Description of Work: Dan failed to show when I had an appointment arranged through Angie's Snapfix. More disturbing (and why I chose no to use him at all) was his dishonesty about why he didn't show. I was in somewhat of a time crunch due to an upcoming move, so I was very disappointed that an Angie's List recommended contractor failed to come through.

+ 3 moreIt went excellently. Dan came out to my home twice. On the first visit I explained to him the situation, my deck door wouldn't open and water was leaking underneath it. It was a more involved fix than what I had expected. We both went to the local Home Depot to explore what materials they had on hand to fix the problem. Dan spent two hours with me going through possible solutions and related costs, but only charged me for one because he was unable to fix my door that day. Water had damaged and warped my hardwood floor, rotted the door, and leaked into the drywall of my basement. The next time he came out, Dan and another carpenter replaced the hardwood, skim coated the damaged drywall in the basement, cut, and hung the new door. Even though the project took more than an hour longer than expected, he only charged me what he originally quoted me. I was pleasantly surprised. Dan the man is an honest hardworker and I recommend his services.

They expanded my linen closet and reworked a bedroom closet. This involved demo, framing, hanging drywall, taping and mudding. They did a GREAT job. They also cleaned up everything. Very pleased with the job!!!! Would definitely used him again.

+ -1 moreDan did a great job. He communicated with me through Angie's List's message center. We set up a time within three days of when I bought the coupon. Dan arrived on time for the appointment. He was careful in setting up the work making sure the area was appropriately prepared to start plastering the holes. He took the time to explain to me the steps in the process and what I should expect. Dan is a clearly a guy that wants to get the job done right the first time, even if that takes some extra time. As he said, better to take five minutes during the project to get it done right than have to come back and address it later.
Description of Work: Dan repaired some holes in my plaster ceilings. One was quite large and the others were just minor nicks.

+ -1 moreEverything went really well. Dan removed caulk from a shower and then re-caulked the area. I needed to have part of a ceiling around a light fixture in the closet patched and Dan suggested the best way to do that was to caulk around it. I also had several screws in the closet door frame that I thought were stripped, but the holes in the frame had been made too large and Dan fashioned wood shims and put in the holes to solve the problem. I also had a filing cabinet that needed to be moved and sliding glass closet doors that were off tract that Dan put back in their tracts.
Description of Work: Removed and reapplied caulk in shower. Caulked and sealed around light fixture in closet. Repaired screw holes in closet door and fixed sliding closet doors.

Description of Work: stained 6 foot fence; installed ceiling fan; attempted to repair roof on a front porch; installed a new roof on a back porch to stop leaking but did not work; painted porch walls and floor; repaired wood around windows where there was water damage from roof; (apparently the wrong roof was installed and the leaking continued requiring work to be done around the windows all over again.)

+ 2 moreDan and his team arrives promptly at 8:30 a.m. and worked until after 6:00 p.m.. And worked they did. When the home was built the contractor must have used the cheapest products and there was no ceramic tile underneath the existing vanities. Dan and team removed the old vanities, replaced all of the piping, removed all of the old fixtures, mirrors, and lights from each of the four bathrooms. New tile was put down, walls were caulked and painted, lights and additional electrical work completed, and new vanities and mirrors installed. I can't say enough about Dan. He couldn't be more friendly, is trusted, and is THAT good. The team he has working for him is unbelievable talented. Our family feels very fortunate to have met Dan to help us, guide us, and provide advice for all of our home projects. Dan IS the man!!!!!

He took a generous amount of time measuring for new closet doors and explaining pros and cons of different styles. He wanted to be sure the patching of the plaster walls was totally dry before proceeding with the painting, so came back the next day. He didn?t cut corners and hurry through. His two-man crew performed the work very well, but Dan was around both days to start the work and inspect at the end. I could not recommend Dan the Man Services more highly and will be using his services again. He is top-notch!
Description of Work: We had 40-year old doors and wood shelves removed from three closets, the walls repaired and prepared for paint, and then primed and painted. New shelves will be installed later by a company that specializes in closet shelving.

+ 0 moreAngeis does it again and Dan saved the day. Dan is indeed THE man. I'd returned from the MLK holiday weekend in advance of the encroaching storm to a call from my neighbors. The high wind kicked up a piece of siding on the roof line exposing the underlying structure. With the storm pending, late in Monday I called 6-8 places on the roofers and handyman lists; Dan was the *only* one who even considered the possibility. He looked into it and quickly called me back, calming my fears. The job was accepted! The next morning I texted him to confirm and got a quick reply back that all was ok and that one of this team would soon be there. When near the end of the time the staff should have arrived, I texted Dan to say he'd not showed up. Within minutes Dan was at my door, personally trying to track down the staff member. He also did a quick assessment of the job. He was unable to get a hold of the staff member, but not to worry, less than a half-hour later, Dan was back, with his truck and ladder, and he made he quick repair. Yeah! THANKS DAN! Now, I'm warm, dry, happy and grateful to find a handyman that will get my business for years to come. Plus, he's a really nice guy. Hire him!

Description of Work: I called him initially to hang shower rods and some bathroom accessories for me and it was excellent!!!! I was very pleased with the way he worked and performed exactly how I wanted it. Plus he is helpful and will go out of his way to help. Dan was very helpful in providing me all necessary paperwork to show my homeowners association that I was having the work completed and as work required painting, it would have to wait for warmer weather to be completed. It was great that I did not have to follow up with Dan to see when the work would be completed. He scheduled it and did the work on the first day the temperature was warm enough to complete/paint the job. Finished project looks great. I would definitely use his services again.

+ -1 moreLate on a Friday night, rain water began showing on an interior wall below a window. On Saturday morning, I phoned DAN THE MAN and within two hours he was on site. He made a quick assessment and then contracted his worker, Jose, to accomplish the task. Jose departed to purchase caulk and returned about an hour later. Jose then worked for approximately 1.5 hours inspecting and caulking two windows. The windows were on the second and third floors. Jose and Dan both were professional and friendly. The price of $200, with an Angie's List discount, was fair, especially given the short-notice of the job and given that rain is still in the forecast and I was desperate to make a repair. I will likely ask DAN THE MAN to return to repair the interior drywall once the rain stops and everything dries. DAN THE MAN in fact also recommended to wait until everything was confirmed sealed and dry before doing any drywall work; nice that there was no pressure to do the job immediately just to get the work. This shows me that DAN is committed to quality over the fast buck. Well done.

+ 0 moreFirst of all I understand that the summer months are really busy for doing home improvement projects. It has also been a very rainy season for the mid-Eastern part of the States this year. I mention all this because we were on a time schedule to get the exterior trim repaired and painted and Mr. Dan and his crew was able to complete the job on time! He was very prompt answering my request for an estimate and was readily available throughout the process. He sent me before and after pictures so I was aware of what items needed to be addressed and this gave me confidence that the items were indeed addressed at the completion of the job. ( Especially since I was not going to get on the roof.) Mr. Dan also stated that he warranties his work and uses good quality materials so that we should not have to paint the trim again for 10 years! As a side note, we had done these same maintenance items on the house approximately 3 years ago. Even though it cost twice as much as the previous repairs, I don't mind paying for QUALITY because it should last twice as long! I am already evaluating other projects Mr. Dan could do for our house which means I would definitely use his services again.
