+ -1 moreI visited Robin in his office before I signed the contract. I liked him and his partner so much I was prepared to pay the full quote instead of the required deposit. On agreed date and time Abel and Carlos showed up with smiles on their faces and honestly did not stop smiling all the way to the end. Moving is not a pleasant experience but these two guys made it as pleasant as it could be. Everything went smoothly. I had sent them a detailed email with pictures and info about the furniture, the number of boxes and the place. Because of this, there were neither misunderstandings nor issues. From MD to VA (65 miles) the whole process took less than 4 hours. I must also mention that another local company whom I previously contacted with the same info, quoted twice the amount claiming it was long distance and interstate. Also added $90 extra to the quote for ''gasoline overcharge!''

+ -1 moreVery well. Two man crew was early and worked 8 hours for what was supposed to be a 6-hour job. They even moved loose things that I had been planning to do myself. I was exhausted from packing and they were super helpful and nice. Price quoted was what they charged even though I believe I had more boxes than I originally estimated. They were hard workers, efficient and courteous. Additionally, all the details of setting up the move were handled by Robin and Cindy in the office. Great communication!
Description of Work: Moved contents of 3 bedroom 2-story townhouse to another 2-story townhouse across town. Several pieces of large heavy furniture and about 3 dozen boxes, with dis-assembly and re-assembly of queen-sized bedframe and large wall shelving unit required.

Robin (co-owner) was so accommodating - we didn't have a firm closing date but he worked with us to make sure they could provide us excellent service. The actual movers were on time and very professional. Their estimates were precise, clear, and the least expensive of the 4 estimates that we got. The moving crew was terrific. They showed up a little early. Can't beat that. They were courteous, eager to make sure that they were doing exactly what we wanted, and exceptionally careful about packing and moving our items. Nothing was damaged or broken. The cost of service below is for one of the two moves that they did for us this past fall. Would we hire them again? -- absolutely. We already did.

+ -1 moreThe movers arrived promptly at the scheduled time (7:30 am) and worked quickly and efficiently to pack everything that had to move. I had two people in the house that were still sleeping and they were very respectful of that. They had to load items from multiple sites and did so with the same efficiency at each site. They arrived at the Charles Town location in a timely fashion and unloaded everything without an issue. The final charge was exactly what was in the estimate provided prior to the move. This was by far the smoothest move I have ever had. Everyone I worked with was professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend them and more importantly, I would use them again if ever needed.

I sent countless emails with questions to Robin and he answered them quickly every time. The movers themselves were very polite and pleasant. They were patient with us as we made difficult decisions about what of my Aunt's belongings were to be donated or packed. They checked in with us often as they packed to make sure they were marking boxes correctly. Everything arrived without scratches, dents or broken items. Since I am not from NoVa, it was helpful that Robin secured the storage unit for me and had the contents moved there. They also gave us a discount which we also appreciated very much. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable movers in the NoVA area.
Description of Work: Express came and packed my Aunt's condo and dropped off some items for donation and the rest to a storage unit they obtained for us. The second move was moving the contents of the storage unit to my home a year later.

He also was straight forward with the details I needed for my moving plans, explaining the process they would follow, advising me on how to pack, and answering my questions, calls and messages as I needed. His and the staff's honest and straight forward answers helped me to stay informed and calm during this stressful and big interstate move. Their quote was reasonable and very detailed. I like that they gave me a clear explanation of the service, insurance, and what to expect and to do. The day of the move they showed up on time and with the staff needed to start and complete the job on time. Cesar, Alex, and Carlos were excellent buddies, very professional and attentive, respectful, and patient. Kudos to them! They know their job well and have a very effective system, focusing on packing and picking up all my things with care and without causing any issues or problems. They protected the home walls, floors without causing unnecessary damages. They delivered my move on time and unpacked with the same care and attention to details as they did with the packing and pick up. I received every item in excellent conditions, and did not lose anything. I recommend this company without hesitation and will use them again in the future if needed. I had an excellent experience with the staff and service provided by Express Moving and Storage, and a smooth moving process for my interstate move. They certainly deserve a 10 score!

+ -1 moreIf you are looking for an affordable moving company with excellent customer service in the DC/MD/VA area then this is the place to go. I have never hired movers before, but I didn't have anyone to help me move. I was extremely anxious about the cost and was afraid I wouldn't be able to afford to hire a moving company. Robin was very friendly, explained every step of the process to me, patiently answered all of my questions and quoted me an extremely reasonable price. In addition, the quote had a cap price on it that they wouldn't go over no matter how many hours they spent moving me. It made me feel better to know that there wouldn't be any hidden or surprise charges on the final bill. In the end, the final price actually ended up being lower than the cap price that was on the quote. I found the straightforward and honest way that they do business to be very refreshing. These guys are absolutely wonderful! The movers arrived on time, were extremely careful with all of my valuables and antiques. They packaged everything extremely carefully and secured it well on their moving truck. I have several antique family heirlooms that are very valuable to me. They handled everything with the utmost care and absolutely everything arrived at my new place in pristine condition. Their friendly, polite and respectful demeanor made what I thought was going to be a stressful day a pleasant one instead. I really can't recommend these guys highly enough. They made moving a breeze!

+ -1 moreThese were the best movers I've ever had. They wrapped every piece of furniture carefully. They dealt with the less than ideal conditions (small size of freight elevator, broken air conditioner in apart so it was very hot...) with calm and professionalism. The items I had asked them to box for me (lamps in particular) were done carefully. These guys are experienced in moving antiques - and they did a great job with the antiques, but they treated the rest of the furniture with equal care. When they arrived in Bethesda, they placed all the furniture and boxes where we asked them to, unwrapped it, and put together the bedstead they had had to take apart to move out of the apartment. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially to those who worry about whether movers will be careful with fragile belongings.

We were in the very beginning stages of packing and never having used a moving company before, Robin was very helpful and knowledgeable. He definitely put my mind at ease and answered any questions I had very quickly. As promised, he delivered our quote within 24 hours. Our initial move date was supposed to be June 11th. Robin was very understanding and compassionate about the delays we had in closing. His calming nature helped us through what we felt on our end was the stress of being first time home buyers. The day of the move, Jose and Dustin (not sure if I spelled his name correctly) arrived early. They are a great team and worked fast and efficiently. It was very hot and humid and they worked hard. Our old place was in the middle of the complex so they had a decent walk from our balcony to where they could park their truck. They took great care with not only our furniture but all of the boxes as well. I wish we could have offered them more than just cold water for all their efforts. The professionalism displayed by Robin, Jose and Dustin will never be forgotten. Express Moving & Storage is an outstanding company. + -1 moreIt's not easy to find someone to deliver just one item so I was surprised that they were willing to help me. They moved my cabinet from Reston, VA to Lakeland, FL. They were very friendly, the owner was always accessible and very responsive. Although I only had one item, they were very appreciative of my business. They gave me an estimated time of delivery and arrived promptly and punctually. Overall, I think they did a very good job. If they were like that with everyone else like they were with me, they deserve the super service award they received in 2015.
Description of Work: They picked up a cabinet for me on Monday 06/13/2016 and delivered on Wednesday the 15th. I also put here N/A in the price category because I did not get the chance to compare prices with any other companies so I can't make a fair judgement based on the price, but nonetheless I'm still very pleased.

+ -1 moreOne minor glitch occurred when we went to make our initial down payment. We were confused by the address given to us. The establishment was actually Quinn’s Auction House. Once we spoke to someone at the auction house we were able to leave the check with them and obtain a receipt. We scheduled the move for May 17-18. Six movers showed up between 8-8:30 am on the 17th and after a quick walkthrough went right to work packing and moving everything in our four bedroom home including the full basement, garage, and attic. Co-owner, Cesar Arita, showed up a short time later to survey the situation, make sure we had no questions and deliver additional packing materials. Toward the end of the move it was time to move the enormous upright piano. With all six men assisting, they were able to barely get the piano up 10 stairs and out of the basement without damage to the piano or the home. The piano was later donated to a charity and we received a donation form to make a claim on our income taxes. They then moved the sleep sofa up the same stairway to the back yard and onto the second truck. Once this was complete, the remaining boxes and furniture were loaded onto the truck. After a long eleven hours on a miserable, rainy day the entire house was emptied. The next morning everyone arrived around 9:30 am at our new home in Lake Monticello, Virginia. After a quick look around, the crew got started right away. The unloading went very quickly with my wife and me directing the placement of the furniture and the boxes where we wanted them in the new house. After another seven hours with a quick break for lunch everything was in our new house. We quickly settled our account, which came in under the maximum price quote, and the job was done. The entire move came off without a hitch, the team was enjoyable to work with, and nothing was damaged. We would highly recommend Express Moving & Storage to anyone.
Description of Work: We were moving our 4 bedroom home in Springfield to our new “age in place” 2-story home in Lake Monticello, Virginia. In addition, we needed a very large upright piano and sleep sofa removed from the basement. We were hoping to donate the piano and take the sleep sofa to the landfill. Our tentative moving date was mid-May. We did our research on Angie’s List and requested estimates from 2 highly rated firms. The first company scheduled an appointment and did a quick walkthrough of the entire home. They responded the next day with what we thought was a very reasonable quote. The second company requested that we inventory our house on-line and they would second us an estimate and follow-up with a site visit if we were interested. They sent us an estimate in a couple of day and even though the estimate was higher than the first it was still in our price range. I had also been researching a company to move the piano even though the first company said they could do the job. I found an article that recommended two companies that moved pianos and one of them was Express Moving & Storage. After checking them out on Angie’s List we decided to ask them for a quote. We made an appointment with the owner, Robin Boldt, and he did a very thorough inventory of our home even going into the attic. We received a very detailed quote the next day with an additional estimate for the piano and sleep sofa. Even though it was higher than the other two we felt confident they could do the job for the quoted price. One extra benefit to the quote was that it included a maximum cost should the move take longer than estimated. We found this very beneficial when a family has to factor in all the costs of a long distance move. We were also told that they would make every effort to find a charity that would accept the piano as a donation and provide us with the documentation so we could write it off on our taxes. Therefore, we selected Express Moving & Storage for the job.

They were thorough in assessing the items to be moved , in rider to be prepared to pack all items appropriately. Their quote was below,what I expected and I asked for a move date one week later, which they accommodated. The day of the move they arrived ten minutes early, and immediately set to work. They worked incredibly intensely and carefully, all were professional, friendly and skilled. On the delivery day, they again arrived promptly and worked incredibly quickly and carefully. My things were unloaded in three hours, everything in its proper place. As I unpacked, I have marveled at the care given to protecting each item... Whether a sentimental collection of fragile ceramics or computer equipment. Not a teacup, a tiny seashell or a CD case was damaged. Robin and Cesar run a highly professional, customer friendly business. Their team of packers and movers treated my things as if they were all precious - as they are to me. I recommend them highly for anyone moving across the country or just across the state. My experience was simply flawless. Thanks, guys!

+ -1 moreFrom the very beginning Robin and his team were very professional. Within 24 hours Robin set a time and came out to give us a quote on our move. He was very diligent in his walk-through and explained what his team could not move and informed us of what things were deemed delicate and would incur extra fees (ie TVs and lamps) due to extra packing material. We were provided a quote which guaranteed a maximum charge even if things ran long (happy to say that we actually came in several hundred below the quote). On moving day his team actually showed up a couple of minutes early and were ready to work. They were very respectful to us and our belongings and made sure to secure everything safely for the move. It was a great experience that helped relieve some stress of actually moving an entire house. We do not plan on moving again anytime soon, but if the need ever arose I would be sure to call Robin and his team.
