+ 5 moreThey replaced my tub and toilet. They replaced the shower wall as well. The issue is that the tile is not laid flat to the wall. I have contacted them and they came out to make repairs, however the tiles have not been fixed to satisfactory. They were quite rude and uncompromising and in fact hung up when I called to complain about these issues insisting that the job was done well.

The reason we had them come in and rebuild the shower in our master bathroom was that water was draining down from the second floor, where our master bathroom is located, down into our kitchen on the first floor. Steinhorst provided advice as to what materials we might want to consider having them install in order to prevent a future drainage problem. It turns out that some of the materials originally used to build the shower were the cause of the problem. We love the materials they recommended. The finished job looks so much better than before.
Description of Work: Over the years we have used Steinhorst repeatedly, for any and all plumbing related problems. They are terrific!!! The are so professional, and so friendly, and so reasonably priced. We wouldn't use any other plumber in the area!!! The most recent service they provided was to totally rebuild the shower in our master bathroom. What a vast improvement over the shower that was originally in our house, when it was first built.

He phoned me back very quickly and had his guy out to the house before the actual start time. Took their time to evaluate the issue and resolved it after several hours of working at it. He was honest and kept to his price even when they had to go more than a normal snake job. Steinhorst is my plumber for as long as I live in Virginia. Thanks for being a stand up company Guys!!!

+ 0 moreTwo employees came when scheduled to assess a possible issue with a floor drain from the laundry room to the main drain. They examined the problem, opened up the main drain, and using a camera fastened to the end of a snake, determined that water was flowing properly from the subsidiary drain into the main drain and that everything was in fact operating correctly. They gave me a DVD with a movie showing water flowing from the laundry room drain to the main drain, confirming that all was well. The owner of the firm, with whom I spoke on the phone, and the two employees who came to the site, were all courteous, creative and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this company.

He examined the pipe and told me what needed to be done, and quoted me a price. He fixed the pipe and made sure everything was cleaned up afterwards. This is the first time I have ever had to call a plumber in this area, and was very pleased with the service and will definitely use their services again.

+ 0 moreOverall it was a good experience, but given the price I ended up paying, I wonder if I got what I needed and not what the plumber said that I needed. The plumber got lost getting to my house, so I helped him with directions. I showed him the leaks under my sink, which came from the pipes. The plumber examined the pipes and the disposal, and came to the conclusion that I needed a new disposal. In hindsight, I should have said something, since the disposal has only been used for 2 years, but it meant having to schedule a second company, taking another day off, and having to work around the leaks for the duration, so I approved the job, which meant getting a new disposal machine. Upstairs, the toilet running and the caulking were straight jobs so I had no problem approving those. The plumber was very thorough and cleaned after himself. He told me what he was going to do, how much, and explained the warranty that covered the disposal and the other jobs. He was very kind to use a wire hanger to pull out a "snake of hair" in one of the bathtubs at no additional cost. So far, a month has gone by, and all the repairs he performed are doing well.
Description of Work: Repair the leaks under the sink, repair a toilet that ran water, and caulk seams in bath tub.

They came out in the middle of the early stages of Hurricane Sandy but took all the time they needed to ensure the job was done correctly. I highly recommend them.

+ 1 moreThe plumber was exceptional and very professional. He completed the job in less than 2 hours and everything was cleaned up after he was done. The replacement wall looked great and he did a superb job in taking care of the problem. He showed me the gravel that was embedded in the valve, which precluded the cold water from turning on. He was polite, and was extremely competent in his work. I highly recommend Steinhorst Plumbing. Nelson normally does kitchen and bath upgrades, and if I had to upgrade my kitchen or bathroom, I would definitely use Nelson. His work is excellent.
Description of Work: My shower unit had gravel embedded in the shower valve. The plumber, Nelson, came and removed debris from the shower valve. He cut access from the wall behind and installed a quick release access panel door afterwards. He shut down house water, cut both water supply lines and riser pipe out of shower valve. He removed the valve from the wall and took the gravel out of the valve body. He then reset the valve and repaired the cut pipes. He also replaced a trim plate and installed it with no additional charge.

+ 8 moreOverall the entire process went great. The crew was headed by Elvin - he was always very professional. I felt very comfortable trusting him with everything. He started each day communicating with me as to what would be done that day. When he and his crew came in they immediately placed tarp down over the entire work area and made sure to leave my house very clean at the end of each day. He was delightful to work with as well as extremely competent. He ably did all the demolition and installation and gave wonderful direction and guidance to the other team members. They also immediately fix a problem I had with water dripping in the shower. He called us in to see his progress at the end of each day and always asked if I had any questions.They worked hard each day - and a couple of days were very hot but they just continue to diligently work and get the job done beautifully and with the greatest care for quality results Both bathrooms look absolutely fabulous!! We could not be happier with the results and with the company. I have been telling all my friends and colleagues about their superior work.
Description of Work: Had the master bath completely renovated and remodeled - tile around bath, shower doors put in,accessories, tile floor, granite vanity, new lighting, and painting and medicine cabinet,. Had half bath updated with the floor, painting, pedestal sink, and new lighting..Susan, the owner, could not have been more friendly and easy to work with. She worked closely with us to pick out the products and work on the design - including recommending a fabulous accent tile for the area around the tub. While all the time keeping within the budget.Throughout the two weeks she kept in constant contact with me , came by several times to see how her workers were doing and if I was satisfied. She was very patient in answering my questions.

+ 1 moreIt was expensive job but it was worth it. They gave us a good price unlike other companies. They did a good job and finished it in two days. They did what they said they would do. They left their work clean.
Description of Work: Steinhorst Plumbing Inc. did several job for us. First was four years ago when they constructed the bathroom of the masters bedroom. They found a leak that we had for ten years. Apparently the pipe had a crack on it which goes down to our kitchen. When they took it out, it was an extra work but it was an impressive work done by them. Second was the replacement of our sewer line that was broken recently.

Description of Work: Didn't have them do the work. When I requested a quote for replacing the sewer pipe from the house to the street they were nearly 3 times the price of the two other quotes I had. They were courteous and professional, just out of my price range.

+ 5 moreI wanted to up-date some of the mechanical systems of my townhouse. For preventative maintenance, I wanted to replace some thirty-five year old plumbing. I also wanted an assessment of the condition of my townhouse. I first hired Steinhorst to replace a water heater. I didn't know its condition because no property manager had described it. But I was concerned about the water heater failing--leaks can be a terrible problem for a non-resident owner. Steinhorst gave the lowest price of the three plumbers recommended on Angie's List. Pipes at the top of the water heater were corroded. Steinhorst made two trips for the replacement because the plumbing system was not properly bonded to the electrical ground. I had Steinhorst look at condition of the whole house. Their technicians reported several items that I knew needed work, such as replacing the globe valves with quarter turn valves and armored supply lines. The owner also recommended that I investigate the extent of termite damage that was successfully treated several years ago. The owner, Craig Smith, is knowledgable and likes to chat. He makes sure that I understand his proposals and does not start work before getting clearance from me. I intend to keep using him as a property manager. My tenants like him. I like his responsiveness and the high quality of his workmen.
Description of Work: Steinhorst's very experienced staff replaced a very old water heater, replaced all globe valves with quarter turn valves, replaced some pipes that should have been replaced decades ago, and brought the electrical bonding up-to-date. Steinhorst also replaced four toilets that had not been working well with Avalance toilets. The company also uses its well qualified staff to do handyman services. We discussed repairing old termite damaged trim, and doors. The Steinhorst staff includes experienced plumbers, an very knowledgeable electrical technician, an experienced heating and air conditioning man, and an experienced carpenter and cabinet installer. Steinhorst is a great firm for out-of-state owners. The reports are reliable and the very competent staff can do all of the technical services needed to keep a house in good condition. Steinhorst's accurate reports described the condition of my townhouse clearly. The owner and I developed a long term preventative maintenance plan. In contrast, I have never had useful service from a Property Management firm. The Property Management firms that I have used have been unsatisfactory partly because their poorly trained staffs don't understand the tasks done by tradesmen and partly because the tradesmen that they have employed have done much work that I didn't authorize and am now replacing.

+ -1 moreWe had a backed up sewer. They came out immediately - cleaned the pipe and left. A week later it backed up again and they said there is no guarantee and we should have had the camera to see the whole problem. Since we had not been told about the camera in the beginning we knew nothing about it. Once the camera was sent through the system it was discovered the pipes had rotten and were broken in many places. We hired them and they came out to fix the problem and proceeded to dig up the back yard only to discover the pipe was not there. They assured us that this had never happened before filled it in having killed thousands of dollars worth of mature (30 years old) rhododendron bushes. They proceeded to the front yard and were able to finally install the new pipe. However after they filled it in the front yard would cave in. They did come back and filled in some more but never taking responsibility for the problem. I am afraid I could not recommend them for anything. Leslie G.
