Precision Garage Door of Salt Lake

Last week, my son backed the car into garage door as it was opening. Chris was very helpful and allowed me to get my garage door functional enough to be able to open and close it. A previous repair person from another service wanted to sell me a new garage door rather than try to fix the door. I do plan to upgrade the doors this summer, and when I do I will contact Chris from Precision Door service.

The provider took advantage of my 65 year old mother, three days after her double hip replacement. My dad is in a nursing home, and Mom lives in their home in South Jordan. The morning of her surgery (November 25th), when her friend came to pick her up, her garage door wouldn't close. Her friend was able to pull the door down manually for that day, but mom was worried about whether her home was secure and wanted to have the problem fixed as soon as possible. She called Precision Door Service from the hospital on the 26th and arranged for them to come on the 28th. There was a nonrefundable $50 service fee. The technician was prompt and polite. He quickly examined the door and told her that he needed to adjust and grease the parts, and gave her a paper with three options: 1. To spend $517.80 on a "good" fix, including replacing two springs, a bearing and a cable. 2. To spend $657.75 on a "better" fix, including the above plus an end bearing plate. 3. To spend $965.75 on the "best" fix, including the above plus 14 rollers. Still on drugs from the surgery, she told him that the springs had been replaced earlier in the year (which I verified through her credit card statements), and asked him to check them again. She said that the price was outrageous, and she was on a fixed income and couldn't afford a $500 bill on the day after her surgery. He said he was very sorry about that but nothing could be done, and she opted for the $517.80 option. He performed the work and left less than a half hour after he arrived. My mom was very clear that the technician seemed like a nice guy who was just doing his job. I feel extremely upset, for a few reasons. First, it appears that she could have bought a complete new garage door opening system for less than the cost of the fix. If we had only been in town that week, my fiance and I would gladly have helped her install one. Second, from the website, she was clearly entitled to a senior discount which was never offered to her. Third, and most of all, she three days past a major surgery, medicated and alone on the week of Thanksgiving. She was vulnerable and they took advantage of her. I have no idea how such a company has earned a recommendation from Angie's List.

The installer was wonderful, he make sure everything was done great. The service scheduler on the other hand, ordered the wrong window size, even after I told him what size I needed. Thank goodness the installer knew to call me before he picked up the window from the warehouse. Sure enough the scheduler had ordered the wrong size. It wasn't the first time either. When I was getting my new replacement door installed, the scheduler ordered the wrong size of panels. Again, I told him what I needed. The installer had to come to my house on three different days just to get what should have been a one day job done. Maybe the scheduler has more work than he can handle and gets his orders confused. Don't know but I think he could use a helper. Also, the company never told me that they were on Angie List, so I didn't get the discount. But I guess it was my fault to not paying attention. Showed up on time and performed work in an hour or so. Seemed really expensive but had to pay 49 dollars for service call so kind of stuck. Didn't install light bulbs so had to do it myself. Programmed my car to open door but it does not work. I called after because door would not close. He said he would come back and then forgot the appointment. Came at 8 or 9 at night. Despite the service the doors still screech. They are working now. Do not think I would use them again due to cost.

Although the products they offered were not in our price range, we appreciate the courteous service provided at no cost to us.

General garage door maintenance-greased tracks, replaced rollers, etc.

The repairman performed the tune-up and replaced the metal rollers with better quality ones. Everything looked good, but the door was still having problems opening and closing. I called Precision Overhead Doors and the same repairman came back. He checked everything out and said that the motor itself was broken, and it would cost almost as much to fix as to replace. I decided to replace the old motor with a new Precision motor, which is amazingly silent. He gave me a discount since I had purchased the Big Deal coupon. I have been very happy with the quality of the product he installed. I have had no problems with this garage door since then.

They did a nice job. They had a lot of choices for the door to choose from, and I chose what was best. The installation of the door and parts went well. I plan on using them in the future if needed.

They have done good work. We have used a few times with no problems. We would use them again. They assisted us with choosing the best door for our need. We would use them again.

over all it was good. I was concerned that he suggested a lot more work than was needed, but after he got a second opinion from one of the people at his business then only adjustments were made to the door.

Again, the work was good but the bill seemed expensive. I'd get a couple of bids before I used this company again.

My garage door failed on a friday and I couldn't get time to look at it until saturday. I went to Angies list and found several top rated companies but only one that had work hours on sunday that wasn't listed as 'emergency hours'. I called and they had a service person there by 2:00 pm on sunday. He was very professional, knew excatly what he was talking about and had the door back in operation within an hour. He was very courteous, did all the work he had promised and did not try to sell me anything above what I actually needed. I was very pleased.

It's absolutey wonderful to have a new and powered garage door---a great convenience. However, there are a few items (normal expectations, really) that could have worked in the favor of the company rather than becoming a detraction. Item 1. After installation, it became apparent that the installer did not pre-measure the tracks, because the door ended up being off center. The bright metal edge seaming, normally hidden, shows along the entire side of the opening. Item 2. The installer gave me some edge liner I could install myself to hide the raw metal edge. That was appreciated, and I would have overlooked the off center problem if he had conceded error and installed the edge liner himself. Item 3. After the job was done there were black marks (dirt, grease, etc.) on the inside of the door. When I asked about them, rather then quickly clean them off, he replied upon leaving, "Well, that's the way they came to us; you can probably take a rag to them yourself". And left.

Generally happy with the original work and efficiency of service. Service provider was polite, focused and efficient. Value for the work done was very good. Somewhat disappointed that the door started to creak after only a couple of months, this with new rollers, etc. I put some additional lubrication and tightened some of the rollers, which helped.

We set up a service for our garage door opener. They arrived on time and performed the service efficiently. They did up-sell my wife. She ended up purchasing new springs. They said that ours were old and one was not working at all. I was not there and have no idea how accurate that was. We originally called them because our master bedroom is over our garage and I leave for work in the early morning. The garage door woke my wife up. They also tried to sell us a new garage door opener for an additional $500. I can say that the new springs and the servicing (with new rollers) made the door work more quietly and my wife sleeps through the garage door opening and closing. It does seem that they use the Angie's Big Deal to get their foot in the door to up-sell you other services.

The service was great. They were prompt and showed up when they said they would. They also stuck to the price they said they would.

They came out the same day I called them. They did a good job. There was one mistake but they caught it and they are fixing it. The technician was very nice. It only took him an hour and everything was up and running.
