Excellent customer service.
Description of Work: I contacted via email and he answered my question within minutes -- Best Buy wanted to charge me a minimum of $250 to fix a Dell netbook that cost less than that 18 months ago. I apologize but did not get the name of the person I dealt with (his email is on this site). He also responded to a second email telling me exactly what to try first to solve the problem and if that did not solve the problem, it was probably a motherboard problem that would not have been worth the cost to have the netbook fixed. I was shocked that someone would respond so quickly and give away free advice. It's nice to know there are people out there interested in good customer service even though he did not make any money off me -- at least in the short term. I would absolutely use this company again if needed and will highly recommend to friends.

It went well.
Description of Work: My computer died. Phil looked it over and said it needed to be replaced. A bolt of lightening knocked it and my modem out. I had the modem replaced. Phil came back for a second visit to set up the new computer and set up a wireless network. It was a big job. Phil phoned when he was running late for the appointment. When all the work was completed, I was very satisfied.

Due to a phone problem, contact information was lost. I was left with details of the problem but no way of contacting the member. Even the techie sometimes gets bitten by technology! In any event, I'm glad that there was a satisfactory solution. All I can do is offer apologies and hope this is a one-of-a-kind problem on my part!

I highly recommend Computer Ease!
Description of Work: I had a great experience with Computer Ease. I know little about computers and Mr. Feit explained everything and answered all my questions. Among other things, my old desk top computer needed more memory. Also, Mr. Feit worked with both my desktop and laptop to add security, coordinate/copy files, etc. Now, my old desktop computer is working better than it has in years. I have also asked him for help via e-mail and he has promptly answered and helped me, at no charge!

As a a small business myself, this man sets the standard for punctuality, honesty, customer service and communication.

Fil arrived at the set time and worked nonstop, until everything I needed/wanted done was completed. He explained to me what he was doing and instructed me on things to do to improve my computer's performance. He also used a thumb drive to copy things off my son's computer to check for problems when he got home, on his own time. He said he would call if he found any problem that needed attention.
Description of Work: Networked 4 computers together to share printers. Secured network in all computers. Cleaned out a computer so that it could run faster. Found multiple problems that were corrected on 2 computers, hardware and software issues.

It went exceptionally well. Their customer service was outstanding.
Description of Work: Replaced a dying hard drive. They showed up right on time (to the minute!), worked very quickly and kept me informed at each stage. They replaced my hard drive, copied the information I needed to the new one, and gave me a backup CD with all of my critical documents on it. I was very, very pleased and would happily use this company again and would recommend it without any reservation whatsoever. A+.

A wonderful experience. When you are clueless about something, as I am with computers, you are afraid to be taken for a ride by someone who could charge you for needless work, since you have no idea if you need it or not. That did not happen. On the contrary, Fil came with a new CD/DVD drive to install, but suggested that I just disable my drive, since the computer has another one and I do not copy CD to CD, thereby saving the cost of the part. He ran diagnostics to ensure that there was nothing else seriously wrong with the computer. He found my missing file. He suggested moving my cordless base to eliminate interference, or purchasing another filter. He was in and out in 45 minutes, and only charged me $60.
Description of Work: The CD/DVD drive on my computer was acting up, and I needed a file reinstalled so I could download another program. I was also experiencing static on my cordless phones, which I thought might be related to my DSL service. I called Fil and we set up an appointment for 2 days later (he could have come sooner but I was not available). He arrived on time and fixed everything except the static problem, though he did me suggestions on how I could fix it myself.

I contacted Mr. Feit by telephone and explained what I wanted done, discussing whether he or I would purchase the wireless router and network cards. We agreed he would purchase and I would reimburse. He was prompt for our appointment and went right to work. Setting up the network went quickly as did extracting the files from the old computer. He was able to fairly easily set up the outgoing FAX capability, but ran into a glitch to receive. After several failed attempts, I told him not to worry with it, since I was more concerned with sending than receiving faxes. Given more time, I am sure he could have resolved the problem, but it wasn't worth paying more money for a capability that wasn't sure I would ever use. He left me written information I would need to allow other computers to run on my network, and took all the wrapping and cardboard boxes with him. He also gave me his opinion about the best external hard drive and back-up software, and a place to recycle the old computer.
Description of Work: Mr. Feit installed a wireless network for my home computers, set up FAX capability on a computer, and extracted files from an old computer.

Fil was very easy to discuss my problems and desires with. He quickly checked my computer and ensured me that there were no major problems. He was unable to identify any conflicts and corrected a few minor concerns. He was more than happy to install my new wireless printer; he actually set the whole thing up right from the box, ink and all; more than I expected. He got the wireless printer up and running and then created a shared drive so I could work on my files from my laptop. I referred him to a friend the next day.
Description of Work: I was having problems with my computer locking up and rebooting. I also wanted to install a wireless printer and a home wireless network.

I really can't say enough about Fil's attitude and professionalism. As mentioned, he was supportive right from the start with detailed email messages. As for the house call, he came right on time and got everything working quickly. Clearly, he knows his stuff on both PCs as well as Macs. Fil proactively offered free email or phone support for any follow up issue or question. We were delighted with his services, would work with him again, and recommend him highly.
Description of Work: The problem began with a lightning strike that fried portions of our home network, which is a mix of Apple Macintosh and Dell PC's. Untangling it all was a mess and too long a story to tell here, but Fil helped even before making a house call by being supportive on the phone and email. Ultimately, he ended up installing a replacement network card on an old Mac and also helped set up wireless printing.

Good experience.
Description of Work: I contacted Mr. Feit about installing memory on our home computer and to do a tune-up. He responded quickly and we set up an appointment. Smoothly, professionally and above my expectations. He provided excellent communication throughout the process, kept me informed, gave me options and fixed one of them that I thought was dead forever.
Description of Work: Fixed two desktop computers, neither would fully start up, problems occurred independently. He fixed both computers, restored all data, ordered a restore disk for one computer from its parent company and provided a list of work done in detail in a file on the computers.

Installing software for a new printer caused error messages to appear on the computer. I had called a local computer services company for technical support. The company sent a tech out, the tech re-installed the software, pronounced the installation as OK, billed me and left. Less than an hour later, the error messages were back. I called the company, talked to the tech, was promised a call back and never heard from them again. I found Fil Feit on Angie's List, left a message seeking his help, received a call back that afternoon and arranged for Fil to come that evening. Fil was able to find the problem and implement a solution. He guaranteed his work. Fil is my computer tech for the future.

Fil was very polite and timely. We arranged a meeting at a mutually convenient time for him to come over and check out the machine. When he came to my house, he was very professional. He did some diagnostics there and then decided that it needed extensive work, which would be more cost-effective if he did at his office. (He charges based on his time, so at his office he can push a button to run a program and then go do something else, so he really is only charging for the time it takes to work on your machine, not the waiting time while the machine is running by itself.) I was amazed that it only cost $100 given that the computer was so completely messed up and that he must have spent some significant time getting it back to working order. He apologized for the delay, but in all we were only without the machine for 1 week, which was fine because it had been broken for so long already! I would recommend Fil to anybody!
Description of Work: Fil came over to our home to diagnose the situation. He was able to get it back connected to the Internet fairly easily, but it was still crashing almost every time he tried to reboot. He decided to take it back to his shop. While there, he first saved all of our findable data onto DVDs "just in case" it got lost during the recovery process. He then went through a usual reinstall, but that didn't work. He did something else and figured out that we had two large viruses that had replicated into 5,000 infected files on our computer. He cleaned them up, installed free spyware and free virus protection. He brought it back to our house and set it up, explaining what he did and where everything was. He also got my laptop "talking" to our desktop so that I could share files between the two computers.

In addition to the above information, the price charged was very reasonable and in fact was quite less than I had expected, given the amount of time Mr Feit invested. He was very sensitive, and even sympathetic, to the expense I was incurring. I am happy to have found a trustworthy source of support for my computer needs, at long last, after having been disappointed by all of the others, such as warranty services, manufacturer's support, pay-for-support, etc. Look at his website, and I think you will sense the kind of expertise and service he provides.
Description of Work: Mr Feit came to my home and attempted to restore my computer's hard drive. Unable to do so, he took it to his shop, where he worked diligently over the next several days to reformat it, and reinstall Windows and other key programs. Almost all of my files were no longer readily accessible but, with my prior authorization, Mr Feit used some cutting edge technology, and considerable creativity, to recover all of my critical documents and spreadsheets, and many of my other materials, such as photographs. Of course, I was very pleased with the results. But even if the outcome had not been so successful, I still would have been happy with the effort made by Mr Feit, confident that everything that could be done had been tried. He was very responsive to me, calling back within an hour of my first email to him, and that was on a Sunday morning. After that, he kept in touch by phone and email, and I never worried that my job was not getting the attention I wanted it to.

This was a great experience with this company. Very professional, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. I couldn't believe that the return call was made on a Saturday afternoon. That was is important to me as I work out of my home as a Realtor. Saturdays and Sundays are work days for us and it is important to be able to receive and respond to emails at all times. Computer-Ease will become my computer adviser from now on. They receive my highest recommendation.
Description of Work: I needed to find a Computer repair company in a hurry! The DSL provider and the computer manufacturer techs were no help with getting me reconnected to the WWW. So I went searching for a competent trouble-shooter for a balky home computer. Fil called on a Saturday afternoon after I sent him an email from my work thirty minutes before. Talk about quick response!! He got right into the problem with what seems like a lot of computer savvy. Determined that the problem was with my DSL provider and to get back in touch with them.

He arrived when he said he would and he explained every bit of what he was doing. When I looked puzzled he'd explained it better. He also left some software that we run that has stopped the problem from coming back. When I was first describing the problem on the phone, he was patient and spent a lot of time with me, trying to see if I could solve the problem myself. He didn't charge for that time. I would call him again. Hopefully, I won't have to.
Description of Work: My computer was unusable because of pop-up ads. Mr. Feit got rid of some of what he called ''bad guys''. They were apparently keeping the programs that were supposed to fix the problem from running. Once they were gone, he installed some programs that solved the problem. When I mentioned that I couldn't share files or a printer, he fixed that as well.
