Every thing went as planned. Too many two story houses have undersized HVAC systems that barely cope with the area's high summer heat. This unit adds just the right amount of spot cooling or heat on a fall evening because it is a very well designed heat-pump.

A-1 ordered the unit, installed it on schedule as promised, and checked it out. It works better than I imagined. This AOS 100k btu unit is very very quiet ( you have to stand next to it to know that it's on) for a pressure fired h/w heater. The old B/W 40k btu unit was very noisy (you could hear it all over the house). The only glitch would have caused a delay to finish if I had not had a PVC fitting on hand from another project because they were one elbow short somehow for that job. JAH

A man came at 1:00 PM and the A/C made a terrible racket as a tree limb had put a dent in the top during Hurricane Sandy. He tried to pull the dent out with no luck. He ordered a new one from a place in Baltimore. It arrived the next day and another man installed it. Two months ago my humidifier leaked at night and a man came at 9:00 PM to stop it and installed a new one the next morning.

I asked him if he should look at it before he told me what it needed and he said no that his experience told him that I needed a new compressor. I wouldn't let him touch anything. He charged me $79 to tell me that. Another company told me that there was nothing wrong with my compressor and that the air conditioner just needed to be serviced. He didn't even look at it so I knew he was lying to me. They came right away. I didn't have a problem with the price; my problem was with him not looking at the air conditioner. He was punctual but he tried to take advantage of me.

They are good and usually are fine about calling me back. I have not had anything bad happen yet. They are pretty good on response and the person I deal with is professional.

We've had experience with them over the years. We had them put in an air conditioner some time ago and they needed to put a tool outside and so they were going to go through the wall. I told them not to go through the wall but the guy went ahead and went through the wall and couldn't do it and left a hole in my wall. We already had a contract with them for the furnace and I was upset that they never did fix the wall. So my net experience with them was a mixture of good and bad. They do come out if you've got a problem, and that is important.

A-1 has done extensive work for us over the past 9 years, and we have always been happy with their service. They have also been reliable and prompt.

I had set up my semi annual service for my furnance /airconditioner and the gentleman who came out ( the same one who has serviced my system for 20 years) told me that he detected a small crack in the furnace. We went over the possibility of replacement or staying with the old system. There was never any and quot; Oh my you have to replace this right nowand quot; rather it was me knowing that it was already 21 years old and not wanting something to happen in the dead of winter that decided to replace the unit. From the time I picked the model to thetime of the actual installation took a matter of two days. Day one A-1 sent someone out to take measurements for the new unit and the second day the unit was installed. I never had to wait beyound the time stated that they would arrive and the actual arrival. They were prompt and were very professional.

The master technician from A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Service, Inc. totally checked out my HVAC system and corrected some wiring problems that my previous HVAC contractor screwed up. This resolved the major issues with the fan speeds. In addition, A-1's technician also found a major problem from my previous contractor as they installed a TXV valve incorrectly that affected my evaporator coil. The original coil kept freezing up. I am very pleased that A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning Service, Inc., replaced my American Standard evaporator coil. Kevin was very professional, knowledgeable, and he cares about his work. You don't find too many individuals like him. Everything is working well; thank goodness, as we are in a stretch of 90 degree temperatures. A job well done! I can always count on A-1 for giving excellent service and advice!

In each instance, I called the office, described what had happened, and what I needed, and A-1 did their best to get the job done as quickly as possible. They make reasonable recommendations, and work with your schedule. In fact, my air conditioner was replaced on a Saturday, which is not always an option, but important for those working away from the home full-time.

They were professional. They charged me for what they needed to charge and not more, and the work that they did stood out. I lost the rooftop compressor on two systems and had them come out and replace that unit with a much better newer unit. They replaced the whole air conditioning system because they were Freon based system and couldn't fix them anymore and had to only replace them. This was on the five-story house, and they didn't use the crane to go up. They actually managed to get in up through the interior without damaging anything unlike others. I would rate them highly. I would use them again in the future.

After my furnace fan stopped working, I called A-1 around mid-day and a technician arrived about an hour later. He diagnosed a blown electrical box and showed me exactly what had gone wrong. He could not make the repair, but he called the office and an appointment was arranged for the next morning between 9 and 11. The second technician arrived shortly after 9 and made the repair. The service from both technicians was prompt and professional, and the person at the office was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend A-1 and would call them again.

The technicians took care of removing my old humidifier and installing a new Honeywell HE300 humidifier. Both technicians were very professional and courteous. The installation went well and they told me about the operation of this humidifier, as it works differently than the Aprilaire unit, and showed me how to set the humidity control. In addition, I will be receiving a $50.00 rebate through Honeywell for purchasing this unit by March 2012. They also replaced my electronic air cleaner media filter and checked that everything was operational. A job well done! I would definitely recommend this company. Thank you!

I have used them several times. They are a very good company. The person who came out seemed to be straightforward. I called them at 9 o’clock and they came out and fixed it by 10:30. I think they had also installed my heat pump and air conditioning unit about four years ago. They had a good price too. I had gotten three estimates and their price was in the middle. I am not usually surprised when they charge me.

They were professional and got the job done really quickly. The work went well. We have used them earlier too and they have been really good. I would definitely recommend them.

We are a military family with a home in the DC area that needed a new home furnace / AC system. A-1 provided years of great service on our approx 17 HVAC system, but to ensure we got the best system/price, we asked for A-1 and two other companies to provide us quotes on a new high efficiency system. We used Angie's List ratings to select two competing companies. A-1 has very few reviews on Angie's List, and the other 2 companies had great reviews and lots of them. In the end, A-1 provided us the best price and outstanding installation. Additionally, we asked Dan Clarke at A-1 lots of questions about their company history/experience and were completely satisfied. Because we are currently assigned elsewhere, our home is rented out to another family. We had to work the quotes and have our questions answered via email while the home visits for the estimates had to be coordinated with the family living in the home. Dan Clarke was prompt, thorough in answering every one of our many questions, and gave great advice on system options even when it meant guiding us to a less expensive systems. Our rentors have nothing but good things to say about the professionalism and great manners exhibited by the installation team. They took great care to cover the floors and protect the house, asked before using the restroom, and answered their many questions during the installation. To date, the rentors report complete satisfaction with the system. If we have any problems in the future, we will update this report with the problem and how well A-1 responds. Excellent. Pleasant. Courteous. Fair price. Prompt. I called them late Saturday night (May 31), they called back early Sunday AM and arrived in less than an hour as agreed. They provided a temporary fix to get the air conditioning running again, obtained a replacement part (fan motor) Monday AM as agreed, and asked our permission to delay installing it so they could service others first. We agreed since with their temporary fix our air conditioning was still operating. Based on estimates from others, the price was fair. Note - I have a service contract with another contractor (ARS American Residential Services LLC) but they gave me no assurance of when they would arrive, they gave us an appointment for three days in the future (Tuesday). They put us on a wait list and said they'd call us in advance if an earlier date became available. They called when they arrived at the residence on Tuesday. The air conditioner had already been repaired by A-1.
