They were helpful and were able to get me scheduled before the holidays. Two technicians came out and it took the guys about 45 minutes to do the work. They did arrive two and half hours late and I had to call to see where they were. My only complaint is I did not I used the full $200 worth of labor but it was a onetime deal which was a little disappointing to me.

The advice he gave me solved the problem without him having to come over. He did offer to come at another time if we had an electrical problem; but, we decided that since he did fix a problem, we got our money's worth! To use him to fix another issue would be getting two services after only paying for one.

He determined tre was power to the lights and maybe I should change brands of bulbs. He got them to work, one is still working but the other went out again-I changed bulb brand, and still it did not light. What a waste.

On original visit, said the job would cost more than $99 and would take too long for the time allocated. We should have been able to come to terms on a cost overage given the scope of work, but he never did come up with a price for the job I have in mind. Work was rescheduled for 1/8/2014. On that day he called and said it was too wet to do the work, even though all of the work was to be done inside the house. That did not make a lot of sense to me, but I said we could reschedule. We re-rescheduled for 1/15/2014 (today) and he never called or showed up. When I got home this evening I got an email saying "I have to apologize but I have to pass on this job. My work load from angielist coupons is excessive and I can?t do your job. Please contact angieslist and request a refund." As far as I am concerned, he failed to honor the terms of the deal and has said he no longer wants the job.
Description of Work: Kept rescheduling for weeks and then said he did not have time to do the job.

Scheduling was an issue. He was not able to get out to my house quickly. I had wanted him to install a couple of ceiling lights and then do some additional small stuff. By the time he got around to coming to my home, I had taken care of the ceiling lights because I was pressed to get them done before listing house for sale. The small things remaining were a light not working over the cook top. Turned out to be a stupid switch that we never used that got turned off when all wall plates were replaced. He checked the power and said there was no power coming to the unit so there was nothing he could do. I asked if he could check the breakers in the garage and he pretty much said no, if there is no power, there is nothing he could do. He then found the switch that turned the power on to the unit. And yes, I did feel like an idiot at that point. When I asked him to take a look at the two outside lights on the front porch, which had been recently replaced, he acted like it was an inconvenience at that point. I asked him if he had any brackets that might better hold up the lights, and he said no and then promptly left. The main issue was his attitude. He really made me want to try to get my $99 back, but I thought it would not be worth the hassle. To be honest, he made me want to punch him in the face. However, I have found that punching people in the face almost never results in better service and can sometimes get you trouble. Also, electricians can be surprisingly strong, so I thought about it twice and decided to eat the $99 and let him go on to the next customer he needed to rip off. So for $200 worth of service for $99 I got to have a guy come to my house, embarrass me (my fault), and then act like jerk.

Our gazebo is bolted to a slate-tiled slab in our back yard and the contractor who wired the electricity to the ceiling fan and light managed to impinge the wires which caused a short and ultimately our metal gazebo became "hot". The wires were caught in such a way as to preclude fishing new ones through (without tearing out flooring) so Bill created an external conduit in such a way as to be virtually obscured by landscaping. He also swapped out the outlets for GFCI's. Expert Electric eliminated a crazy liability problem while creatively resolving electrical service without further damage/demolition - two HUGE achievements on our behalf. We couldn't be happier!

They did fine. My only complaint is that you are only getting an hour of work which isn't that much of a discount. To maximize your time, have a firm list of what you want them to do and go ahead and buy any replacement parts you think you might need. If you don't need them, you can always return them and that way you'll get everything you need in the hour.

Fixed a breaker, replaced two light switches and moved a switch box from one side of a wall back to its original location on the other side of a wall. They did good work but including a trip to the hardware store to get the correct switches, it took a little over an hour. The additional charges seemed a little high for work he said was more complicated than what the Angie's List offer allowed. My sense is that if all the work could be completed in the timeframe it was done in, how complicated could it have been. All in all though, they did good work, worked quickly and I would probably use them again.

We hired Bill and Expert Electrical after he had provided good advice during a Big Deal special ( 2hrs of work for $99). He had to reschedule the date of the work and was lax about communicating to both of us at all the numbers he had. The result was my Husband waited on the original day of the appointment and he did not show. He also did not respond to my emails with questions. However, once he got here he was able to discuss the communication problem to my satisfaction. He did address my questions about size of the recessed lights for our kitchen. His answer made sense to me so I went with his recommendation He and his assistant went to work and included me in the design and implementing of installing the lights.. He did not repair the ceiling but he had told us that we would have to hire another contractor. Overall I am satisfied with the work.

The service that Expert Electric provided was done in a timely and professional manner; however, if you want a new panel for the purposes of adding circuits to your house (e.g., for Christmas lights or power tools) then Expert Electric's "Big Deal" is not for you. What I thought I was buying was a new panel (200 amp service) particularly with additional circuit breaker slots. After emailing pictures of the panel to him, I explicitly asked questions about the number of open breaker positions the new panel would have and he told me that there would be an additional 8 - 10 available/open positions for expansion. Perfect! I thought. What I got, however, is a panel the same size as the one I had; yes, it's new, but new wasn't my intent. So, I've spent $1600 for a panel that adds nothing; how does that make sense? After the panel was installed, i asked where the extra 8-10 slots were and Expert Electric told me he "thought the panel looked bigger in the picture" - lame, and not so "expert." Adding to the insult, prior to installation he was was somehow able to bill me for 8 additional breakers. Before purchasing this service: - make sure you simply want a replacement or an up-to-date panel - he did a good job of this, but really, what's the point? - count the number of breakers in your current panel so that you know how much extra you will have to pay; the "deal" is structured so that you will have to pay extra: by the way it's $25 per breaker. Expert Electric specified in his "big deal" that extra breakers will cost more but does not say how much more each one will cost. I needed 8 additional ($200) (for reference I own a 2000 sq ft house) - the deal, or my deal, included15. - find out if you need permits; apparently, if one lives within city limits (Houston or Sugar Land I'm presuming) there are additional permits required; Expert Electric was unclear as to how much this would be; either $150 or $300. After asking questions, Expert Electric told me that I don't live within city limits and therefore would not need additional permits. But you might; be prepared. Why didn't Expert Electric look at my address before getting me pressured up about permits that I wasn't going to need? - You will need to call your electricity provider early the morning of the panel exchange (by 7 am) to have them disconnect your electrical service; it's called a "temporary disconnect" - Then you will need to call back before noon (Reliant) to get the service turned back on; if you don't call back by noon, your electrical may be off until the following day. Fortunately Reliant came through and reconnected on the same day; i followed Expert Electric's recommendation to call just before 3 pm - three hours after the noon deadline for same-day reconnect. Ask your electrical provider for the call-in cut off time. Upon asking Expert Electric about the newly installed panel, he promptly directed me to the wording in the "Big Deal" advert, specifically that the advertisement says "up to 200 Amp panel" not "one gets a 200 amp panel." I refer to that as "the catch." Shame on me, of course, but I was very specific about the fact that I wanted several extra breaker positions. Expert Electric should have been upfront about what was actually going to be installed, especially since I told him directly what I wanted; it is for this reason that I will not use him again. The poor rating is because I paid him $1600 and got zero value for it; how irksome is that!

The deal this customer purchased is for the replacement of an old panel with a new panel. All I can say to him and all people is please read the description before making a purchase. The details are listed on the page where it was purchased and this customer admits he didn’t read it. All customers are welcome to call and ask questions prior to making a purchase and most people do.

I purchased a Angie's List deal for $99 and that is all I paid. No "we'll have to charge extra for that" surprises. They were professional and fast. The whole experience took less than an hour which included a trip to a supply store to purchase a part they needed. This was a wonderful experience. I'll have them back next month to do more work that is needed. I'm very impressed and very, very glad I bought that Angie's list deal!

GREAT customer service! Half my house's electrical went out, I looked on Angies List and found a few providers: Bill answered quickly, listened patiently, and immediately told me what to do and what was wrong. He suggested I call Centerpoint immediately for a temp overground line for $260, as it was raining and they couldn't dig to replace the line for awhile. He said it'd be worth it. IT WAS! It was a week by the time I was able to get the original electrical people to come out and replace/repull the wire, and BOY was I happy I had electricity. Bill also came out to eyeball the job, gave a quick estimate, and was totally professional and courteous the whole time. He suggested I look up insurance and the home warranty people also (which I was very much impressed by), he wasn't trying to do a hard sell at all to get me to choose him to do the work. I didn't end up using him because I used the company that originally pulled the wire, but without Bill's help I would have been shooting in the dark. THANK YOU!!
Description of Work: Answered on weekend, courteous and patient, told me exactly what needed to be done, suggested temp line, came out on time for a quick estimate, no hard sell. EXCELLENT guy!

Two experts arrived and replaced a ceiling fan in our living area. They took down the old fan and replaced it with a new one that has a built-in remote and I don't know how they did it, but our electrical problem was also corrected during the process - like magic! Obviously they knew what they were doing - very professional, efficient and courteous. And they cleaned up after themselves.
