I will use them again. They have a very low service charge. They give you the estimate before hand and then you can make the decision so you are not being pressured, which I appreciated.

The inside part of the plumbing was in a tight spot behind a duct, which accounted for the seemingly high price (fire hazard with the torch, etc.). Phone service was professional, plumber came when promised, had all the parts, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, explained everything in a non-condescending way,was neat and respectful. I would definitely use Caffi again.

I couldn't be happier with my experience with Caffi. They are undoubtedly a step above their local competition (and I've used several plumbers and handymen). From the receptionist over the phone (Carla) to the field plumber (Mike), my experience was top notch. The receptionist was able to schedule me the same day I called about my leaky toilet. Maybe she could sense the urgency in my voice. The plumber not only did what he said he would do, he went above and beyond to fix my problem and literally did not leave any stone unturned or smidgen uncaulked. His technical knowledge and workmanship were great. His professionalism was also great. Did I want to pay almost 900 for a new toilet and related valves and parts (No)? Did I get what I paid for? Absolutely. I will definitely be calling Caffi in the future for my plumbing and HVAC needs.

They did a great job. Cleanup after the whole job left a little to be desired but overall they were fantastic.
Description of Work: Caffi repaired old drain pipes in our kitchen. We were expecting some major removal of multiple cabinets to access the old pipes but Caffi found they only had to do one cabinet removal -- but they discovered the possibility of another old cast iron pipe that should be replaced. This suggestion potentially saved us thousands in repairs down the road.

There was a leak in my washing area. I was not sure if the leak was coming from the appliance or the pipes. After calling several places, Caffi gave the most reasonable price for a technician to come out and diagnose the problem. I called the office and the rep was able to get a technician to come out the next day. He showed up on time, explained his troubleshooting process and findings. I would use them again.

I called Caffi re drain problem and wanted other info in general, lady was very pleasant, they do not give estimates of pricing, said it and quot;was too complicatedand quot; I usually get some type of estimate beforehand but thought I would take a chance and she had someone available within the hour Jovanne arrived and gave me an estimate from his paperwork right away, he worked very well, had to snake out the kitchen drain to clear the clot, he told me the charge would be $340. and I could use the $35 coupon which brought total to $305.; I decided to let him proceed since I would be charged $35 for the estimate He seemed very competent and knowledgable and cleaned up worksite before leaving , so much for the and quot;too complicated to give estimateand quot; practice

The plumber was punctual, professional and neat.
Description of Work: There was a leak of unknown origin causeing water to drip into my basement. Another plumber had told me they could not do the job because it would involve tearing out the floor and walls of my bathroom to find the leak. Caffi came in, their plumber took one look at the situation and noticed that the bathroom and kitchen shared a wall. He suggested moving the stove which was on that wall, made a small opening behind the stove, found the leak and quickly fixed it. This cost less about a tenth of what the other plumber told me to expect thecost to be.

Description of Work: There was a leak under our kitchen sink. As I have used Caffi for years for both plumbing and remodeling, I called them and got an appointment. I was told on the phone that the travel fee was $25. When the plumber got here, he immediately went to the faucet which is the type with a sprayer option and tightened the connection with his hand. There was no charge for the service, just the travel fee of $25, which I believe is more than fair.

After noting a slow leak from my water heater, I went to Caffi for an estimate on a tankless water heater as well as a conventional water heater option. They actually walked over to my house, and came back 2 hours later with a complete typed-up estimate with 5 different options! The following night saw a drastic turn for the worse for my old water heater, so I called up Caffi and asked if they could install one of the conventional water heaters as soon as possible. They came out first thing that next morning and had the new heater in within 3 hours. The plumbers were prompt, professional, and courteous, and did an outstanding job. On top of it all, they left the utility room and its surroundings spotless! Great experience all around.

Everything looks great however they didn't slope the shower drain enough the first time so they had to come back and get creative by making the slope much steeper. The second time worked great. All is well.
Description of Work: Jackhammered the basement concrete to expose the sewer line. Roughed in a toilet pipe and installed a toilet. Had to replace the existing shower drain/pipes and slope the concrete towards the drain. Also replaced the existing sink pipes. Called Caffi on the day before Thanksgiving to clean out basement drain that was backing up. Caffi employee came out that afternoon and cleaned out drain, telling me up front that it would cost $795. I agreed to cost, thinking I had little choice given that the next day was the beginning of a long holiday weekend for many and I didn't want sewage coming up in my basement over the weekend. I was surprised that the work took one man only 1-1/2 hours. Drain backed up again about a week and a half later. I called another company, which charged my only $325 to perform the same work in about the same time. The second man pulled a wash cloth out of the drain, which he claimed was the cause of the backup and was missed by Caffi.

My husband wa replacing the faucet in our 80 year old bathtub and one of the pipes just fell apart from old age and rust. We have used Caffi before, so I emailed BObby a picture of the part. He had it replaced within an hour. As many people hav observed, Caffi is not the cheapest, but they tell you upfront what the cost will be, they generally have all the materials for the job and their people know what they are doing. This was a small job, but we have used them for other things where ethe consequences of poor workmanship could be very serious.

We found Caffi Contracting Services on Angie’s List. We contacted them via e-mail and received a telephone response within 48 hours. Scheduling an onsite consultation was easy and painless. The VP of the company himself arrived promptly, listened keenly, validated that he understood our goals and expectations, and provided superior customer service. Within 2 business days of the consultation we received scanned copies of the existing layout as well as three (3) different layout options for our project at no charge to us whatsoever. The drawings were accompanied by an estimate for each design. We call that contractor excellence … no added fees, just good customer service and no pushy sales technique. Well done!!!!! Once we had decided to use Caffi, we finalized our layout decisions and were referred to Caffi’s affiliated showroom called Old Town Bath and Kitchen. We worked directly with the showroom manager who is a charismatic individual; he re-arranged his schedule to meet with us on two different occasions during evening hours to discuss fixtures for the new bathroom. He gave a tour of the showroom, time to peruse the displays, ample time to ask questions, and provided printouts and brochures to take with us to give us time to make informed decisions. While he is clearly a bit partial to Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures, he knows quality and provided excellent detail on a variety of manufacturers allowing us to make our choices independently. While we didn’t find tile to suit our needs at this showroom, he recommended a terrific showroom and he was spot on. Of no fault of Caffi Contracting Services, we didn’t enter into the contract phase for nearly two months. Simply put, it took us nearly two months to decide on the finishes that we wanted and we were waiting for the cooperative board to approve the project. Not one time did Caffi pressure us into entering a contract sooner than we were ready. They were very patient, kept in touch, but didn’t push. When the time was right, they completed a very timely and thorough job proposal. We read the proposal very carefully, requested some minor changes and they accommodated nearly immediately. The ultimate sign off on the proposal resulted in a projected start within 4 – 6 weeks which we felt was very reasonable. The Friday before the project start date we met with the lead carpenter assigned to our project. During this time there was a detailed review of the project, cooperative rules and restrictions, etc. There are many wonderful adjectives to describe the lead carpenter. Some of his finest attributes center on his genuine concern for the homeowner’s satisfaction. This man was an EXCELLENT communicator. He never once said “oh, I can’t do that.” Rather, every step of the way he would listen to the request and explain the steps involved and described the challenges or potential challenges as well as the pros and cons. There were times that our requests could place the project or our safety at risk and he helped guide us at every juncture. He was always on time, he was genuinely courteous, he always abided the cooperative rules, and he respected our home as if it were his own. We felt completely at ease with him in our home even when we could not be present. The lead carpenter was more than just the carpenter to us; he coordinated with the scheduling staff in the office to seamlessly pull together the electricians, plumbers, drywall hangers, painters and inspectors. I don’t think that there was a day that passed that it was full steam ahead from his perspective. We’re convinced that we couldn't’t have asked for a better lead carpenter. Of all the people that crossed our threshold, there was only one plumber from Caffi Contracting Services that did not meet our expectations. I brought this to the attention of the Caffi VP and within moments the situation was corrected. This was solely based on a personality difference. It is quite possible that the plumber was excellent at his trade, but his demeanor was not conducive to the atmosphere that we expected to keep. While our decision to have this specific plumber removed from the project likely added a week or more to the project timeline, we knew it was the right decision and Caffi supported us 100%. All portions of the project were nearly flawless until the shower door installation. The tile that we had selected for the shower surround is glass and proved very difficult to install and equally difficult to attach the shower door to. Unfortunately, when I returned home to inspect the completed shower door installation, there was a crack in one of the tiles. Additionally the clips that hold the frameless glass were placed incorrectly. When I reported this to Caffi, the response to get the issue corrected was greater than 48 hours and the time to complete resolution was longer than we would have liked. It took a full 3 weeks to bring the issue to closure. In Caffi’s defense, one week was due to a scheduled vacation for the shower door people. This was the final portion of the project, so keep in mind that our patience was waning significantly. Once the crews got onsite it was 3 days from door removal to door reinstallation. If this had been addressed the week after we brought this to Caffi’s attention, we would have been back in our bathroom two weeks sooner. The only other portion of the project that was less than seamless was related to payments for the project. Caffi places a dollar cap for credit card payments. We understand the rationale, yet fine details were never explained or written explicitly. The confusion ensued when we purchased items from the showroom. We simply did not understanding that the Old Town Bath and Kitchen invoices fell within the greater scope of Caffi rendered services. We have made suggestions to the company’s owner to clarify this for future customers with no response from the owner as of this submittal. Caffi did rectify the short term concern to our satisfaction upon final invoice, yet one more subtle gesture of excellence in customer service. So, where does this leave us … simply said … pleased as punch. The final product is spectacular and in many cases exceeded our expectations. The craftsmanship was really top notch and generally speaking, the communication style that this contractor uses is really superb. I would say that this company really values its customers and will work diligently to ensure satisfaction … that certainly is our perception. We have already requested estimates for our guest bath renovation from Caffi for a project start in mid to late fall, so that should speak volumes as to how pleased we are with their services.
Description of Work: This project was a remodel of a 1966 master suite in a 16 story high rise cooperative in the Van Ness section of NW Washington, DC. The project included a complete remodel of the master bathroom, relocation of a master walk-in-closet, replacement of master reach-in-closet doors and finally the addition of a custom reach-in-utility closet. The bathroom demolition was complete to the studs, all master closet walls were completely removed, and the parquet hardwood floors were salvaged for use when the new walls were in place. All old electrical wiring and plumbing supply lines were removed. Due to cooperative rules and regulations, all existing plumbing drain lines remained in place but were cleaned up to accommodate the upgraded fixtures. All debris was hauled away daily. Metal stud walls were erected in compliance with cooperative regulations, followed by electrical work including recessed light fixtures, plumbing supply lines, pocket door, inspections and close in with treated drywall/concrete board as appropriate. The shower surround was complete with a recessed niche custom fit to our design, glass tile and a frameless glass door. The walls and ceilings were finished and painted with colors that we had chosen. Tile floor and base trim were completed, double lavatory vanity installed, and new toilet installed. French doors with custom jambs and trim were installed on the reach in closet and hinged doors for the bathroom entry and hallway utility closet. The salvaged parquet wood floor was reinstalled to match perfectly with the existing flooring.

From start to finish , the process was totally handled well by Caffi.
Description of Work: Removed an existing 75 gal hot water tank and installed an "Eternal" Infinite Hot Water System. The process was done in one day. I came home from work to a perfect instalattion. This is a complicated system to install with pipes going all over the place but these folks installed it in such a way that each pipe was perfectly lined up and neatly run. This was just as important as having the system work properly. I can't say enough about how well Mac and his crew completed this job. The system cost more to install but because its not a tank with heat loss, its instant hot water for our entire condo. We get un ending hot water. It works beautifully. Mac helped us research this product and steered us in the right direction. True Professional....He made a new customer our of us!

The call back and replacement service call for the toilet went smoothly and pleasantly.
Description of Work: I called Caffi Plumbing because of the good service I received five years ago to replace a broken sewer line. This time I replaced an original toilet at my 30 year old townhouse in Vienna, VA, with a new, water saver toilet in the Guest BathRoom. I used the toilet a week or two later and was not happy with the flush power. I called Caffi, and Don, the manager, sent my plumber, James, back out with a new replacement toilet - a different brand -- at no cost to me. James told me that he was concerned about the toilet when he installed it and reported his concern back to his manager. It was a new product and had not been installed before. Caffi replaced the water saver toilet with a different brand, not a water saver. The new toilet in the Guest Bath Room will not get much use and will not affect my water consumption much if at all. I highly recommend Caffi for the quality of their plumbing work and the level of their integrity. I used them shortly thereafter to replace a hot water heater.

The technician arrived promptly as scheduled. Because our house is old, and the basement is finished, he had to hunt around quite a bit to find an access point for the existing gas line, as well as a route up to the kitchen. He was able to successfully get the gas line in place, only to discover that the old electric oven had been hard-wired and there was no electrical outlet to plug in the new oven. I called my electrician who, fortunately, was working nearby. He came over, installed a new outlet while the Caffi technician worked to set up the new oven, and everything was completed without further complication. The technician was meticulous and attentive to detail (very important when working with gas), and cleaned up after he was finished. We have had no problems, and I am very happy to have my new oven in place.
Description of Work: I used Caffi to install a new gas oven, which required installing a new gas line (connecting to existing line in basement and running feed up through ceiling to kitchen, then hooking up to the new oven.

Once I contacted them via email, they were prompt in their reply and it was easy to schedule an appointment. It is tough to get any kind of estimate over the phone or email as they need to look at the problem, which was expected, but none-the-less a little frustrating that I could not even get a ballpark figure. The gentlemen called when he was 30 mins out, showed up a little early, was professional, courteous and overall just good. One thing that was odd, was that he showed up with a bill in hand already with the price of the job without even looking at what needed to be done. Again, I found that odd, as when I talked on the phone with their office, they were unable to really even give me a ballpark figure, as I just mentioned, they just told me it was $25 dollars just to come out and look at the issue/job. The plumber found out the problem, it was very minor, and did a great job. He cleaned up after himself and overall had a good experience and would use them again. One thing to mention is that Caffi is much more expensive than many other plumbers in the area, much more. My little job seemed to be priced VERY high for what I had done, very. But overall, they are one of the best in the area, and I guess you get what you pay for, but it will not be cheap or a bargain ... but good work.
Description of Work: Fixed minor problem with plumbing and fixtues for our bathtub.
They began working in early November and were finished by mid December. They put tarps on my hardwood floors every day and took them away when they left in the evenings. They cleaned up after themselves every day and did not leave a mess when they completed their workday. The tile work Edilberto did was masterful and painstaking. One minor quibble is that the sales folks did not come to my house to make sure the items we selected would fit perfectly. As a result, we selected a toilet that is 3 inches away from the wall and has the type of flushing mechanism that cannot be adjusted. It's not that noticeable, but at these prices, we would have chosen otherwise had we known. Also, the baseboard at the bottom of the beadboard wall was a tad too high for the vanity, so the back of the vanity could not fit flush against the wall. The installation of the baseboard might have been better coordinated and they should have then been able to recommend we use a shorter baseboard to accommodate the vanity. As a result, the vanity did not fit perfectly in the space and required some adjustment. It is not noticeable but it is not perfect. Again, at these prices, that aspect should have been better coordinated but we did not know it would be a problem until it was too late. And this is not Caffi's fault, but there was also a bit of a delay in actually receiving the vanity because it had been damaged during the shipping, and it was getting too close to Christmas to wait for it to become absolutely perfect. But all in all, it was a great experience. The contractors are trustworthy and professional, even fixing some minor things involving the hot water pipes that they did not have to fix under the contract. I would definitely use Caffi again for my next remodeling job.
Description of Work: Caffi Plumbing and Contracting completely demo'ed and remodeled my main floor guest bathroom. They installed a shower, shower fixtures, glass shower doors, a new toilet, a new sink and vanity, and new lighting. They installed new floor tile and completely tiled the new shower. They installed beadboard on the non-shower walls, painted the entire bathroom, and installed new medicine cabinets.
