We couldn't have been more impressed with Mountainwest. They were honest, punctual, friendly and experts in their field. With temperatures in the single digits and 3 small children in our home, it was a disaster when not only our boiler, but also our back-up furnace (which we had never had to use) both broke down. Mountainwest immediately sent out James to take a look at our furnace. Within a few minutes, James had located the problem (furnace had been rewired incorrectly) and fixed the problem. He was very knowledgable, funny and quick with the job, plus the charge was a mere $65 (whew!). My husband had located the problem with the boiler and so James bought us time using our furnace to get the boiler parts ordered in. He mentioned as he was leaving that if we needed help with any heating, air or plumbing problem in the future to give them a call. That reminded us that earlier in the week we had a few plumbing issues arise, so we scheduled a free estimate the next day. The next day Brandyn arrived and went through our house evaluating our plumbing problems. First, we had an issue with a sewer smell. He diagnosed the problem and gave a very fair bid on repairing the problem ($115). Next, we had a bath fixture that wasn't working. Brandyn diagnosed a broken cartridge. We investigated the brand and when I called, found that the company had a lifetime warranty on it so Brandyn told us to get the cartridge (vs them buying and charging us for it) and gave us a very reasonable bid to install it. ($85) Our last issue was from our remodel-a venting issue that had been red flagged by the gas company. Upon further inspection Brandyn found that the water heater had been properly vented--saving us a lot of money, I am sure! Brandyn was prompt, personable, helpful and very knowledgable. As a general rule (probably like most people) we are very wary of the home repair industry, as we have been burned in the past. When something breaks, there is a sinking feeling that the repair will cost an arm and a leg. It was so refreshing to work with a company that came when they said they would, knew what they were talking about, were trustworthy, and also very kind, genuine people. I choose most products in my life based on reviews other people write, but I lazily don't usually choose to write reviews myself, but I felt that the customer service was so outstanding I needed to write this review. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: We had multiple things go wrong--all at the same time. First, the boiler for our radiant heat went out then our back-up furnace was not working and we had a host of plumbing issues.

I purchased a furnace inspection and cleaning service from this company for the two furnaces in my home. Jim, the technician called and asked if he could come early, the scheduled time was for 2:00pm he arrived at 1:30pm. He inspected and adjusted both furnaces and replaced a capacitor in both. Before replacing he brought the parts in and took the time to show me the readings so I could see for myself that they were not performing properly. He also showed me where one of them had started to leak. I appreciated the extra effort he took to answer my questions and made sure I understood why the parts needed to be replaced.

Giving the symptoms, they could have sold me a more expensive part that I did not need. Instead, he carefully checked things out and sold me what I did need. The Technician had the part in his van, so a second service call was not necessary.

Initially, we just had a service call. The service person came out on Sunday and we thought the rate was fair. He recommended we replace the furnace (which we knew might be coming since it was over 20 years old) and said they would reduce the total by the amount of the service call - which was nice. The sales person who came to the house explained the choices to my satisfaction and I was very pleased with the attention to detail. The installation was done the next day in under 6 hours. The installation crew did not leave a big mess and they explained the new system to us. The company will also file all of our rebates for us.

They were on time, did the job completely and well. Only (minor) issue was that of not covering items in the closet when climbing up into the attic, to prevent insulation and dust from falling on the clothes. I expected that they would have the tarps/cloths for doing so, rather than asking us for something to use. Other than that, the job went well and he even made a positive suggestion about the system, for improvement, that didn't involve buying anything from them.

We’ve never had any problems getting them to come out quickly. They were also the ones to originally install our furnace and AC unit. They seem to know what they're doing and we would recommend their service to others.

My exerience with Mountainwest Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing was great! They were a pleasure to work with from the moment I first called them until the Tech completed the work at my house. I will definitely use them in the future for all of my HVAC needs!
Description of Work: I'd been having problems with my furnace and AC unit for the past year and had tried several HVAC contractors who have attempted to resolve the all the issues, but failed to completely fix them. I called Mountainwest at 8 AM and a technician was at my house about an hour later. The Tech looked over the furnace in detail, diagonsed the problem, and had the unit running smoothly an hour and a half later.

Tech arrived on time and did what appeared to be a good job (I'm not a heater tech). He found that we needed a new voltage controller for the blower motor which was $ 175.00. That seemed steep to me but he had a good set of backup data that showed that was to usual price. I will say that we had the blower motor replaced about a year ago and the voltage controller was not changed. I also know that over or under voltage can damage a motor, so maybe this guy saved us another $400.00 motor replacement.

I've read the other glowing reviews of this company. That was not my experience. Maybe it depends on the technician sent to do the work. Before he arrived, we had two working furnaces. When he left, he had failed to turn either furnace on, and one was no longer working! While the technician was here, he seemed more intererested in trying to sell us new furnaces. His manner was obnoxious. We told him we recognized that our furnaces are old (25 years), but we didn't plan to replace them just yet. At one point he threatened that if he found cracks in the furnaces, he would condemn them, and we would no longer be able to run them. Finally he left, and we discovered neither furnace was working because he'd failed to turn the switches on. Once they were flipped, we could see one of the furnaces wasn't working. We called the next day and the same technician returned. He claimed there was a problem with the pressure switch and that he had told us about this the day before--he hadn't or we would have discussed the price and what was involved in the repair.When we asked him the cost of the pressure switch, he said it would be $350. At that point, we told him we would find another company. We found another and the difference was unbelievable. We did have the presssure switch replaced. Interestingly, the cost of the switch was $145. We won't be using Mountainwest again--alot of our review is based on the behavior of the technician.

It worked out fine. They were kind, prompt, cheap and it was good. I liked it. They came out within a week of me purchasing the service and I didn't pay anything other than the cot of the deal. I have 2 furnaces and I used them to service one of them. There is one downstairs which we largely keep off unless we have guests, and he went ahead and changed the filters on that for nothing. I like the company. The guy was very nice.

Jim was great. He was actually a little bit early which was great. He performed the furnace tune up, showing me things on my furnace that no one has ever taken the time to do, i.e., if there is no heat, where to check for the lights that indicate something is wrong. My furnace is new (installed by a provider that I will never use again - wishi I had known about Mountainwest!). I had some concerns about the coil in the bottom of my furnace that works with my central air. Another service provider, which I will never use again, told me it was dirty and needed to be cleaned to the tune of $950!! Jim checked this for me, even though it was not part of the tune up, and told me he did not agree and that they could do the cleaning in the spring along with cleaning my air ducts and my furnace for 1/3 of the price. Since then I recommended Mountainwest to my neighbor who called them and was very happy with their prompt service (her furnace was not working at all) and their reasonable prices. I will definitely be calling them in the spring.

This company is the BEST! Jared is the person who always comes out. This is such a good idea to have the same person show up because I know him, he knows my furnace and the way everything is set up. He is always prompt, professional, friendly, and quick. And when he's done, I know that it's been taken care of by the best of the best. Seriously, I cannot say enough about this company, more specifically about Jared. Also ... the young woman who sets the appointments (wish I could remember her name) is always friendly, professional, helpful, and just generally a great person to have as a customer service representative.
Description of Work: I can't remember the exact cost as I'm on a yearly contract, but I do know for sure the cost was very reasonable. I have my AC/heating checked twice a year.

The service tech showed up on time and after a brief discussion of what he was going to do he set off to work. After about half an hour the tech called me to the basement and said he had some bad news regarding my furnace. He had finished cleaning the furnace but while inspecting the heat exchanger he had noticed a seam that was split and creating a potential hazard. Knowing that I had just purchased the house, the tech recommended that I call my homeowners insurance and have them send one of their technicians out to inspect and fix/replace the furnace. Although Mountainwest Heating did not do the repair on my furnace ( because it was covered by home warranty). I will be calling them back to service the new heater and replace a water heater in the near future.

Cooler didn't cool. Had to call them back to fix it so it was getting water. Then they were late sending my packet for rebate and didn't include a copy of the invoice. I didn't know that for a long time after I sent it in. Then I was informed I needed to send in an invoice. Mountainwest said they already gave me a copy and the owner, Brett was rude to me. He mimicked me, talked down to me, lectured me about how I was not meeting his needs when I"M THE CUSTOMER! I think it is because they just don't respect women. brett was that type and he's the owner, so his workers aren't any better. STAY AWAY FROM THEM--especially if you are female. They will take your money, all right, and treat you disrespectfully in the process, especially if you hold them accountable for their work. So, lousy job; rude if you expect them to make it right.

[member name removed], I really didn't think you would take it this far. I am in the process of speaking with the Management of Angie's List to see how to handle this. After blackmailing us with the threat of a bad review to get a swamp cooler below cost, then require us to also replumb your water line. All the while berating and mistreating my employees until finally I had to tell them that all communication with you had to go through me. I really didn't think you would take it so far as to defamate me personally. I think the reviews above and below yours speak volumes as to how we treat our customers, male or female. I hope their is a process by which people can be stopped from taking advantage of quality contractors. Bret Parkinson Owner
