Luke did my energy audit and he was really friendly and knowledgable. I am actually a prior customer. Home Energy Medics did a lot work approx. 5 years ago for me and it's saved me somewhere between 30-40% in electricity and gas costs each year. This audit was for a "tune-up" audit in one bedroom. He had great tools and let me follow him around and ask questions. Luke identified root cause using door blower and infrared camera, and air pressure monitor for air ducts. Basically some of my LED lights and duct work are leaking air, so hopefully an easy fix. He prepared and emailed an action plan and options for remediation. I will very likely implement the recommendations. Thanks!

The house was very clean during the project despite their insulation work. This was a very pleasant surprise. They were also highly organized.We did have an issue stemming from the original energy audit over a year before where there was some HVAC misdiagnosis/confusion on evaluating the unit performance. Reason I gave a quality b rather than a. This was ultimately corrected but was a hassle as the time to the extent it had the potential effect of overstating need for HVAC/duct work without careful questioning by customer. They ultimately addressed this however.

Really well from beginning to end. All were very knowledgeable and responsive. Their services are not cheap, but I trusted them and believe that you also get what you pay for. We are looking forward to more comfortable summers and winters in our home.

The Home Energy Audit Report provided detailed information of how our house was performing looking at how well the house retains heat/cold and the appliances operations. This was enlightening since our house is more than 60 years old. The Proposed Action Plan was detailed. It included the following four categories: 1) House area affected 2) subject - what was to be done 3) observation - what was causing the energy leaks in that area 4) the solution - detail of what was to be done for that specific problem/problem. We had Home Medic complete most of the recommended services in May 2019. The recommendations not completed were later addressed during a partial home renovation project two months later. Our house is now more comfortable both day and night. Even though a tech performed the Energy Audit, the president Scott Donelson took the time to explain the report, recommendations and answered all our questions. We would use Home Energy Medic again.

The scheduling and installation process went great. The guys were fast,efficient, and clean. Luke Wallis and his team made the home inspection review easy to understand and were helpful when it came down to providing a breakup planned improvements. They updated us at every step of the process and confirmed before our scheduled install date and called when they were in their way to our home. Just a pleasure to work with.

We had a very positive experience with Home Energy Medics. Brad performed a comprehensive energy audit of our residence in February 2019, and quickly produced a detailed report with recommendations and estimated costs. When we followed up in early September, HEM was very responsive. We signed a contract within days and the work was done before the end of the month. They removed old fiberglass insulation and installed blown closed-cell foam insulation throughout a large crawlspace. The job was well done and the contractors doing the installation were professional, courteous, and thorough.

The project went well despite some unforeseen complications. HEM was very responsive as issues arose and were effective in helping us work out alternative plans. Overall the project was a success and all of our moisture problems have been solved.

Living in a historic 1910 Foursquare is a lot of fun, but it comes with some challenges. Like feeling comfortably warm in the winter. Home Energy Medics did a full energy audit of our entire structure and Luke Wallis, our dedicated energy specialist, educated me on where we were losing heat. He crafted a remediation plan that gave us the most benefit for our money. HEM encapsulated our crawl space, reinsulated parts of the house, addressed small leaks, and added foam insulation into our vintage walls. All work was completed on time and they treated our home, and our family, with great respect. They successfully target the problem areas, implemented solutions, cleaned up, and left no trace of disruption. Excellent. Luke was the Energy Auditor assigned to my home. He was very knowledgeable about building science, the interconnection of various systems in the home (e.g., ventilation, plumbing, indoor air quality), the cause-and-effect interactions of these systems on one another, and the impact of indoor air quality on human health. For example, most of 2019, I had unseen mold issues most of 2019 which negatively impacted my health. This was a result of poor construction on a remodeled home I purchased in November 2018. After much trial-and-error, my own research, x-rays, an MRI, and 7 various contractors, I had mold remediation by another company completed in October 2019. This involved partially exposing the flat roof attic joists and fiberglass insulation that was installed in January 2019. Luke visited my home on October 16, 2019, for a comprehensive energy audit. During his visit, he noted that the exposed fiberglass insulation was improperly installed and could potentially lead to moisture and mold issues down the line. Although the resolution would basically involve tearing down the ceiling, removing the insulation, and installing a new ceiling, I am confident in the advice Luke provided because it coincided with independent research I'd conducted on building science, energy efficiency, and green homes. Home Energy Medics was one of the few companies I've contacted that understand the home is many interrelated systems, is able to articulate this, and has the tools and technology to support their recommendations and observations.

Home Energy Medics is a great business that I recommend to anyone looking to improve the energy efficiency of their home. Unlike so many businesses and contractors, the team at Home Energy Medics went above and beyond to work quickly and prioritized me. They excelled at communication - passing me updates throughout each step in our improvement plan - from the full diagnosis testing (with detailed analysis and options to tackle each problem), to the attic insulation, to the air-duct analysis and subsequent cleaning and sealing treatment, and finally, to the additional insulation measures that the owner personally conducted, free of charge. I also received in-depth responses following my initial inquiry from Vicki Wells the Office Manager, and spent hours with one of the employees and the owner himself as they took additional time to teach me about the energy system of my home and ways that I could personally improve its efficiency - to help me stay within my current budget. The employees were professional, patient, thorough, and listened to all of my concerns. I am thrilled with the results, saving lots on heating/cooling bills, and will definitely go back to them for future projects. Thank you, all!!

Luke Wallis did our audit and was very thorough. Not only did he find where heat was escaping our house, he found a gas leak we were unaware of and also found our problem as to why our clothes weren't drying after the first cycle!

We proactively sought out a home energy audit for our townhouse because we were having comfort issues in our bedrooms during the summers and winters. One bedroom was very warm in the summer and very cold in the winter. We were fairly confident we lacked adequate insulation, but we would only know for sure through a energy audit. After conducting extensive research, we landed on Home Energy Medics based on their positive reviews and professional certifications. We contacted Vicki, who is great, to set up the appointment, which was fairly painless. Bradley and David, our techs, preformed the audit and they were thorough and explained what they were doing every step of the way. After the audit, Bradley and David returned with the final assessment and an action plan based on priority. They did a great job of explaining in laymans terms where our townhouse lacked adequate insulation and how to remedy the issue based on actual data and thermal imagery collected during the audit. After our consultation, we collectively determined the best way forward to improve our home's comfort and efficiency was with the action plan provided. We did run into a couple of hiccups when finalizing our action plan (terms in the contract were not always consistent ie, finish vs paint ceiling) and scheduling our work, but in the end it all worked out. Once the action plan and schedule were finalized, Scott and Dion came out to double check the action plan and give us a better understanding of the breadth and scope of the work. While doing the walk through, Scott recommended additional work based on his extensive knowledge and training, which cost more than we expected but ended up being the right call. Once the work started, Scott and Dion stopped by on a regular basis to ensure the work was being completed on time and up to their high standards. Their crew of subcontractors were professional, courteous, clean, and did a great job. Once the work was completed, Scott and Dion did one final audit to gauge the improvement - insulation improved by ~300% and our air leakage improved by 22%! Additionally, we were in the midst of a string of hot days and noticed an immediate comfort improvement throughout the entire house. The entire experience with HEM was as pleasant as a home renovation can be, with a few minor bumps along the way, but in the end we were very happy with the work and would recommend them for your home energy solutions!!

WOW! Scott and his crew were nothing but thorough and professional. From setting up the home energy audit to the debriefs, the whole experience was a breeze. We were tired of either being too hot or too cold in our home and decided we needed to do something. Scott and the Home Energy Medics solved all our problems and taught us about home HVAC and insulation along the way. We contracted with Scott's team to complete just about all the recommended work including spray foam insulation in the attic, upgrading bathroom fans (with LED lighting) and a complete retrofitting of the crawl space (clean out, double plastic cover on the ground and spray foamed the exterior walls). Once all projects were completed, we saw INSTANT savings on our energy bills. We could not be more pleased and would recommend Scott, Vicki, Luke and the rest of the crew to anyone looking to invest in their home.

Home Energy Medics is one of the best contractors with whom we have ever worked. They did a thorough evaluation of our home that took the better part of a day. A week later, they returned with a very comprehensive, written report. The report consisted of their findings and recommendations. They went over both in great detail and answered all of our questions. It was the best $395 we’ve ever spent. Deciding to complete their recommendations in stages, we contracted with them to do a few things first and return a couple of months later to do other work. Their crews were very professional and completed the work in a timely manner. In addition, they cleaned up after themselves, leaving the place cleaner than it had been when they started. The owner of the company came every day that they were here to check on the work and answer our questions. To top it off, we were reimbursed for the entire $395 because we used them to do the work for us. I would recommend them highly and without reservation.

We used Home Energy Medics to conduct an energy audit and for our 1890s DC row house, and to then implement a variety of air sealing, insulation and HVAC supply upgrades. I was very pleased and impressed by the audit performed by Michael, as well as the action plan he recommended for upgrading our biggest energy and comfort issues -- and for mitigating traffic noise through the bedroom windows. We ultimately decided to go forward with the upgrades, and Scott was helpful in watching over them and making sure they were completed to our satisfaction. The result is a house that is much more comfortable, energy efficient, and quiet! While HEM may not be the cheapest provider, they have a keen understanding of energy performance issues -- which is hard to find with most contractors and builders.

VERY clean, always an issue for me with having work done but these guys cleaned up as if they were never there! We had Bradley come out and do our home energy audit. He was professional, knowledgeable, and the data and images he was able to share at the end were truly informative. Although they send you recommendations and a quote on correcting the various issues they find, you do not have to use their team to do the work. I AM SO GLAD WE DID! Their price point is a bit above the average quote but the their work is FAR above average. Scott was our project lead and he met with me before work started just to make sure I knew what to expect and to ask what he could do for us to help ensure we were satisfied. They took before and after photos of everything to show us it was done as promised and done well, they even retest for free to show the improvement in the home. This is “Holmes on homes” quality. I spent 5 years in the construction industry which may not be much but I know enough to really appreciate their work. I also happen to be 9 months pregnant right now and not very easy to please but these guys were professional and immaculate. Home Energy Medics provided exactly what I wanted and expected from a home improvement company, in terms of performance and customer service. Their website is informative, their pricing is advertised and transparent, and their pre-appointment correspondence is detailed. The audit itself was extensive, and our auditor was on time, friendly, respectful, and communicative. The audit lasted for a few hours and included all advertised components, including a follow-up report (presented onsite), recommended fixes, and work proposal. The question homeowners might want to ask is whether the service is worth the cost to them. For new homeowners, I'd strongly recommend an energy audit to get a fuller feel at the outset of your home's energy insulation status to be able to plan fixes accordingly (and not just jump to window replacement as the ultimate solution). For more established homeowners, it's harder to say. For me, the audit essentially confirmed what I've already learned about our home, but having the technical results, visuals, and report were worth it. Others may believe the audit is less necessary and go straight to anticipated fixes. Some may still learn a thing or two about their home and receive suggestions for fixes that they may not have thought about. My only recommendation: the report is presented in a fairly basic/visual form. I understand why, but my personal preference would be to include some more technical details concerning the blower test, vent checks, etc. All in all, a company and service that I recommend.
