I liked what Cote's Mechanical did. He was very friendly and he was able to fix the issue.

They came, they saw, they fixed -- they ordered a part and updated me until it arrived, and came back and installed it.

They are nice and professional. Some of the younger technicians are not as savvy as of yet, but are always hard workers. For example, one of the younger men said that one thing was wrong on my HVAC and it would take a week + to get the part in. Then, another worker came to double check since I was upset about the wait and discovered there was nothing wrong with the part; the problem was a clog. The best technician is Craig. He is professional and knowledgeable.

Our AC stopped working right before a heat wave was suppose to hit. Our home warranty company recommended COTES Mechanical. They sent a tech to our home in 24 hours. Young with little experience. He gazed at the outside AC unit for a bit then after replacing one component he walked upstair to check out the upstairs unit. NEVER opening the unit he just stared and said...There ya go! Give it a couple days to get the house to temp! A COUPLE DAYS???? I called a new company and they repaired the unit immediately and I had a cool home in an hour! If COTES would have opened the upstairs unit they would have found it froze due to a Freon leak! On an almost possitive note, the dote did look in the attic at our UV light system and saw it was burnt out. He took the bulb and claimed he would order the part and have it back to me in a few days. That did not happen quickly.....6 phone calls and 19 days later I finally received the part. And like a fool I pre-paid for the part. Do not use this company. A waste of time and money

When we woke up Friday morning, water was dripping out of the ceiling fan. I knew it was from the AC unit in the attic and got on Angie's List to look for a repair company. I decided on Cote's and they promised to be out the same afternoon. The tech arrived within the timeframe and completed the work promptly.

It was a mixed bag overall.

This company is run by a father (Foster) and son (Cote) team, and Foster came out and did the estimate for a new HVAC system for our 1930's cottage home. He talked about how they are one of the few installers with a class A license, etc etc. Very savvy sales pitch, and very aggressive (yet friendly). We negotiated the estimates down from $10K (for dual-zone fancy setup) to about $7K, which ended up being about $5K after local Denton and federal rebates. We also turned down the off-brand unit they pushed in favor of the Bryant Legacy unit that we requested. They acquiesced and agreed to put it in. So far these guys seemed super professional and completely awesome. The initial install was quick, but the installation team was quite young and didn't include Foster or Cote. Right off the bat, the heater didn't work after installation, because they forgot to turn on a dip switch in the unit. No biggie. Also, the off-brand touchscreen thermostat was junk, so we replaced it with our existing energy-star unit. But next, the city inspector came out and wrote up a series of failures. #1 - they ran the primary condensate to our main cast iron sewage drain via a hacked, unsealed hole (already existing, but still a bad idea). http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5522/primarycondensatedraintd.jpg #2 - the secondary condensate was run outside to the rain gutter, but code says it has to go to the ground to a dry well packed with rocks. #3 - they didn't install a catwalk under the unit, for safe access to maintain the unit. After several more visits, Cote's corrected all those things. However, the catwalk for #3 was haphazardly built, with nails sticking up and shoddy alignment. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/7357/p1020406a.jpg They came out and trimmed the catwalk boards, removed the nails, and I thought all was well. And then I noticed where the boards came from -- our roof supports. They sawed out some supporting 2 X 4's, didn't replace them, and now our roof sags in that location. At this point, I'm just to frustrated to continue trying to work with them. We also just hoped the AC would work great despite the installation problems. It does work well, but it isn't consistent across this small house. Our bedroom is consistently about 8 degrees hotter than the rest of the house during the summer, after the installation. I had Steve Eiler (highly recommended) from Sanger Air & Electrical come out and estimate the problem. Steve points out that Cote's team installed an undersized HVAC plenum, ran excessively long flex ducts, and overall did an unprofessional job. Cost estimate to repair the duct runs and undersized plenum? $1500. Despite the endless problems with Cote's, I will say they got the local rebate done just fine, so that $500 back was nice. But I would never hire this company, again, ever. I thought I was paying for quality, and I was flat wrong.

Each time I have used Cote's, I have gotten pleasant, prompt service. Their charges are reasonable, and they give suggestions for improvement without trying to force additional services. They clean up after themselves (accessing equipment in the attic), and go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. For example, when my thermostat was determined to be faulty, they replaced it immediately; however, the thermostat on the truck was not a lesser-quality model than the one that failed. Cote's returned the next day with the correct thermostat and replaced the otherwise brand new item at no charge. In addition, their office folk are pleasant and helpful and provide excellent status updates, for example when a part must be ordered.

One saturday my heat pump came on and had a power surge and blew a capacitator and it melted and the voltage traveled through the thermostat wires and caught the thermostat unit on fire. Called the warranty company and they contacted Cote's Mechanical and they came out at 8am that same morning and got the emergency heat back on because I have my parents with me and and it was quite cold. Got everything settled with insurance and I called Cote's Mechanical on Thursday evening and told them to come and replace the units inside and outside and they was here at 8 am the next morning and had 6 people here and had it done and running at noon. I was amazed at how fast and professional install that they did for me. Thank you very much to everyone at Cote's Mechanical. David

They were to fix my air conditioning, but the job was not done. They were very friendly, but did not do the job right and were not very honest about what needed to be done. They were quoting me on things that did not need to be fixed.
