The Lawn Sprinkler Guy

Quick once-over. Little benefit, other than learning what needs to be done.

I ordered the Angie's Big Deal for "Lawn Sprinkler Tune-Up & Full System Inspection" at a price of $49. After ordering, I called the company immediately to schedule an appointment (April 10th). They didn't have an appointment available until a month later. When the appointment date finally arrived, Mr. Flores called to say that since it had been raining he would not be able to conduct the service. He told me his wife would call and reschedule. The rescheduled appointment was for the following month (we're now two months into this and almost halfway through watering season). When he finally showed for the second appointment, he was there for only 5 minutes. He turned on the system, and I showed him where there were broken sprinkler heads. He stated that he didn't realize work would actually need to be done, and stated that he would have to come back to do the work since he had 8 other appointments scheduled after mine. He also told me it would cost $225 to fix the four sprinkler heads, and that his wife would call to set up another appointment. The next appointment was set for the following month of July (three months after I had order the Angie's Big Deal). After taking off two mornings from work (without anything accomplished), I had a family member drive into town (from 45 minutes away) to be available for the final completion of work (as I could not miss anymore work). Mr. Flores called my family member that morning (after they had driven to my house) to advise that his back hurt and he would not be able to make the appointment. So three months into the process, nothing had been accomplished and watering season was nearing an end. My family member asked Mr. Flores for a refund of the $49 Big Deal coupon, and he said the $49 was just for him to come out and look at the system (not actually touching any of the sprinklers). After this poor experience, I gave up trying to mess with Mr. Flores and found someone to help me fix the sprinkler heads myself. It cost me less than $20 to do the entire project myself, which was less than half of what Mr. Flores charges just to look at the sprinklers. I will never use his services again, and warn others not to risk their time and money!

Great guy that was on time and did a few "extras" like repair an underground leak at a great price " since I am already here..." Would hire him in a heartbeat to do any irrigation work for me in the future.

He does real good work. He is very responsive. He did fix a control box I was having trouble with. I have had him out several times since then for some other jobs with excellent results. I am truly happy with all of the work has done.

All of this was done with complete professionalism and courtesy by John. He knows his trade. I am very please with his attitude, service, sprinkler knowledge, landscaping and grass in general. I learned a lot in just a short period of time but I will still have him service my system for LIFE! He is outstanding and a true positive teacher in his profession.I would recommend him to anyone who needs any type of sprinkler service, he is the best. Also would like to commend John's wife for her courteous and professional understanding in making the appointments for John. This is where the relationship begins. The dynamic duo! They're great!

He showed up on time. He was very professional and wasin and out in under 30 minutes, including the tyime to find and fix my two leaks. He only charged me for the parts which was about $15.00. I was extremely pleased. I definitely reccomend him.

I had paid for an Angie's Deal for sprinkler inspection. The owner was friendly, professional and punctual. I was at home during the inspection and when he arrived, he was very rushed and I did not get the feeling it was a thorough inspection. He did a once over and that's exactly what I paid for. He mentioned that I should really have the control box replaced because it was about to "go out" at which he immediately quoted a price of $220 for replacement. I took his word for it and told him I would consider in the next month or two and call him to replace (in order to get the money saved). Two weeks later, a sprinkler head and leak at the control area occured which had to be replaced by another company. I felt that the Lawn Sprinkler Guy should have caught during his inspection. Also, the other company said the control box looked and performed fine and did not need to be replaced in their opinion. Here it is a year later and the box is still working fine. There wasn't anything that Lawn Sprinkler Guy did over-the-top that was wrong, but I won't inclined to use him again or recommend him to anyone.

I purchased an Angie's List Deal for a complete sprinkler system inspection. I knew that repairs were needed and stated this to the owner when setting up the inspection appointment, so I understood the inspection to be the paid initial visit to identify problems for a repair estimate. The owner arrived ontime for the scheduled inspection. He appeared very professional, experienced and polite. He verbally identified damaged sprinkler heads and a zone that did not function properly. I asked whether the non-functioning zone could be moved to an extra zone on my controller box and the owner said that could be done to save the expense of a new controller box. The owner "guestimated" that the job could be done for between one and two hundred dollars. The owner said that the estimate would be completed in approximately two weeks. After at least several weeks of no contact, I called the owner who apologized and stated that he had sustained an injury that had slowed him down. He promised an estimate within a week. I received an email estimate from the owner's wife. The estimate was for between $675 and $825 which is significantly more than the "guestimate" and included items that the owner had not mentioned during the inspection--namely, two "weak zones." Because I don't even know what "weak zones are", I would certainly have asked him to explain during the inspection, so this came as a surprise. There was also an estimate for a new controller, even though we had specifically discussed keeping the one that I have and switching a non-functional zone to an extra one. There was no mention of this in the estimate. I promptly responded by email to seek clarification regarding the discrepancies. I also asked whether the owner would be able to revisit the estimate within a few days and--if I agreed to the revised estimate--whether the work could be completed within the next week. It has now been nearly a week and I have not heard back from the owner, not even to let me know that he could not meet my requested time-frame. The bottom line result: I spent $49.00 in good faith and received nothing in return for my money. I will now need to find another sprinkler repair business and pay a second time for the initial fee charged to make an onsite estimate. REGARDING LAWN GUY'S COMMENT THAT HE WOULD CALL ME...NEVER EVER HEARD FROM HIM AND MY VOICEMAIL WORKS JUST FINE.

As usual, excellent service. Service call reasonably priced. Quality of work has been great in the past. Will see if all is well after my assigned sprinkling day. John is personable, efficient and knowlegeable.

I bought a $49 big deal on Angie's List for a Lawn Sprinkler tune-up and Full System Inspection. John called me on the day of the appointment and said he had a cancellation and wanted to come earlier. That was great! I appreciated the call. He came to my home and thoroughly checked the controller and then checked each sprinkler head to make sure it was working correctly. He then showed me how to adjust the controller and the heads and how to remove/replace the heads should the need arise. He was very prompt and courteous and did an outstanding job. I will definitely call him again should I need service on my system! I would highly recommend him!

Great! I know nothing about a sprinkler system and would more than likely made any repairs he suggested. He was so honest, said my sprinkler system looked great, and had no recommendations for any further work.

The work was done efficiently and checked to see if the changes made actually improved the amount of lawn actually receiving water. Showed me all the changes made. The cost was $100 less than the quote because the work was not as extensive as anticipated. I would definitely use The Lawn Sprinkler Guy again and have recommended him to neighbors. They also used him and were very satisfied with his work.

My appointment was first of the day and John arrived a bit early, ready to get the repair underway. He went straight to work on the controller box (repalcing the old one) and explained everything to me as he was working. He next located the buried control valves/solenoids, using a sound detecting device, and, replaced all three valves. He then taught me how to use the control box, while setting the automatic features to match my watering restriction schedule. After that, he tested the system through all cycles and observed sprinkler performance around the house. The whole process lasted just over an hour. So far, I am completely happy with the work.

That day, I called to see when in the morning he would be here, and she never answered. Then I called the other number and got John. He said he was scheduled for the afternoon at my house. So I said I would wait. Then in the afternoon, the secretary called and said she mixed up the dates and it was really the next Tuesday...but, they were full till the end of the month. I said I couldn't wait that long and would find someone else. My neighbor, who I had recommended John to last year, had tried to contact John several times but never got a return call. He won't use John either anymore.

It was a $49 sprinkler tune up offer from Angie’s List. They were professional and polite. There was nothing that could have been better; their service was fine.

I was so comfortably with John after our first meeting I gave him access to our garage when I was on the way home to our second appointment. This guy rocks. John is a must have on your cell phone contact list.

John did an excellent job! I was so impressed with his knowledge and skills that I have already called him to repair a leak that erupted following the days of rain we had in May. Again he was prompt to come out to inspect and corrected the problem. I will use him exclusively to handle all my irrigation needs. Since he is very busy, I will be pro-active in scheduling him to check my system during the down seasons.
