USAA Bank

We have been proudly affiliated with USAA since 1952. They have our home ,auto, and personal property. I was leery about doing business by phone and email, but there has never been a problem. I have listened to other stories from friends saying how frustrating it is to deal with their out of state bankers. My emails, as well as phone calls, are dealt with promptly and cordially. Check out their ratings in Consumers. We have not used them for mortgages.

I saved about $300 after I switched to them. They were also much nicer to deal with. They also don't charge fees for checking accounts.

They're not local. They usually have online services. In general they're excellent, super helpful, responsive, and always really nice on the phone. We use them for banking for our mortgage services, for insurance, in name that we use from privating which can't be possibly channel of purchase, so good in everything. I would just say their customer service in general is top notched.

I have been a USAA member since 1958. I have found the company to be very responsive to my needs. In any case where I have had to call for assistance the customer service has been outstanding.

It went VERY WELL!!! I spoke to Kathy Cook, who was kind, patient, and answered all of my questions with ease and professionalism; I would refer others to Foremost for insurance on their mobile homes and/or manufactured homes, I am, in fact, going to go through them to purchase my insurance, as they beat my current coverage by over $280 a year.

It's difficult to rate USAA overall because some of their customer service, products and prices are superior, while the mortgage process and experience I had was horrible. So I am choosing to make this current rating based on my recent mortgage experience. I will probably make another rating for the other USAA services I use and really appreciate, just to be fair. It took almost five months to get my loan approved. Initially I was given a "pre-approval" that, in my opinion, should have been a bit more discerning, because in hindsight it seemed like a rubber stamp. I clearly pointed out in my pre-approval documents that I have multiple rental properties. This became I huge issue when I actually went to apply for the loan and get it through underwriting. The instructions and process I was given were often unclear and insufficient. Every time I did the paperwork I was asked to do, there would be something else the underwriter required. Instead of reviewing the entire file and making a list of all the items I needed to send, apparently the underwriter would find the first thing wrong and send it back to the processor I was working with. This went on for weeks. I would complete the document I was asked for, send it in, wait days or a week for a underwriter's response, which always came back with something else that was wrong or missing. Horrible customer service! Their claims of "being extremely busy" were just serving to make me angry. They should hire more people when demand exceeds available resources. Common business sense. I lost my contract on the house due to USAA delays. Fortunately however, the house was still on the market when the loan approval finally went through, and the seller agreed to a new contract. I am surprised the seller did so, after the experience they had with me trying to obtain a loan. I should note that I have a very good credit rating, but my debt ratio is somewhat high due to several rental properties where the rental income doesn't quite cover the mortgage plus all the other expenses. I still have auto and homeowner's insurance with USAA, my banking, a consumer loan and a credit card, because in these areas they cannot be beat - and I do shop prices fairly often on insurance and bank fees. However as far as mortgages go, I will not go through USAA again unless there are some major changes made to their mortgage processing. I provided feedback on the mortgage process so they can work to improve it.

It all goes very well! They are an amazing company with which to work. Can't say enough good things about the company and its employees. the company is always fair in our claims. And the employees are professional, courteous and friendly. It makes me very proud that there is a company that truly does serve our veterans as they should be served after they have pledged their lives to our freedom. We love USAA and it's employees.

USAA has abandoned it mission of being an elite insurance company serving the special needs of military officers, and is now just another money-grubbing insurance company run to maximize profits. UGLY

I make deposits at home on my computer or with my cell phone. I can use any ATM machine anywhere. They are always courteous and friendly. They answer questions accurately.

I cannot express how amazing this company is. I use them for every possible product I can. They never seize to provide the best customer service experience and have competitive pricing. Nothing else I can say then I LOVE this company.

I've been with USAA for more than 10 years I do all my insurance and other services through USAA if you are a Veteran it is definitely worth your while to investigate their services.

USAA offers insurance for both real and personal property, as well as vehicles. The best prices may come by bundling all your policies. When I joined, their client base was limited to armed forces officers; it's now expanded greatly, to enlisted and family members, and veterans. If you are eligible, give USAA a call! Their size (nationwide and then some) has allowed them to put together a network of repair opportunities; in no case, has the repair company recommended by USAA failed to meet the highest expectations. My most recent vehicle damage claim happened out of town; I was directed by USAA to a company I'd never heard of, much less dealt with. My repairs were performed in an expeditious and timely manner; the repairs are guaranteed by USAA, and if something goes wrong, I don't have to drive back to that shop--I can take it to any USAA-recommended shop in my home town. With personal property claims, they have been spectacular. I have only had a three of such claims over the years, but in all cases, USAA performance was typical--prompt, courteous, minimum of complications. My policy provides for full replacement cost--so a stolen 12-year-old sewing machine was eligible for replacement by a comparable this-year model. A computer that got "surge-fried" was replaced immediately (USAA worked directly with the local repair provider). Nowadays, USAA will deposit the payments directly into my bank accounts. Service is invariably responsive and prompt. Their on-line service is excellent; I can review my policies, play "what-if" games in changing my coverage, review my bills, and print out my proof-of-insurance cards, among many other things.

I have had a great experience with them. I love them. I like everything dealing with them. Everything I have ever asked them they have had good answers for it and they have always been very helpful. The only thing they charge us for is like the car insurance and Homeowner Insurance, but there are no banking fees, and we actually get reimbursed for ATMs too. We have checking, saving and credit card with them.

In February 2013 a week before closing I get a call that they were not going to refi due to my property being a farm, "they don't do those any more" and I reminded them that yes they do, they currently hold my mortgage. After asking for a supervisor and being hung up on, I finally got one, who informed me that they had stopped financing farms. WHAT! Anyway this was a terrible experience, the first one with USAA, just dreadful, I was so upset that I began moving car, banking, home owners insusrance, everything out of USAA, I am that mad and I have been a loyal customer for a long time. Every time I move something they ask what they could do and I tell them, give me the refi you committed to and then asked surprised that I am a farm!!!!! hello, you have my mortgage, it isn't like this is a surprise. From the first day you had my income tax statements that show I am an income producing farm. Not good. Very disappointing from a company that I expect much better and have always gotten until the past year.

USAA I deal with them almost daily. They do outstanding service. They are extremely fair. Their prices very, very competitive. I have no reason to go any place else for insurance, investing or banking.

What a pleasure I had working with USAA. Every time I call, I get a different agent and they have all been top notch! I received really good advice, prompt service and the cost of the policies was much less than my last insurance company. The website is very helpful and easy to use. I highly recommend USAA.

They were convenient and always did a good job. The staff were amazing. Their price was reasonable. We will use them again in the future.

Estimate was reasonable but I didn't need all those services

They erroneously listed my account as charged off when I am still making payments. They told me that they had an internal billing procedure and that even though I am making payments per my contract they were not going to correct the error. Seems insane, right? Unfortunately, they don't tell you they will do things like this if you negotiate to lower your rate. They "charged off" an account that was not supposed to be charged off and then claimed that they could do so and that I did not owe the money. (HUH???) I am still paying the money. Just really incredibly insensitive and not upfront at all.

Wonderful. From the person answering the phone to the person performing the follow-up I couldn't be more pleased with the service so far. I called several times when shopping for insurance on our new house, and the USAA folks were always incredibly polite,well informed, and easy to understand. While other companies cost less, I wasn't near as impressed with their service as I was with USAA. I haven't had to make a claim yet, but feel secure in my decision to go with them.

It was a very windy day and when I parked my car and opened the door, the wind blew my driver door into the car next to me. It slammed into the car next tp me and dented the door.. I talked to the USAA agent and they told me it should be covered under comprehension and not subject to a deductible. When the final report was complete that was changed to a collision with another vehicle. Which I questioned since both vehicles were stationary and it was due to an act of nature.. So I was very disapointted in USAA. Not sure yet if my premiums will go up. Also disappointed in Home owner's deductible being 2% of the FMV for any wind damage, doesn't even have to be a named storm like other companies.

I have been a customer of USAA's for more than 20 yrs. They carry my auto and homeowners' ins., plus at various times, I've had CDs and IRAs with them. While the quality of those services has been very high, the mortgage refi process with them has been a nightmare. I sent in my completed initial refi loan packet to their processing center, which is supposed to scan in all the docs. so that the processors can have access to them. They apparently lost my docs. twice. Moreover, I have had to send in addl. docs. repeatedly. Some of these make sense - many of them are ridiculous and excessive. I have gotten to the point of telling them that either they make the loan or they don't, but I'm done. Also, I had problems with the responsiveness of my initial processor and had to request a new one. I had heard that the refi process can be very stressful. Given the real estate lending scandals of the past few years, I knew that banks were being more careful and I applaud that, but I will never use USAA again for ANY mortgage service!

I don’t have to go through the hassles that I would with some of the other banks. I don’t have to produce as many documents and references. USAA is really easy to work with. They are very responsive. I would definitely continue to use them in the future.
