I took 3 bids, all from Angie's List. The other 2 bids were for $3000 and $1300. I chose not the cheaper bid, as I was not confident of the crews training. When I asked, the answer sounded made up, and essentially they were all on-site trainees. Davey's had an extensive training program, in particular for the foreman, who had to go to regional training. This company is also a board certified arborist. The crew of 3 arrived on time at 8am and left after 6pm. They worked constantly, except for a 30 min lunch break. Everything was cleaned up, mulched, and sidewalks and driveway blown clean. They did an excellent job, and I will hire them again. I feel the price was very reasonable for the amount of work done. They left me, at my request a large pile of very nice mulch to spread in my beds.

They were early (!), very clearly knowledgeable. They had good equipment, including safety equipment, and worked very safely. They did not destroy anything, even though they were working among thick trees and removing a very large limb. They moved the bird feeders and hanging plants so they would not be damaged. They were done amazingly quickly. The man who had bid on the job came to see that the workers were there and doing their job. They painted the wound on the branch as they should, to prevent disease. We hated to lose the limb, but they did a great job, and it had to be done. Also, I had this company out to look at this limb a couple of years ago. They told me it was well supported and did not need work at the moment. For this reason, I called Davey when the limb had grown sufficiently that something needed to be done. They had been honest with me before, and they clearly had the tree's interest at heart.

The service was professionally performed. The trimmers knew how to correctly shape and trim oak trees and to seal the cut at the tree. The workers worked safely and took care not to damage the house with limbs and trees adjacent to it. They showed up on the day promised and completed the work in three days. All trimmings were properly removed from the property. They did a quality job.

The representative, Brian Cox was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was careful to explain that the charge for the work was taxable and to expect that my invoice would reflect that. He was also precisely on time for the appointment; which I always appreciate! The crew also was right on time to do the work and got right to it without any delay. They were neatly uniformed and seemed to really know their business. The clean up was very well done and they left everything looking great. I was most impressed and extremely pleased with this whole job and the people involved!

They did an excellent job and delivered excellent customer service from start to finish. They showed up within 10 minutes of the scheduled time to complete an estimate and then apologized for not being there exactly on time! They spent time listening to what I wanted and then making suggestions. The crew was exactly on time and did a complete job including the clean up. They were politely, efficient, and knew what they were doing. They may not be the least expensive, but they are honest. I had another estimate done and both that company and Davey were within $20 dollars of each other. The difference being is that I had to haggle the price from the other company, but Davey gave me their best price the first time. I will used them again.
