TruGreen Lawn Care - 5140

My only complaint with them is their billing, how they do their invoicing and billing department. I have no complaints with their work. We specifically work with Colon McMan who is our contact person. They are just very responsive and very professional. I have really nothing but good things to say about their service. But their billing department and the way they invoice is enough to make you stop working with the company. It is terrible. They send you an invoice. But they aren’t specific about what they are billing you for. It is only some code and you don’t know what they are.

The company that we were using was bought out by TruGreen so we use them now. They do a good job and they come right out to take care of it any time we have an issue.

Very poorly. TruGreen was to fertilize, treat for weeds and insects. I paid extra for grub protection, insect protection, aeration, and other services, and had very poor results. Then I learned from my neighbor that the service man came, but often did not apply the treatments. I was, of course, charged. My lawn never looked as good as those around me, and now I know why. I would not trust this company to do what it says it will do, and I would expect them to charge me for services they do not provide. Too many other companies take pride in their work and in customer service. Don't use TruGreen.

They come on a regular schedule. They are always on time. They treat for fleas as well. The lawn looks very good due their service. They always answer questions and have good follow up.

We have had a contract with them for the past few years. They would come out quarterly and it would cost $150 to $200 per annum for the treatments. We have not been very happy with them over the past year and would not be using them any longer. We were not happy with their service as our yard looked horrible. While they were treating our yard, a portion of our yard ended up getting grubs and the person treating it never noticed. They said that they would seed our yard because it was done under their air and they never came to seed. We talked to them about it and they said that they would give us seeds to seed it. We did not accept that and told them that they needed to seed it. It has not happened yet and it is late in this season to be seeding now. We have been interacting with our service representative.

There were numerous billing errors beginning with double billing on my credit card. The credit was issued. During the time of the double billing they called and wanted to do additional services because I had a "credit". I agreed to the additional services because of the credit but was later billed $120.04 for the services. I contacted them and was told I would receive a credit. The error was still on my December Visa Statement. I wrote a letter on Jan. 31, 2011 requesting an explanation IN WRITING regarding the charge. I never received any additional information but got another bill on February 17. I called and was told I owed the 120. but the customer service rep "Sandy" could not provide any explanation. I again asked for a written explanation of the charges. I received nothing from them and the bill was turned over to a collection agency. I HAVE NEVER had any collection in over 40 years. I paid the collection agency but received an additional bill on March 30. I called Trugreen again and demanded they clear my account. I am waiting for a resolution. My recourse is to report Trugree to the BBB and to Angies List for deceptive sales practices. This incident could have been resolved with a follow-up letter from Trugreen. I suspect they would not put it in writing because they know they are using deceptive sales practices. I will never use them again and cannot say enough negative things about the follow-up and customer service. The only time I heard from Trugreen is when they wanted to sell me more treatments over the phone. I urge everyone not to give a verbal agreement for additional services because you have a credit. The credit doesn't exist. Lesson learned the hard way when dealing with this company.

The work this company performs is satisfactory. However, they are constantly calling to urge further services (grub treatments, tree spraying etc.) In November of 2010 they applied chemicals to our lawn for "winterizing". In December they were back again to apply another "winterizing" treatment even though there was a foot of snow on the ground and we had cancelled the service for the year! We cancelled the service permanently this spring as we had sold our house, but they applied another treatment anyway. I could not get through on their customer service line to resolve this and had to call the sales extension - which they answered, and eventually transferred me to a person who said they would cancel the bill and the service.

We canceled our service with Trugreen at the end of 2009 as a budget-cutting measure. However, in 2010, and now in 2011, we continue to get bombarded with phone calls soliciting service. The salespeople who work in this office will not take "No" for an answer. Even the company's sales manager snidely asked how the yard is doing without their service. "Do you have a lot of crabgrass now??" Seriously, worst customer service ever. The yard actually looks better doing it myself using the competitor's product.

One of many issues is that our yard looks bad. Weeds, large bare spots etc - and its not due to it being winter. We told them about the weeds and they said they'd take a look last year, nothing changed. I was contacted in January by the Lewis Center office for services and I told him we would be cancelling our account. He called back a month later to see about services and I stated again - no more services, our business relationship was severed. They showed up on 2/28/2011 and put down a treatment without authorization from me. I've called their corporate headquarters, local offices, national offices and no one has been willing to lend assistance. It's always someone else's department. I finally sent a registered letter to their corporate office and if they show up again to put down a treatment, it's trespassing and I'll contact the police. So my opinion is to run, don't walk away from these guys.

The service itself was acceptable. This company is very aggressive about calling to market additional services. I repeatedly asked them not to call me with these offers and threatened termintation if they didnt. the calls continued so I went to a different company. Two years later I am still getting phone call at least once a month asking me if I would like to re-start the service. I have told them EVERY time that I am not interested and requested that my name be taken off of there call lists. I am always assured that I will be removed but despite these requests I continue to get calls from them.

After a very poor experience in 2009, I notified the company that I was terminating their service for 2010. After multiple calls from their front office with promises to do better and a reduction in their price as an incentive to return, I acquiesced to having them come out again. My mistake. First and foremost, my lawn looked the worst it has in a long time. The kicker for me was getting them to do a simple aeration. I was promised it would be done within 4 days of the salesman's call. Five weeks later after multiple calls from me, an email, and a plea to the lawn care technician, they finally got it done. It appears the sales office makes promises that operations can't keep. When I told them I was terminating their service for good, they again asked for another chance. I explained it was not my job to manage their operations and I was not getting paid to do it for them. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I don't think the do what the say they do. They destroyed my grass the second time they came out. They offered to fix my lawn at an additional $200.00. My son told me to tell them to leave and he would fix it for me.

I don?t know about the price that they charge since my son-in-law takes care of it. They do quite a good job, but we are bombarded with phone calls wanting to add extras in, which we don?t want.

I am not happy with them and that?s why I am looking for a new company. My yard looks terrible. They keep trying to sell me more services when it?s not needed. I normally prepay for the whole year. I had them do grub control and lime. We ended up with a ridiculous billing nightmare because they parched part of the lime and grub control against the regular lawn maintenance. So it made me crazy. I will not use their services again.

I have had them for 20 years. They do a great job. They are always responsive when I call.

Work performed (weed control, pest control and lawn maintenance) was done OK. But their prices kept going up and I kept having things done more and more often so it cost me more. Finally, they told me 2 of my tries were infected with the emerald ash borer, but when I called them to inquire, they never called me back after 4 days. But you better believe that they called me several times when I made my last payments and canceled the service. The final straw was their corporate office calling me and making me offer after offer to go back, and then getting into an argument with me about how one person's actions shouldn't penalize the entire company.

The company cancelled on their first application four times. So i did it myself. They finally came out to do the feeding application but they gave a full application instead of spot treating my lawn. I emailed their headquarters in Tennessee. Someone did call me back and left a message but did not leave a phone number for me to contact them back. I have never heard back from them since. I would not recommend this Lawn care service to anyone.

Everything goes very well. The person who does the work leaves notes for us. They also ask us to leave feedback on the company. I like this.

He did excellent work, he was dependable and did what he said he is going to do. Currently we are using David Woodrum as an arborist to work with us for our trees.

He does a good job. He is dependable.

I used them for about five years. I paid by the year and they kept raising the price. They are a pest and they bug me all the time. You just get one thing done and they are calling you again. Their prices kept going up. They charge $80 for grub treatment. Sometimes they would do treatments that I hadn?t asked for and they would bill me for them, such as aerating my yard. They did a treatment for ants in the yard and I ended up with ants in my house. I had never had ants before they did the treatment. They still call and want me to come back. I had told them not to call me. They are pests. Their quality was good and they cleaned up the dandelions that I had when I purchased the home. I didn't think they were professional.

They are pretty good. I've stuck with them while I've been in my home, going on 7 years. They do the work while I'm not home but leave invoices and notes about what they saw. They are meticulous.

I was very unhappy with them. They left large holes in my lawn, and they never took care of my dandelions. My grass was dying, and I was not pleased with their service. Their prices were much too high, and when I tried to cancel, the technician actually called me at home to tell me he could lose his job. They are unethical and unprofessional, and I would never consider using them again.

They are professional, responsive and punctual. My trees and shrubs look healthy and I have been satisfied with their service.

The owner is a friend of my daughter?s, and has been mowing my lawn for ten years. He is very reliable, and I think he has a pretty good business. Trugreen doesn?t really know anything that I don?t know. I needed somebody who really knew things about plants and give me the right kind of suggestions for lawn care because they?d have a crew that would come and do the work. Trugreen is not on contract. It?s a $25 a month kind of thing. I don?t dislike them and am not saying anything bad about them. Theirs is a clean-up kind of service where there is no personal care. They do the general clean-up, but don?t come out individually and weed or do any sort of planting.
