The work was expensive. The cost of the service was $600 total including the $20 Big Deal. They came out the next day I purchased the Big Deal. They were thorough, quick, and timely. It was just more expensive than I would like. There were no problems with the work they did. I would probably use them again.

Our records through email and the time stamped invoice documents show that you gave an initial signature authorization approving our technician to rebuild your toilet quite awhile prior to the time stamped signature showing a complete invoice. We do apologize that you feel that you were not quoted a price before any work was performed as it is company policy to always keep our customers informed before beginning any work. We appreciate you letting us know that you felt our technician did not clearly communicate with you, which always helps us improve. Again, our sincerest apologies.

They fixed the leak and replaced the parts, but it was much more expensive than I expected. I even had a $100 coupon that I got from Angie's list. It was also a little tricky that they charge you a $200 diagnostic fee. They waive the fee once you accept their service but a fee that high almost guarantees that you'll have the service done. The $39 service call fee was not included in that. I already diagosed the problem anyway. The container protecting the shutoff valve was full of water. It wasn't that hard to determine. It was double the price to replace the entire shut off valve rather than just the pipe. I don't understand why it costs that much to include a new handle since it all has to be dug up in the first place. However, the guys that came out to fix the leak were very nice and fixed it in a timely manner.

The repairman was on time and was professional demeanor and appearance. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to fix the disposal with a broom handle and a cup of ice cubes. He had in his truck the replacement disposal unit I discussed with the representative on the phone in case he actually needed it. I have no question that if he had had to replace the unit, the job would have been completed the same day. I had already been impressed by the company, but they went above and beyond my expectations. Clearly, this company believes in getting the job done well and not in taking advantage of customers. I was completely ready to pay for a new unit, and very relieved when that turned out to be unnecessary. I am very pleased with the company and will call them again when I need plumbing work done.
Description of Work: I'm writing this long after the service call, so I'm doing my best to recall the details accurately. I called because I had a garbage disposal that was no longer working. The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful, and instructed me how to reset the disposal so we could be certain that the disposal actually needed fixing. When the reset button was no help, we then set an appointment to have the disposal looked at and potentially replaced. I purchased the Big Deal in which I paid $20 for $100 of service.

We apologize that you cancelled your appointment 15 minutes after scheduling prior to having a technician properly diagnose your problem because we were unable to guarantee over the phone that repairs would be covered 100% by the voucher. Unfortunately, sometimes with a customers description of problems over the phone such as in your case, we are unable to determine what repairs are needed.

I will do my best to recount as accurately as possible. This is the first time I have been disappointed enough with a service to put time and energy into writing any kind of negative review. Apologies for length and detail. HWP (Harvey West Plumbing) was chosen to replace a natural gas line as part of final repairs for sale of my deceased parent's home. The original line ran underground under the driveway and under the wood fence into the backyard where the line joins a pool heater and natural gas generator. I had to find a contractor to replace this line as part of my commitment to the home's buyer. The existing line that needed the repair was completely buried and hidden. I chose HWP based on their reviews and Angie's list. It might have been reverse logic, but I saw that they were expensive (~35% higher than other bidder) and thought this might mean better work. They came out quickly after notifying me of a small (~50 dollar) call fee. Jeff came out and offered to perform a leak test. This was $433. The leak test showed that the length of pipe I suspected would have to be replaced. Jeff informed me that city codes require complete replacement of pipe sections that run underground. That evening I received a quote, for $3225 for the repair of the pipe section. Looking back, the quote was somewhat vaguely worded, but it specifically mentioned 2 hours ($710) of extra labor and up to 30' of pipe ($2500). I took this to mean replacement. I spoke to another gentleman, John, who is a supervisor, that evening about excavating the fence and removal of a bent fence post that was very near the projected dig/work area. This post also needed replacing and I asked if the post could or should be removed for the repair. I has hoping that the repair dig might include removal of the bent post, but this was not clarified. I mentioned that I could be out of town while the work was being performed, and he expressed concern about how I planned to pay. I thought this was strange. I decided to think about it, as the price seemed really high. After consulting another plumber, I figured the $433 I was already in with HWP closed some of the gap between the two bids to proceed with HWP. I sent the "ok" to HWP on Sunday night, Aug 31. The work was commenced and completed on Thursday Sept 4. I had a chance to stop by mid job and check in, but had to leave that afternoon for work. That evening Jeff called to say that they were done and to collect payment over the phone. I paid then with a debit card. I wish I had reviewed the work first, paying in full right then by debit was a mistake on my part. The following day I saw that the pipe had been bypassed in the section by the fence instead of replaced. The new run of pipe did go under the driveway, but had been rerouted completely from there. The pipe now exited straight up out of the ground about 28" in height next to the driveway, exposed. HWP took the liberty of drilling a hole in the fence to run the pipe above ground into the back yard. I was pretty shocked at that sight. The appearance of the pipe was unsightly, but more importantly the proximity of this unguarded pipe protruding from the ground is about 12" from the corner edge of the driveway, right where one will drive when pulling up to the house. I sent an email after hours to HWP. Jeff called me the next day and I asked why the pipe had not been replaced and if they could route the pipe under the fence as the original and as expected. This was not communicated to me before or during the job. Jeff said he would have to defer to his boss, John. John called within a few minutes and I explained the situation, my expectations, and expressed my disappointment. He was fairly disagreeable, claiming that running the pipe under the fence was (quote) "impossible" and that the work was permitted and therefore complete. I asked why "impossible" was not mentioned before the job and John explained that they just weren't going to dig on the other side of the fence near the pool equipment. I asked why noone called during the job to clear this plan with me, and did not get a direct answer. (Later call John told me they did call and left me a message, see below. He said that replacing the pipe would cost another "couple thousand" in labor and they were "just not willing to do it" originally. Finally he conceded that I paid a lot for the work and they could possibly route the pipe closer to the fence, but he would need to look at it first. I told him that was fair as a first step to getting a resolution. I was polite and clear to John how unhappy I was with the result. He said he would need to look at it and call me back. I thanked him. This was Monday Sept. 8, 8:45 AM. I brought the situation to the attention of the buyer of the house, he looked at the work Sept 9 and agreed that the position of the pipe will present a hazard to safely using the driveway and that some action to correct it will be required. He also commented on the lack of clean up in the area from the work performed. Sept 10 I called HWP a second time at 11:15am. I reached John and asked if he had had a chance to look at the pipe. He said he had but there was nothing that they could or would do. On this call he said they did call me during the job but because I did not answer my phone, they proceeded with the inspection and now that it is a few days later, it is now too late and they are not able to help. John said I should have called earlier. (?) I spent a painful 10 minutes explaining to the best of my ability that I need their help in some way to fix the exposed pipe. He said that I had waited too long to raise a concern, that it has been permitted by the city, and the job is done. He did quote me $500 to move the pipe closer to the fence. I asked if there was any covering that would work that could be installed to protect the pipe, and he said that I could cover it, myself. I asked bluntly if this is how they do business, and if it mattered at all if I was unhappy with the result of the work. John said that if it is good enough for the city, it is done. I was genuinely speechless after this conversation. As a last effort, I called 9/14 at 11:20 AM to ask for the owner. I again reached John and he said that the owner (Harvey West) is on vacation and there is no way to reach him. I have contacted HWP three separate times and have been as nice as I can be, and presented reasonable options to resolve my concern with the position of the pipe, but they have been completely unwilling to correct what the buyer of the house and I see as a safety concern. This job cost a premium, and I do not feel that HWP was honest up front, did the quality of work that they claim to offer, or have offered any kind of solution to my grievance. I have three problems with HWP: 1) They were not clear about the work they intended to perform up front. 2) Uncommunicative during the job. 3) They have demonstrated no willingness whatsoever to make any attempt to help find a resolution to my dissatisfaction with their (expensive) work. To be clear, I want HWP to reroute the pipe, above ground if necessary to get the pipe away from the area where a bumper from a car could collide with it. All attempts so far on my part to reach some sort reasonable compromise have been met with either a "no" or a quote for more labor. I feel that the value of their work vs. what I paid is unacceptable, if not flatly different than was quoted and discussed. I hope I can help others avoid this type of contractor.

My husband and I have saved for quite some time to remodel our shower/bathroom so that we could have what we call our "Forever Shower". Basically everything we could possibly want body jets, a bench, etc. I was worried about hiring a plumber as I didn't have any good recommendations but I have had good luck with Angie's list so I decided to start my look there. I got three bids for the work (Including paying for a bid from this company). While this company was the most expensive when the bid was given they had assured me that they had lots of experience installing the high end shower jets that we had splurged on. From there it went downhill and fast. First there were scheduling issues and my install had to be rescheduled. In the end, after all the work was done (and they had come out several times to try to fix the mistakes they made unsuccessfully) I ended up having to hire a different plumber to come out and fix all the issues (Including stripped parts, incorrectly install jets, and many other issues) at my own expense. The new plumber was amazing and I am lucky to have found him. I found this company unhelpful and unwilling to take responsibility for any of their mistakes. They showed up each time completely unprepared. missing even some basic tools such as a screwdriver (which had to be borrowed from me). I don't have the time or energy to pursue this matter beyond writing this review and hoping that I will save someone the frustration of using this company.

We brought them out. I called them twice for a quote to install a toilet. When I called to schedule, the customer service rep said she couldn’t give me a quote and there was no tech available. The guy came out knowing we had $100 credit. The quote he gave me, was $232.83 (but lowered it to $209.55), plus the $39 service fee. Lowe’s would charge us $109 to install it. The tech that came out was a pleasant man and is just representing his company, but the price was too high. Since this was double what we could get elsewhere, we told him we didn’t need the service. If I had paid closer attention to the reviews, I would have seen other members who have purchased this Deal had the same issue, and I wouldn’t have purchased it at all.

The plumber spent most of his time at my home trying to up sell me to replacing my toilet. It was a very uncomfortable encounter. purchased a voucher for $20 for $100 in plumbing services, thinking this should be close to covering the cost of fixing the toilet since the only problem was the fill valve. Dustin showed up on time, and proceeded to evaluate the situation. After looking around and telling me how nice my home was, he came out and told me that the toilet was very old (late 80's and I have several others in the house that are working just fine). His recommendation was that it should be replaced. He gave me a price of around $750 which I thought was outrageous since I just replaced a toilet in another bathroom for much less than that. His secondary recommendation was that the toilet be completely rebuilt for a cost of almost $500, which I thought was equally outrageous. Only when I ASKED what needed to be done to get the toilet running again, did he give me the option of replacing the fill valve. It took him about 20 minutes total, and it's not an expensive part, but the cost was almost $300. He would not give me a breakdown of the charges for labor and parts, only a total amount. The ONLY reason I had him do the job was that it was late on a Friday afternoon, and I had company coming the next day with no time to call and schedule another plumber. After he left, I called and spoke with a supervisor, who gave me the same story about the charges being a total for "the job" rather than parts and labor. I understand that concept if the part is quite expensive, but $268 for a 30-minute job to replace a $20-$30 part makes me feel gouged. I would not recommend this plumbing service.

We apologize you felt our technician was trying to up sell you, however that is not the case. Our technician spoke to you first listening to your issues of consistent stoppages, consistently running water and that you had a handyman illegally work on the toilet six months ago and the repair had already failed. After checking your toilet to diagnose the causes of the problems, the technician found that the toilet is 25 years old with a 5 gallon toilet tank. Your toilet rim jets are clogged with years of calcium build up causing the consistent stoppages, the fill valve was worn out, a previous repair was made on your toilet by placing fishing weights on the chain at the flapper, and the tank bolts were completely rusted. The technician recommended a toilet replacement with either a 1.2 gallon top of the line toilet or a less expensive mid grade toilet or an additional option to completely rebuild your current 5 gallon toilet for quite a bit less than the $500 quote that you mentioned. Toilet replacement was the only option to correct all problems with your toilet however a complete rebuild would correct most issues except the calcium buildup. Although we do not charge by the hour, our records indicate the total time for your service call started at 12:33pm with a completion time at 2:10pm. We pride ourselves by offering our valued customers only the best service, quality products and to solve their plumbing issues rather than offering temporary short term patch repairs. Although we only offered you the work that was necessary, we regret that you are a dissatisfied customer.
