Description of Work: They charged over 900 dollars to replace a cracked toilet on an emergency call

Description of Work: The service preformed would be a furnace tune up. All they did was vacuum out the dust , read the gas output and put their sticker on my furnace. The real problem with Whipple is their dooms day attitude toward plumbing repairs. My sewer drain was clogged, they tried to snake it clear and it did not work. They said I should jet it. They wanted $1300 for that. I had another company do it for $299. They offered to video inspect the line for free, they put a poor quality video camera through the line and pointed out some low spots in the line and told me that if they dip any lower I will have to replace the whole line to the street for $30,000. But they can put a liner in for just $17,000, but I should do it right away. I paid another plumber to put a high quality video camera through the line, I have the disk, where Whipple did not give me a disk. This plumber said I would be crazy to replace the line or line it. He told me to just snake it a little more regular. It has been fine . Whipple pulled this same doomsday trick on my 88 year old parents, and the spent $ 17,000 to line their sewer pipe, and another $13,000 to replace their 6 years old furnace. Now maybe they really needed that work done, but I wonder.

Description of Work: I heard the Whipple commercial on the radio offering a Gerber Viper toilet installed for $199 tax and everything included. I was interested in a new toilet for my master bathroom and looked up the Gerber brand on the internet and it sounded really good and it said the normal price was about $400 for the one that Whipple was offering. So I decided to have them come and install one. I was so pleased with it that I decided to call them back and come install two more to update my 34 year old home. I think my installer's name was Brian and he was very nice and talkative and he had years of plumbing experience. I would definitely have them come again for plumbing needs.

Description of Work: I have an annual maintenance plan with Whipple for $20/month. They come out in the spring and fall to service my furnace and air conditioner. My next appointment was this coming Friday. Last night my CO alarm in the basement went off. We finally turned off the power to all alarms, opened the windows in the basement and removed the batteries, so that we could have some sleep. This morning I immediately called Whipple and at noon today I had a technician. In his two hour visit he serviced my furnace and tested my whole house for CO. There was nothing to be found. The technician informed me that I probably had a defective unit and to contact First Alert, which I did and a replacement unit is on its way. However, it was so comforting to have someone check out my house so quickly. I feel perfectly safe. And the cost for this extensive CO testing? Nothing! I was included in the monthly maintenance fee. I will stay with Whipple forever. I trust them!

Description of Work: Whipple Plumbing came quickly in response to my 80 year old mother-in law's phone call to replace a leaky hot water heater. It took two men about 4 hours to make the replacement of the hot water heater. They presented her with a bill of $2400.00. She paid it on the spot. The next day, my husband, her son went to SLC to visit his mom. He asked her about the replacement of the hot water heater. He immediately called Whipple Plumbing to inquire why his mom was charged so much for this job. They told him that the two spent 4 hours in her home replacing the hot water heater. It was an ordinary replacement of a hot water heater and we checked with home depot and lowe's and found the same water heater that was put in her home would sell for about $650.00. They also replaced a regulator valve which can be bought for about $75.00 tops. Final tabulation= 2 plumbers? were paid about $200.00 per hour, give or take a few dollars. Flat out ridiculous. Shame on you Whipple Plumbing!!!!! rip off a 80 year old lady. We tried on several occasions to call and talk with someone in charge at Whipple Plumbing. We were only able to talk with the Receptionist Tina. Finally, after two weeks of our family calling non-stop....my mother in law was refunded $150.00. Thank you very much Whipple Plumbing.

Description of Work: Whipples representative was prompt, clean, thorough, polite, and concerned for the welfare of my property. They came out to check a leak in the water heater they installed this past January. It was a quick, simple repair, and covered under the warranty.
