With energy costs on the rise and no end in sight, many home and business owners are feeling the pinch. Here at Central Valley Mechanical we have the solution. Our Geothermal and Hybrid systems can cut energy costs on the average home by up to 60% and for Propane users by up to 70%. Plus with the many Federal and State tax incentives for renewable energy Geothermal has never been more affordable! Want to Pair it with Solar or just add a Photo Voltaic system we do that also! Please see our project photos in the gallery, many of our projects are designed, engineered, and constructed all in house. With Federal Tax Credits of 30% of system costs and State Tax Credits of up to $2,000 why not take advantage? There may even be Utility incentives and rebates available to some customers. With nearly 30 years in business, we are dedicated to providing the best possible solutions for your home or business.

"While looking for parts to convert my boiler back to Natural Gas I was referred to CVM by Carrier (the maker of my boiler) as they were a distributor of Carrier parts and could sell me OEM parts. After calling CVM they talked me into letting them service my boiler instead of just buying the parts and doing it myself (a decision I later regretted) I was told a tech would call to make an appointment. 3 weeks after the initial call I googled CVM finding a different number and called again, emailed some info about my boiler and again was told a tech would call to make an appointment. This time a tech named Jeremiah called and indicated he needed a week to get the proper parts for my boiler. 3 weeks later after hearing nothing I called Jeremiah back and was told Carrier didn't have the right part numbers and they were to blame for the delay, another 3 weeks without any updates I called and was told he had the part and needed to set an appointment. The appointment came and he didnt show, towards the end of the day I called to confirm and Jeremiah told me he was sick and needed to reschedule. Not having any other options I rescheduled a week later again taking time from work and Jeremiah was again late for the appointment but did show and changed the orifices on the burners only. Charging me $400 for half the job and claiming he couldnt continue until the Natural Gas was connected. A week later the Natural Gas was connected and I called both Customer service and Jeremiah requesting requesting an appointment to finish the job, this never happened. After the weather turned cold I called a C&C Mechanical to come finish the job, upon their arrival they informed me the pilot Orifice had not been changed nor had the correct pilot assembly been installed. This technician had counted on this and didnt need to blame Carrier for anything as he had grabbed the correct part on his way over. All in all CVM's customer service is overall a horrible mess and this company is content to let their customers freeze! I dont recommend CVM in the slightest!"

Golden Rule has been serving the Des Moines, IA metro area for over 25 years. We are not just a company; we are a family. As a family-run business, the importance of family has always been at the forefront of our company. Mark and Miranda Paup set out on a new journey in 1999, the company was originally named City Rule and later switched to Golden Rule in 2007. The Golden Rule name was chosen for the reason of what we stand for, treating others how we would want to be treated. In the beginning City, Rule had 4 service trucks. Heating and cooling were added to our services in 2005 and we switched to primary service in 2008. Through the years and many changes, the company continued to grow: more employees, more trucks, and more customers. In the summer of 2024 Golden Rule has now expanded into the metro area of Salt Lake City, UT and will continue to look for more locations in the years to come.

"They were great. I had them do two items. One to check under my kitchen sink for the source of water leaking. It was a simple fix that was to tighten the disposal to the sink. They did this for no charge. They also replaced my ancient furnace in just a few hours and put in a new one/off display vs the old crappy one that was on the wall. The guys were very great and pleasant to talk with and work with."

Neerings Plumbing Heating Air & Electric is a true family owned and operated plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical & bathroom remodeling company. We have been serving the Wasatch front since 1935! One might think that all we do is “Fix broken pipes and furnaces,” but what we really do at Neerings is help others. Since 1935, we have been helping people solve their plumbing and heating problems with our experienced technicians. We repair plumbing, heating, air conditioning & electrical issues- always making sure the systems are operating safely in our customer’s homes and businesses. We always aim to build trust and confidence in those we serve. Our clean, professional technicians show our commitment to serve you. Only the best work is acceptable. Because most problems seem to occur at the most inconvenient times, we always have a technician on call ready to serve you. When we arrive to your home, we literally lay out the Red carpet for you!

"Beware of what you're paying for with Neerings. Paying $500 for a $30 thermocouple that takes less than 10 minutes to install just doesn't seem ethical to me. I know this because I had this same thermocouple replaced last year by Neerings and I put up stink last year when they charged me $500 for work that took about 5 minutes and a $10-$30 standard thermocouple. I work with Neurologist every day who are dealing with serious health issues and they may get paid between $175 hr to $300 hr. I have other examples but this is the most recent. The single star is for the service people and customer service agent, they do know what they're doing and are kind representatives. This said, who ever is responsible for Neering's pricing is without shame and gouging people without regard."

At Comfort Specialist Heating & Cooling we take extreme pride in the quality of our work. We understand what it takes to fulfill a quality project and that is why we are the business that you can trust. All of our customers are treated as the most important asset of our company and that is how we plan to treat you! Please give us a call because we look forward to working with you!

"I recommend staying far away from this company. June 4th our AC unit was serviced by Beau. He completed a diagnostic on our AC unit that was blowing warm air. He advised us we had a leak and that our refrigerant was almost completely empty. We were charged over $1000 for the suggested repairs. He also tried to sell us on a monthly subscription option. So glad we said no, what a joke! Only a month later, our AC again is blowing warm air. The new BBB credited technician we hired determined that the work done by Comfort specialists company caused issues that stressed the unit. Beau overfilled and overcharged the unit when refilling the refrigerant. We emailed and requested a refund since $1000 for work that did not in fact solve the issue and was done incorrectly and caused problems that required a repair should be refunded. Instead of the business responding to our email, we received a completely unprofessional, defensive text message to our personal number from Beau late at night. He took no responsibility and offered no solution. We felt extremely uncomfortable with his aggressive response and have not felt comfortable contacting the company any further. I would advise staying far away from this company. It is companys like this that give the industry a horrible reputation for taking advantage of people."

Heating and air conditioning services FAQs

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.

While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
