Richard's Tree Service

Although several companies told us they could not remove the stump, or that it would be prohibitively expensive, Richard's tree service did it quickly, with great quality, for a good price, and was professional all the way. They have definitely earned our future business and we have already referred them to our neighbors.

They were in and out within an hour. The owner supervised the job the whole way through. It was a neat, efficient and professional job. They cleaned everything up to a "T" at the end.

We had a great experience with Richard's Tree Service ( 703 354-3667) to prune our out-of-control Cherry Tree in the back yard. This was one of many companies in Angie's List, and the company had excellent ratings and fair pricing. They came out to bid first, and we got a discount with a coupon to members of Angie's list. They called to let us know when they would arrive, and there was no requirement to be home while they did the work, although we chose to be here. The workers arrived when they said they would, and it was like watching a SWAT team work - the work with great care, precision, and surprising speed; they also brought a mulching machine and swept away or picked up every last stray leaf, and the yard was left in pristine condition! As advertised, they use an arborist for every job to make sure the job is done correctly and to answer any questions. It was very professional all around, and we highly recommend this company, and certainly plan to use them again, if needed.

He and his crew arrived when I was told they would be there. I could not believe my eyes that he took this huge tree down in 1 hour. The stump was grounded, he raked the chips and covered the mound. His crew cleaned up every last leaf in both the back where the tree was taken down and the front yard where the limbs were mulched. I highly recommend the superb service this company provided. Richard even went so far as take down a couple of dead limbs on a neighboring tree. Richard was simply a very nice person to work with and I definitely would use him again without hesitation.

A large branch from our big old maple tree came down in a storm and landed in our neighbor's small yard, practically filling the space. Even though it was in their yard (and legally their problem), we felt responsible to get it out of there. Our usual great tree service company was on vacation, so they referred me to Richard's Tree Service. I'm impressed. Due to three big storms, tree service companies were very busy. But within hours, I had a written estimate and the work was completed. My neighbor called to tell me what a great job Richard's did. They swooped in with a crew, did what tree services do to cut and remove the branch, and left the area clean, all in the same day as the morning's storm. I had sticker shock with the original price quote ($1500), but approved the job because the branch was in our neighbor's yard so quality work and getting the job done quickly was important. The price was higher than usual, I was told, because it was treated as an emergency and required moving the schedule around. When it came time to pay, I thought I would be eligible for the company's Angie's Discount, but was told that the discount didn't apply to emergency work. This proved to be a misunderstanding, which was rectified -- and then some -- almost immediately. Within an hour, I was called back with the message that Richard, the owner, would send a $300 refund check to me the same day (which he did). This brought the price to $1200, reflecting a deeper discount than the Angie's discount would have been. This is a GREAT company. From the first phone call to Kay in the office, to the estimate and interactions with Charles the arborist, to the competent team work and quality work of the crew, to Richard the owner being more than fair on price, the experience with Richard's Tree Service was a good one. Competent, professional, ethical. I'll spread the word.

Phoned for an estimate for tree removal and trimming/pruning. Estimator called promptly to schedule an appointment. Suggested an early morning. On the day and time of the scheduled appointment, he called to say he'd "overslept," could he reschedule. Said he was "just back from vacation" and was "on vacation time." Thanked him for the call, but declined his offer to reschedule.

Charles came out to do an estimate, I wasn't home but the estimate was left for my upon my return. With the Angie's List discount, they were over $100 less than another tree service I'd used before. They were delayed one week in performing the work because of the massive storm that came thru the area and there were people with trees in their houses. When I called for a new date and told them that the broken part of the tree had fallen off and was now on the ground - they came out the next day! The crew was fast and they cleaned up everything! They picked up the hundreds of apples that fell when they were taking the tree down. They were fantastic!!

They did what they said they would do and cleaned up well after themselves.

They gave us an estimate about 3 days after we initially contacted them, and the work was performed one week later. They were very careful and ensured the safety of the crew in the trees and on the ground. The trees were in a garden area. Although they weren't as protective of the garden as I would have been (they just walked on top of plants), no damage appears to have been done. They tried to clean up small branches by raking, but the area was mulched, which probably meant there weren't as thorough as they would have been otherwise. We did have to do a little clean up afterwards, but we were generally satisifed.

We couldn't be more pleased. They arrived right on time and brought all the equipment/trucks needed to perform the job. They were very pleasant, courteous and professional. They totally cleaned up all debris that resulted from their work and more so. They were very safe in their work procedures and worked together beautifully as a team.

I had three pieces of work that needed to be done. I contacted 5 different contractors and was comfortable with all but 1. Rock (Richards brother) scoped out the jobs. He ia very knowledgable (a certified arborist). Although he gave me very fair prices on all three pieces of work, but I hired them on this one only. The day after I faxed in the signed contract, they were at the property to fdo the work. All of the guys were very professional. Richard was on the job doing some of the ork himself in the trees. When we were done, I showed him some leyland cypress trees in the backj of the property that were leaning and he told us how to save them... and he actually removed one of them- a 15 footer for FREE. I have to tell you that I would call them again for my tree needs. Nice guys, good prices and pleasant to deal with. They clearly take pride in their work.

They provided a detailed estimate of the work I needed. I called back in two weeks to confirm the price and set an appointment. They arrived on time and went right to work. They were quick and efficicient. I was really impressed with how well they cleaned up the yard after they removed the one tree and trimmed the other. They laid down plywood sheets to prevent the stump grinder from damaging the lawn. The yard looke db etter when they left than when they arrived.

I called on Tuesday, and today (Wednesday), they were out taking the stand of Leylands down to the soil, and then ground down the stumps. Kay is always responsive and understood the need to get my driveway back. (The trees were bent over and obstructing half the driveway). As always, they were respoonsive, efficient, and cleaned everything up.

Richard's Tree Service was very professional and provided a fair assessment of the trees on our property. Their estimate was a little higher than others, but worth the price. They did the job on time and on budget and cleaned up all debris. Given the snow storms we have had this winter, we are very happy we had this tree work done and will likely be calling them back.

I found one other service provider whose price was lower, Richard's was not able to match their price but they did lower their original price and honor their 20% Angie's List discount. They provided us the estimate within a week. Ultimately, We are very pleased with the work. Not only did they take care of it on the day they said they would be here, they did exactly what we talked about. They left the logs where we asked and they left the site very well maintained, almost as if they hadn't been there.

Great job!!! The workers were friendly and efficient. The tree looks wonderful, and the work was done at a good price (which matched the estimate); we were given a 30% discount at the time our estimate was done (without the discount, the price would have been fair, yet higher than some of the other estimates that we got). They also did a great job cleaning up the property after the work was done. My only complaint is that they would not tell us a specific time that they would show up. They gave us a date that worked for us, yet they apparently don't schedule the order of the jobs for each day until the morning that the work is done. Not a big deal, yet something to keep in mind if you want to be at home for the work. Overall, we are quite pleased with this company, and we will use them again.

Overall the project went well, however I thought that the price was a little bit high. I would call them back out if I needed some more tree service.

Richard's Tree Service was very professional. They showed up on time and worked rapidly to complete the work. They cleaned up everything so that you could not tell they had been here. They also carefully moved a bird's nest so that it would not be damaged.

Came out the day I called to give me an estimate, Showed up on time on the scheduled day for the service. Efficiently performed the work, cleaned up, and left.

Everything went well. They sent a person out to provide advice and an estimate. I found that their advice was sound and the estimate matched the final price. A team of 4 to 5 workers came out with all of the necessary cutting and removal equipment and finished the job in approximately 1 hour. No problems.

They were very punctual and showed up on time. Their price was very reasonable as well. They did a very good clean up work. I was completely satisfied with their work.

An excellent job: they came with a bucket truck, did what we had agreed to, then did a walk-through with me and cut a few small limbs that I wanted gone. They thoroughly cleaned up after they were done.

Eight men, a cherrypicker, a chipper, a dump truck , and other assorted trucks arrived on time, and a professional arborist supervised the job. The work went smoothly and safely, the team worked well together. They told me they have worked together for many years, that there is little turnover. They were careful of other plants in the area. I was given a report on some old shingle damage from tree limb abrasion not very visible from the ground, and advised to check inside the attic for any water damage that may have occurred. The boss agreed that the old tree roots were bad for our foundation, and gave me lots of information about trees in general, and how to properly put in replacement trees, plus what kind would grow well there and not get so big. The job took about two hours. A neighbor told me I could have had the trees taken down for less than half the cost, but I am glad I chose these people who knew what they were doing, plus after checking Angie's List, the price seemed fair enough.

Rock evaluated the pruning done by another arborist in fall 2008 and explained what needed to be done. His estimate was reasonable and less than others I received. He came when he said he would and performed the work.
