. I checked all around the house and they didn't miss any spots dusting. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: They cleaned the main floor and finished basement of a Cape Cod. This included a living room, small kitchen, family room, office, hallways and one full bath with a mixture of hardwood floors, area rugs and carpet. There are a lot of knickknacks that make dusting more difficult. The house had not been professionally cleaned in a couple years and this was a special cleaning before a party.

We used Green Mop twice. We really like that they used eco-friendly products and that they were employing people who were looking to make a new start. Unfortunately, they were just too pricey for us. f cost is less a concern though, I'd recommend them. It was great to have a non-toxic house for a short time.

This is a hard one. The actual cleaners did an incredible job. They were very thorough, conscientious and detailed. I have absolutely no complaint with the work they did. This service was a little more expensive than others I've tried, but not enough to bother me. The struggle was in dealing with the owners. I had a great deal of trouble communicating with them, getting the proper price estimate and just general poor management. I ended up paying them over $1,000 at one time, when the owner finally got around to telling me how much I owed her. Also, we were having some issues, so I needed a company with a little bit more flexibility and responsiveness. In fairness to the owner, I think maybe she was having some personal or family problems at the time. I just needed someone more formal and professional in her communications.

First, Mia came to evaluate my home and give me an estimate. She asked for any special objects that I would want to receive special attention. We schedule the days by email, which is very easy. I am not at home every time they come but all of the team members I meet are outstanding in their work and their conduct. On two occasions, there was a minor breakage.....one of a glass and the other an already faulty toilet paper holder. They left me a note pointing this out and asked to pay for any repair or replacement. They are very pleasant to have around and very thorough and efficient in their work. I always enjoy seeing them. I continue to use them and plan to do so for a long time to come.
Description of Work: A team comes to my home every month to clean-everything from changing the linen on the bed, cleaning all bathrooms (including one with kitty litter!), kitchen, dusting and vacuuming all rooms, etc. My home is a different place after they leave.

I have really liked working with The Green Mop. From the beginning, when Mia came out to do the estimate herself, I was impressed. Mia and the company have an interesting story, and Mia was willing to work on a flexible basis with me. No more do I have to set up a rigid cleaning schedule--I can just call as I need them. And my price doesn't change whether I have them come once a week or once a month, or just have them clean two rooms or five--it's still $75 per hour. That was very important to me, and I've very much appreciated that. I first wondered whether being charged hourly would be abused. While the cleaners do work slowly, it's not because they are dragging their heels. They work cautiously and with respect for my things. This is so much better than a previous company I used where it seemed that they were trying to just hurry up and rush to their next job. First visit was a detailed cleaning that took 4 hrs. $75/hr. I called on Tuesday, they came on Wednesday. They sent a professional looking, three person team that arrived on time and ready to work. After quickly walking through the house (which had become a little dirty since my wife started working two months ago) and a few specific instructions - change the sheets, leave the desk alone, pull out the fridge and clean the yuck from back there, etc - they got to work and I went to the office. I asked them to call 30 min before they finished. They called at noon and I arrived at 12:30 as they were washing the storm door windows. Team leader walked me through the entire house and showed me what they did and asked for feedback. Superior work. I didn't recognize the place - it was that clean. Exceeded expectations. I scheduled a return two weeks later. Requested and received the same team. They knocked out the whole house in 2 hrs (including doing last night's dishes). With two dogs and a 5 yr old, I am particularly happy they do everything with natural products (salt, baking soda, etc). The house sparkles but doesn't have that Windex smell. I gave a "B" on price for general principal. My research indicates their price is competitive for this area. Everything's too expensive nowadays.
Description of Work: Cleaned the entire house from top to bottom. Windows, changed sheets, cleaned the dust out of everything from vents to overhead fans, cleaned behind the fridge, shined the bathrooms (I say shined the bathrooms because I've never seem them so clean), scrubbed the floors, vacuumed everything. Scrubbed magic-marker off the walls. They didn't miss a thing. Knocked out the entire two floor, 3BR, 2.5 bathroom 1800 Sq Ft. townhouse in 4 hrs.

The workers were nice and they responded to my calls in a timely manner. They did a pretty good job of cleaning the house. It was left better than they found it. They were careless in their cleaning as they broke some items that were not easy to break. The items were not fragile.

I hired Green Mop due to their excellent ratings on Angie's List, their responsiveness, and their willingness to help with laundry (which is surprisingly hard to find in a cleaning service). The initial cleaning was easy to schedule, and Yolani's team was right on time. I was concerned because there was a good deal of clutter, but they could not have done better. Everything was put away where it was supposed to go, and the house was absolutely spotless. They even found a digital camera that I had lost over a year ago! I would recommend them to anyone. I gave them a B for price because it was a bit expensive. However, it was not over what they quoted me, and I think it was well worth it.

Three cleaners came, they are nice and easy to communicate with. I feel like they are friendly and trust worthy. I do not have issue of missing items after their cleaning.
Description of Work: They came to clean my 3 bedroom and 1 1/2 bath house in Vienna. They bring all the equipment and cleaning supplies, so I do not need to worry about anything. They vacuum, mop, remove cobwebs, make beds and do laundry. In my bathroom, they scrub the bathtubs and sinks. They even help us to remove the mold in the shower. They made my house sparkling, I am very satisfied with their service.

They did a really good job, impressed me by the way they clean. Their price is also reasonable, within the budget I could afford.
Description of Work: They did an in-depth cleaning though the whole house. We have a really dirty carpet, they did a great job on carpet cleaning as well. We also take good care of the cat's hair. Dusting and mopping the bathroom very well. The whole bathroom is shining after their cleaning. They also impressed me by the pattern they made on the floor after their vacuuming.

They were OK. The first time I had them come I thought they were going to do a deep clean, but I couldn't really tell. Both times I had them come over there was just a little damage done to a book shelf, a few lights were knocked down and some other things. They also damaged an antique of mine and then hid it, and I didn't find out until I had stopped using them. It took two people about two and a half hours total to get everything done. It seemed like they had rushed through cleaning the house. The company offered to come back and clean a few things that didn't get cleaned, but the employees just didn't do a very good job. I didn't like the way they cleaned and I probably wouldn't use them again. I think they have a great idea, but I think they tried to grow a little to fast.
Description of Work: Rebuttal to the company's non-factual response. The fact that the company did not address: - their employees appear to be rushing through the job, which they are paid on an hourly basis for...so why would you rush? (I seriously wish i had installed a nanny type cam just to time how long they were there) - they specifically were using toxic chemicals - on what planet does cleaning a bathroom not include the toilet or mirror? - on what planet does it not make sense to mop a slate floor during a general cleaning? Speaks volumes to whether or not they are an honest business in the first place. In response to their comment that it was a "really dirty house" and "cluttered." Excuse me!!! - Um, no. If it had been that "dirty" then the owner, who came to my house beforehand and gave the first estimate, should have said it would take two cleanings, which she did not. She remarked at the cleanliness of the house as it was and that it would be no problem. However, she also stated she would be there for the first cleaning, she was not there either time. In my entire first floor (dining room, living room, hallway and kitchen) I had a total of three small shelves, one with a collection of pipes on it, another with a lamp and a German wooden carving, and no more than two items on any other flat surface to include lamps with the exception of one amoire on which there were five framed pictures, one candle and a router and the dinning room table which was set with two candles and four charger plates. Most books and other items are in glass fronted shelving, in the basement which they appeared to never touch. There were never any papers or mail left out, laundry was always in the hamper, no shoes nor other items left laying around and bed linens were laid out next to the beds for remaking. I specifically went through the house each night before the cleaning crew came to ensure there was nothing to impede an efficient use of their time. I cleaned houses for a living from age 9 until I was out of college, mostly for families and older people....a busy family house hold, or a place filled with 80 years of memories would be naturally cluttered and in the busiest household, even with floors I emptied three or more dirty buckets from, i would NEVER, have made such an excuse for a job done so poorly, although I also was paid by the hour and was at the house cleaning for the entire time that I charged for...which is probably why I also never broke anything...I didn't rush to get to another job. On the last time, claiming my dog must have broken an item on a shelf four feet up the wall, cleaned the broken bits, and then positioned what was left of it behind other items, WOW if my dog was that talented, you can bet I would have her on youtube regularly. I had them clean my entire house two times before I stopped using them.

Not pleased at all with this company. They would not give us a firm price before they completed the first cleaning. Then, they charged us much higher than the estimate they provided because they took longer to do the work (they charge by the hour). Since it was an initial cleaning, I expected the work to be their best effort. The work, however, was sub-par compared to other house cleaners we have used. They did a terrible job (if they even tried) cleaning the showers, they left dust in the corners, they did not clean under anything and I do not think a mop was ever employed. I would not use them again.

THE SAME MILDEW (SHOWERS) THEY STATED HERE THAT WAS LEFT IN THE SHOWERS IS THE SAME MILDEW (SHOWERS) THAT THEY COMPLAINED THAT THE LAST COMPANY LEFT. SOME MILDEW IS TOO TOUGH TO REMOVE I GUESS. The day of the service, I was told that the team will come at 8am. At 8:30 I called the office and was told that they are probably parking outside my house at this moment. They were not and they showed about an hour later, around 9:20. I showed them around the house and explained what I wanted done, without mentioning the time limit, assuming that they knew about it. About an hour later they still have not finished with the master bedroom and bath, so I spoke to the team leader - she had no idea that they needed to be done in 2 hours. They picked up the speed somewhat and I left them to finish without supervision since I had something else to take care of. They left at 11:30 sharp and when I got a chance to inspect the job, I wasn't that impressed. They had missed a lot of spots vacuuming the carpet in the living room. The kitchen floor had a couple of spots left unwashed and some dirt left here and there. Overall, my impression is that the price was a bit on the high end and since I was paying by the hour, they really were not in a hurry to finish up. They did move some of the furniture (a TV) to clean underneath and then didn't move it back, so there was some dirt and dust at the spot where they left it. There is an obvious lack of communication between the manager and the team. I probably wouldn't hire them again.

WE PROBABLY NEED TO WARN CLIENTS BETTER IN ADVANCE OF AN INITIAL CLEANING THAT IF YOU TRY THIS APPROACH WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CLEAN YOUR PLACE PROPERLY.
