Description of Work: The windows took longer to come in than promised. Some weren't measured correctly and if I didn't catch the problem and have them re-order the window, they would have installed them anyway. Most of the job was done well and the windows look good and work well. I thought there was a big gap between the sales and the actual performance of the installers.

Perhaps the best part about working so closely with Angie’s List members is that they keep us honest! We always hate to hear from anyone who wasn’t thrilled with their project, but we’d be glad to let folks know what went on with this one. First, this was a project from over a year ago. Back then we were faced with rapidly increasing demand which caused our lead times to get pushed out. We know folks don’t want to wait 3 months for their windows to be installed so we needed to hire additional installers. Being busy is a good problem to have, but it’s a problem nonetheless. We have a well defined process for hiring new installation crews, but that doesn’t mean we’re perfect. We only hire installers with at least 5 years experience and we check references from other companies. We closely supervise their first projects and scrutinize everything to make sure our customers get what they expected. Anyone who has hired someone knows that it’s not always easy. When we have someone on the team who isn’t performing we act quickly. The installer who worked on this project wasn’t able to provide the level of service we require and as a result he’s no longer on the team. Perhaps it’s helpful for the other members to hear about how we handle a situation that gets a little off track. In this case the customer had a concern so we scheduled a time for one of our managers and the installer to meet at the home and assess the situation. It turned out there were additional parts required so we ordered them up, and got the service completed. We know that nobody wants to have a service call or a delay in their project, but it is possible that an additional visit will be required. If there is a need for any additional service we’re always available to help. Our office is open nearly 80 hours per week so we’re easy to reach and we never collect the final balance until the customer is 100% satisfied. The last note we have in our system from this customer is that he was happy with the service and he would call back later that day to make his final payment. Description of Work: I used Window Universe for replacing all 19 windows in my house. The price was right and the service was great. I gave them a B in responsiveness because once I originally put money down someone was supposed to call me within 7 days to officially measure the windows which would give an installation date 4-6 weeks from the time I gave the down payment. That call did not happen for 2 weeks and it only happened then because I had called 3 times complaining that I had not heard anything. No one that I talked to on the phone seemed to know anything about it nor could they confirm or deny that the project would remain on schedule. Once the appointment was scheduled, I did not have any other issues with them concerning responsiveness and the project was completed within the original 4-6 week time frame that they had promised. I was very pleased with the installer and he did a great job. The windows are really nice and I am pleased with the overall outcome. | |My only other complaint is that the installer mentioned some options, such as special glass for the bathroom so that blinds were not necessary that I would have done had I known about it, but that is a minor thing.

Description of Work: I got quotes from three places for 16 double hung windows installed, and Window Universe had by far the best price. The quote process was straightforward and the windows were manufactured within the 4-6week window. My only complaint would be three weeks elapsed between the call informing me the windows were completed and someone would be calling to schedule installation early the following week and actually hearing from someone to schedule installation. I will say, however, this was during the holidays and once they did call, installation occurred within two days and the installation crew was AMAZING. They replaced all the windows in bitter cold conditions all while making sure they left my house clean at the end of it. The finished product is fantastic and I would definitely use them again. Hopefully all their installation crews are as good as the guys I got! The windows themselves are Revere and they are a quality product. Smooth, solid opening action. Very pleased with Window Universe.

Thanks for taking the time to write! Folks will see in a couple of the reviews that our lead times were pushed out a little bit this fall and winter. We tried our best to get everyone installed as quickly as we could, but we wanted to make sure we never sacrificed quality. Our typical 4-6 week lead times did get pushed out to 8 or so weeks this year, but things are back on track now. Our current projects are being installed in an average of 32 days so just about 4.5 weeks. We do love the way Angie's List members keep us honest! We never like to hear about a customer who wasn't happy, but we do try our best to learn something whenever things don't go as planned. This project required 2 service calls which the customer was not happy about. Those services caused the total timeline to extend farther than she wanted. We complete acknowledge that. It is important for the other members to know how we handle a project that has service calls. We will absolutely stick with you until the end. Our office is open just under 80 hours per week so we're always accessible and every project we've ever started has ended up looking great. When a service is required we don't charge anything extra (even if the service call is 10 years after the installation!) and we give that customer priority over anyone whose project has not been started. We resolve the issue as quickly as we can and we don't expect you to pay us for the project until everything is 100% complete and looking fantastic. It is important to remember that your project could require a service call regardless of which company you work with. We've been working for Angie's List members for many years and with over 300 reviews (each with a personal response) anyone considering a new project can hopefully get a pretty good idea of how we operate. We take all of our customers seriously and we work hard to make sure you LOVE the end result. We're not perfect, but I would put our track record of success up against anyone in town. Description of Work: We went back to Window Universe for the second step in our 3-part window replacement plan. The salesman was knowledgeable, professional, informative. The product is great and the price - especially with an Angie's list discount - was good too. However, there were a series of delays and postponements for which we were not prepared. We felt especially out-of-touch between the sale and the measuring. All together, from sales to completion, this 5-window replacement took over 2 months. So we'd recommend if you are not in a hurry!

We love repeat customers! Regarding the timing for new projects, our custom window and door orders are typically completed in 4-6 weeks, but it absolutely is possible that something could take a little longer. We work very hard to keep the lead times down as we know folks always want their new windows as quickly as possible. The demand for these products fluctuates over the course of a year so there are times when it can take a bit longer and times when things run a bit faster. We do try to focus first on keeping up the level of quality even if that means we need to let the timing slip a bit. We would certainly rather your project take 2 weeks longer than expected, but look great and never give you any trouble. Description of Work: They replaced 17 windows. The work was completed in one day. The windows look great and operate well. We've received compliments from neighbors. Their cost was far more reasonable for equivalent Energy Star windows than other local companies which spend a fortune on advertising and pass that expense on to consumers.

Description of Work: The first time they installed the new window it wasn't done correctly so I had them come out a few times to correct it and they did. No one is perfect, all you can ask for is someone who can correct their mistakes when they make one which Window Universe did. I would use them again on my next window project.
