Manwill Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

We have used Manwill Plumbing for close to 20 years for all our major plumbing needs, This year we decided to do away with our ceiling Evaporative Cooler and install central air. Katie came out, measured our home and estimated that we would need two units because of the way our furnaces were set up. We did have other bids, one a little lower, but decided to stay with Manwill because of our past history with them. We were not disappointed! The installers and supervisors who came when small issues cropped up were all very knowledgeable and professional. The men worked in our home for 2-1/2 days and were very polite and concerned about doing their work correctly. They always let us know what time they would start the next morning. Unfortunately, they had to run a new thermostat line because our old one would not carry the proper current. A one foot by one foot hole was made in our family room ceiling as neatly as possible and they said they would send a repair person to fix the area. I am currently waiting for a call but have no doubt they will follow through. All in all a good experience.

The problem was NOT the work. That was done well and I have no gripes with them. My problem was with billing. Every time I asked the price it fluctuated between $13,000 and $14,300. I finally got so frustrated I asked for an itemized bill, and received a handwritten list of 5 things done to my house totaling $14,300. That ended up being revised again because we were mischarged for labor. Because I could never figure out how much I was actually being charged I had to keep contacting them. I was told that it was because Sarge, the man who did the work, didn't keep written records so they didn't really know. I expressed that because they never really knew what I should be charged for my trust was broken. The problem, again, was not the work. It was having a company who does not keep accurate records of what work is being done and what I should be charged for it. This was a huge job for us and a lot of money. We finally just gave up and paid to be done with it instead of bickering. If Manwill has changed its policy and is keeping track of work done and what customers are charged for then they are great. But in the meantime, I felt like since the cost changed I was being misled.

Did a good job replacing water heater, but felt it was a little pricey. not as punctual as I would have liked.

No job is without hiccups, which is why I rate vendors according to how they deal with the hiccups that inevitably come, and ensure quality in the end. By this measure, Manwill scores an A+. Had a couple small issues with the installation of the Nest, and they were out literally the next day making sure everything was perfect. The installers worked in my house from 9am to 8pm, to get the job done in a day as promised. I repeat: Manwill worked an 11 hour day. I gut remodeled my house over 6 months, and never had any sub work a day like this to achieve a promise -- and with non-stop professionalism and minimal disruption to boot. They are not the cheapest in town, but you get your money's worth. Would use again every time.

Manwill sent their employee the same day I called. It turned out that the furnace and water heater had already had the required changes made, but the "green sticker" had not been provided. The price went down, and the contractor cleaned our space, gave us some very helpful hints about our equipment and we are so happy to recommend this company!

Although previously I had spent thousands of dollars to have Manwill replace my furnace and my water softener, they refused to even come out to my home to look at my frozen pipes unless there was water gushing out of them (I was willing to pay them for the diagnostic.) As it turned out a pipe inside the house by an outside wall in the basement had frozen solid and burst at a connection. When the thaw came water would have flooded my wall and finished basement. I am so thankful that Tingey Plumbing was willing to deal with me and come out. Tingey came out and found the frozen pipe burst pipe, showed it to me and replaced it. I know Manwill has great grades and a thriving business which is why I chose them to replace my furnance and water softener two years ago but my perception is that they are a little smug.

It was a good experience. They took out the old water heater and put in a new one. They were courteous, clean and it's up to the budget they quoted.

I had two bathtub valves that leaked unless closed extremely tight. Access to the valves was poor due to 1930's construction. Called Manwill and made an appointment for the next morning. Jaron was here right on time. He was able to remove the old valves - no easy task as they were decades tight - and install new valves plus a replace a corroded spout in less than an hour. They caulked and did a great clean up job. VERY pleased that it cost under $100. Thanks again Manwill!!

They were great. They had to order the water heater and they were able to fix everything. They were very prompt and came right away. They came that day when I told them it was an emergency. They ordered the parts they needed, fixed what they could and made another appointment to come back. I think their pricing was fair. The quality of their service was good.

I am bowled over! Manwell came out to do a furnace inspection on a new property. I didnt know the history of the furnace but saw densely covered filter and thought... it needs a service check to see how its working. The serviceman arrived on time and called ahead to make sure I was ready. He was professional and courteous. Once he left I started to think about what I didnt see him do and wondered "shouldn't he have...." I started to write a review of my last interaction with Manwill and thought, "If Im not happy I should call them and see if they will resolve my concern". I did. I jotted a quick note on a Saturday morning and within a few hours the OWNER called me to resolve my concerns. He went above and beyond and sent another installer out so I could ask questions etc. The installer gave me great advice about the life and current condition of my furnace and took a quick look at my water heater too. WOW. I would totally recommend them ! I will use them again when I need heating or plumbing help.

Called Manwill to have Napoleon gas fireplace cleaned and adjusted per fireplace manual recommendation along with checking for CO and bid for gas line for a gas stove. Receptionist said service call would be $49, gave no other details about cost. Tyler checked for CO with fireplace and furnace. I asked about cleaning the fireplace and he said it wasn't necessary and didn't need to be cleaned. The fireplace insert was Not replaced squarely and we had to reset it since there was a 1 inch open gap on the left side after Tyler left. Gas line estimated to be between 400-500 dollars or time and materials. Asked for estimate in writing, refused to give estimate in writing because of fears that job would cost more. I again asked for written estimate, saying a range was fine but I didn't want to pay a 1000 dollars once they started working. He responded that I didn't want to get ripped off and I said yes. (Who wants to get ripped off?!?! And what kind of contractor is unwilling to give a written bid estimate?) When I insisted on a written bid but that a range was still okay, he said he'd have to call his boss. He called his boss on his cell phone and emphasized (in front of me) that he had a customer who wanted an exact bid on a gas line. I was taken aback since this was the first company I have ever dealt with that refused to give me a written bid for work. When paying I asked how much I owed and that the office had said $49 for the service call. He replied that the $49 is for the first 15 minutes and that he had been there about 45 minutes so I now owed him $93 but he wanted me to be happy so he would lower it to $71. I had an Angie's list coupon for $10 off and I assumed he had taken that off before I wrote the check. But he had not taken it off. By this point I just wanted him gone and I didn't want to rewrite the check so he said I could save the coupon for a future visit. He heard back from his boss. The 400-500 dollar verbal bid (that couldn't be put in writing) jumped to a firm written bid of $637. Very glad there was no CO. Disappointed in being made to feel like a fool for: -asking to have the fireplace cleaned -having to reset the fireplace correctly -not knowing about the pricing structure -daring to ask for a written bid If I call them back I hope future visits will go better but I feel like I paid $71 for a CO check and a bid that I had to specifically request to get into writing that should have been standard policy. Plus they still didn't clean the fireplace like I had requested.

Of course, the holiday weekend. I noticed water on the floor in the utility room. yep, hot water heaters. I called a friend of mine who is a plumber, he was out of town. I logged into Angie's list and called just about everyone with more than a 3 star review. The ONLY place that I didn't have to leave a message, in hopes they would call back, was Manwill's. They sent Dale to my house. He arrived within 20 minutes of my call. He was great, He bypassed the ruptured water heater to the barley working one so I would have hot water for a few days when they could return with 2 new ones to install. A few days later, Jimmy and Chris arrived and installed 2 water heaters...They were honest (checking with my friend who is a plumber about pricing) clean and prompt. Most of all they educated us on the entire system and how to set to vacation mode, emergency shut off's and the how to start the pilot light. AND...they were nice to my dog :) Thanks guys!

Steve is very friendly, professional and patient with my questions. He did find a problem, explained it all to me in great detail and then he and his office researched for me and found out the part was still under warranty! So kind! He returned the very next day to replace it with a minimal labor charge. I highly recommend Manwill - a local company, too!

Bill D did an excellent job on our annual service. My wife and I had numerous questions concerning the care of our furnace, humidifier and water heater. All these questions were thoroughly and politely answered. We plan to call Manwill for our future heating and plumbing service.

Martin arrived within the scheduled time frame, diagnosed the problem and had the replacement part on the truck. He installed it and was on his way in about 30 minutes. The price was very reasonable and was the price he quoted, no hidden charges or fees. Martin was courteous and friendly and we would certainly use Manwill again. We highly recommend them.

This was a complete and professional service call by a highly qualified technician. Bill D. of Manwell was right on time with all the necessary equipment, dressed clean and proper. He cleaned up afterwards. But most important he took time to explain and describe exactly how my systems are designed to work and offered important details that were never explained when I had the systems installed. I have 3 different types of filters, and Bill explained how each works and showed me how to properly clean and maintain everything. Before leaving he asked if I had any additional questions, then gave me his card and told me to call if anything came up for which I had questions.

The problem was diagnosed quickly. The technician had the parts in his truck. The part was replaced and the technician gone in no more than 30 minutes. All went well but I thought the price was too high.

They showed up earlier than estimated and the plumber was patient in answering all of my questions and even replaced an extra pipe for me that I hadn't originally requested. Twice now they've provided amazing service and at a cost that I thought was way more than reasonable. They gave me an estimate for ~$1400 to replace all of the galvanized piping in my house (built in 1956) and I was expecting twice that! I can't recommend this company enough. They are dependable, cost effective and professional in all aspects.

Used for repairing a pipe. We were thinking we'd have to pay $500+ but it was half the price and they did (as always) do a great job! We used them a few months back for our cooling system and were so pleased we used them again!!

Brent Bryant from Manwill came to my home to do an estimate for a complete air conditioning system. He left saying he'd send an estimate by email. After 2 weeks I emailed Brent but no answer. I called a week later and again he said he'd send an estimate but never did and hasn't been in contact.

Bill D. was very thorough and gave me helpful suggestions for future maintenance. He also answered my questions concerning installing a whole house air purifier. I would definitely call this provider in the future. The charge was very reasonable for the work performed (and I believe he gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member.)

The service professional from Manwill had our AC working again in a few minutes. He determined that we needed a circuit board, not a new blower or furnace. The board cost around $500. The blower and furnace would have been thousands! It is disgusting that some providers are able to fool people with a fake sincere "your blower is shot" We are very happy with the excellent and honest service provided by Manwill and will be using them for our future heating and air conditioning needs.

They showed up 15 minutes early (A++++) put down a dropcloth so they didn't dirty up anything. Considerate of my cat, very polite and professional!

Jaren and Braden did a great job installing a 50 gallon hot water heater in a very cramped crawl space. They were very neat and clean and even cleaned up before they left. They made sure that I understood all of the features before they left. I would definitely hire Manwill again.
