* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Hi! It’s good to hear from you again! The work you described above was completed in November, 2012. You also called us for further plumbing work last year (2013) in May. We appreciate you as a repeat customer! Thanks so much for trusting us with your plumbing repairs. Thanks very much, too, for your descriptive words: “They were on time, professional, and knowledgeable.” A quick review like this is all that’s needed to tell others about our Company, and we’re happy to know that you have called us again, and plan to call us in the future. I’ll be looking forward to your next call, Dixie Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, Inc. 210-698-9790 April 15, 2014

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Whew!! Was I ever relieved to talk to you on the phone, and learn that you were “satisfied,” and that our “plumbers were professional!” Thanks so much! It was good to hear that we weren’t lagging behind in getting your plumbing repairs taken care of. You stated that you wanted to get a second opinion, and I certainly understand that. I welcome your call, should you decide to use Texas Plumbing Diagnostics for your repairs. I have sent a copy of your credit card receipt this morning. I apologize for any delay in your receiving the receipt. Typically, my technicians note on our Invoice that the customer requires a copy of their receipt, to alert Office staff. We are sorry for any omission on our part. Thank you for saying that our Estimate seemed reasonable. On the phone, you stated that your biggest problem right now is dealing with the fact that these repairs must be done. Your neighbors have all had the same issues that you have had, and you realize that it is a problem at your home as well. I sympathize with my customers who have looming plumbing repairs such as yours. This job will require tunneling under your home, and you stated that your insurance would not cover the cost of repair. I encourage homeowners to check their insurance policies to determine whether they have coverage for broken drain pipes or pipes with root infiltration under the slab. Many policies will not cover this type of plumbing problem, but you can add coverage by discussing this with your insurance provider. If you do have insurance, we are more than happy to correspond with the insurance company and provide any documentation of diagnostics and repair that they require. We have a great deal of experience with plumbing repairs in a tunnel. You can be assured when you call Texas Plumbing Diagnostics that we will be ready to serve you for repairs requiring a tunnel, and we have all the expertise required to quickly remedy your problems with as little disturbance as possible to your ongoing life above the slab. Again, please call if I can be of further assistance in any way, Dixie Texas Plumbing Diagnostics 210-698-9790 April 15, 2014

Called company around 8 a.m, and received a same day appointment for 11 a.m. Technician called me and advised me he was running a little behind, and arrived at the time he stated that he would. He quickly assessed the problem, provided a written price quote, and immediately went to work. Within minutes, water through the previously backed up sewer line was flowing smoothly. All three technicians from Texas Plumbing Diagnostics were very courteous and respectful. I will definitely call Texas Plumbing Diagnostics again for any future plumbing needs.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I appreciate our customers who give details such as you did. Your words tell other Angie's List members that we respond as quickly as we are able. In your case, we were able to set an appointment the same day. You also let members know that we are responsive to your needs and communicate with you when we are held up for any reason. I know that our technicians' diagnostic skills are highly developed, but when you say that, "He quickly assessed the problem, provided a written price quote, and immediately went to work. Within minutes, water through the previously backed up sewer line was flowing smoothly," it paints a vivid picture for our future customers. I am deeply grateful that you "will definitely call Texas Plumbing Diagnostics again." Thank you so much! Received a phone call from TPD about 30 minutes after leaving a voicemail. I explained the problem and right up front I was told there would be a $149 service fee because it was the weekend. No problem, I expected as much. The tech, Angel, called me to let me know he was 25 - 30 minutes out from my house. Angel arrived on time and I showed him the area where the water was coming into the master bathroom. Angel figured out the issue right away and explained that he would have to cut thru the drywall on the back side of the shower to get to the water lines. He was spot on with his cutting and we immediately saw the pinhole in the copper tubing. Angel explained exactly what he was doing while making the repairs. He was very professional, courteous and a real pleasure to chat with. I will be using this company in the future to fix other non-emergency plumbing issues.

we did not hire the contractor
Description of Work: All we needed was gas run to our new furnace. The provider wanted to run a whole new line through the backyard(dig a trench, the whole nine yers, expected time = many weeks, expected prive 5,000 dollars). Called another company and had the line run from existing gas pipes up through a closet in my house for less than 400 dollars.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I am sorry to have to write this response, as I always wish to have a positive experience with my customers. The gentleman who wrote this review was not at the home while my technician was there. Our tech said a woman, perhaps the gentleman’s wife or girlfriend, met him at the home. This may have contributed to the customer’s misunderstanding, since some of the information was relayed orally. One area in which the customer misunderstood the proposed work is “many weeks” completion time – our technician informed the woman who was present onsite that we would need to schedule our trenching crew. This is usually accomplished within a week, and the work follows immediately. Also, some of the charges were for City-required code updates. If we perform gas work without upgrading the gas fixtures and connections in the home, the work will not pass City Inspection until those code upgrades are performed. Some of these items are safety issues, which include single-wall venting on his water heater. Code requires double-wall venting. Our technician, a Master Plumber, performed a gas test to check for leaks on the gas system. He determined that there were no leaks on the system. However, the gas line that the customer wanted us to connect to was inadequately sized to serve the gas demand that it would be carrying with the customer’s new furnace. According to online records, this house was built in 1926. The gas piping in the home was old, and there were numerous old connections under the home. Our tech suggested that a new gas line be run, due to the fact that the older piping under the home was difficult to access without digging a deep access channel, similar to a tunnel. As you can well imagine, this would be costly. Again, my technician determined that it was illegal and against City Code for us to connect to the inadequately sized line that was inside the home. Because this customer posted that he was able to get another contractor to connect to existing gas pipes, I have contacted the Chief Inspector of the City of San Antonio. We do not want to suggest work that is not required. The Code Enforcement Division will make a determination regarding the adequacy of the pipe size, and we will be in contact with them to ensure that we are correctly advising our customers as to their safety and adherence to applicable codes. If we were wrong in stating that the customer’s pipes were undersized to carry the gas load required by his furnace and other fixtures, I will refund the money he paid for the gas test plus an additional $100. However, I am not willing to put my Master Plumber’s license, my business, or my customers’ lives at risk at any time by performing improper gas connections or failing to follow City Codes. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Hi, and thanks for being so kind regarding my assistance to you. I'm much more comfortable raving about our superior plumbing technicians than speaking about myself, but I am certainly happy to know that I was "extremely helpful" to you. We're sure happy that we were able to take care of your gushing water problem. Since water is not free, and in our area, is also not plentiful, it's always prudent to get leaks taken care of right away. Charges for water use actually increase as the volume used increases. So, heavy water users (or those who are affected by water leaks) are penalized by SAWS. It is our recommendation that you always check for leaks, and call us if you have any questions or concerns that you may be losing water. Thanks again for calling Texas Plumbing Diagnostics! They first replied by email very promptly with an estimate on the job, then when we decided to use them the repairman was very prompt to the job and time and place. He did the work as agreed upon. I am only giving a C because of the price, it was very expensive, but compared to everyone else's bid, it was about the same, I guess. We were very impressed with the professionalism and the timely manner in which they responded, both to my first inquiry (via email, as we do not live in the state yet) and to making the appointment and showing up on time. WE have not been able to personally inspect the work, however our housesitter says she has better water pressure than she has ever had!

I called Friday morning ans was told they'd call me back after getting into the office. By 1500, I returned the call because no one called me back. I was told they were busy because of the frost and couldn't make an appt until Monday. I was notified about a half hour prior to arriving at my house and I met Angel and Fernando right on time. I was told the job will be no less than an hour, but could be more depending on what they found after exposing the pipe. They didn't mind my watching and asking questions and each question was answered and explained in understandable language. They were very pleasant to talk to and very professional. The job was completed in about 1.5 hrs and the price was fairly reasonable. I was very pleased with the rapid repair and would use them again, in addition to referring a client.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * We appreciate you, as a new customer, leaving this review. Thanks very much! Residents of San Antonio will find that most locations in the area have high water pressure. High water pressure is needed by the City in firefighting, especially in high-rise buildings. High water pressure is also necessary to pump water into the large water towers you have noticed dotting our City's hillsides. But, when that water pressure reaches your home, it can wreak havoc, damaging pipes and fixtures. You may also notice "water hammer," a loud clanging noise in pipes when you turn on a faucet. Water hammer is caused by water slamming back and forth in the pipes. If you have noticed this phenomenon in your plumbing, call Texas Plumbing Diagnostics ASAP to have your water pressure checked. Some homes have a builder-installed plastic pressure valve. These valves may be what professional plumbers call a "temporary valve;" they may last only a matter of months. We install a high-quality brass Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) manufactured by Watts. Whenever your plumbing does not meet code, and we, as licensed plumbers, work on a plumbing fixture, City Inspectors will require the plumbing for that fixture to be brought up to code. If your home in the City of San Antonio is even five years old, you may not meet some of the current Code requirements enacted in the last few years. Any time you have questions concerning City Code requirements, call Texas Plumbing Diagnostics. We'll be happy to discuss them with you. Thank you for mentioning that Texas Plumbing Diagnostics pulled your City permit with Universal City. In this case, someone from our Company must actually make a trip to the City offices, request the permit, pay for it, and then post it at the work site. I personally took care of obtaining your permit and delivering it to your home for posting. At this time, the inspection has also been scheduled with the City. Thank you for noticing our employee, David, who is indeed a veteran of the US Armed Forces. We are happy to support our veterans in this way. I appreciate your kind words: “Jed and Assistant Dave completed the job on schedule and within estimate. They were both professional and polite.” Thank you for letting other Angie’s List members know what they can expect when they hire our Company, Texas Plumbing Diagnostics! It was fine. I have no idea what they charged me for the service but it was probably reasonable. I had a positive experience with the people that came out and they actually showed me something that I could do myself, some real simple drilling a hole in the wall and putting in two PVC's through by myself to save me money. They installed everything but then there was some extra routing it out like an extra drain that I wanted them to do and they showed me how to do it instead of doing it and charging me for it basically.
Description of Work: I used Texas Plumbing Diagnostics probably in May or June of last year for putting in a water heater.

Our hot water heater went out on a Friday afternoon at 4:30pm. It started out as a beautiful day, but around 6:00pm a huge thunderstorm rolled in. It was a horrible, rainy, stormy night. The poor tech got drenched, worked until almost 9:30pm but got the job partially done. He was not able to finish doing what needed to be done (lighting is horrible back there and it was so dark & hard to see). We knew the plumbing wasn't up to code, but due to the lateness of the hour, he left us with hot water, and the promise to come back first thing Monday morning to get all the plumbing for it up to code. He had some questions about a couple of things, so he called the Master Plumber that evening to verify his concerns and get the right answer (rather than winging it and screwing something up). Monday morning he was here bright and early to finish up the job. The price was exactly what was quoted and we have had absolutely no problems with it since then. Dixie (in the office) is a treasure! She hung up really quickly with me, got their supplier to get the hot water heater ready for them to pick up, got it picked up and delivered over here, then called me back to let me know what was going on. It was closing time and she could have blown me off. But she didn't. I have recommended them to several people and would use them in a heartbeat if I needed something done. I
Description of Work: They came out and changed out our hot water heater for us. I honestly don't remember the date or the price. I know it was pricey but a lot of work had to be done to bring it up to code.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thank you, (removed member name). After reading your excellent report, I wanted to hire my technician all over again! Customers like you are so kind to report this type of detail regarding our technicians’ services. Many days come and go in the plumbing business, with all sorts of jobs presenting their unique challenges. What I find is that our techs often do difficult work under trying conditions, without complaining or even reporting their difficulties. Thank you also for mentioning that a water heater must be brought up to code when a licensed plumber works on or replaces a heater. In the last few years, several new code requirements have been put into place. These requirements generally have to do with health or safety updates, so we heartily recommend them, as well. I appreciate your kind words regarding my service to you. We count ourselves blessed to have the wonderful customer base that we have. People like you make our job a delight. Please call again, any time you have a need for plumbing services. And, if you refer a friend, please ask them to mention your name, so that I can properly thank you. I was well pleased with how this was done. I wasn't without water at any time other than approx. 4 hours while they finished the job making the last joint repair/replacement. They also put in two clean outs to this main waste water pipe to septic tank on both sides of my house for free. I've used them before this work was done and found them to be reasonable on prices, on time and they are now my plumber!! I would definitely recommend them highly.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * You are one of my favorite customers. We spoke several times during the course of your plumbing repair project, and you were always straightforward and informative. You were also clear about your expectations, and we at Texas Plumbing Diagnostics are excited to know that we met your expectations, and that you were “well pleased with how this was done.” (For other Angie’s List members, I will note that the project was not a $2 million project; this is a simple misplacement of the decimal point.) Sometimes, I get the pleasure of meeting my customers face-to-face, and I was glad I was able to meet you when I delivered the City permit for posting (as some cities require) on your front window. We are very happy to have you as a repeat customer, and I’ll be delighted to hear your voice on the other end of the phone line any time you should call. Thank you very much for posting this report on our Company, Texas Plumbing Diagnostics. Dixie January 23, 2014 Texas Plumbing Diagnostics 210-698-9790

Even though I had purchased $200 of service, I still ended up having to pay more for a fairly simple bath sink vanity install. I have since begun using another plumber and for the amount of service I've gotten for $200...I feel as if I did NOT receive a good value, especially since I had a MUCH more complicated vanity sink install in another bathroom and it cost me less than $200.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * First, let me say that I am sorry we were not able to please this customer. It is never our intention to leave our customers with a negative impression, and we were unaware that this customer was unhappy with our pricing. This work was performed on April 20, 2012. At that time, we offered a Big Deal, as stated above by the customer, at $99 for $200 worth of plumbing services. The customer signed our paperwork, authorizing both the work as stated and the price. The price charged is our standard price for a customer-supplied vanity install. Our technician also removed the faucet and pop-up assembly from her old sink at no extra charge and installed it on her new one. We are sorry that she now feels that the work we supplied was not a good value. We do not claim to be the cheapest plumbing company around; however, we are certainly not the most expensive. I'm happy to hear that the customer felt the quality of our work was an "A,” and that she has had no issues with the vanity installation. Our technician arrived on time to the appointment at 9:00 a.m. He is one of our best technicians, and is highly regarded by other customers. Since this customer did not explain her lower grades on responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism, I’m not sure why these grades were given. Any time a customer has a problem with our technicians or our service, we invite a call our Office. We are happy to discuss our work and charges, and we always want to know if our technicians are not meeting the customers’ needs. Angie’s List members should also know that, if you are not satisfied with the prices provided to you after purchasing a Big Deal, you can get a refund for the Big Deal. You are under absolutely no obligation to do business with a Company. We wish the writer of this review the best of luck with her new plumbing company, and appreciate her interest in our Company. Went very well. Jed's first trip out to inspect on Friday was to determine cause of a small leak under the kitchen sink. He spotted the problem quickly and said I'd need a new facet (demonstrated how and where the leaks was coming from). I purchased a new facet from Lowe's and rescheduled on Monday morning. Jed was back out to remove and replace the leaky facet that afternoon and had completed the work within one hour in a tough to get to location under the sink. Superb job and well worth the cost. This is the second time I've used Texas Plumbing Diagnostics since we moved here from Virginia two years ago (not an Angie's list member the first time). They were recommended by a new neighbor in August 2011 and I have not been disappointed!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thanks very much for your prompt posting of this review! We value highly your positive comments concerning our technician, Jed. We consider ourselves blessed to have Jed working with us. Thank you for letting other Angie's List customers know how well Jed takes care of our customers. I also appreciate your recognition of a difficult plumbing job. Tight spaces that are difficult to access definitely require the finesse earned by years of experience in plumbing. We once had a sad call from a customer who thought he could do his own plumbing repairs with a soldering torch in tight confines. He performed the work, left his home, and came back to a fire. He did not realize how dangerous a soldering torch is when in close proximity to wood. There is great wisdom in knowing the limitations of your plumbing skills. Thank you very much for your comments: "Superb job and well worth the cost." I also appreciate you giving us all "A"s, and nominating us for the Pages of Happiness. Thank you, too, for returning to Texas Plumbing Diagnostics for your plumbing repairs. Please know that we will be ready to serve you whenever the need arises. This company is highly professional, starting from the ladies who answer the phone to the wonderful plumber (Angel) who did the repairs. Angel thoroughly explained what he was doing and answered my questions while he was doing the fixing. They honored the warranty immediately because when my shower began to leak, Angel returned immediately fixed it in no time. There were no surprises, there was no vacillating, there was just absolute great service. I will definitely call them again for plumbing issues. I trust them completely.
Description of Work: Angel did multiple repairs on a property I had just purchased. The repairs were to the master bath shower and the water heater. He also installed a handle to our water supply. He fixed the water pressure going to the house.

We use them pretty frequently. They are pretty punctual and knowledgeable. They explain things to us. Sometimes they will give us an expensive fix for something that would probably cost less to replace the entire thing. Other than that, they are not always horrible. They have gotten more lax with trying to make it more money efficient over the years. We've used them for at least 3 years. They are pretty reliable. They are pretty responsive and open to working with us and trying to do the best thing for what we want for our home. Sometimes their prices are a little bit higher.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * We appreciate this customer’s interest in our Company. Since 2009, we have visited the customer’s address, under 3 different customer names, 9 times: Two of the visits were for drain stoppages; one at the softener line, and one at the kitchen. One visit was to install a customer-supplied disposal. One visit was to repair a copper line in the wall due to a leak. One visit was to repair a leak in an A/C drain. One visit was to replace an outside faucet. One visit was to replace a customer-supplied valve in the shower, install a cleanout and reroute the water softener drain. Two visits were for toilet repair; one was for a toilet rebuild for a toilet upstairs, and the other was for replacement of a fluidmaster and flapper in a downstairs toilet. I’m not sure which of these jobs the customer felt was an expensive fix that would have cost less to replace. Perhaps he would have preferred to replace a toilet rather than rebuild it. However, he was present when this work was done, and signed for the rebuild. He did not request a replacement. We do not determine the level of plumbing work to be done. That determination is for the customer to make. We are happy to do as much or as little work as the customer wishes. There are, of course, issues that demand work, such as code upgrades, but these repairs were not of that nature. I was happy to see that the customer feels our Company, Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, is “punctual and knowledgeable,” and that we “explain things.” We appreciate the “A” grades he gave us on quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism. When you, as a customer, hire a plumber, be sure to ask about all your options, so that you are satisfied with the results. An honest, knowledgeable plumber will be happy to answer your questions and give you his or her recommendations. Thanks again to this customer for calling Texas Plumbing Diagnostics! The gentleman were courteous & professional. The were knowledgeable of their field and did explain everything very clearly. Plus they did exactly what they said needed done.
Description of Work: We had a slab leak in the dining room. They had to find the other end of the pipe (pipe was in slab). Luckily they found it the first time. They sealed the each end of the pipe and re-routed 20 feet of new flexible pipe through the wall, through the ceiling and down the wall to the washing machine. They were here for approximately 5 hours.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Many thanks to this customer for posting his review of our Company, Texas Plumbing Diagnostics. Due to movement in the ground in San Antonio, we have lots of experience with slab leaks and water line reroutes, as well as tunneling for drain line repair. I appreciate so much your kind words regarding our technicians. We are so proud of the work that they do, and the high level of character and skills they possess. Your use of the words, “courteous and professional,” “knowledgeable of their field,” and, “did explain everything clearly,” along with the final statement of, “did exactly what they said needed done,” lets other Angie’s List members know what they can expect from our Company. Thank you so much, and, please … Call again any time we at Texas Plumbing Diagnostics may be of service. Dixie November 4, 2013

This trade was called out to diagnose a leaking water heater. It was determined that the unit had failed and that it needed to be replaced. An estimate was provided for a new water heater. Turns out that the water was still under warranty and the manufacturer AO Smith provided a new unit at no charge. When the work was completed the final bill was more than the original estimate even though I PROVIDED the water heater itself! In the end the final bill was $1,711 to replace a warrantied water heater!! The owner acknowledged the issue but still defending the ridiculous price as "normal" ultimately he charged $1,411 instead. Lo and behold my second water heater also failed 3 months later and I called a different company obviously after being fully bamboozled by this company and the final bill for replacing a warrantied water heater?? $596 after 10% Angie's list discount. I highly recommend against using this company ever. I understand slight pricing differences but a third less?? Terrible and expensive service!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * We did not install this customer’s original water heater; therefore, no warranty was processed with or through us. We are not a fit for all customers, and perhaps we should have turned this job down after our first free appointment, when our technician visited this customer’s home at no charge and gave him a free estimate. The technician informed the customer that the water heater appeared to be under warranty, and said that he should call the manufacturer to process a warranty claim. (We cannot do that for the customer.) The customer seemed to be fine while our technician was there, but called the technician immediately after he left the home and yelled at him, although he had given the customer free assistance and expertise, and alerted him to the fact that the heater was under warranty. Our technician directs all calls (as he has been instructed) to the Office. If the customer is not happy with our pricing or service, he should call our Office. The customer did call, someone in the Office went over the pricing with him, and he was all set for an installation the following day. We acknowledged that the charge for the heater itself was mistakenly included in the technician’s estimate (which was prepared before he realized the heater was under warranty), and removed the charge. What the customer doesn’t say about the replacement water heater is that we picked up the water heater for him at the parts house. Homeowners should be aware that water heater suppliers offer a limited warranty on heaters. This warranty does not include getting the new heater to the home, OR the plumber’s labor to remove the old water heater and install the new one. Homeowners should expect to incur these charges, along with code upgrade requirements enacted since the previous heater installation. The customer was unhappy that our labor was not free, although we did not install his original water heater. As stated above, only the heater itself is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, no matter who installs the heater. If a customer wishes to purchase an extended warranty from our Company, Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, we happily provide them. We have both three and six year warranties. This may be a service some homeowners would appreciate, if they are concerned that their water heater may fail. This customer’s heater was also out of code compliance. We are required by code to bring plumbing into compliance when we work on it. Therefore, this customer’s heater was required by code to have these items installed: 1) a new vacuum breaker; and, 2) a new sediment trap. New flex lines were also installed on the heater. We also charge for attic access, as two men are required to lift and remove the old heater. Many times, water heaters are extremely heavy due to minerals that accumulate in the heater. Our technician discounted the access charge for the customer. We do not perform any work without the customer’s approval. We have a customer signature showing approval of the work to be done, and the charges. We expect that a customer would not approve work to be done if he or she is not satisfied with the stated charges associated with the work. Many companies now refuse to work with warranty claims because of the possibility of customers who expect the plumbing company to absorb any costs associated with replacement of a heater under warranty from the manufacturer. We attempted to assist this customer with his warranty claim. He even called after the work was done, and his credit card had been charged, saying that he had a $25 coupon; although we are under no obligation to honor a coupon presented after the work is completed, we issued a $25 credit to his credit card. We are sorry he was not satisfied. Dixie Texas Plumbing Diagnostics November 4, 2013
