I had been told by another fireplace repair person that I needed to replace the fire surround tiles for my small wood-burning fireplace due to a hairline crack in one of the tiles. I called John Perry at AAA London Chimney Sweep to get a quote for the work. He gave me a quote, as I'd asked, but was also extremely honest with me and said that it almost certainly didn't need to be replaced - I had basically had a close call with the other repairman almost ripping me off! He gave me this advice completely free, when he could just as easily have pushed for the job without telling me it was unnecessary. I was incredibly impressed by his honesty and knowledge; even though I ended up not needing him to do the job this time, ANY further issues with my fireplace, I will be calling John at AAA London Chimney Sweep!

John arrived a few minutes early and set up to clean our wood-burning fireplace and chimney. We were not sure how he was going to do this since we have a very steep pitched roof and a two story house, but he cleaned it all from the inside and did not have to climb onto the roof. He prepared very thoroughly by laying down some thick blankets over our floor and setting up a huge powerful vacuum unit. He was quick, efficient and worked very VERY cleanly. There was absolutely no soot or dust escaping into our family room. A couple years ago we had a very bad experience with a chimney sweep and were very afraid to hire someone again (soot and dust pouring into the house, kid looked like he wasn't old enough to have a driver license, clearly didn't know what he was doing, snuck off at the end of the job.) John of London Chimney Sweep was extremely professional and courteous. We will hire him every year. Thanks for the input from all you Angie's List members...we found your reviews to be accurate and comforting so we were willing to give another sweep a try!

John returned our initial call for a quote same day. He scheduled his service within the week, and was 10 minutes early for our appointment. He performed the service thoroughly, made two minor repairs at no charge, and cleaned the chimneys with absolutely no residue, dirt, or mess in the home. When we asked questions about improvements to our existing system, he spent awhile talking with us about various options, and educating us on those options. He performed a follow up service of installing chimney caps a few days later. This was also done promptly, cleanly, and at a reasonable cost. He has been in business awhile, and knows what he's doing... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services or use him again. Nice guy.

During my initial phone call with AAA London, I described the problem (carbon monoxide release from gas fireplace). Mr Perry gave me a quote for chimney cleaning, and his assessment of what might be causing the problem. He then set a time for a service call. Mr Perry arrived promptly, and found the fault immediately. He was able to fix it with a simple adjustment and a very inexpensive part. He also cleaned the chimney, and this was done quickly and with no mess at all - no soot and no dust. Before leaving, he tested the fireplace to be sure that there were no carbon monoxide emissions. The gas fire is working very efficiently, and I was impressed that he could get to the job with very little delay. I had expected to wait much longer for a service call. AAA London is a business I would certainly call again for fireplace and chimney repairs.

He started by removing our existing chimney cap from the top of our chimney in a way that it could not be replaced... and charged us an extra $10 to do so! He never told us that he would not replace the grate after he removed it. As a result we paid $10 to have him de-value our chimney and open it up to racoons, leaves and anything else that may want to climb in. Later that night, I found the pieces of the grate strewn across our front lawn when I accidently stepped on one of them. In addition, when he arrived we had a chimney pillow installed (just above the fireplace) to keep out the draft. Because we do not have a metal damper or insert, this pillow was the only thing preventing our chimney from being simply a gaping hole to the outside. We asked him to put the pillow back in place when he finished... he refused. So, while his high power vaccum did keep soot off all of our furniture while he was cleaning... our room (as well as my clothes and my face) did get dirty after all, because I had to climb into the fireplace myself and reinstall the pillow in the chimney. He offered to install a damper for an additional $395.

He was friendly and courteous. He arrived a few minutes late but completed the job sooner than he had estimated. He did a great job protecting my furniture and there was little, if any, dust when the work was completed.

He was prompt and professional. Considering the nature of this task this guy was extremely clean. He worked quickly but thoroughly and completed four jobs in about 5 hours.

Chimney sweep was on time and dressed as a ''chimney sweep''. He laid out all his stuff (floor covers, vacumn and brush), ran his big vacumn, sat on the fireplace and watched TV. He was there about 30 minutes but could have been done in 10 if the TV has been turned off. He was very pricey. Wanted $200 for 3 caps - which we later found at Lowe's for $25.00 each.
