The provider was extremely repsonsive to any concerns we had, met with us on multiple occasions to make sure things were going well and also ensured that everything was closed out in a timely manner.
Description of Work: GBC Kitchen and Bath was responsible for remodeling the kitchen in my arlington home. It's a fairly small kitchen, but they came up with a design that greatly expanded the cabinet space that we had as well as moderminized the look. The new kitchen looks great and we can't believe what a difference it makes in the overall look of the house.

One year later my kitchen is still not remodeled. I went with a reputable provider on Angie's List that had an A rating. I don't feel comfortable with GBC so I can't make a recommendation for a kitchen remodel. Maybe I will go to Reico or Home Depot or Lowes and I am burned out from a process that was supposed to be painless.
Description of Work: The provider, GBC (Rockville, MD) came to measure my kitchen for a full kitchen remodel. After several weeks (he stated to stop by in two weeks) I stopped by the Rockville showroom to meet with designer. He was not there so I came back again and he was not there again only a secretary. I finally realized he goes to appointments so I called and left messages to meet and go over my kitchen design (third trip). About 3-4 weeks elapsed and he met me at the showroom. I was very upset since the design did not include the self-standing stove with built in microwave that I had requested. He changed the design to include self-standing oven and we changed a few other details (the details he had taken notes on during our 1 1/2 hour in-home measurement) but the design looked incorrect since it included only 12 inches next to the stove. I stated I was very puzzled since I have a wall oven which is going to be a food pantry and a big space next to my refrigerator (an empty space), so why wouldn't I have a large area for food preparation next to my new stove. He then gave me a price which did not include the bells and whistles that I had asked for like pull-out drawers, matching door front, etc. It also did not include the price of the kitchen floor (total quote for galley kitchen $22,000 and it did not fall in the range of the advertised price). I asked for the price of the floor but expressed concern that the kitchen design was incorrect due to wrong measurements so I wanted a new design. He would not give me the measurements but I stated if you don't give me the measurement for the wall on the side the oven I can't go home and check your measurement. I went home and sure enough he used the width of the kitchen so the wall was measured incorrectly (he used a lazier so I don't know what happened). I called to complain to the owner but the designer called back instead and stated his work was wrong due to a family emergency and he would like to start over. However after almost two months I could not go back since the showroom did not include my kitchen ($7000 - $16,000 range) and it was confusing which manufacturer to select the cabinets for my new kitchen. I was told 3 of the cabinet manufacturers were discontinued but the displays were still there. It is confusing to know what price is included in the price (soft closed drawers, drawer fronts, flooring and so on). I did not feel comfortable in the showroom and since I did not want to hurt the designers feelings, I stated I would contact him in a few months.

We met with them and told them what we wanted done. Our master bath was already demolished so it's a blank canvas. They promised to email us with an estimate, but we've heard nothing back thus far. I called them this morning inquiring about the estimate and if they were even interested in working for us. The person on the phone took my name and phone number and no one hasn't called. I'm moving on to find another company. These people are not responsive. I wouldn't know anything about their service or price since they never responded. UPDATE: I spoke with Koksal and Osman. They were very nice and apologetic. It turns out there was a miscommunication regarding my estimate. They both called me to apologize and sent an apology via email. I got the estimate within minutes. They have a reasonable price, but we are still getting other estimates and will make a decision soon.

I thought it went well. They were punctual and very professional. Osman and Faud came out to look at our master bathroom that was already demolished so it's a blank canvas.Osman promised to email us an estimate. No one has not contacted us. I called the company this morning at 8:30am EST and the gentleman took my name and phone number to have Koksal call me. Thus far, no response or estimate from the company. Also, when I set up the appointment I called both United and GBC thinking I was setting up an appointment with different companies. Turns out they are one in the same. They promised to email me the appointment confirmation which didn't happen. We thought this company would be excellent to work with, but we will never know since they haven't responded to us. UPDATE: I spoke with Koksal and Osman. They were very nice and apologetic. It turns out there was a miscommunication regarding my estimate. They both called me to apologize and sent an apology via email. I got the estimate within minutes. They were very nice and respectable. They have a reasonable price, but we are still getting other estimates and will make a decision soon.

We had such a positive experience with GBC when they renovated our kitchen. They were great to work with and the quality of their work was outstanding. Professional, highly skilled, they were on budget and completed the work within the time frame given. We absolutely love our beautiful new kitchen and we are confident in recommending GBC and look forward to working with them again in the future.

It went really well. I do like the fact that two people came and took measurements. I also liked that they doubled checked all their measures to create a sketch of the kitchen as it's currently modeled and the how we would like for it to be remodeled. Though we haven't received a quote yet (they expressed upfront that they would be busy and may not get us one as soon as we would like), I did want to provide a review based on what I saw. If that is how the come to a meeting to gather what they need for an estimate, I can imagine that they do a great job. We have decided to go with another contractor, through no fault of United KB.
Description of Work: They came to my home to survey the kitchen for a remodel.
The entire renovation was extremely successful. GBC was one of three companies that we requested a proposal from and decided this company would be the best. When we met at the Alexandria showroom we were helped with our color choices for the tile, cabinets, floor, and knobs and I would add without pressure. Our contract manager and crew manager were top notch. Each area of construction was professionally completed and questions we had were resolved immediately. The additional crew members were very polite and cleaned up after each work time. I would like to add that the second showroom is called United Floors, Kitchen, and Bath in Rockville, MD. and the same crew works there as well. We chose the Alexandria location because of where we live.
Description of Work: Renovation of kitchen. This involved removing the old kitchen cabinets, and moving to newer space in home. This newer space required new electrical, plumbing, and venting. In addition new cabinets, wood flooring, and tile. Silestone was the counter top. The old area where the kitchen existed was transformed with a larger window, wooden floors, and cabinet with granite top. The ceiling, walls, doors, and trim were painted.

I was promised a gift certificate if I gave a good review, but that is not why I'm rating them highly. They really did do a good job and I love my kitchen. I feel I got quality materials at a good price, and the workmanship was very high. Like with any home remodel, I watched the work very closely. There were several problems but they were all rectified quickly when I called the problems to their attention. They are also just plain nice people, which is important when you have strangers working in your home.

GBC replaced our entire kitchen, removed a wall, put in an island, and moved and upgraded our electrical panel. The price was very competitive and the contractors were very hard working. I cannot really rate this company high enough. You need an A++ rating or something. It has been @ a year since this company finished our kitchen. They were prompt. They were polite. The quality of their work was outstanding. They held my hand through the whole thing (It was our first kitchen reno). Kamil was our awesome foreman/manager. Carlos did the imaginative, beautiful heavy work. He was relentless in his quest to find solutions. The design was so sharp, classic and understated (Lisa A. was our initial designer who drew up the plans, picked appliances w/me, listened to my whinge-ing) Then came our other designer, Lurisa, who has the patience of a SAINT-- How do you keep everyone on the same page? Family. This is a family business--you can feel the pride in their work. The results were beautiful for us. They came in ON budget, a little delayed on time (through the fault of suppliers, only) A 3 month kitchen reno was like a walk in the park with them.
Description of Work: We had a total remodel of our kitchen--
After we purchased our condo in Sept 2013 we went to a home show to get some remodeling ideas and that's where we met Koksal. We interviewed several companies and decided to give GBC a chance. We set up an appointment the next week with Koksal to get an estimate on a kitchen remodel. Koksal was thorough and offered several ideas for our new kitchen space. Within a day or so Koksal had a proposal sent over for our review. We were impressed with the estimate and the follow up communication from Koksal. After reviewing 3 other offers we decided to use GBC for our kitchen remodel. The other 3 companies didn't even come close to GBC's proposal when we compared them side by side. Over the next couple of weeks we met with Koksal to go over the color schemes and styles, and got a chance to visit the granite warehouse to examine the different types of granite ourselves. During the process we had several questions, since this was our first kitchen remodel, and Koksal was able to handle every question professionally. After all of our questions were answered, we signed the contract with GBC for kitchen cabinets, flooring, backsplash and countertops. We agreed on a date for the cabinet delivery and granite installation and they delivered on both of them. Our parents recently visited our condo and loved our kitchen. We were inspired to write this review because sometimes good work and a good product can go unappreciated. Thanks GBC. I would recommend GBC, and in particular, Koksal, to anyone looking for a quality kitchen remodel.

We used United's sister company, GBC of Alexandria, VA, to remodel our kitchen, and they did a terrific job. (We posted a separate review of GBC on Angie's List). During the process, we also visited United's showroom in Rockville several times, as this location turned out to be somewhat closer to our house. The staff at United were very helpful in answering all of our questions regarding the materials and providing samples for us to take home. They were extremely courteous, knowledgeable and professional, and we would definitely consider United for future projects. Koksal is involved with both companies; he is a terrific designer and gives outstanding customer service.
GBC salesman Koksal came out to measure, see the spaces, and discuss what we wanted to do. He was incredibly helpful in selecting the new cabinetry, tile, and granite. They have cabinet samples, various tile samples, and a nearby granite showroom/warehouse. By asking a few questions, he was able to narrow down the number of samples we needed to look at, yet we had an ample selection. The process was so easy which we appreciated since that had been one of the reasons we had been putting this project off. Next, Koksal gave us a pretty detailed estimate with various allowances for things like the exhaust fan, toilets, tub, etc. He provided us with a website that they often use which has everything you need at very reasonable prices. The website is easy to use and we were able to select all of our fixtures in a reasonably short time. The only things we could not pick out were the exhaust fans as we did not know what size/dimensions would work in our two situations. Koksal did that research for us and selected an excellent fan. Prior to starting work, the GBC team came out again to review the job and we determined mirror sizes that they would purchase and have framed to match the cabinetry. Work started on time as scheduled on Jan. 21, 2014. Tearing out the old stuff is a dirty job, but they laid down tarps and tried to keep dust, etc., to a minimum. The work went forward very well until we got to installing the exhaust fan in the hall bathroom. At first it didn't seem like it was going to fit, but Daniel and the construction manager figured out how to move it a bit, allowing it to fit. The next big hurdle was installing the cabinet in the master bath and connecting the drain without having to cut through the cabinet drawers and several of the sides - this was an issue because of the way the builders had installed the drain. Again, Daniel and the construction manager figured out a couple options. They were very open about pros and cons of each including the additonal cost for one of the options. We selected the more costly but definitely superior avenue, and it was accomplished ASAP. The next surprise and hurdle was the installation of the new exhaust fan in the master bathroom. This time there was no way the one ordered was going to fit - the allotted space was just too narrow. With the old one out and actual measurements for the space, Koksal found one that would fit and provide good CFM airflow. It took a few days for the new fan to arrive and this was really the only delay we experienced. When the work was completed, we were told to spend a couple days looking everything over and using the space and drawing up a punch list for any final adjustments. As it turned out, we were able to do this while waiting for the exhaust fan to arrive so the few minor things on our punch list were taken care of the day they installed the fan. We did have to make one call for someone to come back and that was to adjust a drawer which wasn't closing properly; this just took a couple minutes for an adjustment to the drawer slide. Overall the work took a bit longer than we anticipated due to some bad weather (snow storms) and the delay in getting the fan, but as far as disruptive days go, probably 10 to 14, which is what we expected. It has now been 2 months and I'm still amazed at how these 2 rooms were transformed. We love our new bathrooms! My favorite features are the large tiles in the tub area going all the way to the ceiling, the warm wood tones of the higher 35 inch height cabinetry, the much improved exhaust fans, the granite countertops, and the new lights and mirrors.
Description of Work: Remodel hall bathroom and partial remodel of master bathroom. The remodel of the hall bathroom included replacing all fixtures (tub, sink, toilet, towel bars, shower curtain rod, light, mirror, and exhaust fan), replace wall cabinet and vanity and install granite vanity top, new tile flooring, removal and replace of tile around the tub, and painting of ceiling and walls. Partial remodel of master bathroom included replacing toilet, sink, light fixture, mirror, exhaust fan, replace wall cabinet and vanity and install granite vanity top, and painting.

Project took about 2 months and we were very happy with the quality of the work, staff's punctuality, cleanliness, and workmanship. Koksal the owner was great to negotiate and work with. He presented a detailed proposal and was flexible throughout the project, accommodating our additional requirements/extra work. We completely remodeled our master bath and the hall bath and they both turned out great! Thanks United Kitchen & Bath, and Koksal!
After receiving seven proposals to remodel our master bedroom (12x14) we chose GBC Kitchen and Baths. What great decision that was. GBC was one of the few companies that offered one stop shopping. Louisa Berry was our sales representative, who performed the initial proposal, guided us through the selections of all materials, designed the project, and was the overall project manager. She was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the project and was always available to assist us during the project. She knew what we wanted to achieve and helped us select each item and was able to make suggestions which greatly helped the project go from conception to completion. Except for the demolition when there was a third worker, Fernando and Victor were the principle workers and Faouz was the job supervisor. Each was very professional and knowledgeable about their craft. They left the job site and our home clean every day and they made sure that everything that we requested was done and done well. GBC gutted the bathroom, removed existing cabinets and fixtures, installed tile floor, tile in the shower enclosure, cabinets, fixtures, frameless shower enclosure, granite countertops, and painted the entire bathroom.

Description of Work: I used GBC FLOORS KITCHEN AND BATH
It was a pleasure dealing with GBC from start to finish. Everyone involved was very personable and professional, beginning with our designer, Koksal. He came to our home, discussed our needs and expectations, took measurements and followed up promptly with an itemized proposal, complete with design drawings. It was so helpful to have all of this information as a starting point for the project and was the most complete proposal we received from any of the contractors we interviewed. Koksal was extremely patient and helpful as we worked to finalize the design and the scope and details for the remodel. We added some things to the project after it started, and GBC was very accommodating. The workers who did the remodel were skilled and respectful of our home and kept us informed each day about the work they were doing. There were some materials delays beyond GBC's control, but other than that everything proceeded on schedule. I am a perfectionist, and GBC did everything necessary to ensure I was 100% satisfied down to the last detail. They did a great job at a reasonable price. Our new kitchen is beautiful, and we we love it!

GBC remodeled our kitchen and one of the bathrooms about 3 years ago. We have a small kitchen, but after the remodel we definitely gained more space and the usage was amazing. Bathroom is impressive too. They took out the bath tub per our request and installed very elegant shower. This year in September, GBC remodeled our other bathroom. It felt good working with a familiar place we have had in our house before. Osman, the same supervisor we had with our earlier project, made all necessary arrangements to start our bath remodel. We got good help though through out the material selection. There was just a little delay due to the shower glass, which was on back order of the vendor. But as soon as GBC received the remaining items, the job was done in no time. Osman told us that GBC had to increase its technical and office staff, because they have been busier then ever. We were not surprised to hear that, as they really know what they are doing. GBC not only makes very efficient suggestion, but also understand the customer needs and heads towards satisfaction from the beginning on with its well trained staff. Customers who are looking for quality rather then inexpensive work, definitely should consider GBC. We are getting an estimate for a new sun room addition now from Osman. This project should take 3 weeks Osman says, and we may have it done before the end of the year or postpone it to next Spring... lets see. We can only recommend GBC, after all they did for us and keep referring them to our friends and family.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of master bathroom including removal of old shower base, wall tiles etc. House is built in 1956 and this bathroom was remodeled by the previous owners more than 10+ years ago.
