Received an estimate on a new HVAC unit and Water Heater. The water heater was for a 50 gallon but what i currently have is a 40 gallon so I don’t understand why I was being sold on a larger water heater. Additionally the square footage of my house is 2,299 and I was being sold on a 5 ton HVAC unit when all I needed was either a 3.5 or 4 ton. The technician was a nice guy but I don’t understand why I was being sold on units larger than needed.

His attention to detail and general demeanor were much appreciated in what turned into a much bigger and more stressful project.

Richard the technician was professional, friendly, and personable, and arrived with the time window specified.. The Spring HVAC inspection went quickly and smoothly with no problems other than noting air ducts that need cleaning.

troubleshooting AC that was not cooling correctly

Mitch gave us a repair quote and a replace quote. He was happy to do either and gave us some awesome options for new equipment. We have a home business and 5 dogs. The air quality could stand some serious improvement and we are looking forward to the American Standard system with air purifier and electronic filter. I researched installations in our area and found the price competitive, but more importantly, Berkeys is most highly rated for reliable follow up and a quality installation.

I called to inquire about having two air conditioning filters replaced. I had the filters but just needed them installed. They told me the installation would cost me $69. Although I thought that cost was a little too high, I agreed and set up an appointment time. I printed an Angies List coupon worth $55, but when I inquired about the coupon, I was told that it was not valid for changing air filters nor was it valid for dispatch fees. After making the appointment, I received a call back from the company informing me that I would have to join their membership club in order to qualify for the $69 quote. When I asked how much the membership fee was, I was told it was $199! I immediately canceled the appointment for later that day. What a rip-off! I will never use Berkeys for any of my air conditioning needs!

This company hires really smart techs and they do a wonderful job. Tran came today and he is so smart that I know my system is running at peak performance. Last summer they diagnosed some leaks which had caused poor performance. I cannot recommend this firm highly enough!

Mitch was fantastic. Arrived during scheduled window, was very professional and courteous and took the time to explain everything in detail. Service was part of HVAC membership which includes yearly AC tune up. Mitch also checked the furnace and discussed future service needs. Would request Mitch again for any HVAC service needs.

On Saturday, 3 Feb 18, I called to get an estimate on installing a garbage disposal that I had already purchased. I was told there were two options. First, a technician would come out and give an estimate but a service fee of $69 would be charged. Second, I could purchase a membership for $99 which included a break on the installation and a free plumbing inspection. A couple of things here. First, why would I pay someone a service call to come out and give me an estimate only to not have them do the work if the installation cost was higher than other companies?, Second, why would pay for a membership to just get a garbage disposal installed? The question is similar to to the first. I just needed an estimate to compare costs of services provided by similar companies. An estimate is something asked to find out how much SOMETHING might cost so a decision can be made on whether or not to use a service. I am not going to pay for a service call or a membership to get an estimate. Berkeley's needs to reconsider their options. I won't be calling them for my plumbing needs.
