DO hire 5 Step Carpet Cleaning - DON'T hire anyone else, you'll regret it!!! I have cleaning OCD (as does my wife) and after hiring SEVERAL other companies and being dissatisfied; we found Tom. He's been a quarterly fixture in our home ever since, we absolutely LOVE him!

He was very prompt in reply as well as in arrival & very personable. However, i wish I had known in advance what his method of carpet cleaning was because I would not have chosen him. Some people may be satisfied with a "top/surface" cleaning of carpets but I highly prefer the extraction/steam cleaning method. Since he was already at my home I didn't really have a choice. I also was surprised that he arrived alone as I thought that he would be moving the "movable" pieces of furniture...ie: couch, chairs & tables. We had moved all smaller items out of every room so he would have room to put the other pieces of furniture as he cleaned. I was equally surprised when he moved nothing. We had no expectation of him moving the very heavy items such as beds & dressers. Not one piece of furniture was moved...with the exception of the kitchen table that I helped him move at my request so he could "clean" the rug beneath. We also have a pet that had had a few accidents in one area of the house. He "pre-treated" the area's that he said he found & then continued to clean. After the carpet dried, there were white spots at every site that he treated. Clearly not cleaned. We were very disappointed with the work done & decided to rent a machine & re-do the entire job ourselves with a steam cleaner & the extraction method. It was astounding how much dirt we removed only one month after paying to have the entire house cleaned. I am not someone who readily gives negative review's but I truly wish I had known the type of cleaning method he used & whether or not he would be moving the furniture. I would have chosen someone else.

The stains are gone, including the pet stains, and the carpet looks amazing. I will definitely call Tom again.

They had the top rating on Angie's list. I called and they came out and they did a good job.

Mr. Fitch and his employee arrived on time and started work shortly after. They were friendly and courteous. They did a thorough job. Their work looked great. Much better than I expected it would. They even did some extra work that wasn't related to the cleaning without being asked and at no additional cost. I had planned on replacing some of the carpet they cleaned, before long, but it looks so good I think we will keep it a while longer.

He is good. He uses non-toxic chemicals. He is thorough. I would rate him highly and would use him again in the future; in fact, I will be calling him today.

I called five step to get a bid. "I have 4 rooms, small hall, and stairs. About how much would that cost" He went into this long diatribe on how they clean by the exact square foot. I told him it was a smaller home, about 1800 square feet total on 2 levels. He said, "I'll take that number, divide by 2, multiply that by about .22. Then for the stairs, it's about $1 per linear foot. Your stairs about usually about 3 feet wide, there are about 15 steps in the normal home, so add about $45 for the stairs." I paused, waiting for maybe a ball park figure. No answer. I finally said, "I guess I'll get my calculator and figure it out." He apologized and said he was driving, or he would figure it out. Not that I blame him, but I really like the "4 rooms for $100 and we'll throw in the stairs" type ads that are on the radio. I just need a ball park figure, and maybe something more solid at the time of cleaning. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't expect a math lesson, and to have to give exact measurements, or whip out my calculator to get a bid. I wasn't impressed. A+ for quick answering C- for bid process

I was in a rush to get my spring cleaning done, so I called Tom on Tuesday and he was able to clean my carpets on Friday. He showed up a little early, but called first to get permission. I was madly trying to plow my driveway when came, so he helped me finish. He was very efficient and helpful. I was not familiar with his method of cleaning, but WOW! My carpets look better than they have ever looked after cleaning. I will never go back to the old steam method that soaks your carpets with soap and causes tracking issues. They are beautiful and he did a great job... Thanks!

I called just before New Year's and was able to make an appointment for the following Monday. Tom was on time. He walked through the house with me noting trouble spots and furniture that could or could not (or should or should not) be moved. Then he went to work. My two young kids were home and it was cold out, so we were inside most of the time Tom was working. Even with them under foot much of the time (despite my best efforts), Tom very happily worked around them. The work was done in a couple of hours. Tom set up our fans in the areas that were most likely to need it (like the stairs, where there's little air circulation). I was very pleased with the results. I was familiar with this cleaning technique (multiple spinning bonnets to scrub the carpet fibers, minimal liquid involved), and sought it out because I know it's effective and dries quickly. Tom estimated that the carpet would be dry in two hours, and most of it was dry sooner than that. The final cost was also about $20 under what he'd estimated, which was pleasant.

Tom and Matt did a wonderful job cleaning our carpet. They were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They also have an environmentally friendly system which is important to our household. I especially appreciated Tom giving me tips about using a little Bissell Spotbot I purchased and also information about how to handle pet problems between professional cleanings. He also made a suggestion which I was very glad I followed. I had decided not to have my bedroom done to save a little money. He gave me a very good price for including it and I was pleased afterward that my bedroom carpet was as clean and soft as the rest of the rooms we had done. Thanks Tom and Matt! We will definitely use you again and will be recommending you to our family and friends.

Tom was willing to give me an estimate over the phone which I appreciated. I was also grateful to have an exact appointment time rather than a two hour window to wait around. Tom and Matt arrived early and were very efficient. Tom was very accommodating when I asked if they could clean a second sofa as well as when I asked if he could get the pet stains out of the carpet. He was realistic with the probable results which were much better than I had imagined. I now use the room much more, including for morning stretches...lying on the carpet! I would feel comfortable leaving the key under the mat for these guys next time.

Five step Carpet care did an excellent job at a reasonable price without all the extra add ons. I was pleasantly surprised when the carpets were completely dry after 2 hours as promised. Tom and his technician moved all furniture that needed to be moved at no extra charge.

The whole experience was great. I used a couple of sources to help decide on calling the company. When I called and spoke with the owner, Tom, he walked me through the costs and what I could expect as far as cleaning. Because I didn't have the exact measurements of the areas to be cleaned his quote was approximate and he was pretty well on the mark. I set up an appointment for the cleaning and Tom and his assistant arrived on time. They set right to work and did a great job, stains (they were in our kids' rooms and probably been there for years, if not a decade) I thought we would have to live with were taken up. Tom presented a realistic assessment of certain stains (red ones); he was able to remove several and fade a couple more. The time quoted for the job to be completed was accurate. The carpet looked great when finished and I was really pleased with the results of the stairs. Tom and his assistant were professional, pleasant to deal with and very careful and considerate of our home. I appreciated his honest assessment of the stains, which could come up and which might not. My husband, who is difficult to please, was very impressed with the job. And I am pleased we now have someone we can call to clean our carpets.

For a 1270-plus sq foot carpet I paid $280 - that was a great price! We were moving into a new house that had some carpet stains in the supposedly new carpet. If you go to his website there are coupons for 1st time customers. The one I used gave me free stairs cleaning (up to 15 steps) which was a pretty hefty discount. He uses environmentally friendly carpet cleaning solution which was important to me because of my two small babies that will be crawling around. He arrived promptly, was friendly and courteous, very detailed, gave me some options to replace some bleach spots on my brown carpet (but I didn't take advantage of it this time because we eventually plan to replace the carpet in a couple years after we move into this new home). They did the job quickly but without skimping on quality and also even got the mysterious black stain out of the main family room. His assistant Matt was super-nice and respectful. I will hire them again for sure. I thought the prices were very competitive.

Everything went well. Initially I had a few reservations since I didn't get any sort of receipt or written estimate (only verbal) at the time of pick up. However, when the carpets were delivered and the price was as originally stated. Overall, I am very pleased.

Our dog got sick and made multiple messes on the carpet. Despite our efforts to clean the spots ourselves, they were still visible and there was an odor in the house. We had wanted to clean the carpets for some time and with the new pet stains and smell, it now needed to be done, and soon. I called Tom from Five Step Carpet Care and explained my situation. He worked up a preliminary estimate over the phone and arranged to come right over in the afternoon. He was prompt, courteous, friendly, professional and honest. The final price came in under the estimate and the carpet looks fantastic. The spots are gone and the house smells great. Best of all, he uses environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. If I could, I'd upload a photo to show how great the carpet looks. I'm very pleased. The entire process from evaluation to completion took about two hours for our 750 sq feet of carpet and 17 stairs. I feel like I received outstanding service for a more than reasonable price - especially on short notice. Not only would I call Five Step Carpet Cleaning again, I will be calling them again next year. The price is right and the service was awesome!

No story everything went as planned.

FABULOUS! GREAT! USE THIS COMPANY! Tom did an outstanding job cleaning our carpets. He has great advice on keeping them nice, and gave me tips on cleaning our wood and travertine floors as well(he did not clean those this time, but he can clean them as well). He is friendly, a very hard worker, and really cares about customer service. He took extra care in cleaning our family room saying, "I want this to be clean enough that I would feel comfortable playing with MY kids on the floor." The best part is that he uses all green cleaning techniques. There are no toxic chemicals or smells in the house, no hoses running all over the house connected to a running engine outside. The carpets were dry within about 4 hours(during winter).

Tom arrived early for the job, it is his company and he does the work. He uses "green" products and much less water than the previous carpet cleaners I have used. There is no soggy carpet feel, and the areas were only slightly damp within 2 hours. He worked for 6 hours, moving most furniture out of the way. Another plus, he vacuumed the whole area before he cleaned it. Plus, he kept assuring me that if I was not satisfied, he would return and fix or try to anything that needed it. Another plus, Tom was a really personable guy, I would trust him to come in and clean even if I were unable to be at home.
