I made the call early in the morning and just a couple of hours later and the technician, Tim, was at the house. He quickly diagnosed that the problem was the system needed to be recharged. He gave me some instructions on letting the system run in order to help defrost the coils and that he would return in a few hours. About three hours later Tim called and said he would be over. Very punctual. He recharged the system without any incident. Here is where the experience became great. Tim educated me on signs of the system losing it's charge and what to do about it and when to call. He also explained how the thermostat could increase efficiency by having the proper type, and educated me on the overall heat pump system. I will definitely use Deane Electric & Air Conditioning for my electrical needs again. Thank You Tim for a wonderful experience.

Tim was very efficient and knowledgeable about A/C units when I asked about prices of a new unit. Very helpful and informative, honest and trustworthy. I would definitely use Deane Electrical again.

the electrician arrived on the set day and time i showed her where the 2 fans were to be hung and she went right to work. she was very polite professional she cleaned up after herself and even took the boxes the fans came in with her when she left. the billing practious i liked the most was they charge for the first hour and then for every 15min. thereafter.
Description of Work: i had 2 ceiling fan installed the tech. had to take down 1 light fixture the other was already down. she had to put the fans together and mount them.

One of our central air units went out and we decided to replace it with a new one. We called Deane Electric & Air Conditioning on Monday for a quote. The owner came out personally to evaluate our system and provided us with a detailed price in writing the same day. Even though this was the busy season for HVAC, John Deane (the owner) was able to get the new unit delivered on Thursday and installed on Friday of the same week we first called. The owner came out personally to supervise and assist his workman during the install. I was impressed by the technical knowledge exhibited by John Deane and his staff and the install was completed without any problems. I would use this company again, and recommend them.

John with Deane Electric & A/C showed up the day of the appointment on time. In fact, he was running ahead of schedule and tried calling me to see if he could stop by early. When he could not reach me by phone he stopped by the house and fortunately I was there so we were able to get started ahead of schedule. I gave John a quick run down of the system history as he checked the system pressures and taught me how to properly care for the outside compressor unit. It became clear early on that John is very passionate about his profession and cares about the customer. He believes in teaching the owner how to properly take care of the A/C system in order to achieve the maximum Return on the investment. In other words, he wants to make sure you get your monies worth out of your existing system and does not pressure you to upgrade or find ways to sell you another system. I am confident if you did need a new system (undersized or on last leg) that he would give an honest assessment. Usually, I ask a lot of questions and this day was no exception. John took it in stride and answered all questions graciously and did not make me feel I was wasting his time. He wanted to make sure I felt good about the condition of my system and the quality of the work performed. He was efficient and fast in assessing the condition of the system and performing his checks. When the service was complete my system received a clean bill of health with John complementing on how well I have taken care of my A/C system (good filters and proper cleaning) and I would get the maximum life out of it. Just in case anyone is interested I used Nordic Pure MERV 12 filters. They are the best compromise between air flow and filtration efficiency. On my next A/C or Electrical service or repair "knock on wood" I will be calling Deane Electric & A/C.
Description of Work: Called Deane Electric and A/C after looking through Angie's list ratings. I have had other A/C contractors visit in the past and John with Deane Electric & A/C by far was the most friendly, responsive, and knowledgable. I needed Deane to perform a seasonal service on the A/C system and assess the work performed by other A/C contractors over the last 2 years. I have had issues with return air and needed another opinion. On the phone John was very friendly and made you feel at ease. He did his best to provide an appointment that was timely and convenient. However, this was not the hottest time of year so I expect as the temperature increases so will the number of service calls. Given my experience I am confident Deane Electric & A/C will do their best to respond as quickly as they can based on the triage level of the call (not working verses needs a check-up).

.They were very prompt and professional. They came right on time. John Deane is the name of the owner. Another person who came out from this company blew out and cleaned out the air-conditioner for me and I feel they were better than what I expected. I will use this provider in the future.

My husband said the guy was great. He was on time, courteous and didn't try to rip us off and answered all of his questions. The price was definitely reasonable for the quality of work that we received. He also works on weekends which is wonderful!

I called John from Deane Electric and A/C on 6/29/11 at 5pm, telling him that I had a unit in a duplex that was struggling to keep up in the heat. I said that I was going over to take a look that evening, but I was wondering how soon he could get someone to take a look, if I couldn't fix it myself. He said tomorrow afternoon (6/30/11). I called him at 8am on 6/30/11 to tell him I needed help. In less than an hour, Tim showed up, and less than an hour later both units at the duplex had been checked out and cleaned! The one that was struggling turned out to be low on refridgerant. Service and response could not possibly have been better. The price was acceptable, especially considering the quick service.

It is vary rare that I would miss an appointment. Would have been easier to call me to reschedule rather than post a scathing report. My apologies for our mistake. I receive so many phone calls and perform several estimates as well as service calls on a daily basis. It is very difficult to be perfect. We try though. If I am performing work for a customer, that customer gets my full attention . I treat every customer as if they were my first. This commitment to the current customer may sometimes cause me to fall behind in my scheduling/work load. I give my best estimation of when I can be at the next appointment, but it is not an exact science.

We had some problems which is most likely par for the course on a job of this size. The problems were overcome and corrected. It was more a problem of communication on the schedule than anything else. The most important thing is that John is available and willing to do what needs to be done.
Description of Work: Replaced four HVAC units, installed four Nest thermostats, this took a lot of expertise on John's part as he needed to do some research as these thermostats were cutting edge. John has become more than my HVAC guy but a friend.

The home with the A/C problem is a second home for me...not occupied 100% of the time. We don't run the A/C continually due to cost concerns, and it's thus harder on the unit to bring the inside temp down when we turn it on in the middle of a particularly hot day. On the day of a/c failure (middle of a 25-day triple-digit heatwave), the house was 94 degrees when we arrived at 8 pm for the weekend and activated the unit. I set the thermostat on 78, and it had brought the temp down to mid-80s and continued to run after we went to bed around midnite. At 3:30 am, I awoke and noted the unit was still running and seemed awfully loud...had cooled to 80 degrees, though. At 4:30, I woke up smelling strong scent of electrical wires burning...unit was off, the tile floor directly in front of the return air vent below the inside component was very cold, and the thermostat read 79 degrees...still shy of the setting made the evening prior. I switched off the breakers and went back to bed until morning. We went to our primary home the next day, and I did a service provider search early Monday. After checking out Angie's list, it was obvious to me that the predominant choice was Deane Electric and Air Conditioning because of 8 reviews - all highly complementary. The listings with customer reviews for this category was skimpy, and I had no experience with Deane Electric - only with one other provider in the Lake Belton service area who had not performed well for me previously. So, I asked for referrals from my coworkers, and one other company name was offered...however, they had no Angie's list history. I also serve on the Board for our regional Better Business Bureau service area, so I verified that both Deane Electric and the other recommended company had superior ratings on the BBB site, which is important to me. The raving Angie's List reviews for Deane Electric were persuasive, but mostly I chose Deane Electric because the remembrance of those wires burning troubled me greatly, especially since the house is not occupied 100% of the time. I was comforted by the fact that Deane Electric and Air Conditioning is both experienced and licensed in these TWO areas. I called the company midday on Monday, August 16th. John Deane himself answered the phone...sounded very friendly and congenial - not surly or distracted like some service providers sound when struggling to field calls and service customers at the same time. John told me that the Lake Belton/Moffat area is not where he tends to spend the most time...he typically works more in the Killeen area and even north of Austin. He asked me first if everyone in the house was comfortable and safe with the severe heat...when I told him we had alternate housing during the unit outage, he asked if I'd be ok if he worked my call in to his schedule during the week to make most efficient use of his time. I told him I needed service restored by Thursday, the 19th, and he assured me he'd definitely get me a/c by that date...perhaps earlier, but Thursday am looked best for his planning purposes. Because I have a heavy work and meeting schedule and because of John's easy and professional manner on the phone, I felt confident enough to ask if I could make provision for him to service my home without me there. (I do have good neighbors who constantly watch things for me.) John was agreeable, and he took my cell and direct work numbers for communication during the service call later in the week. To my surprise, John called my office the very next afternoon around 2:30 pm saying he could actually service my unit that same day. I was in meetings in another city, but he went to my home and repaired the unit and then both texted and VM'd me to let me know he'd been there and to describe the scope and final cost. We made payment arrangements via phone and text, as well...I'm not saying John would do that for everyone, but he knew where I lived and worked and that I was also trusting of him to enter my home without me which speaks to overall trust factors and rapport and comfort level between servicer and customer. I could not be more pleased with John Deane and his service. His price was fair...it's a long way to my residence, taking at least an hour travel time to get there and back, plus he had the time on the job. He thoroughly checked my unit - both inside and outside components - and stayed there a good 15-20 minutes to ensure it was working and cooling appropriately after repair. We talked the next day, as well, to make sure there were no subsequent issues. John told me "I take especially good care of my Angie's List customers", and I believe him! Not only did John do the work I asked, but I also asked his honest opinion about my unit and it's remaining useful life. He did not bring this up at all...I did. But, he was bluntly honest in his reply, saying I had probably the cheapest unit made in my home and that I should have reasonable expectation that it would begin to give me problems in the near future, though it's only 9 years old. This was not news to me, as the house had been renovated to sell at least-cost in some areas, and I appreciated his honest assessment. I also have some wiring changes I'd like to make (fixture placement, etc) which will involve attic access when it's cooler...John said he's got a masters license in both electric and a/c, and I will definitely call him when I want to have more work done. I'm also very pleased that I've found someone I can trust - licensed, bonded, BBB-rated, etc - that I don't have to "babysit" when I'm needed at work. John Deane did everything he promised - professionally and 2 days earlier! I am delighted!
Description of Work: John Deane of Deane Electric and Air Conditioning personally inspected, evaluated and repaired my central air unit, replacing the capacitor and assuring me all wiring was indeed safe for continued operation (important especially because I'd smelled electrical wires burning at the time of unit failure.)

The owner (Mr. Deane) sets the tone of a company and he is a very respectful, friendly, professional individual! I was very pleased with the services.
Description of Work: I took advantage of Angie's List Big Deal and had my air conditioning unit inspected and cleaned. Mr. Deane took the time to explain to me the things I needed to do for maintenance of my A/C unit. (I have lived in climates before where I didn't have an outdoor unit). He spent a significant amount of time considering that it was a reduced rate for the service. He also gave me a quote on a new unit (I already knew mine is too small for the size of the house and his quote was extremely reasonable). I look forward to working with him to replace my unit with a more energy efficient one. I also had Mr. Deane and his employees upgrade my HVAC system in August because the one I had was too small for my house and because of the tax credit this year. The company continued to display the professionalism I had seen earlier. In addition, I had obtained several bids for this type of work and Deane Electric was, by far, the more reasonable price.

This service was excellent. I have a newer AC unit so not much needed fixing. However, John proceeded to stay and explain to me in detail about efficiency issues in my house and potential solutions that I could do my self or hire someone. Basically, he went above and beyond, and now I understand my house's heating and cooling efficiency issues much better. He is a genuinely nice guy and will be sure that his work is accurate and careful.

I contacted Deane because of a half-price promotion through Angie's List. I've lived in this house 5 years and, except early on when a fan motor burned out, I'd never had an AC person come and check out the unit. When I called on Friday, I was told the serviceman (John) could schedule me Tuesday. I said that was fine and asked what time I could expect him, since I work and would have to take time off. She said between 10 and 11 a.m. So, on Tuesday, I waited and no one came between 10 and 11 or between 11 and 12 or between 12 and 1 -- you get the picture. I'm aware that things can come up that delay scheduled appointments, but if there is to be a significant delay, a simple phone call can mitigate the damage. About 1:15 or so, I called Deane and got voice mail. I left a message and my call was returned almost immediately. It was John Deane, apologizing for the mix-up. He said his schedule indicated he wasn't expected until after 4. I said that wouldn't work and he offered to come over as soon as he finished the job he was doing in Georgetown. Finally, In another hour or so, he showed up, apologized again, then set to work inspecting the units. He is very engaging and kept a line of constant conversation going, explaining what he was doing as he went along. Everything checked out fine, but he took time to flush out the drain line and clean the housing of the outside unit. Other than the scheduling snafu, I was very pleased with my experience.

Deane electric never fails to impress me. I was not only connected directly to the owner of the company, John, when I called in a service order, but he actually took time out of his busy day to come out to my house himself. They are always professional, but friendly at the same time, making you feel comfortable with them in your house. After some investigating it was found that not only was my air conditioner too small for my house, but the compressor was completely shot. Not a good diagnosis in the middle of a Texas summer! John was very sympathetic to our situation, and offered many solutions to the problem, even several that did not include his company. It was clear from the beginning that he was more concerned with the comfort, and needs of my family that he was with making a profit. After much deliberation it was decided that we needed to invest in a new unit, and Deane electric was ready to help. They were there when we needed them, and just as friendly as ever. We got a new system installed for a wonderful price, and they were quick in getting it installed and getting my house cooled back off for us. I would recommend their services over and over again, and will never use another AC/ Heating company. I am sure that you will be just as impressed with their service, and kindness as we have been.

I called the numbewr that is listed here on Angie's list at about 7:30 this morning, and spoke to the owner of the company. Once I told him the problem he asked me to give him about 20 minutes, and he would get his technician out here right away. He understood that I had kids in the house, and it was freezing. Sure enough 20 minutes later a technician arrived. He was friendly, and professional, and anwered any questions that we had. He did all the little repairs that we needed, ran to lowes to buy us a new thermostat that we really needed, and wanted. On top of everything he only charged my for the thermostat that he purchased for me. I plan to use their services for any electrical, or heating and cooling needs that I might have.
Description of Work: My AC/Heating unit was completely freezing up. Nothing but ice inside and out on all the pipes, and heating elements. Everything was tested, some wires were replaced, and the technician even ran to lowes, and purchased me a really nice digital, programmable thermostat that was more suitable to my system, and my needs.

It went GREAT! The original estimate was $250.00. When the repairman arrived, he inspected everything and said it would be $140 for everything, which also included replacing the smoke detector. Turns out that the AC coil only needed a vac and brush instead of the more expensive removal of the condensor coil from the house and a pressure wash. With what I know about AC's, they could have easily told me the more expensive procedures. He checked the Alarm Smoke Detector, and replaced it in 10 minutes along with repairing the drainline. All of the work was completed in less than an hour and there wasn't a single bit of mess. Talk about a professional company!

I called Deane Electric to arrange for a service call, and he had me describe what the problem was. He described the most likely reason for the fault, and had me check one small thing, which corrected the fault, at no charge. When I described another issue, he again recommended a different, cheaper, solution, that resulted in no payments to his company. Very professional, and made no attempt to exploit me as a consumer!
