They're very professional. They put covers on their shoes to keep from getting your floors dirty. I don't think their the least-expensive people around, but they're responsive and professional. They're usually here an hour and a half to check through everything. It always works when they leave, so they know what they're doing.

Description of Work: We called on the hottest day of the year so far because our air conditionner quit. They were willing to come out the same day, even though it meant they would be working late. Turns out that all he had to do was fix the wiring my husband messed up, but it took care of the problem, much to our relief!

I had to have my furnace replaced. The space was very tight but they managed to install new furnace with an electronic air cleaner and humidifier in the same space. Two days later I had a water leak in my kitchen. I figured it was related to the previous install of the furnace with the humidifier. MountainWest came out and tracking the location of the leak, it was plastic tubing from the original condo construction. MountainWest figured a way to install flexible tubing within the PVC tubing so the water could bypass the original spot where the leak was coming from. The repair took a couple of hours. MountainWest did not charge for the repair even though it was not their work that caused the leak. I insisted on paying them, so we agreed I could pay for the parts, but there was no charge for the labor. They left me with a very good feeling that they truly did stand behind their work. Without a question I would use them again, or recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing/HVAC services.

I made an appointment for 4/12/2011 at 3:30 pm. I arrived at the house at 3:30, at 3:45 nobody had shown up so I called the company and asked if somebody was supposed to meet me. They said yes someone was supposed to meet me, they would call him and find out where he was. I waited until 4:00 and still nobody had called me back or arrived at the house. I don't know how long someone is expected to wait, but I felt like 30 minutes with no communication from the company was unacceptable so I left the house at 4:00. I had left work early to make this appointment with them so not only did they waste my time, they cost me money. The guy who was supposed to meet me finally called at 4:30, he was very apologetic, he said he had gotten busy with things. He asked if we could re schedule, I asked him to put himself in my shoes, they had already missed the first appointment why would I make another one? He agreed and said he understood.
Description of Work: I called and requested a bid for a new furnace and new duct work for a home.

While we hope that all feedback is positive we certainly need to hear the negative comments as well so that we can learn about our mistakes and correct them going forward. I sincerely apologize that you didn't receive the 5 star experience you should have. The potential of a full furnace replacement is a big job, however, I would feel just as bad if it was a service call and your system was not working and you were cold. After reviewing the complaint I looked into it. The Residential Estimator did have to spend extra time with a previous appointment to make sure they were taken care of completly, however that does not excuse the lack of communication. Our process is to call the customer when we are on the way so they are ready for our arrival or, in this case, since we were running late. The Estimator should have let the office know that he was spending extra time with his current customer so the office can communicate with the next customer. While we will always spend as much time as necessary to make sure we take care of the customers needs, this lack of communication is unexcusable and the employee involved will be coached accordingly. I hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you. You have my personal guarantee that we will give you the service you deserve or I will give you $200 out of my pocket.

We traveled 15 miles to the location (rental). At 1040 I called to varify I had the date/time correct. I was told the tech should be there, and they would call him to see what's up and call me back. At 1045 they called me back. Due to some screw up on their part, the tech was in Salt Lake, driving around looking for this address. The address was in OGDEN! For my inconvience created by their inability to sent they tech to the correct city all I got was a "Well, sorry about that." "Sorry about that"? That was a very lame response in my opinion. I told him to forget trying to come to all the way to Ogden, and that I would call someone else. I got another "Sorry about that.". Not impressed. Will NEVER will call again.

After reviewing the dispatch board and noticing the missed call, I investigated what happened. Then I just noticed your review here. I agree that we failed and inconvienienced you. Since this happened we have changed part of our training process as this was a new dispatcher. Going forward all dispatches done by a new dispatcher must be reviewed until they show complete competency in this area. Once this skill has been checked off in their new hire training packet, they will have their dispatches randomly reviewed for continued accuracy and competency for the next 30 days. I hope you'll consider allowing us to serve you again.

I rated this company highly 3 years ago, and it continues to provide excellent service. An appointment was available within a few days of calling (did not realize there was a leak at that time), Jim the technician arrived several minutes early, and everything went smoothly. The leak was very small, but I was certainly happy to have it stopped. Jim said my current filter was still plenty clean, so he left the one he was going to install as a spare (no charge).
Description of Work: Routine gas furnace and AC tune up (first in 3 years) which included discovering and fixing a gas leak.

Our AC went out on Saturday during a midsummer heat spell. We were afraid we'd have to wait a week before getting someone to come out. I called MountainWest the next day (Sunday) and left a message. They responded within hours and said they'd send someone out between 9 and 11 the next morning. Their man Jim showed up promptly at 9, quickly diagnosed the problem, and fixed it -- all within 25 minutes. He was very professional and very congenial.
Description of Work: They got our AC system going again. Repaired a worn wire connection and replaced a blown fuse.

This is a great company. I really liked the sales rep. He was polite and aswered all of my questions. This company emails their estimate to you. The rep was very kind to include many different options for me price and equiptment wise. In the end I went with another company who has a little more experience. The other company's estimate was so close to Mountainwest HVAC. It was a tough decision.

Our air-conditioner would not start this weekend. We called Mountainwest on Saturday and they returned our call the same day. Since it was not urgent, we scheduled them to come out Tuesday morning. The technician showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He reset our air-conditioner and told us how to reset it ourselves if we ever need to do it again. He was helpful and efficient.

The Mountainwest HVAC sales representative met with me once when he came to my home after I requested a bid for air conditioning. In talking to him, I realized that I should probably be thinking of replacing my furnace with a more efficient and variable speed furnace rather than having AC added to my existing furnace. We communicated via email after the initial meeting, which I liked as it gave me time to read over the bid, think about questions that I wanted clarification on. There was a little mix-up with the paperwork/payment on the day of installation but because I had all of the email correspondence to refer to, the problem was easily and quickly resolved.
Description of Work: Two Mountainwest HVAC employees arrived at my home promptly on the day we arranged for my furnace to be replaced. The weather was wet that day and they set up drop cloths from the back door to basement steps to protect the floor. They got to work immediately, removing the old furnace, and installing a new, high efficiency, variable speed furnace. They pointed out to me something that had been installed incorrectly with the original furnace and that they would fix it for the new installation. In addition, they reglued some PVC pipes that were dripping and replaced some asbestos tape on the ductwork. They took about five hours to finish the work and did not take a break the entire time.

Woke up in the a.m. to a cold house. Called Mountainwest and made an appointment for between 1-3 pm that day. Jim was at our house just before 1 pm. He diagnosed the problem quickly as a dirty flame sensor. He also checked and adjusted the gas pressure while he was here. He took the time to show me how to clean the sensor, so I could do it again next fall. He answered all my questions and was courteous and professional. This is the second time Jim has been to our house (last summer it was the A/C compressor). He always arrives on time and is pleasant to work with.

When the condo I was buying was inspected, it was noted that the furnace wouldn't ignite. The sellers agreed to have that fixed, but when I moved in, it didn't seem to be working. My Realtor contacted Mountainwest, the company that had done the repair. They said they'd send someone out, but would charge the $59 service fee if the repair had been done properly. Phil, the technician who'd done the repair came, and the furnace ignited right away. I still have no idea why it didn't when I tried it. Since he was there, I asked if he'd do an adjustment recommended by the gas company. He also checked for leaks as I thought I'd smelled a little gas. Everything checked out. He charged $45 to adjust both the furnace and water heater (much less than a quote I'd received from another company), and said he was waiving the service call charge (even though I was the one apparently in error). If I have any further need of heating or cooling repair, these are the folks I'll call.
Description of Work: Phil checked that the furnace was igniting properly, adjusted the furnace and water heater to a new gas mixture as per the gas company's recommendation, and checked for any gas leaks.
