Description of Work: CJ communicated through the entire process and constantly checked in on our happiness with the project. You went the extra mile in meeting with Loudoun Deck to ensure elevations would met up properly. Color, style and shape came out just like we planned and agreed on!

The planning team is A+, the production team is A, and the clean up and fill-in-the-missing-dirt team is a B-. However, the concrete part is the most important and the part that lasts and Salzano did a great job on that.
Description of Work: Salzano removed my old asphalt driveway and some old concrete sidewalks and replaced them with a well-designed and graceful concrete unit. It looks great and I am getting a lot of compliments from my neighbors. They were very flexible and worked with me to deal with issues involving Invisible Fence wires for my dog and sprinkler heads for my in-ground irrigation system.

I am very pleased with the final product. CJ, the owner worked with me to design a sidewalk and stair configuration I would be happy with and they succeeded. The crew showed up on time and was very attentive to exactly what I wanted. Did the job in one day and cleaned up after themselves very well. I highly recommend this company for concrete work.

Excellent! CJ's creativity - then excellent staff and execution gave me a wonderful stamped concrete patio and pathways. We even invented 'curbs' as bedding edging for 2 beds that the pathways would enclose. I was solving a water puddling issue around the gate -- and CJ installed French Drains etc that work fantastically. Then CJ even came back years later to help with some repair work. (repair was not from quality issues.....errant car ran through the neighborhood and came to a halt on one of the pathways.) You will love the design, work and professionalism of Salzano, CJ and the crew. Still my favorite contractor to date.

This was a fairly extensive job in that the concrete steps in the front of our house were very old and needed to be spruced up. The steps in the back of our house and going down by one side were also very unattractive. The steps were a big part of the work that Salzano Concrete did as the front steps totaled 14 and were on four different levels as we live on a hill. The steps in the back and around the side of the house included ten different levels and 12 steps. We also had a small patio that we wanted to expand. In order to do that an old slab of concrete needed to be removed. We had seen a neighbor's patio and steps that Salzano Concrete had done and were very impressed with their work. Their website is excellent and gives a prospective client enough information to make an informed selection from all the choices available. Salzano Concrete poured the additional patio and after it had cured appropriately for two or three weeks they came back to begin all the resurfacing work. We selected to have rectangular blue field stone with a border of aged timber for our patio and just the blue field stone for the steps. It took about four days to do the job and we are so impressed with the work. Our steps and patio are really top notch now and have really dressed up our house. The two and three man crews that worked on the steps and patio were very professional and always cleaned up after the day was through. I would definitely recommend this company. They do superlative work. C Since the original job that Salzano Concrete performed in 2010, we have experienced some weather related cracks in our patio resurfacing. Salzano was very responsive in repairing the surfaces so that they look like new. This is a top notch company that I would recommend to anyone. They take care of their customers!!

They were amazing. From the time of the green light of the estimate was lit, to the work being started and completed, it was less than a week and through their extremely efficient work they were able to start and finish the job in one day. They could teach something to the army corp of enigineers their work was so efficient and it did not sacrafice on quality. I was truly amazed and it exceeded my expectations.

I needed a walkway and a patio installed in my Alexandria, VA back yard. Using Angie’s List, I narrowed down potential concrete companies and had 5 guys out for estimates. Mr. Salzano responded to my estimate request immediately. His schedule was flexible enough to accommodate my own busy work days. He came out to the property, went over what I wanted installed, and answered all my questions regarding the process. He then provided me with an estimate ON THE SPOT! While his estimate was not the cheapest, it was on the less expensive side. Mr. Salzano’s strong customer interaction skills (not pushy, but patient), the grade A techniques and materials his company uses in installing, coloring, and stamping the concrete, and the company’s website, made our choice easy. We picked Mr. Salzano's company and we are glad we did -- the finished product is beautiful!

We give high marks for quality work performed, fair price and timely service. No issues to report and would gladly recommend Salzano Custom Concrete in the future to family, friends, neighbors and other prospective concrete clients. I like dealing with a hands on owner and CJ Salzano was my kind of contractor.
Description of Work: Salzano Custom Concrete created a wonderful patio design and implementation of a new stamped concrete patio for our back yard. The job went wonderful. My family was very pleased with the results. Several neighbors had used the same firm and recommended it highly. We can now honestly recommend the same firm and would certainly have them back again to do more work as needed in the future.

The driveway in my front yard was supported on one side by an old wooden 20 foot long retaining wall built from railroad ties that were badly decayed and falling apart. The retaining wall supported my driveway and ran alongside my neighbor's property line. Because of the extensive decay my driveway was about to collapse into my neighbor's yard. In addition, the long brick walkway that led from my driveway to my front door was held together by railroad ties that were also decaying and coming apart. The front of my house looked quite unsightly. The large patios in the rear of my house were also made of bricks held together by railroad ties. Over the years, roots from nearby trees had grown underneath my patios and caused the railroad ties and bricks to shift out of place and knocked it all out of alignment to the point where the patios where no longer useable. The front of my house and the rear of my house looked terrible. My wife and I knew that a lot of repair work was needed, but we didn't want to have new brick and railroad ties put in. We needed something that would dress up our home quite abit and at the same time would be very functional and affordable. We didn't know what to do. Some stamped concrete walkways, steps and patios had been recenlty installed at our church. They looked like they were made of stone, when in reality they were made of poured concrete, stamped and colored to look like stone. They were absolutely beautiful. We learned that the work was done by C.J. Salzano of Salzano Custom Concrete, a local residential concrete contractor who is also a member of our church. We contacted Mr Salzano to inquire what could he could do for us at our house. Mr Salzano came to our home and spoke with my wife and I for awhile. He looked the place over quite thoroughly, and came up with some magnificent custom design strategies for replacing the retaining wall, the brick walkways and rear patios with poured concrete stamped and colored to look like stone. He showed us many different photos from previous jobs that he had done, to help us get a better understanding of what the finished job would look like. We selected a design strategy that we liked, and Mr Salzano did the rest ! Mr Salzano and his crew did a LOT of work at our home... more work than what most people would probably need. Mr Salzano are very professional and easy to deal with. They are very prompt, honest, and do nothing less than a high quality job. They stand behind anything that they do. The money that we paid Mr Salzano was well worth it. My home looks absolutely beautiful ! My neighbors love the new look to my home. My wife and I could not be anymore satisfied with Mr Salzano and his crew. If you're thinking about having a new sidewalk, patio, steps, retaining wall installed or an old one replaced, or if you want ot give your home a new look but are not sure what it is you want, give C.J. Salzano a call. You won't be sorry.

Salzano came in and repaired a stamped concrete patio we had just had installed. Basically, the original contractor completely botched the job and we needed someone to come in a make it right. Mr. Salzano personally visited us and went over our options for fixing the problems. He was completely up front about costs offering us several options from cheap to expensive. He performed the work EXACTLY as promised in a matter of days where the previous contractor had taken literally months. He was very focused on making sure we were getting what we wanted. He visited the job several times over the course of the work. He made certain we were happy the whole way through. Excellent, excellent company to do business with. Thanks CJ!

Natural stone was WAY too expensive and too much maintence. We started to research stamped concrete and found Salzano on Angie's list. I called and made an appointment for 3/10 from 10am - 12:00 pm. The gentleman arrived at 9:58 am. He listened as a told him what I needed to get done (front stairs) vs. what I really wanted to get done/my wish list for the (2) patios and stairs in the backyard. With each job he said it would be easier. He gave me to book to look at the different types of stamped concrete/2 colors vs. textured/up to 4/5 colors and I was very interested that I could get what looked like flagstone for a fraction of the price. I could get my 5 jobs done for less than my budget in concrete (with less maintence) vs. the two jobs in natural stone. I also got quotes/pictures from two other companies and they were not as good. My husband and I agreed that Salzano was the company for the job and was ready to give the green light for the project, until the next day when we found out my husband's contract might be up for renewal in a few months so we decided to table this project for now, but when we do decide (I hope six months) we will definitely be calling Salzano for the job.

The project took several days longer than expected because of inclement weather, but whenever it was possible for the men to be here they were, regardless of the cold. The crew was highly skilled and not afraid to stretch their creativity in order to do a job to fit a client's request. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have any concrete work done, but especially stamped and decorative concrete.
Description of Work: Removal of asphalt driveway, replaced with custom-stamped and custom-colored concrete; front concrete porch was resurfaced to match the brick on the house and walkway, with the top of the porch to match the stamped pattern on the driveway; a path was made from the back deck to the back garage door with stamped concrete and custom-colored to look like real stone; a path was created in the area behind the deck with a combination of wood framing, custom-stamped concrete (on either end, which simulated brick) and the central section was was custom-colored, stamped concrete which complimented the stone wall hardscaping behind the deck; finally a path led from the stamped concrete behind the deck to the back gate which was lined with bricks and filled with slate and river rocks (complete with two steps to make it safe to walk down the steep incline. PVC pipe was also run under the walkways to ensure proper drainage. The crew even took pains to protect the existing landscaping, to clean up the areas, remove debris and replace the solar lighting when they were done. The driveway, the porch and all the walkways and paths look fantastic!

The owner,C.J., was prompt in replying to the initial inquiry. He was flexible in meeting with us in the evening hours to go over various patio shapes, stamped patterns and colors, He was insightful in translating what we envisioned and took into account not wanting to disrupt the mature trees in the immediate area. He gave a timetable for the work to begin which was right on the mark. His crew was hard-working, especially when dealing with a massive layer of rock that had to be removed during site prep. They were respectful and took great care to cause minimal damage to the yard. The finished product is beautiful and something we will enjoy for many years to come! Each step of the way, C.J. took the time to call and made sure everything was satisfactory. We will not hesitate to use him again or recommend his company to others.

The company owner, C.J., is the person who comes to your house to work up a plan and generate an estimate. I was very, very impressed with the careful listening he does to understand what you are envisioning. He spent over an hour walking around my yard with me and working with me to come up with a plan. He took in my concerns regarding drainage and other issues, and came up with some great suggestions to supplement my ideas. Not at all pushy or overbearing. He generated a drawn-to-scale schematic by the end of our session, and I believe he generated the estimate at that time too (if not, it was within 24 hours). It was going to be several weeks before they could start, since this was in late spring and they had a lot of other projects underway already. He was honest and upfront about when they could start; there were no false promises. In the interim between drawing up the plan and when the work started, I changed my mind about a couple aspects of the project. C.J. was very easy to work with in changing the schematic for the proposed plan and revising the estimate. Very flexible. This was a bit of a complex project, involving different materials and 4 separate areas of the yard. I had a flagstone patio that I wanted disassembled, and I wanted an enlarged stamped concrete patio in its place. There were existing pea gravel paths. I wanted to re-use the flagstone from the old patio and re-use the existing pea gravel to make much more stable and attractive paths leading from each side of the patio. I also wanted to used concrete pavers to make a path and sitting area at the top of 18 stairs leading up a hill. The area at the top of the hill was especially labor-intensive since it is in a woodland (lots of roots to excavate) and because numerous trips up and down those stairs was the only way to get materials (pavers, buckets of stone dust) up to the top. They also had to take numerous wheelbarrow loads of the excavated roots and dirt to my back forest, about 200 feet away. None of this arduous work seemed to be an obstacle for C.J. and his crew. When the crew started to disassemble my old flagstone patio, they found about 4 inches of stone dust underneath, and they saved me money by recycling it to build the various new walkways. The crew took obvious pride in their work. They did a beautiful job, and definitely did NOT take shortcuts just to save time or labor. Both C.J. and his office assistant responded very promptly to any concerns I had during the course of the work. Also, at the end, there were a few stones in one of the walkways that I wanted re-set, and they had someone out right away to fix it to my satisfaction.

The process took three days to complete. CJ and his workmen came when they said they would and were courteous and professional in every way. They completed the work for the exact estimated amount-no surprises. In fact, we asked him to come back and do two door threshold areas to make them also look like old beams. CJ came over soon after and completed that work even though it was a very small job. I believe CJ takes a lot of pride in his work and the finished product and it shows. We would recommend his company to anyone who wants to do something decorative with a concrete floor. With this product that he is using, CJ can make a concrete floor look almost any way you want it to (he can even make it look like hardwood). We are very happy with the result.
Description of Work: We had CJ take a raw concrete floor in a newly constructed room in our basement (about 400 sf) and he made it look like a old tile/stone floor using his products. His workmen prepared the concrete and troweled on a microlayer. The next day they taped off the "stones" and put on another layer (for the base color of the "stone") The third day they lifted the tape to show the "grout marks" (the first color layer) and then used special pigments to color and shade each of the "stones". They also made some step down areas into this space look like old weathered beams. It looks fabulous and is very low maintenance.

This was a great experience with Mr. Salzano as well as the work crew. Though this was a small job, it was given full professional attention and responsiveness. Our old stoop consisted of a 33-year-old poured-concrete slab that was weathered and unattractive. The lower step consisted of large slate stones on a bed of gravel and sand, surrounded by a wood border. The lower step was removed and replaced with a larger and more welcoming structure. Mr. Salzano listened closely to our description of what we wanted, and proposed two excellent solutions. Once we made a choice, his work crew arrived on schedule, worked hard, and showed respect for the job and our property. They were careful not to damage plants around the work area, and cleaned up after themselves. When they were ready to start laying stone, they gave much attention and time to designing the pattern. The crew worked carefully to ensure that adjoining stones were level and properly aligned. The outcome is even better than we had hoped, making the front entry far more graceful and attractive. Throughout the process Mr. Salzano was easy to reach by phone when we had questions. He and his crew were completely responsive to our comments about individual stones or joints, making changes quickly and without question. We would be glad to work with this company again, and we recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Enlarged and updated a single-level concrete-slab front stoop. Added a concrete lower platform and then covered the top and sides of both upper and lower platforms with slate stones. Mortared all joints. Each level is about 4 feet by 8 feet.

We had contacted Salzano Concrete for another project and were impressed with CJ's professionalism and attention to detail. We chose not to go with them for that project because there wasn't a fit with the work we wanted, but when we decided to do the patio, we immediately thought of Salzano and our favorable impressions. CJ worked with us on the design of the patio and incorporated all of the details we wanted and suggested several of his own. He was willing to work to stay within our budget while not compromising our vision. Before we signed the contract, we visited several of their completed jobs. The list is provided on their website and we were abe to visit the ones that used the same/simliar design and colors were were contemplating. I really appreciated having access to this resource, and after several visits, we were convinced that Salzano was right for our project. Because we did not see the color combinations we were considering, CJ went so far as preparing a mock sample of the combination so that we coud make our decision. The job supervisor, Neil, was very professional and communicated well with us. We needed to make several decisions "real-time" and Neil included us appropriately, provided his suggestions to the solution, and executed according with our wishes. The team was neat, orderly, and timely. The entire job took two weeks and, at the end of each day, they cleaned up the work site. At the completion of the job, the team went over and above by raking the remaining dirt even to the new patio and power washing our deck to clean off the residual dust and mud. We are very pleased with our new patio and would highly recommend Salzano for all high-end concrete needs.
Description of Work: Salzano designed and installed a sidewalk from the driveway to the back yard, a stamped concrete patio (approx 20 x 20), and curbing though out the project. The sidewalk was broom brushed to match our other front walkways. Salzano removed the bottom steps of our deck stairs to allow room for the concrete patio. They also needed to adjust our fence gate for concrete clearance.

I could not be happier with the work. The effort that CJ put into helping us understand the options and designs was fantastic. We consider ourselves very picky and he was fantastic at guiding us in the possibilities and helping us pick the right design for us. The excavation, pouring and coloring all happened so quickly once they started and we did not have to wait that long before they started! They did it all without making any mess in the backyard. There were a couple of extra things we wanted with the downspout and things like that and they went above and beyond. They really exceeded expectations!
Description of Work: They installed a beautiful stamped concrete patio under the deck behind our townhouse. We selected the slate look with grouting and it turned out perfect.

In a word, the project was an outstanding success (I guess thats 2 words...but seriously, the project got off to a great start with an interesting and informative design session with C.J.). We decided on colors and patterns to use for the new patio area. C.J. was very patient and accommodating with a few changes that we requested during the course of the project. The project manager and crew were outstanding, we really couldn't have asked for a better and smoother project. We would certainly recommend Salzano Custom Concrete to anyone planning for any decorative concrete. We are very happy with the results and with stamped concrete, what a great alternative to bricks or pavers...no more weeds!
Description of Work: Salzano Custom Concrete designed and installed a new decorative stamped concrete patio for us in our back yard adjacent to our existing swimming pool. We wanted to keep the concrete pool deck, but asked to have a new patio created between the pool deck and the house. C.J. worked with us and designed a great solution using stamped concrete to complement our existing colors and style of our back yard. They also designed and created a decorative landscape wall to accent our planting areas. Overall they helped us to create a great new environment in our back yard to enable us to enjoy our pool area even more than before. It is a great area now and we make more use of it than ever. Great job Salzano Custom Concrete!
