I'm thinking a lot of people didn't call him back seeing how he got upset that I didn't return his phone call because I've been working out of town for the last two months. It's impossible to see the future but this individual obviously thinks that you should return every phone call or every email that you received even if you're already obligated to something else. It's a first come first serve basis we are a small Ma and Pa shop so your phone call may or may not get returned depending on what we are already working on. If I had a secretary I would Yell at her.

We did not have them perform any work, just an estimate.
Description of Work: We only had them do an estimate. They were friendly, punctual, and seemed to provide a good product. The person who did the estimate seemed to know his stuff. Ultimately we went with another company, mostly because of financial limits. The other company we chose did equal or better work, for a more reasonable price. We were also given lots of referrals with the company we chose to either call or look at. We were impressed with the ones we checked out, and the price was within our budget.

Response from DC Cabinet Co
I was out of town during this bid and had a cabinet builder take measurements and info. We talked about a walnut kitchen and I put together an estimate for that and alder. They went with a bigger out fit in town which I had heard good things about, but as far as product goes, I have yet to see any company use as much "real" wood product as me and build the cabinet boxes as stout are good as me. We simply don't skimp on anything when it comes to our cabinets. From the hardware to the thickness of drawer boxes to the finish. We generally are more in cost, but as the old common rule of economics goes, "you get what you pay for". Some clients are fine with a good cabinet face and construction that works but could be much better, but my reputation has my clients asking for my product. I did try to sell prefab cabinets for a month or so. I had to stop, it looked good but was altimately a poor product. I couldn't in good conscience sell a poor quality product avaliable from everyone else. I have to separate myself from the rest.

We were in the midst of a master bedroom/bathroom remodel and wanted to have a custom vanity and storage cabinets built for the bathroom. I contacted several cabinet makers both recommended by Angie's List and recommended by our general contractor and found Dan Cano to be our best choice. While his bid was a little higher than some of the other bids, I found him to posess the amount of professionalism that I would expect in any contractor. He was very prompt to his appointments and provided me his professional opinion where needed. Once we signed a contract with him, he kept me updated on the progress of the cabinets by sending me iMessages with pictures and details we still needed to work out. He initially estimated 4 weeks, but got them installed a week early. I now have 2 great pieces of furniture, which exceeded my expectations. They look great! During the course of the three weeks it took to build the furniture we had the need arise to fix some hardwood flooring. Being a general contractor, Dan recommended someone who immediately came out and was able to fix the hardwood floor within the week. He was a great guy to work with and we will most likely use him for future remodels.
Description of Work: Built a bathroom vanity and storage cabinets. Also recommended someone to fix hardwood flooring.

Dan comes and talks to you and gets the information from you so that he can give you what you want. He takes his time building his cabinets, but they are worth the wait. Fit and finish are are as good as you will get anywhere. If you do find anything that looks wrong to you, he will make it right. He surprised us with end panels to give the end of a row of cabinets a finish instead of just a flat surface. It is a nice touch.
Description of Work: Dan did the cabinet work in our kitchen and master bathroom. His fit and finish are superb. He is currently working on finishing up a cabinet that someone else started and building a custom antique vanity for our upstairs bathroom. And Dan has become a friend. He always returns phone calls, he'll throw in little extras, and he does beautiful work.

Everyone has had the experience of bringing in a contractor to do a job and that's all they end up doing is THE job. If the dimensions you provided say 24and quot; they don't question it and build it at 24.and quot; Dan isn't that type of contractor. Dan brings things to the table. He brings ideas based on years of experience. He's not afraid to ask questions and raise and quot;Have you thought of this...and quot; concerns. When Dan gets down to work, he does it with a frightful combination of efficiency (he cares about your dollar) and craftsmanship. He takes pride in his shop's work (which is earned). We had a few outside setbacks on the job -- caused by us, not by Dan. He went with the flow easily and made adjustments. He kept us in the loop every step of the way. Phone calls, text messages and pictures of the progress. We did custom designs and colors -- Dan figured it all out and did it beautifully. We couldn't be happier with the end product. We had shopped for months to find a bed with a drawer base, but could never find what we wanted. Dan made exactly what we wanted and provided lots of solutions to those and quot;Have you thought of...and quot; questions. Plus he writes up everything contractually. Could not recommend DC Cabinets more.
Description of Work: A custom platform bed with drawers. Bookshelves. Wall-mounted set of drawers in bedroom. Wall-mounted vanity in bathroom.

Overall, my experience with this company was extremely positive.
Description of Work: I asked Dan to give me a bid on some cabinets for a kitchenette in our basement. He arrived exactly at the time he scheduled, was very professional and accommodating, and spent as much time as my questions required without feeling rushed. I was initially given an approximate bid from my contractor as to what we should spend for cabinets so that we could stay within the bid of our entire basement finish. Unfortunately Dan's bid was higher than what was allotted. I do not believe that Dan's bid was high for what he was going to produce. It was just too high for our overall budget. I would definitely use Dan's expertise in the future. In fact, I referred him to my dad who wanted bookshelves custom built. My dad needed them kind of rushed and Dan was able to do that for him. Again, he was professional and my dad loves his bookshelves. They changed the whole appearance of the room.

Hearing so many horror stories about contractors made me hesitant to even begin the process, but our experience with DC Cabinet Company was great overall. Dan and his team were good at doing their work without causing any unnecessary ruckus. The guys were always friendly and courteous. From start to finish they communicated about scheduling and any issues that would arise. I was very happy and have no complaints. Would recommend them to anyone. Very knowledgeable, made things very clear and easy to understand.
Description of Work: I learned about DC Cabinet Company from a friend that had her kitchen remodeled by them earlier in the year. We had him come give us a bid for the kitchen, which included all new cabinets, appliances, tile, paint and much more. After talking to him about the kitchen and what we wanted done there, we learned that he is a general contractor and told him we also wanted a custom garage built. We set a date for the work to begin and they showed up as promised, removing the old kitchen from top to bottom. They installed new tile and painted and less than 3 days later were back to install the the new cabinets, that were absolutely wonderful. We custom built alot of things into the design and it all worked out great. The whole process took less than 2 weeks (for the kitchen). After all was said and done, the kitchen was great, the granite counter tops were awsome, the whole thing turned out great!!! We are very happy. It was easy to plan and coordinate with dan. They came back the following week and started on the garage. We were nervous about building a garage because we didn't want the rest of our yard getting destroyed during the build. Through it all, Dan checked with us before leaving materials and tools anywhere and asked where was ok to work. They came in and did the foundation and built the whole garage suprisingly quick. They just finished the whole thing a couple days ago. Now we have a new 24X24 detached garage with a custom garage door that is fantastic. It wasn't near as much of a nightmare I thought it would be.

Dan was referred by a family friend. He came and bid the job right on the spot. Through out the job, him and his people were very clean and very punctual. The job took 7 more days than anticipated, but Dan had explained prior to the job, that construction rarely ever goes as planned as far as time goes. Things like weather and material issues, can and do arise. He seemed very on top of the job and was great in keeping me informed of the work and the progress. Construction is "so" annoying anyway you look at it. But Dan really did a good job at helping me deal with the stress and was very reasonable in me changing my mind in the middle of it all. The house turned out so good, that my daughter saw the house and is now going to buy it and move in. The next remodel venture I do, I will definitely use Dc cabinets again.
Description of Work: I bought a home in Murray UT as an investment property. It needed a ton of remodeling and updating. The house is 3200 sq ft with only 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and was over run with oak and wood paneling. The house was purchased at a price where I knew I could remodel and sell for a profit. There was a lot of work done so ill just go through the work one item at a time. We began by renovating the kitchen which was awful, old, dark oak. Dan removed the kitchen including the linoleum floor which was roughly 300 sq ft. We replaced the kitchen with a full white finished cabinet style that included frosted glass doors and a barn style kitchen sink. I also replaced all the appliances, which Dan figured into the bid. The alliances were GE stainless steel and gorgeous. The kitchen also had a beautiful finishing touch that Dan had suggested. He suggested that we do beech wood counter tops. I was very skeptical at first, having never seen a full wood counter top anywhere. But the finish product was perfect and a little less expensive than traditional granite. We had him install slated tiles for the floor in a brick pattern, that again finished great! Next we had a wall that was old brick with a fire place in the front room of the home. Dan did a very modern style and original shelf configuration out of curly maple that looks so incredible. He also did glass tiles around the actual fireplace area that were 1 in blue glass tiles. It looks fabulous! He pretty much drew a picture and delivered a shelf system from his imagination. After all we redid the bathrooms on the main level. We left the original tubs and shower tile, but redid the floor tiles and paint. We also surrounded the tub/shower area with glass tiles above the tub finish area. In one bathroom we did a custom vanity made of walnut with a granite tile counter top. The vanity was made custom and fit perfect and amplified the storage space. The look is incredible. In the other bathroom we redid the floor tiles and painted. Then we did a free standing vanity with old style slide drawers and a surface bowl sink on top of a solid wood counter. We also did hanging cabinetry in this bathroom because it is REALLY small. It made great storage space. The bathrooms turned out fantastic. In the up stairs of the home, there was a really large room, which Dan split into two rooms. He built closet organizers for the master bedroom and the closet of the one big room. And after the split of the one, he did a free standing bed with closet space and dresser space combo custom room thing. I don't know how else to describe it. Other than again it works great with the room and makes the room so much better than it would have been. Dan also built three new custom room doors, as well as a new custom front door. The front door was standard size in height but four feet wide, which made the door look extremely awkward. The new front door Dan built, is a double door but opens in 2/3rd's to 1/3rd, like a extended cab door on a truck. The doors are black rustic antiqued. The look is phenomenal! very happy!

We heard about DC Cabinets from a friend that had done a relatively small job, but had indicated that Dan was great to work with and had done fantastic work. We had many bids done by many different contractors in this trade. After careful consideration we decided to go with Dan, even though he wasn't the least expensive. He seemed to pay more attention to what we wanted and not what he was trying to sell. He began on the day we had planed and made great progress that day on the removal of the old kitchen and flooring. He only worked with two other individuals that were extremely polite and careful with the surrounding of the rest of our home. The sub-contractors he used were also a delight to have work on our home. He planned out the installation great, for us not to have to much construction time between the removal of the old kitchen and the install of the new. He worked fast and diligently and was always good on returning phone calls if I had questions. The kitchen was installed beautifully and the finish product was GREAT!!!!! Me and my wife are very happy with the way things went and the time it took.
Description of Work: We had an out dated kitchen that was in desperate need of remodel. DC Cabinets removed all the old cabinets and striped the old floor and walls. They repainted and also did a smooth lacquer finish on walls with the biggest open wall areas. They removed all the old light fixtures and installed new ones and ran new electrical runs for under the cabinet lighting. They helped us find new appliances and removed the old ones. We also had new glass euro style tiles installed on the floor and back splash. We had Dan build walnut custom cabinets for the kitchen and pantry area. The wood had lots of wood detail and trim. We also had new granite counter tops installed as well as a new sink and disposal.

During the entire project, Dan (the owner of DC Cabinet Company) was always on the spot and quick to provide answers to whatever problems may arise, address our concerns, and offer a wide variety of solutions all located at various levels and price points; as well as being very informative about the ins and outs of whatever decision we decided make. Not only can you tell that he is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, but he was there everyday, and it really made us feel good to know that he not only talked about the job with you, but that he was actually there doing it, and not just passing it off to someone who worked for him, which is a great comfort when one is investing in their home. We would definitely call DC Cabinet again and are actually planning on doing so for our bathroom this summer....
Description of Work: We recently purchased a beautiful, but old house built circa 1908, which unfortunately, has been through several, "do it yourself jobs", and we were looking to restore it, and modernize it, while still maintaining the classic old charm, that makes these old houses so attractive. We heard about Dan's company through a friend who knew our situation; after our initial phone call, we had a good feeling, and after meeting him, showing him the kitchen, and talking, we knew immediately that he was the man for the job: and we were right. The kitchen is/was very small, and outdated; all the original cabinets were shot, to say the least, from years of use and covered with endless layers of paint, all the appliances were small and outdated. The floor was covered with a terribly stained and peeling linoleum. So, pretty much, the entire kitchen had to be gutted, and redone; which required all new custom cabinets and drawers that we wanted built with nice space utilizing features, along with resizing and fitting for all new appliances, dishwasher, gas range, and a larger stainless steel refrigerator etc.: also had the linoleum ripped out in order to resurface the original hardwood floors underneath. All this while staying in touch with classic style and charm of the house. Needless to say it was a pretty severe undertaking, and we were a little nervous, but, it turned out absolutely beautiful, and in fact exceeded our expectations....

My husband and I had just done some remodeling in the place in order to fit a washer and dryer in. This left us with some openings and a void where there was once space to put stuff. We started calling around for quotes for custom cabinets and an island, which would serve as storage as well as a and quot;breakfast nookand quot; style table with stools. Not only was Dan one of the quickest to respond, he just seemed honest and truly passionate about woodworking. He had a lot of great ideas for us but was also receptive to our ideas. He came up to Park City twice before starting the job to make sure he knew what we wanted 100%. Well, we got what we wanted, 100%. The cabinets are beautiful and fit perfectly into the space. The island is absolutely gorgeous and the top has a very unique design, custom designed by Dan. It's truly a work of art. Both functional and fashionable! Dan and Jim arrived on time when they said they would. They were very professional and stayed on task. The install went smoothly and they cleaned up after themselves. Absolutely no complaints! The turnaround time was super fast, too. About a week after we signed the agreement. We will be recommending Dan and DC Cabinets Company to all of our friends. Thanks!
Description of Work: A true woodworking artist. DC Cabinets made a custom kitchen island as well as some custom-sized kitchen cabinets for my husband and I in our ski condo in Park City. We needed cabinets in a custom size to fit around our refrigerator. This storage was vital for us to have in our little ski condo. They needed to match the Alder wood and style we used in the rest of the condo. The kitchen island was needed for multiple purposes. We had three drawers at the top, two large drawers, two shelves with a door covering them, and a garbage can slide out (this was the best part... custom made and WAY better than the cheap plastic ones you get from Home Depot). It needed to have a butcher block top with an overhand so that guests can sit at stools and comfortably have enough leg room.
