This was a technical removal. The tree was on my property but leaned towards a neighbor's house and was up against a brick wall. Best access to remove was on the neighbor's property. It took about 6+ hours and everything went smoothly. Bucket truck and a crew of 4 were here. Removed tree in sections, safely, and with no damage to either property. Chipped as much as possible, cut up the larger main trunk. Cut the stump nice and close to the ground. Not possible to grind it. Overall very pleased with the results and so was my neighbor (since access and all work was done from their property side). It's a messy job and both properties were left in very clean condition. Would hire again.

They are taking care of several of my large old trees. Their Arborist, Mitch, is quite knowledgable. My only concern was with the billing. I had the work done on 7/31. Within 8 days, I have gotten 3 phone calls and 2 emails demanding payment and saying the bill is overdue. I pay my bills within the month, but as I travel a lot, I don't always get them done in the first few days after service. I think that getting contacted so many times within the week of service is a bit tacky!

The crews were very professional, very efficient and did a great job cleaning up when they completed the job, I was very happy with the quick response time. I have had other tree companies out to my property in the past to try and save some money, only to have to spend more to repair the damage they caused. Atlas tree service did the job right the first time. You get what you pay for!

The process went very well. Mitch, the arborist, came out to the house to meet me twice before the work was done and once after the work was completed. Patrick, the contractor, came out both days to check on how it was going. The workers were efficient and competent, even when they uncovered a row of large rocks that would impact the stump grinding. McKell in the office was attentive to my needs and stayed in communication with me before and during the work days. I was on a tight schedule--work had to be done in two days--and they were able to do that, in spite of one of their trucks having an emergency out-of-service experience. They did the cutting on one day and the stump grinding on another day. The workers cleaned up the yard very nicely when finished. Everyone involved showed up at the time he/they were scheduled to be at the house. I was very pleased with the company and would recommend them again. They also gave me my 10% senior discount.

I hired Atlas trees because of the reviews on Angie's list. I should have look at the bad reviews too. Mike Lopez came and gave me a bid and reassured me that they would not cut all the low limbs and branches that gave me so much shade like I had seen done before. When I came home I was horrified to see that all that was left was some of the crown of the trees. All my shade was gone. They did show me several limbs that had bores and scale disease and explained that they only took off what was dead, diseased, or dying. They said Mike would call me tomorrow and talk to me about my options for treatment. When he didn't call I tried emailing him several times and still never received a response. I sent a letter with my check only paying half the bill and asked that they please have Mike contact me. I also emailed the woman who sent me the bill. She said she would forward on my email to Mike and have him contact me. He still never contacted me. Then she made an appointment for Mike to come out to my house and look at the trees again so I could discuss this with him in person. They called 2 hours before the appointment and said he had to reschedule. On the day of the second appointment he never showed. I will go elsewhere to get help with the bore and scale problem with my trees. I hope others will take the time to read the negative reviews because this is what the company really is like.

The estimator did a great job and was very punctual, and offered me a fair price to remove the branch that came down from their crown job (a year prior). However, the run around trying to get it scheduled was impossible. Multiple calls from me to them, and could not ever get an answer on a date. Two weeks after the estimation, and I've called to cancel the quote. I'm half expecting them to show up and do the work and bill me anyway, that's how unorganized this place seems to be.

Overall Atlas did a good job. My wife and I are very pleased with how the trees look. The people were very nice and professional and they went beyond what I thought they would. The only problem was that Atlas stated that they would start at Noon on the 2nd. Noon came and went so I called the company they said that they were running late and would be there by 1:00 PM. They finally arrived at 2:45 PM. Some sort of call or communication would be nice if they are not going to make it at a certain time. I had to leave but luckily my wife was home at the time and we were able to get the work done. Other than this little glitch we are very pleased and intend to use them again in the future.

I would strongly recommend not working with this vendor. They are unprofessional in many ways (more than I will be able to state here) and proceeded with a job that I had not approved. If it wasn't for the fact that I had been home sick to stop them, they would have cut down a tree in my backyard, which I had got an estimate on, but not approved the job for. When originally getting an estimate for their service, the company indicated they wanted to use my neighbors driveway to cut down the tree (better access). My neighbor had not approved this because the company?s trucks were so big that they crack the cement of the driveway. I had indicated to the company that I did not want to move forward with the project because I did not have the cooperation of my neighbors. A week later I was awakened by chainsaws cutting down the tree in my backyard. I was home sick with the flu and it was lucky I was because I could stop them. I indicated that I had not approved the project. Those that had come out indicated they had a work order to cut the tree down and that they also had permission you use my neighbors driveway. Now I'm in a position to mend the relationship with my neighbor, as they had interrupted them and ask to use their driveway before starting to cut the tree down. When talking with the management, they were less than understanding. I mentioned that I do not approve the job and that their people were out cutting the tree down. The management offered nothing in the way of compensation. Thus, a few things that were quite unprofessional about this company where that I was never noted that there was anybody coming out to perform the job, people just showed up. Moreover the work order was completely wrong. The way the management handled the mistake was completely unprofessional. Once again, the lack of communication with this vendor is horrible and I would strongly recommend not working with this company or you might end up paying for something that you do not want, which is what I almost did, had I not been homesick the random day they showed up to cut the tree down.

Atlas removed my giant tree & it went smoothly. In contrast, the stump grind & removal of above-ground roots was a disaster. They didn't show to the 1st appointment. I called them an hour late & they told me someone had broken a foot so they would have to reschedule. I had taken a half day off work & taken my dog to day care. On date of removal (another day off & doggie daycare) they sent a guy who normally works in the office (he told me). I was surprised they only sent 1 person but he told me that many people were at a tree competition that day. I asked the guy if he had spoken to Mike Lopez (my salesman) about the special way he was to poison my stump (to protect my dog) & he said no so he called Mike at the tree competition for instruction (I'm glad I was there). The job was supposed to take 3 hours & more than 8 hours later he had run out of gas for the grinder, said he needed to leave (this was a Friday) & apologized for the mess saying he could return Monday to finish the job & haul away the mess. There was a pile of tree material 4 feet tall & 7 around & tree material over much of my yard. The plan I had with Mike Lopez was for them to leave some material just above the stump to cover the poison) & then I would tarp that to protect my dog. First, I gave him my mower gas to finish grinding the last few roots. Unfortunately, I could not wait until Monday to remove the mess (my dog would just spread it all over my yard) & I needed to use my yard that weekend. My husband & spent hours filling up 21 large lawn & leaf bags (my bags) & our big garbage can. We put those in our front yard & he agreed to pick those up Monday, which he did. After he left I noticed his truck had leaked oil on my driveway. I contacted Mike Lopez, via email explaining all of the service issues, my labor to remove the plant material & my cost for the gas & trash bags & requested that he consider at least a partial refund - whatever he felt was fair. He never replied. I left him a voice mail 4 days later asking him to call me to discuss or refer me to someone in the office who could look at my request. He never called. I was not that upset until Mike ignored me. I understand things happen in business & figured Atlas would make it right. I tried to make the best of a bad situation & I was patient but when Mike decided not to treat me with respect & at least call me. That made me more upset than the terrible service I received. Terrible customer service & not responsive to their customer. I suggest you don't use this service provider.

Angie's List had Atlas Trees contracted Aug 2014, which they trimmed tree November 2014. My father-in-law was raised on a farm and in later years had a large orchard and veritable arboretum of trees on his property. He said, year after year, "the sap is running, time to trim the trees." And this applied to all the Rocky Mountain type trees. August, September, October and finally November came before the tree was trimmed. The sap had been running since September. Globe willows are the first to sprout leaves and the last to lose them. Short, narrow leaves, thousands of them. I grew more anxious because I wanted those limbs off before they broke AND before they dropped those leaves. They don't rot and fertilize your lawn under the snow -- they're too sleek to get mulched by the lawn mower -- they rot and mold and kill the lawn. And it was a brand new lawn that had taken me months to grow and weed. I have been through 4 to-the-ground cuts of this globe willow, and while we never killed the stump, I'm still surprised when it grows back with a couple of extra trunks each time. We have had it over 20 years, but willow is a soft wood and if bugs get in it, they can hollow it out before you realize it (as in wasps!) I know this tree. We only need to trim it every 3 years. It looks like asparagus stalks but in the Spring, the top gently folds down into an umbrella shape. Beautiful. Atlas told me August was too early. He kept telling me he would contact me. But I always had to contact him. The first surprise was: "I will have to send over a certified arborist to take a look at it. It is a free appt and you are not required to be there." Oh. I or a neighbor was there all day. No one showed up. But Mike Lopez came, because Atlas Trees said he did. Second surprise: Atlas said "Mike Lopez (the "Certified Arborist") will just be given a cost for his recommendations. If you are not there we will just email you the estimate." Hmmmm. Free AND cost. How does that work? Third surprise: Johnny Atkins, owner, is an "Arborist" . Certified, according to his page. You will never learn the names of the others. Mike Lopez is not listed in Angie's index. --------- http://www.isa-arbor.com/home.aspx http://www.isa-arbor.com/findanarborist/findanarborist.aspx FIND AN ARBORIST The arborists listed below have passed ISA's credential testing to confirm knowledge of proper and acceptable tree care practices. Name search 'Mike Lopez' returned 0 records No results. ----------- There is a Mike Lopez ISA in California. ----------- Third surprise: CREDENTIAL VERIFICATION Name search 'Johnny Atkins' returned 0 records No results. ---------- Oh oh. Atlas Trees is owned by Johnny Atkins, who claims? To be a an ISA Certified Arborist on his page. What gives here? On Atlas Trees page they say THEY are ISAs. Mike Lopez is mentioned in one review. No other names are listed. At all. So it makes it difficult to check their ISA credentials. I did find Johnny Atkins listed as owner in a local rag, so I ran his name through. Oops. Not there. What gives? The "Site Map" at the bottom is just 2 words. It's not a link to a site map. -------- I was beginning to realize Atlas didn't know Globe Willows. Short story long, they left too many branches, the very ones I wanted cut back! They were endangering the roof of my home and the kids walking to school on the sidewalk. When I told them to cut those branches, they refused, saying "It's not on the work order" which they waved about but wouldn't show me. I said "I ordered the work and please cut the limbs." They refused. I requested a copy of Mike Lopez's cost estimate, and they refused to give me that. The leaves from the un-cut branches coated the lawn. I am still raking them this April, 2015. They took the cut branches despite my request to keep them. They treated me like I was ignorant and invisible -- not yelling or shouting, but simply by ignoring me. It ended up costing $50 more than Angie's "Deal" and guess what? It needs to be trimmed again already. It doesn't look anything like a globe. They left the rotten feet from trunks they did cut. And there has not been one day that about 25-50 large and small dead branches have fallen off. I will consider the job done when they come by every day and rake up the leaves and pick up the twigs. And remove those rotted dead feet to make sure there aren't bugs there. I 've already paid, but know they took advantage of this elderly widow, have no doubt.

They were able to just go ahead and come in, knocked them down, and pulled the stumps out all at one time. They ground the stumps out. So, they were really professional with that. One of them was right next to our house and they were really great with that. It was done in a day, actually in a few hours. They got it all done and were out of there. This was the first time we used them. We got a pretty decent rate. They really just wanted to keep busy.
