SOS Appliance Repair and Service LLC

I have now had SOS Appliance come out to my house twice with outstanding results. They have been very prompt, courteous, professional and fair. They are obviously making great efforts to be customer friendly. I recommend them highly.

The tech said he didn't work on many machines like mine because it not that old. Therefore, he said he didn't know what was wrong with it and had no idea. He told me when he get back to the office he will do some research and get back to me, of course I never heard from them again. I paid $85.00 for absolutely NOTHING!

Another company wanted to charge me almost $300 for (unnecessary) repairs, but they treated me terribly over the phone so I dropped them and called SOS. Raouf came and he was excellent! Fast and thorough. Plus, I didn't need those repairs the other guys wanted to do. I just needed to use less detergent and clean the machine from time to time, saving me hundreds! SOS and Raouf will be my first call from now on!

The work was done efficiently and professionally. Both technicians were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend them and use them in the future.

It was Sunday evening when we found our refrigerator wasn't working and the freezer compartment had warmed to 38 degrees. Not able to do much about it at that time, by Monday we were looking for an emergency fix, and found SOS Appliance Repair - they focus specifically on quick emergency repairs. NOTE: Initially I had difficulty reaching them because the telephone number listed on the AL website (703) 468-0433) is WRONG. If you want to reach them, call 301-693-9700, 703-224-4000, or 202-386-7272! I found these numbers online. I have informed them of the error; they were surprised and will correct it. Back to the story: I called them about 8:30 AM and was told they could send someone that afternoon between 1-4. Raouf and Simon arrived about 2, pulled the fridge from the wall, and immediately found the problem - the "inverter" had burned out and needed replacement. At that point we were fearing the worst -- needing to order a part, waiting another day or more, while the contents of the fridge (tho packed in coolers) could be lost? However, they placed a call about the part, and told us they'd get it and be back about 5 pm to install it. They reappeared right on time and the appliance was up and running again by 5:30. This quick appliance service was exactly what we needed; SOS charges a $60 fee for the initial diagnostic call, but they credit that against the final cost of parts/labor.

Being stuck with a full load of clothes where the washer wouldn't drain, I needed to find someone quickly to fix the problem. After calling a couple of places I spoke to SOS. They had a technician come out the same day (Wednesday) to identify/confirm the problem. Because of my schedule, he came back today (Thursday) to install the new switch. Before he left on Wednesday he was able to get things temporarily running to drain the washer which was much appreciated. Fast, efficient, pleasant team to work with. If I have a problem in the future SOS will be my first call.

Work was scheduled same day and completed easily. Technician called 20 minutes ahead and arrived within the first hour of the 3 hour window. Had parts on hand and technician was polite and professional (Raul I believe).

The freezer in my refrigerator had been leaking as accumulated frozen water at the bottom slowly melted, dripped, and pooled on my kitchen. I first called Bray & Scarff, where we bought the fridge 2 1/2 years ago, but they said it would cost $99 just to come to our house (not including the repair), and they couldn't even come out for 2 weeks. So I tried Angie's List and found SOS. SOS could come the very next day and their $59 house call was credited toward any repair. The repairman did an excellent job. After being given a time window of 2-5 pm, the repairman arrived around 3:30 and quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken drain. It would cost $229 to fix -- by no means cheap, but he did honor the $50 coupon from Angie's List, bringing the total down to $179. It was also a far bigger job than I'd anticipated, and I feel the price was more than fair. Overall, it was a good experience -- everything works beautifully and the whole experience with SOS was easy and low-stress. I plan to use them again.

They came out the next morning (Friday) to diagnose the problem, which was a malfunctioning control board on the fridge. They ordered the part and were back Monday evening to replace it. In short, they were super responsive, completed the job quickly, and the technician was friendly, too. Great work!

He came and he was late. He diagnosed my refrigerator. He told me everything that I needed. He told me that I needed to replace a compressor, put in refrigerant, evac the system, and that he needed to replace another piece in the system. He told me that it would be about $3500 to do. He told me that when got back to the office that he would look up all the parts and give me the exact cost it would take to repair. He told me that it would be around the $3500 but no more than $4000. A week later I called him and talked to the office administrator. He told me that he was still working on the estimate. He said that he would have him call me and I told him just to email me the estimate. I waited another week and he never responded. I called another company and they diagnosed the problem. They told me that I had a leak in one of my lines. They told me that everything else was good. He charged me $220 and most of it was labor/service call. He fixed it in less than 30 minutes. It has been working great ever since. SOS refused to give me my money back for the service call. He misdiagnosed the problem all together. I had to call my credit card company to file a complaint as SOS never responded.

SOS was first available appliance repair company. SOS told me when I called on Thursday, after I told them the model number of the washing machine, that the service technician likely would have the gasket and overflow tray on the repair truck. (A different repair company told me that it was unlikely any other company carried the gasket in the van; rather, I should expect that the part(s) had to be ordered.) SOS Service technician, Beshir, called before he came on Friday, and came within the appointed time. Beshir didn't have the parts, but said that he would order them, they would likely be delivered the next day (Saturday), and he would install them Saturday. He quoted a price for the repair and the new tray. Beshir called Saturday to confirm that the parts had been received; he came and, with another technician, installed the gasket and replaced the overflow tray. Replacing the tray turned out to be rather time consuming because the builder had not properly installed the existing overflow tray; Beshir had to work extra hard to get the pieces to fit properly. The washing machine is in a tight space, so he had to climb over it several times in his efforts to get the proper cuts to make the pieces fit. He persevered, and they completed the job and cleaned up everything. Beshir made a slight mistake in hooking up the washer (switching hot and cold water), and we didn't notice it at the time. However, he returned promptly to fix the error when I called. No harm; no foul. I would definitely use them again.

Scheduled a visit for the next day and gave a window of 2-5pm. He showed up right at 2pm and even called first to say he was on his way over. Worked very efficiently to identify the problem with our fridge. Very professional and polite.

The repairman was very professional. He arrived on time and worked quickly and quietly. He explained exactly what he did and how I could expect the refrigerator to preform in the future. I was extremely happy with the experience and would highly recommend SOS Appliance Repair.

It was OK, I don't think that I would purchase something like that again. I felt like he did a superficial job of checking things. He did replace a part on my dryer, wish cost extra, and then he lost my check, he eventually found it. There were a lot of little issues. I felt he was unprofessional, and he called me and asked if I could write him a new check. He was very nice.

Took several visits but ultimately they sent a very competent repair tech and got it done right.

I liked the fact that the technician called to confirm the price before he ordered the part. He was very professional, he even removed his shoes before coming into my home. Thank you again SOS.

Very smooth was able to fix the refrigerator and needed parts were available.

Told us to get a new dishwasher rather than fix a small issue with the pump. Lazy. And not thorough.

We had some challenges getting the appointment scheduled, however, once there, they did a solid job. We were getting our townhouse ready to rent and wanted to have the major appliances checked out beforehand. The individual was prompt and professional. Job went quicker than I anticipated.

Over a weekend, my freezer stopped freezing and the refrigerator began to get warm. On Sunday, I left a message for SOS to call me ASAP on Monday. They did! We arranged to meet at my house on Monday afternoon. The compressor relay was diagnosed as the problem and promptly repaired. The whole service call took no more than 30 minutes. It was an expensive repair, but way cheaper than a new refrigerator. And I was so grateful that they came on the same day I called, so that everything I had saved from the frig and freezer that was stored in coolers could be put back right away. The service guy was very professional and friendly. I would use them again for sure.

IT DID NOT GO WELL, The SOS Appliance Technician was courteous and arrived on time. However, he completely mis-diagnosis the problem and he never provided a written estimate for repairs. He told me that the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced, which would be a major repair job (according to him), He also told me that he would provide me with a written estimate for parts and labor by the next day (16 Jul), as he needed to get the price for anew compressor. I paid for the service call and provided him my contact info for sending the estimate. After not hearing from him, I called back on 18 July to get an update on the estimate and was informed that the Technician was still working on the estimate and that he would have it completed by 20 July and would email it to me. Not sure why it would take 5 days to do an estimate. At first, I was told that they had no record of a Technician coming to my house. It would have been nice if they had followed up with me to provide an update,especially since they had my contact information. SOS Appliance Technician got it completely wrong. After not receiving an estimate and not hearing back from SOS Appliance for more than a week and not having a working refrigerator, I contacted another repair company in Woodbridge,VA on 22 Jul. They 2nd Technician tested the compressor and determined that nothing was wrong with it. After further testing, he found a leak in the cooling system, which caused all the Freon to leak out, and not work properly.He showed me the area where the leak occurred, He provided a written estimate the same day and we accepted it. SOS Appliance Management stated that they contacted me and provided me with an estimate. They never contacted me and did not provide me with estimate. Its been more than two weeks and still no response from them. One of the worst customer experiences we've had.

They said it wasn't worth repairing the dishwasher and I bought a new one. They checked the other appliances as well.

We bought an Angie's list deal which entailed a check up and servicing of kitchen appliances, a washer, and a dryer. The entire appointment was not very long which would be my only criticism. However, our washer had been making an unusual noise, and the technician diagnosed it. Apparently it was the transmission beginning to fail. Rather than recommend an expensive repair, he was honest and told us that we would be better off with a new, modern washer. I thought this demonstrated the professionalism of the company. We would call them for repairs in the future.

SOS was one-stop shopping for my appliances: (1) dryer not hot enough (clogged exterior vent); (2) broken tray on refrigerator (purchase and installation of new part); and (3) damaged ignition and harnesses for my Five-Star stove. I used the deal for the first repair, but then they solved other problems in a subsequent visit. Fair price and excellent service.

My first contact was great--I called yesterday and set up an appointment for today. He gave me a window from 10-12 and said that I should expect the technician at the early side of that window. By 12pm, no one arrived. I called the number I called yesterday to follow up and received a recording that the number was "temporarily disconnected." I couldn't believe it and tried several more times to make sure I had the number right. Then I found their website, and I found a DC number (I had been calling the VA number). I spoke to someone who said that he would check and get back to me. 30 minutes later with no response, I called the DC number back. And got a recording that the number was "temporarily disconnected." I then tried the MD number listed on the website and got the same recording. As I sat there in disbelief, the recording played out--that the number was "temporarily disconnected"--several times, and then it gave me the option to leave a message in a voicemail box. In other words, it seems like the entire recording is fake and they use this as their outgoing message on their voicemail. I didn't bother leaving a message--if that's your outgoing message, I don't get the impression you expect any voicemails or check it. I am very disappointed and will be asking Angie's List to refund my payment.
