Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Commercial tree spraying, fertilization, removal, pruning, stump grinding, firewood, planting, pest management & cabling.
We have a beautiful but severely overgrown maple in our front yard. It blocks our view, shades the grass so it won't grow, and is generally out of control. I've had tree services look at it in the past but it is so big they need a bucket truck and no one really wanted to touch it. We noticed a neighbor using Atlas Tree Service so we asked them to take a look. The foreman (Mercedes) was very knowledgable and professional, gave me a bid and offered to be the foreman for our job. Sold! Scheduling was easy and the crew showed up right on time. They were incredibly nice and careful -- I mean, these are tree cutters, right? I didn't expect much more than a "hello" but they were solicitous, concerned, and very, very careful. Cleanup was thorough -- I didn't have to ask them to anything, they just did it. I was super pleased by the job they did and expect to have them back in the future for more work. I give them 5 stars!

The tree removal went very well. It was difficult to schedule due to their busy schedule and their equipment. At first, their dump drunk was not working which delayed the service, then the stump grinder was out of order - they did not complete the stump grinding as scheduled and still have not.

Brooke and Michelle were great on the Angie's interface and also available by phone. The tree cutters were capable and quick. They arrived on job as planned. The cut-up trunk (logs) remained on site for some days--i had to remind them they'd not yet picked up the logs. They had a loader out of commission (down for repair), but came in time as to not delay other aspects of a project. In short, their price was competitive and quality of work was high.

Estimator showed up on time and provided some advice. Crew showed up on time and removed tree and hedge. What I brings the "A" rating is the cleanup. It was getting late in the day on a Friday and you might expect a "rush job" on the wrap up; and there was a LOT of mess to clean up. The guys did a great job leaving the property cleaned up.

Atlas Tree service did an excellent job with my trees, BUT their office staff was so terrible that I cannot recommend them. If their arborists ever leave Atlas, I hope they contact me because I would be so happy to recommend and hire them over and over. As other reviewers have commented the office staff provides terrible service. I had my initial estimate on July 24 (the arborist came out on a holiday! he spent a ton of time with me, gave me a lot of free and helpful advice, was on-time, professional in every way). Then, the office staff got involved, and there was no-show after no-show after no-show to get the work done. The office staff never called me with any of the no-shows, so I would call them to re-schedule and the demeanor was aggressive, defensive, unprofessional. Finally the work was done on Sept 3rd. The office staff called to confirm the appointment the day before, and told me 'there won't be an extra charge for re-scheduling" - Seriously? after all the no-shows they were actually going to CHARGE ME EXTRA? When they arrived, the crew was great - friendly, professional, they cleaned up more than I would have expected, even, and they did a superb job with the trees. The next day, Sept 4, I got a phone call from the office staff asking for payment - reasonable - and so I asked for an invoice, I wasn't just going to give my credit card number over the phone and let them charge anything at all. Over the next 4 hours, they then sent me 5 haranguing emails demanding payment, saying that payment had been due on July 30. But they didn't even do the work until Sept 3. Ridiculous. They apparently have a new operations manager and he was very helpful on the phone. If he can get their office staff situation sorted out, Atlas Trees would be my go-to arborist.

Great! Came two days after giving an estimate. 3 fellows led by Mercedes. Showed up on time. Brought the two trees down in a tricky yard without hitting any of our many new Japanese maples. Cleaned up promptly. Would recommend these guys to everyone. Also, I am going to have Mike come out this fall to teach me how to trim Japanese maples. Thanks guys!

They did everything they promised and more. We changed our minds about taking down entire old tree and instead just took off a very large limb that was overhanging the roof. They were very flexable and reduced the price. Then we offered to pay the entire agreed to price if they would take out another smaller tree on the driveway. They did, and we were very grateful. Two years ago, they took out a tree that was behind our house and on a steep hill. They allowed us to save some money by agreeing to haul up the cuttings. This last fall was our second experience with Atlas, and both times they came on time, asked a fair price, and did all they had promised and more. Truly one of the best companies we have ever worked with. We wish all vendors were as reliable.

UPDATE: 10/6/14. So the bill has been canceled and apologies extended from company regarding mistake in billing. Thank you. UPDATE 9/30/14: Now I'm being billed for work that was not done. I was supposed to have pine trees sprayed as noted below. The guy finally showed up to put iron in for maple & oak. I was able to catch him and so he did not do that since he was supposed to be there to spray pine trees. I just got a bill for the maple/oak work that was not done. Will be calling and talking to them AGAIN today. UPDATE 7/20/14: Well, never heard from them again.... Going with different company recommended by neighbor. Too bad, they did good work when the work was done, but office staff does not respond or keep track of anything apparently. Pros: Work that was done was done very well. We were concerned lest our trees get 'butchered' but they did a great job on them. We really value our trees and they provide awesome shade to our house; after the pruning they still look great; our neighbor noticed they appeared 'cleaned up.' The crew picked up everything, nothing left to clean up. Excellent work. I would recommend them. Cons: Office staff, period. The office staff apparently does not communicate well with crews. They just showed up and luckily we were home both times (we do have dogs in yard). The crews were under impression that office staff had called. We also arranged for a crew to return to treat some pine trees early this spring. They said they'd call us. We wound up calling them. Took month and when I got someone, I was told there had been a change of office staff (probably a good thing I thought); they said they'd call us back when weather was better. I had to call again. I specifically told person on phone that this service was for PINE trees and where they were located; I actually corrected her 2x regarding what kind of service. But, when the worker showed up, he had been told it was to treat our other trees with iron--which had already been done. He called and presumably reached the person I had talked to on the phone and she did not seem to realize what the problem was. I will try them perhaps one more time; as noted, when work was done, it was done well and I assume it is not the fault of the guys/gals that do the work that their office staff are getting things incorrect and at times not communicating well. HENCE: they would have gotten an A+ if this grade was based solely on work that was done.
Description of Work: Pruned 2 very large trees on our property; later infused iron into soil for them.

Once the effort started, it went very well. Atlas took care of the power company work to trim away from power lines before they were allowed to remove the trees, and provided the needed copy of their certificate of liability insurance since they were using a crane to lift parts of the tree over our house and the trees were very close to neighbor houses. Atlas' schedule had to be put out a little due to thier own logistics issues and the power company criteria. Atlas did a very good job of cleaning up afterwards as well.

The Arborist that came for the estimate was great. Getting them to show up for the work took several reschedules ( on their part, not mine). When they came to do the job, the work was good. I then tried to schedule a Spring Spray for the cherry trees. Once again, they have had many scheduling issues. Twice they didn't show and didn't even bother to tell me they wouldn't be coming. I asked for a manager to contact me, and no calls after 2 weeks. It is a shame they have such a mess for a call and dispatch center. Because of this, I cannot recommend them to anyone.

Everything was great! Mike showed up and recommended what needed to be done for the fall. He doesn't over or under sell. He tells you what he would do to care for the trees. I have never compared with other providers because he is very knowledgeable and a great, honest guy. Once they came to provide the service, the trees looked great! The cleanup was better than before! I think they pick up some leaves that might have fallen off and aren't afraid to take extra!

The arborist came to my house to provide an estimate. He provided very detailed information on the options available and answered additional questions that I had after receiving several other bids. The tree needed extensive pruning and has a damaged section that was a concern. We decided on weight reduction (pruning the tree in several areas) and adding a cable to the injured section of the tree so that if the branch failed, it would not damage our garage or fall to the ground. The crew arrived on time and did a great job of prepping the space, ensuring that nothing in our back yard was damaged by falling branches, working quickly, addressing my questions throughout the day, and cleaning up thoroughly upon completion. This was neither the least nor the most expensive bid, however, having a certified arborist who clearly had worked with walnut trees before was very important. I felt that the price was fair for the work completed.

We called Atlas trees last week to give us a second estimate. They said they would come between 8 and 9 on Monday and they arrived at 8:15. They quoted us for the two large trees and then offered to cut down a 3rd tree for the price of the 2 trees. They then had informed us that due to a cancelation they could perform the work on Wed. On Wednesday they arrived on time and the three men cut down the trees and cleaned up after themselves. My wife and I thought that they did an amazing job, provided a great value, and we will definitely use Atlas trees in the future.

Great service and estimate at no cost. They could easily have told me that the trees needed spraying and charged me for it, but they didn't. As for the amur maples, he suggested some things to try, and other than those, and suggested that I dig down to the root ball to see if there was an issue there. I never did follow that last bit of advice, and one tree did die. I would hire these guys back in a heartbeat... they passed my trustworthy test. We will probably use them for serious tree pruning in the near future.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate and help on two tree problems. Atlas Tree sent an expert to the house to look at the aphid problem we had going on with our emerald queen maple, as well as some amur maples that are dying. He let me know that it wouldn't help too much to spray for the aphids, as all the other trees in the neighborhood have them as well (a bad year for aphids) and that they shouldn't be doing permanent damage, by the looks of it. He also suggested certain fertilizers for the amur maples that were yellowing out and look like they are dying. He offered to do the fertilization, but said it was easy for me to do myself.

Johnny Atkin first came to our home, and prepared a bid. He was courteous, friendly and professional. The four man crew he sent out was on time. They did a great job. They knew what they were doing, were careful as they trimmed and cut branches. Daniel and Mike responded to our specific trimming requests as they worked, and were very cooperative. The trees look good. The crew did a nice job cleaning up the yard afterwards. Eric came out the following week to do the stump grinding, and did a good job.

Overall it was a good experience. My only criticism is that did not seem to be able to coordinate scheduling between their crew and the office. This happened several times for the tree pruning and again in Sept. They were going to call us to schedule the Sept. appt. but instead a guy just showed up one morning without notice and started getting ready to work before he rang the doorbell. This would not really have been a problem except that we have dogs and need to coordinate keeping them inside. It worked out fine, however, since we happened to be home when he showed up. The men and women whom we came in contact were nice, friendly and they thoroughly cleaned up the entire yard and street when they came to prune--very nice. We will use them again but may be wary of scheduling coordination in their office.
Description of Work: We have used Atlas 2 times, the first was to prune 2 large, old, trees in our yard. They did a good job on the trees, did not butcher them, cleaned them up nicely. They came back in Sept. to give the same trees some iron.

I almost want to say that this has been a scheduling nightmare. I have been working with them for the last 6 days trying to get this job done. After I received the initial quote I had another arborist come out to my house and give me a quote. His pricing was similar, but he didn't give me a written quote before he left and he had forgotten our initial appointment, so I ended up going with Atlas. I called Mike, to let him know I wanted to have the work done and he told me that Candie would call me to get me scheduled in a couple of weeks. Well, Candie called me and left me a message telling me when my appointment was, without even talking to me first. I felt this was very presumptive of her and not entirely professional. I would have much preferred that she call me first to talk to me before scheduling me for a time when I may not even be home. They came out on Monday (9/23/2013) and did a FANTASTIC job clearing the deadwood off of my Tree of Heaven. It looks like a whole new tree! I am very pleased with the work that they did. The only problem is that they left on Monday (after I had gone to work) before they finished the job. They were supposed to cut down all of the saplings on the side of my house, and all of the saplings in the backyard. Apparently, that was not put on the work order, and so they didn't do it. Even though I told one of the workers that that was what I had been quoted for and that was what I wanted done. I had this discussion with them before I went to work. I had to call them while I was at work on Monday night because my husband had come home to find that they had left without cutting down the saplings. Candie admitted to me that she forgot to put that on their work order and she apologized. She said she would send someone out on Tuesday (9/24/13) to finish the job. A fellow showed up on Tuesday and when he found out just how many saplings there were, he sorrowfully informed me that he didn't have a big enough truck to haul all of them back. Apparently, his regular truck had been broken for a week and a half and he was stuck using "the fertilizer guy's" truck. So he collected the rope that the workers had left the day before and said that he would tell Candie that he wasn't able to do it. Wednesday came about and I received no phone calls, but I did receive a bill in the mail for the entire amount, due the next day. (Ironically enough, the itemized bill was correct and included cutting down the saplings). I called the office and left a message telling them that the work still wasn't done and I would not be paying them until it was. I got a phone call on Thursday, from Candie, telling me she didn't know that Eric hadn't finished the job and she would get someone out today, tomorrow, or Saturday. I told her when I would be home those days. No one showed up on Thursday, or Friday, so I called on Friday evening and Candie told me that she would have someone out around 11am today (9/28/2013). She also told me she would have him call me when he was on his way over. I was woken up this morning at 10:30am (don't judge, I have a busy life and don't get to sleep much during the week ^ ^;) to the sound of a chainsaw being operated right outside my bedroom window. I went outside in my PJs and found someone from Atlas cutting down the saplings on the side of my house. I asked him if he had knocked on the front door and he said he hadn't. I had asked because I wanted to make sure that he hadn't been waiting outside for a while before beginning the work. It would have been rude of me to keep him waiting. He cut down the saplings on the side of the house and the back yard as requested and the yard looks SO much better! He was also very nice and he gave me some advice about a failing Aspen that I have in my front yard. I am glad the work is finally done, and I am happy with the results, but this has truly been an absolute nightmare. If Atlas reads this, I would like to make a few suggestions. 1.) double-check the quote, versus what you have written on the work order. 2.) Don't schedule people without talking to them first. 3.) Make sure your employees are calling the next customer while they are in route (or before, considering the laws in UT about driving while on a cell phone) to let them know when they will be there. 4.) Make sure that the person you are sending out to a job site has the proper sized truck for the job. 5.) COMMUNICATE with your employees and your customers. Tell them when your employees will be at their house, and don't give them a 3 day window so that they feel like they can't go and do ANYTHING because if they do they might miss the appointment. -_-
Description of Work: Trimmed the deadwood off of my Ailanthus altissima (aka Tree of Heaven/Stinking Shumac/Highway Trash), trimmed it away from my power line, and cut down all of its saplings and suckers.
