White Knight Plumbing

I noticed a leak in our finished basement ceiling late Wednesday evening. I called James that night and left him a message. He called back in the morning, and I was fortunate enough that somebody else cancelled his appointment with him. He came by 60 minutes later. We had the whole thing fixed up another hour later. James was very professional, doesn't overcharge, and does great work! I will definitely hire him again.

I called James after finding him on Angie's List. I live in Layton and he drove all the way from SLC. He arrived on time, assessed my entire gas load and gave me a quote. He didn't just say "sure, I'll put in a gas line". He totaled it all up and told me that I would be "underwater" if I put in a new gas stove (existing electric). I had an aging 75 gallon water heater that was putting me under and we discussed the replacement. I told him we would think it all over and asked him how much for the service call that day. He said it was a free estimate. I called him back later that day and booked the job. Of all the places I have lived, (I'm 56) James Walton is the best, most professional plumber I have ever dealt with! ON time, ON quote, ON schedule. No b.s., no constant trips anywhere. He showed up with everything he needed and did the job. My wife and I could not be more pleased.

My water heater pilot light wouldn't stay on. It would light and then shut off. Since my water heater is only three years old, I was worried about having to replace it already. James came just an hour after I called him and he knew immediately what the problem was. He fixed it and told me all that I need to do to prevent a reoccurrence of the problem. He vacummed the water heater closet and thoroughly checked everything after the repair was completed. He was knowledgeable about water heaters and explained everything to me in detail. I will definitely use his services again.

I can not say enough about James. He was ALWAYS on time if not early. That is huge for me. Completed the work in a timely fashion and I could not be more pleased.

James did a great job and was very informative so I can better stay on top of things. We bought our home a couple of years ago with a tankless water heater so he helped educate us on how it needs to be maintained. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I plan to use him for future projects we have.

James returned all my calls promptly-this was why I hired him. Then he was on time and very professional. He did all that I had asked him to do, and then when I asked if he could look at the leak in the shower he was very willing and spent a long time to get it to work correctly. He gave me advise on what I may want to do to have the manufacture send us better parts- and listed those parts that work poorly due to design, so I would know what to ask for. For as long as he spent on the shower leak, I feel he was very fair on his pricing. I am happy with his work and will definately call him when I need a plumber.

James responded to my call quickly, which was important since we had an active leak in the bathroom that I needed to get fixed ASAP. He arrived within the window that he said he would. James was courteous and efficient. Fixing the overflow from our bathtub ended up being a tough job, since there was some ancient caulking around the connector that was difficult to remove (probably many decades old), and the pipes were difficult to access. James was careful not to damage any of the existing connectors, and was able to fix the leak. His fee was very fair, and he also added an Angie's list discount. I would definitely work with him again.

Had a plugged toilet and he fixed that within 10 min. He could have charged me and left but said, "Is there anything else I can do because this is your hour." He then checked out my kitchen faucet that wasn't spraying and also fixed my bathtub faucets where the HOT and COLD were backwards. He gave me the Angie's List and military discount too which was super nice. Would definitely use White Knight Plumbing again!

He was awesome. He came out after hours when I thought he was going to have to get like the new furnace and everything and he just cleaned some stuff out and fixed it. He was super honest. I would absolutely use him again.

He did a good job, but he didn't show up for the original appointment time. He called that night and said he'd forgotten to call me, that he had an emergency, and could he please come another time. He came the next day. I wish he'd called to let me know he wasn't coming, because I waited around a few hours.

In 2002 I purchased a home that had a radiant in-floor heating system which was run by a boiler. The system design was completily flawed from when the orginal plumber installed it. These systems were supposed to be more efficient, but my system was costing me double the cost in my monthly gas bill. I was consently having problems with it running properly. I called several plumbers half didn't know anything about boiler systems. The final discussion was to pull the whole system out and replace it with a new design. I had one plumber come up and tell me "This is a mess, I don't want anything to do with it sorry." I found the original installer thinking he would know the best way to fix it. He came up and he did know a great deal about the system, he admitted that the design was flawed but blamed it on the builder. Anyway he gave me a written bid to rip out the old boiler and replace with a new one. $25,000 dollars! W**? I became extremely worried, my current system was failing, and every time I called a plumber just to look at system it cost me $100, and the only guy I could find who would take the job wanted $25,000. I finally joined Angies List, desperatly trying to find someone to help. I saw the reviews of White Knight Plumbing and decided to give him a call. He made arraignments to come up and look at the system. I live an hour from SLC, so i was worried he wouldn't show up. I was wrong he showed up exactly when he said he would. He looked at it and gave me some options on how to fix it. I asked him to give me a bid on a new system and asked if he was willing to take on the job. James said he would and he would give me a written bid. I asked him how much I owed him for the service call, he said no charge. I thought he just felt sorry for me, and I would never hear from him again. A day later he gave me a bid to tear out the old system and replace the entire thing, the bid was for $9900. That was less then half of what the other guy wanted!! We made the agreement. I was convinced that he would come up and find "new problems" and the cost of the job would go up by the time it was done. Within two weeks of the bid, James came up over a weekend, got a hotel room and went to work. He showed up earliy and left late, worked his butt off. He was organized, knowlegable and very professional. Now I have a system that is completed revamped and working beautifully. The area where my boiler was located is cleaner when he left then it was when he got here. I couldn't be happier with the new system and the work of White Knight Plumbing. He was awesome and I would diffently recommed him to anyone.

Our water heater went out on a Sunday and we called White Knight Plumbing because they had 24 hour emergency service. Not only did he come out right away and fix it on a Sunday morning, he also saw that our new washer and dryer were not hooked up and quickly hooked those up as well. He was very polite and efficient.

The hose bib on the back of the house was leaking and spraying like crazy, and had been all year. They came the same day I contacted them, also called to let me know when he was on his way. He did the work quickly and correctly, and he charged about half of what another plumbing company quoted me. He even fixed my front hose bib that was dripping, so I wouldn't need another service call in 6 months. I would recommend this company to anyone I know who needs work done. I am more than satisfied with the service that was received, and can't imagine every using a different plumbing company in the future.

Found water under sink about 6pm on Wednesday. By the time we had emptied under sink, dried up water and items, it was well after 7pm. Called White Knight and got answering machine. Left message describing problem, 'leaking .5 HP disposal' and asked for call the next day. Thursday morning received call back. Appointment was set up for between 2 to 4 pm that day. Plumber showed up at about 1:45pm with new disposal. Removed old, installed new and was gone within an hour.

Left voicemail. Never returned call.

Much of what was done is what you would expect from a professional that includes a detailed bid , arriving on time and having the tools, equipment and supplies to do the job. Where Ted went way beyond what was required was when he encountered some major problems and did all the extra work required to solve the problems. Working in a crawl space under our home compounded the problem but didn't stop him from doing an excellent job. When he made out the bill and it turned out to be a little less than he had bid despite the extra work that was a bonus.

Our old 40 gallon water heater was not large enough for our family so we called White Knight plumbing for a quote. We were not in a hurry to get the work done as the old water heater still worked we just wanted a larger capacity water heater. James came out and gave us the quote within a day or so and we had the work completed about a week and a half later. We are very satisfied with this contractor.

He was was $1000 cheaper then the other estimates. Put in the softener and heater about five days later. James also did a lot of other things free of charge like test our water hardness and relieve the pressure in the leaking water heater so we wouldn't have to worry about it bursting and flooding the basement. Then on the day of installment we arrived to find him trying to find the shut off valve for the secondary water that had just been turned the day before and was flooding into our yard. James will definitely go above and beyond for you.

I called and left a voice mail late Sunday night after I discovered I had some water on my basement floor. I couldn't find the source of the leak but I assumed it was my water heater, since the water was in that general area. James called me first thing Monday morning and offered to come by right away. He carefully examined the water heater and couldn't find any problems, then looked into other things that might have caused the water on the floor. He noticed that my water softener tank was full nearly to the top. The softener is a Kenmore, however, and to service a Kenmore you are apparently required to go with Sears or Sears affiliates. I was disappointed about that, since James was clearly competent and honest, and I would have had him do the work for sure. He gave me some helpful suggestions and advice and went on his way. I offered to pay him for the visit, but he refused, indicating he hadn't done any work. I will keep White Knight Plumbing on my list of favorites in the event I need a plumber in the future. He was honest and more than fair and I highly recommend White Knight. Even though James didn't do any work for me, he certainly could have tried to sell me services I didn't need. Instead he told me my water heater was fine, and didn't even charge me for the house call. That speaks volumes for me! His prompt response and pleasant attitude were icing on the cake.

He arrived on time. Worked hard and finished all that he could on Christmas Eve. He needed a part and spent over an hour trying to find it before Christmas. He could not find it but called bright and early the day after Christmas and showed up in just a few minutes to finish his work. He cleaned up well and I couldn't even see a sign that he had been there; except for the nicely installed new sink top and the non-dripping faucets. He was very pleasant and gave lots of very helpful advise on how to keep my drains clear and running well. I would call and will call him back whenever I need a Plumber again.

James provided an honest, upfront quote without taking any advantage of the situation. Excellent work and highly recommended.

I'm the Alumni Board President for a fraternity at the University of Utah. As such I am responsible for the maintenanc of the house. I was notified of a water leak on a Friday afternoon. I checked Angie's List and found White Knight Plumbing and called James Walton (owner) and asked if he could check out the leak. He said he was up north but would go by on his way home and check out the leak. He later called me and said the water main was broken. I had already called Salt Lake Public Works to have them turn off the water. James told me the water was still on. He said he would turn off the water main to stop the leak. I asked James if he could fix the leak and he advised me he couldn't repair a water main. I asked who he recommended and he gave me the name of another company he has had dealings with and he tructed. James was very professional and I would use him again if needed.

I had a very positive experience with this company. I had a service call for a broken water heater from another company, which accurately diagnosed the problem, but quoted me over 50% more to replace my water heater. The business owner (and only employee?) was actually a few minutes early for the appointment and he removed my old water heater and installed the replacement on his own in an efficient and professional manner. At the end of the appointment I asked if he would be willing to fix both of my toilets, which both needed replacement parts and although it was getting late, he repaired them both quickly, with me being lucky that he had the parts in his truck. He gladly honored the Angie's List discount coupon. I would definately call White Knight again when I need a plumber.

James was on time for both the bid and the performance of the service. He was candid about what he could and could not do. He worked efficiently and answered all our questions. He is clearly the sort of tradesman who we will use as often as the need arises. He cleaned up after himself and did the little things that made us happy with job.
