Good pricing. Ran a little behind schedule so the project started late but he accommodated it by offering additional services free of charge. The craftsmanship was excellent . The work crew were friendly-would have liked to see the plants before planting however.

Mr Ted Nichols came to my house and made a survey. I have large tree whose shade was ruining my lawn and shrubs. I wanted to keep my trees and redo the landscaping with more shade tolerant grass and shrubs. Also I wanted to get rid of my Bermuda which was so invasive and impossible to keep out of my flower beds. My Nichols came by and gave me a design that I liked and that I approved. About two weeks later, his crew arrived. They used a machine to remove about two inches of topsoil and all my Bermuda grass. They dug up my old twelve year old builder-installed shrubs, some of them were huge. They construced tree rings and flower bed edging using cocrete, rebar, and chop blocks, revised the spriklers and drainage system, installed Emerald Zosia and plants. The Zosia is beautiful and is like walking on a soft carpet.Because of the heat, Mr Nichols suggested that I get a waiver from the City of Plano to allow sprinkling every day for two weeks and then every other day for two weeks to allow all the plants to establish root systems. This I did.The grass and all of the plants are flourishing except for two dwarf pitsporums that died ( probably from overwatering?). I called Mr Nichols about this and one day two new plants appeared. Someone came by and planted and watered the new plants. Now the good part: Someone came by the second day also and watered again. What a professional!I highly recommend Ted and will use them next year to do something wiht my back yard.

The entire process took 4 days. They removed 20 redtips, 5 yopons, a crepe myrtle and a dozen or so mature shrubs. The day they arrived (promptly at 8) we were getting ready to take the dogs for a walk. By the time we got back from the walk (roughly 30 minutes) all of the trees were cut down and they were beginning to remove the shrubs. By the end of the day they had removed ALL of the trees and shrubs, roots and all. They had also removed about three inches of dirt from the side yard in preparation for the new dirt and sod. They hauled two loads of brush to the recycle plant to turn them into mulch. Very impressive. When they left for the evening we could have had a party in the back yard. They cleaned EVERYTHING up, cleaned off the deck and eve skimmed everything out of the pool before they left. The next day they brought in the flagstone to put by the pool and had all of the beds prepped for the new dirt and mulch. By the end of day the flagstone was installed and the beds were ready to install the drip system. And the side yard was sodded. Again, the pool deck and pool were clean prior to their leaving. The next day was installation of the drip system and putting in the dirt in preparation for the planting. Day 3 was the pits for them. We had a problem with one of the stations in the back yard. They had to literally dig under our deck to access the controls for 3 stations .... when our pool was redone last year the contractor evidently (unbeknownst to us) laid the new deck over the controls. They spent an incredible amount of time fixing the problem so that we didn't have to have the deck cut into and only charged an additional $350 to do that work. We expected (and would not have had an issue) over $600 to do that work. By the end of day 3 the irrigation system was fixed, all of our stations (including the ones in the front of the house) were working properly, all of the dirt was in and ready for the planting on Day 4. Day 4 the planting was done and the yard looked incredible. They spent a good bit of time making sure that all of the drip system was working properly and, once again, the place was thoroughly cleaned. One of the most impressive things that was totally unexpected was that we have a huge live oak tree in the back of the yard. A very large root had grown under a paver going to our driveway and raised it. They literally moved the root and repositioned the paver so it's all flat. We had asked if they would add re-doing a rock walk we had in the side yard. They fixed it, fixed another rock walk we had going to our pool equipment and didn't charge us anything for it. All in all it was an incredible experience. Spending that much money on a project can give one a great deal of stress, but truly they earned the money. The crew was efficient and worked hard from the time they got here until they left. Ted was on site most of the time ensuring that everything was going as planned. Extremely happy!!

Ted & his crew, were on time, completed this job in 1 1/2 days. Results are beautiful and gave good care instructions at the end.

I called Focal Point and requested a bid for new Landscaping on the front of my home.Ted came out and within a week drew me a design (he dropped it off in my mailbox - no phone call).I looked over the bid and drawing (which did look good). i called him and wanted to adjust/remove a few things (reduce the cost a few hundred dollars). He said he would look over the bid when he got back into the office.I never heard back from him, I was looking to spend approx $3K on this modest project (which was close to his bid).I am not sure what happened - I felt like he was perhaps too busy with other projects and simple did not have time for mine.The professional thing to do would of been to call me back. I will not be recommending Focal Point to anyone.

No worked performed. Called for quote on May 1st and never rec'd a follow up from vendor. Will not do business with vendors who for whatever reason, do not have the professionalism to call back for prospective business.

Ted (owner) came in advance to review work sop very punctual every day- guano us complete plant for week friday/yard- working crow- loopy job site extremely clean- we are very impressed with final product! glad we hired them.

Jed was great! He was very professional and did a great job designing my landscaping.

He was very thorough and knowledgeable. He charged us what he said he would charge us. He was very responsive. He did a good job of being technical.

Projuct went well - this is the 5th or 6th time that I have used Focal Point Landscaping and have been impressed each time I have used them. They do excellent work at a fair price. I have a great looking landscaped area due to Focal Point Landscaping.

Ted and his crew did an excellent job. Ted met with me 2-3 times to review my project. He prepared a design and quotation free of charge and made modifications based on our input. A simple agreement was prepared which spelled out what was to be done. His crew showed up on time and were very thorough. When asked to address a small special request they were very accomidating. The project was finished in a timely manner and Ted was on hand throughout the project to guide his crew and to review the project with me. The quality was excellent and we are very pleased with the design and the final product.

I worked with the owner, Ted Nichols. He was prompt with responding to my initial call and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Ted spent time talking with me to understand what I wanted for my front yard. He had some great ideas that he incorporated into a detailed plan. He was very responsive to several calls I made asking questions. Ted is definitely a professional in this field and has the education and experience to provide excellent work. His crew is fantastic. They did an excellent job as well. They even brought my mail to me at the back door when the new front porch was being installed. Ted went the extra mile to make sure the landscaping would be watered properly by redirecting my sprinkler system. He also paid close attention to the drainage issues. He redirected and buried the down spout to part of the gutter system and ended up installing a french drain without adding to our agreed contract price. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the work done by Ted and his crew. I hope to have him back to do some work in my back yard. I would most definitely recommend Focal Point Landscaping to anyone needing these services.

I am pleased with Ted Nichols and his landscaping crew. Received three estimates from different companies and Ted's was the most cost effective for the work needing to be done. With all of the surprises which occurred during this project, Ted and his crew took in stride and did a great job. If I have any future work needing to be done, I will call Focal Point Landscaping. The finished backyard is quite beautiful and is growing nicely since the installation was done.

It went very well. Focal Point was prompt, easy to work with, and cleaned up after themselves. I am very pleased with their work, and I intend to use them in the future.

Due to the nature of the present work, I have to put that work off till probably next summer. They were prompt and presented me with a bid and I was pleased with my interaction with them. I felt the quote was reasonable. I probably will go with another estimate that I also received which was in the same ballpark, but he had done work before. I probably will not do that work until next year.

The stone border and all the plants they installed are high quality and look better than we ever expected. At the completion of the work, Ted set up a time to meet with us to go over maintenance requirements and answer our questions. We definitely felt like a valued customer throughout the process. Ted also stands by his work and has been back to our house a couple of times to address some minor items. Since we were not in a hurry, we were on Ted's "when-you-can get-to-us" list. He called a few days before to alert us when they would start. Focal Point showed up as stated, worked quickly and efficiently, and were done with all the changes in about 6 hours. We were very impressed with the work and price. They completed the entire job in two days with landscaping crew. The work was done on 05-12-2011 and 05-13-2011.

Ted's design was very detailed and met all expectations. The crew was very professional - the arrived on time and worked quickly. We were very satisfied with the results. Ted spent time after the install describing the care and watering needs for all the plants.

The work started on time. We reviewed the complete plan and made some minor changes. The work was performed over three days. They also made adjustments in the sprinkler system. Finally, they added some grass sod not in the scope at no charge.
