FORTRESS ROOFING

I know it was a small job, but waited all day for them to show up on my day off then at 4pm they call and said due to the rain they could not make it.

We asked the price and it was in our ball park. Then there was a long wait, they indicated it was because they were busy. Finally a man came and did the work needed plus cleaned out the gutters for us and cleaned the cedar shakes off that they didn't use. We are very satisfied with the work this company did for us.

Worked with Mike as the rep from Fortress. They had done work for me in the past (siding), and their consultants were honest with me a couple of years ago when I asked them to look at my roof's condition (sections looked bad, but at the time they told me I could get a couple more years out of it). I went with them based on past experience, and the quality of the materials they would use on the job. They got is in ahead of schedule and worked very quickly. They were meticulous in clean up, and ensured there was no left over debris in my yard at the end of EACH workday (not just at the end of the job). I liked that the roofers were Fortress employees, and not contractors, as this made me feel even more secure about the job. The roof looks exceptional. They also put in a nice ridgeline vent system. Not the cheapest job, but we certainly have the best looking roof in the subdivision now. Its a quality job that will last.

Only 2 of the 5 roofers we contacted for bids actually climbed up on the roof and looked it over (2 of them didn't even come to the house!). Mike Marino from Fortress was one of them and was by far the most thorough. He examined the entire roof and even went into the attic to look at it from underneath. He told us about a problem he found that we could fix ourselves when the roofers removed the old shingles and even described how we could do it. He gave a very thorough and professional bid, explaining in detail all that they would do. He was also very honest; he called the next day after giving us a bid and said that he had added in an extra layer of shingle removal, and the bid would be $900 less than he had quoted. Mike showed up to check on the job at the beginning and again at the end to make sure we were satisfied and that the crews had cleaned up thoroughly. The crew that removed the old shingles was very professional, worked quickly (and hard), and did an incredible job of cleaning up afterwards. We couldn't find even a piece of paper on the ground when they were done. They asked questions to make sure they were doing everything the way we wanted it, and we appreciated that. The old roof had wood extending from the edge on one side that had to be cut off to make the edge even all the way around. There were a few places in the roof that required replacing some wood, and rather than charging us for new wood, they used the scraps that they had cut off, which they said actually fit better than new wood. The 2-man crew that installed the roofing did a fantastic job. They finished in 2 days--in the rain! Everything was done just the way we wanted it without damaging or even moving anything that was already there, like the rain gutters. The edge of the roof is finished off beautifully all the way around. They even went the extra mile and painted all the exposed vents and pipes to match the roof. And their cleanup, too, was immaculate. The new roof really sets off our house. We love it!

I thought it was a good price. It was really fair. They were very timely. He was very professional and I was very happy with it. There was a little communication problem trying to get it set up but once it was set up, everything went really smoothly.

We got them from Angie's List. Adam Cordon is the owner. They explained everything they were going to do, and they did what they said they would. The people who did the work were excellent. When they were done, they cleaned up everything. They took a metal detector over the whole yard to get rid of the nails. Their work was excellent. They solved a problem we have had for forty years in this house. It was a leaking problem. It was constant because we have center drains in the roof. They did an absolutely perfect job on it. I plan on using them again in the future; I have another home that they are going to roof for me.

Corey was late after working in Ogden and did not judge the distance from there to Sandy in a timely manner. We had to reschedule. Corey provided lots of reading material (too much). Corey's price was very high, but he did try to re-crunch the numbers to get a lower price. Coreyl seemed a bit scattered, overwhelmed with all he had to do with another job. Corey did not remember our estimate which he did because our name was incorrectly recorded, even though it was only a few days before. Corey did followup calls after the estimate, which I appreciated.

The work was done on time, and the results were exceptional. We have an old pioneer home. The cedar shingle roof is beautiful. They did a great job cleaning up. We were impressed with their follow-up visits to make sure that everything met our expectations. We would recommend fortress roofing without reservation.

My experience with Foretress Roofing was great from the first call. They were very responsive and presented me with a bid within one day. The bid was in the ballpark of others. One bid I received was so low that I just couldn't trust the workmanship given that difference in price. Corey worked with me to pick the roof tiles and kept me up to date on the schedule and fluctuations in work based on weather conditions. Overall a great experience. Thank you!

Cory Cooper was our salesmen and job supervisor. He was very professional and knowledgeable of the entire process and products, They started on time as promised and completed in the three days quoted. The yard was clean each day and now damage to plants in our yard. We had 4 bids in total and Fortress was the best overall bid. They even included our utility shed in the backyard so that it would match our house. We love our new roof and the color is perfect. Thank you Fortress and Cory for a job well done.

I called for an estimate on rain gutter installation on a Friday morning. I was told that someone would get back with me that day. They finally contacted me on Monday afternoon. Instead of receiving a written estimate, I wrote the amount of the quote on the back of a business card I was given. It turns out that they were higher than the other two estimates I received. I did not use them.

We got 3 estimates for this job, and Fortress was actually the high bid. However, as we closely examined the bids we could see the reason for the higher price: better quality material than either of the other companies offered. Everything about our dealings with Fortress was highly professional. Of the 3 bidders, they were the only one to come and meet with us personally and the estimate involved actually getting on the roof and directly inspecting it. Once we accepted their bid and made a 50% down payment we were quickly put on schedule for about 10 days later. A major snowstorm delayed the work by a couple of days. I was expecting the storm to completely shut down roofing, and was amazed when I found it only delayed things by the amount of time the storm kept the crews off the roofs; even though we had about a foot of snow on the roof on the scheduled day, Fortress showed up with a crew and shoveled off the snow and started the tear-off. The whole job took about 3 days. The only thing that was slow was the time they took to invoice us for the final payment. The new roof looks great, does not leak, and comes with a guarantee. We are very happy with the whole process. I would certainly use Fortress again, but hope and believe I will never need to!

I did have some problems with them, but they took care of it. Once the owner Adam came to check on me several months after the project, we went up to the roof and discovered there were many problems. He immediately set it up to be taken care of. He promptly fixed the problem and everything was fine. After that I would certainly recommend him. In fact, I did, and my neighbors used him with no issues at all. Adam is extremely good to work with. He is helpful, professional, and knowledgeable.

They were very good to tell us what they were going to do and to make sure all our questions were answered. They did a good job cleaning up when they were finished. However, we did have to call them to find out when they would be able to do the job (which was a couple of weeks out) and then call again when it got closed to confirm that the date. I feel they should have called us to confirm. Cory did the estimate and missed some of the complicated parts of the job. THis expertise is pitched roofs and he is still learning flat roofs. The job was estimated to take one day and actually took two days. But the guys doing the work didn't rush. They took the time and the care to do it right.

I contacted Fortress to give me an estimate on this job, primarily based on the reviews here on Angie's List. The woman I spoke to on the phone was friendly and professional, and told me I would hear from someone soon who would come up and give me a bid. That was several weeks ago, and still no response. I ended up going with another company who was much more responsive and is already doing the work.

Overall, the work went well. We had miscommunication about the removal of the roof vents resulting in no outlet for the bathroom fan. The work was redone to our satisfaction to get the fan operational again. Had some dissatisfaction with how the downspouts were positioned in a couple of locations. The work was redone to our satisfaction. The debris was cleaned up promptly and hauled away when the old roof was removed. The final price was as quoted except for the replacement of about 100 sq feet of damaged roof deck which was discovered when the work was in progress. This additional work was approved before being performed. We were pleased with our experience with Fortress Roofing and would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

He did all the work in a timely and efficient manner. Everything was left in a clean and orderly manner. The only way I knew they were there was the cap on the roof was gone. I consider $275 a fair price and am very happy with the work done. I would recommend them highly.

Very professional in staying in touch with me on when and what needed to be done. They let me know right away, that they would be busy a few days elsewhere and it would be a week or two at the most before they could get to me. I was very pleased with how soon they got on the job though. It wasn't a very big job either. He did try, and not too pushy, to sell me a whole new roof replacement. I think I can get at least 5 more years out of this roof. Their estimate was $80 less than the final bill. I think it took them a little longer than they originally thought. I'm satisfied with the bill however.

Have recently purchased a new home with a non standard roof and wanted a professional opinion on some shoring and construction work. Cory from Fortress came out, gave it an inspection and gave the roof an OK. I feel I received a very professional and honest opinion. Would definitely use again.

I called and made an appointment and the company representative showed up on time. It took about an hour for him to evaluate the job. The price was close to the other estimate I had. The problem was is I have a very low pitch roof. And the previous time I had the roof replaced they had used singles which we had nothing but problems. So this time we decided to go with another company who used membrane instead of singles.

After obtaining several bids, I selected Fortress. They were very price competitive and knew their stuff. They showed up when they said they would. The weather forecast was problematic for the first couple of days so they made a go/no go decision each morning and informed me of that decision each day until they started. They did the tear off in one day including all of the cleanup and haul off and did an excellent job. There was no trace of any kind. Putting the new roof on took another couple of long days. They took the time to do it right and worked from first light to dark each day. Finally, the gutter team came and got the gutters installed in about a day and a half. Total job took almost exactly a week. The only issue I found after they were done was that the newly painted vents on the roof made the old galvanized topper I had on the chimney look even worse. They willingly came out and painted it even though it was technically not part of the roof job. Bottom line - I was extremely pleased with the price, speed, professionalism and quality of the job they did. I would highly recommend them to anyone look for roof work.

Initial bid was very professional, informative and responsive. Items that I had not considered were presented and discussed in detail. I had chosen 5 different roofing companies for a base line of cost and services. Fortress Roofing was impressive and stood out, their price point was essentially in the middle of the various roofing companies. The representative, Cory, was very helpful and even managed to inform me of items that I was considering, but, were not of real bennefit to my particular project, thus, saving me considerable money. My roofing project was completed in two days, the first was the tear off, the second the actual roofing. All, was well organised and efficient. New gutters were installed several days later, and were included in the overall price. The installer of the gutters, was also very helpful and informative. I am pleased with the quality of all the work involved. I appreciate the calibre of the presentation, information and the work performed.

Both days the crews got right on the job and did the work they were there for. Really hot days and I got them ice and water.
