In July 2009, an arborist met us on site to discuss our damaged tree and the recommendation for it. He also discussed with us the new tree we wanted planted and other stump grinding on the property. We were led to believe all this work would be done at one time or close together. Care of Trees came fairly promptly to remove the tree. However, they did not grind the stumps or plant the new tree. After several days, we called and asked when the additional work was going to occur. In this time, we also received a bill for all work, even work that was not performed. When I called about the bill, the receptionist indicated to pay only the portion of the work performed and that the arborist never put in the request for marking utilities and they couldn't grind stumps until the utilities were marked. In addition, trees were planted in the fall. This was the first we heard that our new tree would not be planted until the fall. Our arborist called back about the stump grinding, apologized for the miscommunication and got someone on site in the next couple of days. However, they never got the utilities mark and didn't grind all the stumps they were suppose to, so my husband had to call them to get them to come back which they did on the same day. We paid the second bill but still had an outstanding order for the new tree. September and October came and went without hearing from Care of Trees about our new tree, so we were at a nursery purchasing some other trees and decided to purchase the replacement tree, Care of Trees was suppose to install. As I assumed, we would hear from Care of Trees before they came to install, I never called them to cancel the order. We had the nursery tree installed where we wanted the Care of Tree installed....Then at the beginning of December, my husband came home from work, let the dogs out into the fenced back yard and went to listen to the phone messages. At 9:30 am that day after we left for work, our arborist called indicating that they would be installing the new tree that day. 3 hours later was another message talking about the care of our new tree and that they would be back in a week to fertilize it. We had LESS than two hours notice of when Care of Trees was going to be on our property installing a new tree. When Care of Trees arrived to install the new tree, they didn't attempt to contact us about the fact that there was already a tree in the location we'd discussed planting the tree. They just planted the tree 15 feet way and left. My husband immediately went to check our gate (that is always closed) and Care of Trees left the gate open and now our dogs are running around the neighborhood. It took my husband 2 hours to round up the dogs. Now we have a tree we don't want, in a location that doesn't work, hours wasted chasing our dogs around the neighborhood and very poor communication with Care of Trees. My husband and I spend some time discussing what we wanted to do. In this time, Care of Trees came to fertilize our new tree. They left the gate open AGAIN. Fortunately, our dogs did not get out that time. At this point, we were very angry at the lack of communication on Care of Trees side. To show up and perform work, although authorized, but that hasn't been discussed in 5 months without at least 24 hours notice is unprofessional. To plant a tree in a location that was not discussed without any attempt to contact the home owner is also unprofessional. To leave a closed gate open (twice), without notice of being on the property is reckless. We wrote a letter to manager of the Care of Trees Alexandria office to try and rectify the location of the new tree and explain our side of thing. We received a very unprofessional letter from the arborist (no letter head) apologizing and saying that they couldn't take the tree back or move it for us due to the expense of the labor involved. They offered to do a year of free fertilization for our trees and shrubs. As we did not want this or for them to be on our property again so we left as is. The arborist also apologized for the gate and said they have "meeting" about closing the gates and endeavor to do so. Obviously these meetings don't work as our gate was left open twice. We were very disappointed in the communication and professionalism of Care of Trees. The maple tree they planted was a very nice specimen and is doing very well.

The price was reasonable. They were clean, professional and were on time.

Their estimator/arborist arrived exactly when scheduled and provided a quote, which was $400 - $1000 less than competing quotes. They have a great reputation locally so I contracted with them. The tree removal team arrived when scheduled. They were extremely professional and brought in extra equipment when it became clear that the tree struck by lightning wasn't safe to climb. The entire neighborhood came out to watch the process as they used a crane to lift the tree over my house. The process took about 6 hours (excluding stump griding, which took place another day), and they picked up all of the debris in my yard and on the street. I would highly recommend this company.

The woman that came to give me the estimate was on time and seemed very knowledgeable. The workers were punctual and did a professional job. They cleaned up the area - you would not know they had been there. Overall, I am very satisfied with the company.

They did an absolutely wonderful job. We use them very often and they are wonderful. They have an arborist who is just fabulous. They know what they are doing. We have one tree in the front that they have been taking care of for about ten years now. We have used them forever and we highly recommend them. They are a little high pricewise, but they are really good. You may get it cheaper from the guy who cuts your trees but you may not get the quality. They are very professional. You are getting an arborist. You are not getting somebody who just cuts trees. We use them regularly every year and will continue to do so.

I would not rule out using this professional tree service in the future if the price was right.

They always come when they say they will and do the work when they say they will. They have always been helpful answering questions and offering suggestions. We'll continue to use them.

It went fine. They are very good. They come when they say they will. They do what they say they will do. They are arborists, and no cut trees without damaging them and they are reasonably priced. They cleaned up very well.

I like that they do not just come out and chop the trees, but they really know the trees. I like that I can call them and they will send an arborist out to look over my trees. I work with the arborist in my area to care for my trees. They are not cheap, however they are expert. I would rather pay for the quality of their work and knowledge than pay for someone to just come out and chop my trees up. It has been hard to find someone who is comparable to their quality. I think that their prices are fair. They are responsive to me and they have a nice web site.

On Monday I called the company to to request a quote for the service. I was informed that the person who service my area was busy for the next couple of days but would be available Friday at 7:30 AM to show up and give me a quote. I asked if it was possible that the person could come by while I was not there and give me a quote. I was told I must be present during the initial visit. After I made the appointment I was then told the person who serviced my area was going on vacation starting the next week and would be gone for a while. On Wednesday, the person who serviced my area called and told me that it would not be convienent for her to come to my property at that time, and could we reschedule for two weeks later after I got back. I informed her that I would like to have the information as soon as possible. She told me she would stop by and survey the work done while I was not home and call me with a quote. I have never heard back from the company and did not appreciate making an appointment and then having it cancelled on me. The person who serviced my area also had an attitude that I was not that important to her. I will not be doing business with this company in the future.

They are a fully professional tree care firm that has arborists on staff. They don?t just do tree maintenance, but they make all the recommendations for what should be done. They can consult on very unusual and technical items. They are incredibly responsive. Their plans are convenient for ongoing maintenance.

The aborer explained everything. She was knowledgeable and everything was done as she said it would be. It took a month longer to start, but there were storms so it was not their fault. Everything about them was great. So friendly and fast. Cleaned everything up when they were finished.

They did a fine job. They told us when they would be here and they were here on time to do the job. They did a good job with the clean up after they were done.

Job 1: We had used them in the past. They did an excellent job before and the work was very good again. They are a big company with the right equipment and the proper insurance to cover any damages or injured workers. Job 2: We have used this company before. They arrived as scheduled and completed the work in a timely and professional fashion.
