Blue Door Painters

They did not do what they contracted with us. They came out to do an estimate, and they didn't do an efficient job. They did very poor quality work. The price was reasonable.

The crew arrived on time and finished the job in three days. We were satisfied with the the way they painted the house. We were unhappy with how rough the crew was on our landscaping. They washed their equipment in the back yard and left visible paint stains on the grass. They also splattered paint on a large patch of ground cover around our deck. They threw their trash in our shrubs rather than in a garbage bag. We expressed our concern about the lack of professionalism to the company CEO (Jeff Stein). He came to our house to examine the damage, but claimed that it was minor. When we asked him to take $200 off the final bill as compensation, he refused. Instead, he offered us a $25 Starbucks gift certificate which we declined. We chose Blue Door Painters despite their higher estimate because we hoped that by paying a premium we would get premium service. That definitely was not the case. Next time, we will go with the company that gives us the lowest bid.

I put down fair for responsiveness since I had two different people calling me concerning the arrival time, but things were straightened out in the end. The painters arrived on time (15 minutes early) of the arranged time. Carlos spoke pretty good English, so it was easy to understand him and explain what I needed done. They were good about asking me when they had questions. They even offered to paint the wooden slats on the windows, which were not actually in the contract, which I declined. They did an excellent job painting both the trim and chimney. I had not problem when I needed them to paint over part of the chimney seal since it was conflicting with the color scheme. They did a pretty good job of cleaning up, only a few paint chips that I noticed on the ground. The job lasted almost precisely as long as they expected it to. Overall they were courteous and worked hard until the job was done. I am very satisfied with the results.

Blue Door Painters provided excellent service from start to finish. They gave us a timely competitive price. They showed up precisely at 8 am with a team of well mannered painters. The job took 5 days (I think). I really appreciated that they quit when it started to drizzle outside. They were neat and orderly the entire time. I give them an enthusiastic approval rating. We will certainly use them when the interior of our house needs a fresh paint job.

The painters were very thorough. I appreciated the painters careful attention to detail. They suggested a board be replaced and showed me why. During the estimate, I was given the website for the paint because the painter explained that is was a better quality paint. Also during the estimate, I was shown a notebook with materials and references. It was very professional presentation but not pushy. During the painting, the manager asked me if I wanted the shutters painted and what color. He had not arranged for the shutters to be painted during the estimate phase (or I may have not have said yes during the estimate, I can't remember).

They came out within a week after I called to review the property; they completed the work within two weeks. They did a very nice job and were very professional. While I had to go to work the morning when they painted, the person supervising the job stayed after the job was completed until I returned (even though I was running late) to make sure I was satisfied.

They were a bit late the first day, but on time the next day. The supervisor was courteous and helpful - but he left the job on the first morning, and the person he left to do the work could not either speak or understand enough English to be able to communicate with him. To his credit, when he saw my frustration, he called the supt, who returned promptly and stayed to see the job finished. I reported this problem to the owners, so that they don't repeat that problem for others. Cleanup took some supervision from me, but eventually it was properly done. And their estimate was as much as 1/3 what others bid to do the job. So they were a very good value.

Overall it went well. There were a few days then they showed up much later than expected and some communication problems due to my poor Spanish. I was impressed, tough, with how long the crew worked and by their end result.

They did a terrific job! They were very professional, and they came on time. They worked quickly, and they cleaned up after themselves when they were done.

After giving an estimate, they came back to do the work within a couple of days. Two painters worked most of the day. They were neat and kept the area picked up. The work was done well.

Blue Door was very responsive and professional in giving us an estimate. They gave us a great price and started pretty quickly. A little water came in the house from the powerwashing, but there was no damage. They had to deal with tenants who were unwilling to let them inside the house to open windows or paint the door, so they did all of the exterior work they could, then came back in a week after the tenants left to do things that required interior access. Jeffrey at the main office was incredibly understanding and cool about the whole thing. Carlos, the on-site guy, was also very accommodating. House looks great.

It went well. They were very responsive by email. The guys came out in the time they said that they would. They cleaned up after themselves. It went really well.

They were very prompt to come and give an estimate. They had a lot of pictures to show me of jobs that they had done. They followed up with me and after I signed the contract they started work shortly after. They did a good job.

Very professional in estimate and proposal. Arrived when said. Follow up was thorough; there were a few touch ups required and they were done promptly.

I thought my contact on the phone was most courteous and extremely ethical. They were the ones who suggested refunding my deposit. It was a good experience and if I need painting I will likely call on them again.

After getting 4 estimates (3 from Angie's List), Blue Door Painters came in with the best estimate. They also referred me to an excellent design consultant, Bright Design Group, to help select the colors and designs for many of the intricate details in a Victorian House. Once painting started, the painters covered all shrubs with cloth and cleaned up after each day. As contracted, the painters also painted all iron work on the property. I am very pleased with the overall outcome.

Very positive experience with the company's representative on the phone who then came out to our house to do the estimate. The actual painters were not as pleasant -- it started out badly when the crew damaged our masonry during the pre-paint power washing. They were about to simply paint over the damage when I insisted they stop and get it fixed first. Blue Door's rep got there quickly and called in a mason to fix the damage. From then on, the painters worked quickly but were not detail-oriented or mindful of their surroundings (they destroyed 6 small bushes, and paid to replace them). But as soon as I pointed out mistakes, they were fixed and I was very happy with the end result (hence the high score for quality and responsiveness). The low punctuality grade is based on the painters' extremely early arrival each day (it's not very pleasant to be awoken by a man on a ladder outside your bedroom window at 7am).

I was very pleased. The crew worked well. and efficiently - without a break and on schedule - and were very pleasant. In some places they used more than one coat of paint to produced desired result. Also painted sills of windows which was not done the last time I had the house painted. They completed the work in under three days and cleaned up beautifully - also were tidy in their painting work - no drips or spills left. All aspects of the contract were met. I would certainly use this company again. I felt it was a good value for the price and the house looks good - the contract did not cover fine sanding which would have added considerable time.

They were very professional. Extremely punctual, courteous, and neat. Their painters spoke English. They came back to cut loose some paint that had dried 2 windows shut.

Overall I was extremely happy with Blue Door's work. From the request for a quote to the final inspection it was a very smooth and fast process. They are very responsive to both email and phone calls. Their estimate was right in line with the other estimate I received. Major difference was Blue Door offered two coats of paint while the more expensive quote only offered one. The crew doing the work was courteous and knowledgeable. The work was accomplished in 1.5 days which impressed me because of all the trim they had to replace. I insisted on the use of no-rot materials for the trim replacement and they were happy to accommodate. Bottom-line, I would hire them again.

They started immediately. One of the problem areas under the soffit turned out to be more serious than they had estimated--which didn't surprise me. It appears as though the main person responsible for the estimates does not himself visit the site, but has pictures taken. I would have preferred it if he had seen it first, but maybe that's what keeps the price so low. The team finished in three days. When I asked them to return to get some smudges off two windows, the team leader (an exceptionally nice man) returned and wiped the (second-story) windows off. Overall, they performed excellently. I would definitely use them again. I give them the highest rating.

The cleanup was fairly good. On the last day, when the on site crew thought they were finished, I pointed out that the garage still needed to be done. The garage should have been started earlier, as it had never been painted and required priming as well as multiple coats of white paint. Overall, I'm quite happy with the quality of the work, the cleanliness and cleanup, and the care the crew took in moving furniture, etc.

They gave the best bid and were the most reponsive company we worked with. Their follow up was very good, were punctual, professional and had written as well as photographic references. When I noticed the shutter paint was the wrong color, they thoroughly corrected the issue (re-painting all shutters both front and back). The only problem I had was the cleanup was not as good as I would have preferred. There were many paint chips about my property. It was easy enough to rectify however. Overall, did a terrific job and the everything looks fabulous and was to spec. Very satisfied.

Blue Door Painters did exceptional work for us and we are going to have them back to do more. When they did the porches, they were very willing and responsive to come back for a minor touch-up. We would recommend them to others with no hesitations.

They showed up on time, had a good estimate and completed in a timely manner. The clean up could have been better as they left some of the clean up for us to do. I would still hire them again due to the quality of work that they did.
