We choose Shaw Remodeling based on seeing them at the SA Home and Garden Show, and that they are a member of the San Antonio Building Association. We received two other quotes, and Shaw was in the middle. I visited the showroom on Starcrest, and made an appt for someone to come out and see our requirements. A sales rep came out, took measurements and contacted us to provide the quote. We signed the contract in mid January for $16,800 (the price includes 1 change order, and then we spent over $1200 on sinks, fixtures, and a shower system). After the pre-construction meeting, the work to start on 4 Feb 2013, with a schedule of 5 weeks given at that time (3 weeks of actual construction, with an additional 2 for the seamless glass door). The plumbing, light electrical work and tiling were completed in 3 weeks, but then the waiting began. We actually go the glass installed on 26th March, and at that time our bathroom could be used, but was still awaiting final repairs before the job was completed. The good things: Shower and tiling done was exceptional. The tiing subcontractor did a great job, but would have finished the job much sooner if he someone working with him. Seamless glass makes the shower, and was worth the delay. Plumbing and Electrical work was great. Easily connected our shower system, and did such a great job that when the Countertops were reset (see below), I was able to hook up the plumbing myself. All sub-contractors were neat, and took great care of my property. Carpet protector was used, and all work was cleaned up at the end of the day. The not so good things: Change orders not submitted to us in a timely fashion, and office staff not responsive to e-mails. When my wife picked out tile for the bathroom in January, the flooring tile was over $30 a square foot. She was not told this at the design meeting, and we did not know the cost until 4 weeks after the design meeting, so needless to say, we choose something else. It even took 2 weeks and an e-mail to get my paid in full receipt. Vanities were a custom size, but were not of custom quality. Several things had to be corrected that I have listed below, which took an additional 6 weeks. Countertop on top of the "his" vanity had to be reset, as it was not installed correctly. The difference was an inch between each side, and was very noticeable. The work was finally completed on the 8th of May, which included replacing a cracked vanity door and respraying the vanities to even out the finish, which gave a 13 week start to finish for this project. Before this, the inside of the medicine cabinets had to be refinished because of black overspray inside on light wood interiors of both cabinets. There were several false starts in getting this completed. The first e-mail said by the 19th of April, then a phone message from the construction manager was that it would actually be May 1st. This also did not happen, so after another e-mail, the work was finally completed on the 8th. The vanities are now acceptable, but it did take a lot of effort on my part to get them completed. Overall, the quality of work was good, with the cabinet work bringing the rating down from excellent. However, the communication with Shaw Remodeling as problems arose and the time it took from beginning to end (over 3 months) was way too long in my opinion.
Description of Work: We had our bathroom remodeled, which included a bathtub converted into new walk in shower, new tiling, new vanities and tops. We also had a new bathroom vent and light installed.

We met with the owner, Eric Shaw, at the local Home and Garden show a few months ago and scheduled time for him to come give us a quote. He was one of three companies we had quote the work. He came within a few days, on time. He spent time listening to what we wanted, giving suggestions, showing us pictures from other jobs for ideas and letting us know what issues we may need to consider. He then sat at the table and drew up a quote right then and there. It was lower than the other quotes we'd gotten, he gave us a reasonable timeline to start the work and to finish the work and explained the process and next steps. He advised us that we'd need to purchase the appliances before they started the work and that once the appliances arrived, he'd come back out with the project manager for our work to go through details with him/take measurements etc. In the mean time, we went to the showroom and selected/confirmed our stone and paint colors. Once we had the appliances, they came out to complete that part within a few days. They scheduled work to start the following week (a Thursday I believe) but the project manager (Juan) called us early in the week (that Monday) and said they could start the next day! They started on a Tuesday and completed the work in about 2 1/2 weeks. We hit one relatively major snag. We had selected a large natural stone and we had been told that the manufacturer made the same stone in a smaller size. We were only able to view the large stone in the showroom I believe. I selected the large stone for under our bar area and the smaller for the backsplash. They put all the backsplash stone up and then the larger stone and it was clear that the color of the backsplash stone was way off when you compared the two. We called the project manager (Juan) who looked again at the smaller stone and confirmed it was the stone we ordered in the same color as the larger pieces however, since it's natural stone, the batch we got was just way too muted. It wasn't even close to the same and Juan agreed with us. He and Eric worked with us and they replaced the entire backsplash at a reduced fee. Lesson learned on my end! Always review the product in person before it goes up! We had our cabinets painted white (from a natural oak finish). They took all the cabinet doors off and painted them at their shop. Juan suggested that we have them spray the paint on for a smoother finish but said the smell would be very strong. However, they did such a great job taping everything up (this was incredibly labor intensive work) and putting up the plastic to cover doorways that when we were in our living room you couldn't even smell the paint! Their guys worked most nights until at least 7pm and one full Saturday (they would have done another but we needed a break!). I do not know what time they showed up daily as we were not home. I would suggest that if you need the workers to be gone by a certain time in the evenings that you make that clear upfront so they can estimate how long the work will take under that timeline. Their crew was nice and considerate (talked quietly while we were home) and they seemed to work hard. Juan was knowledgeable and gave accurate timelines and expectations. The only reason I gave a B on responsiveness and punctuality was because we had to wait an extra day or two for our cabinet sample and because we usually had to wait on Juan a little longer than he estimated when he was coming over in the evenings. But really those weren't huge issues and we got what we needed in the end. Overall, we are so pleased with how the work turned out and we plan on using them when we remodel our master bathroom.
Description of Work: We hired Shaw to remodel our kitchen which included refinishing the cabinets, installing new appliances, installing natural stone backsplash, working around exisiting granite countertops, replacing lighting, creating custom cabinetry for a wine nook and running a gas line to new cooktop.

This was my first time for remodeling in my mone. I knew what I wanted, but wasn't sure if it was possible. Eric Shaw gave me an estimate on the day he came to view my home, which made it easy to make a decision after we discussed what I wanted versus what I could afford. Making my selection at the showroom was a great experience. Megan gave me great advice and helped with my decisions. The remodel began on the scheduled day and I can't say enough not only about the work that was performed, by Joe Champion and his crew, but also about the professionlism they all exhibited while here during the remodel. Thank you all. I love my kitchen!!!!!!!!!

Shaw Company completed our kitchen remodel right before Christmas. Eric Shaw was very professional and explained completely what his company would do, the time frame, and what we could expect. He listened to what I wanted done, made suggestions, and completed the contract in one sitting. The contractor, Joe Champion, came out after I had been to the showroom to select the granite for the counter tops, tile for the back splash, sink, and facuet. The staff in the showroom were professional, attentive, and helpful in making the selections. Mr. Champion reviewed the contract, took measurements, explained who would be doing the work, and answered my questions. Mr. Champion and his crew were prompt, courteous, cheerful, took care to protect my floors and cabinets during the demo and installation. They always answered my questions, concerns, and were quick to fix anything needing to be done. The work was completed within a week of the granite being ready. Mr. Champion and crew were aware of my plans to entertain family for Christmas and insured my kitchen was remodeled in the time frame I needed. I am extremely pleased with the workmanship and materials used to complete the contracted work. Mr. Champion made sure quality materials and finishes were used. He built a frame for a desk area himself to hold the granite counter top. He completed the frame by matching the stain to my current cabinets in such a manner my family and friends cannot tell it is an added on section. We would hire Shaw Company and request Joe Champion as the contractor for any future jobs without question.

Many things were done well. Hardy Plank siding installed quickly and well. Painting done well. Windows installed adequately, though, I had to mention to the installers to keep the weep holes clear. They had begun to cover over them. The front door was re-installed with hardware backwards. (i fixed it.). The workers didn't/couldn't read the instructions. The company laid tile in my back room. There was a 3-yr warrenty on the install and remodeling work. The tiles had no expansion room. Some tiles cracked when the house shifted. It took me months to get the repair done, though they did eventually honor the warranty. Staff were pleasant to work with, but some crew/installers were incompetent.

The house was vacant at the time the work was done and we were out of state while the guys completed the job. They did a great job and finished within the time we needed them to. There were a few miscommunications that were easily corrected (painting French doors, painting some of the other doors in the house that were not replaced) and performed in a timely manner. To be honest, I am shocked at some of the reviews on here. We would definitely use this company again; we love the look of our house and we feel that Juan and his crew did a fantastic job. We would not hesitate to give them our business again.
Description of Work: We received what we considered to be a very reasonable estimate for the following projects: 1. Removing mirrors from dining room wall, refinishing and repainting wall. 2. Cutting into drywall in formal living room and adding French doors to create a walk-through study. 3. Replacing and/or painting interior doors with white six panel doors and brushed nickel hardware; painting several exterior doors. 4. Removing trash compactor and creating new cabinet in kitchen.

We initially picked this company because we liked their showroom and my husband liked the tile selection that they were offering. They came out, looked at the area to be worked on and Eric gave us the quote on the spot and said it would take 7-10 business days to complete. We decided to go with them and paid half up front. After several weeks they said the tile was in and they could schedule the job. Eric came over with Richard (who said was the job supervisor) and Richard said it would take more like 10-14 business days. They were supposed to start the following Mon (this was the end of Aug). The first day they ran the carpet protector and a worker came with Richard. He showed him the job and was going to leave. I asked re the lock box so they could get into the house and he took the key and said he would set that up. They did the demo in 1 day and when no one showed up for the next few days I called the office. They said the plumber would be there the next day, that he had gotten hung up on another job. He came the day after and put in some of the new plumbing. What followed was several months of issues with communication (we would call the office with an issue and when we pursued it we would hear that the message hadn't been passed on or that the workers had no idea what we were talking about). Some of the workers were better than others, however we had problems with them changing things (like the design of the tile, and the size of the bench without asking us). They were good about allowing us to change the accent tile that we picked when the change in the design (their idea) resulted in a pattern that we didn't like. We had issues with some of their construction decisions (like cutting a niche in the wall that the shower shares with the bedroom and not putting anything in between the drywall and the mortar and tile-hope nobody tries to put a nail through that area). I frequently came home from work and had to vacuum and sweep up the mess from that day's work. We had broken tile in our driveway and paint on our porch. When we had Eric and Richard come out to look at the areas we had issues with they would say that it wasn't a big deal and wasn't it a great looking shower (the design is very nice and turned out well, however up close the craftsmanship is poor even to someone who doesn't know what they are looking at). We finally got to use our shower the week before Thanksgiving. 2 weeks later we had water coming from our dining room ceiling. They came out the next day and fixed the ceiling downstairs and the leak in the drain and since then we have been trying to get the grout to match and for them to fix all the other clean-up issues and poor workmanship. They came today to fix an area that still hadn't been grouted and to fix the tile that had been broken sometime in the last few days while they had been here working on things. The workers early on used our step stool which would have been fine except they left it covered with grout and paint. My husband bought another one and despite asking them to use the messed up one when they were repainting the dining room ceiling they used the new one (so now it has paint on it also). They also got spots of paint on the surrounding surfaces (the dining room table and chairs, kitchen floor, kitchen cabinets, and even my purse). Obviously they didn't bother to put up any kind of barrier when they were repainting the ceiling. The ceiling repair did turn out better then we had hoped at least. We have not paid the other half of the job and are probably not going to until it seems like we aren't going to have any more leaks. I joined Angie's List a couple of days after we hired them and was nervous when I saw the reviews that had been submitted, but I was prepared to give them every opportunity to make thing good so I could give them a good review. Unfortunately the issues with communication, the long delay in getting the work done, the lack of attention to detail, and the issues with fixing things that we pointed out as problems have made it so that I cannot give them a positive review. At this point we want things to be right but we also want to be done with them. 06/01/2014 Update: Approximately a year after we wrote them the final check we noticed water dripping from our dining room ceiling. After pulling the drywall off we discovered that it was coming from the master shower. Eric came out after we called them with the issue and it was determined that the shower was (again!) leaking into the dining room ceiling. The leak was small enough to take this long for the drywall to get saturated. The floor of our shower was removed and the liner and tile were redone. This part of the process didn't take more than a week or two. Fortunately we had extra from the job so everything still matched. Getting them to replace the ceiling took longer due to delays on their part and us wanting to make sure that the new floor didn't appear to be leaking before we put the ceiling back. While we are happy that they fixed the work without fussing about payment we wish that there hadn't been this issue in the first place. 09/2015 Update: Our renter called to say that there is water leaking into the dining room again. They have sent pictures and it appears to be in the exact some location as the previous leak. We hope this isn't the case but we will have to hire someone to figure out what is happening so we know if we need to call Shaw again. Hope it's something simple this time!

The design and the work was excellent. The finished product was commendable and I have recommended them to my neighbors. Everyone that has seen the finished product has been positively impressed.
Description of Work: This company took care of a remodeling job of the bathroom. They completed the tile, tub, a vanity (the drawer needs to be re-done), and a closet. They originally had agreed to put a window in, a new toilet, finish the plumbing on the vanity and the shower, and there are grab rails that need to be installed.

The work (demo) began on 10/01/12 and lasted almost one week. The following week no work was done because materials for the project were not in yet. I had been told the work would not begin until all materials were in. The company blames the project manager for starting the work too soon but that just means the company is unaware of the work going on. A second delay occurred when the wrong size tub was ordered. Throughout the project I had no idea as to when they would be finished and what days or times they would show up for work. My emails, and messages would go unanswered for weeks! The company would call me when a draw of funds was due. I have never dealt with any business that had such poor customer service and total disregard for the customer after the sale. I told the owner Eric Shaw that surely my project must have fallen through the cracks and was just not being monitored properly but he tried to tell me that everything was fine. The project was finally completed after seven weeks. After the project was almost finished, I went on Angie's List to check out this company, (something I should have done before I hired them) and found that my experience with this company is not out of the ordinary. Many of my frustrations and complaints are shared by others who have had the misfortune of dealing with this company. Based on my experience, I highly recommend you steer clear of this company.

It is unfortunate to have a project completed and an unhappy client. We typicallty dont start a project until all materials are in. Our people did start earlier than planned, and yes the wrong tub was shipped to the project. We did get the correct tub right away and the project was completed and looks amazing. We regret having anyone unhappy and continue to strive for perfection. We always finish 100 % and satisfy over 300 clients each year. The client postings on Angies list make up only a tiny % of our clients.

We were working overseas and decided to have our condo remodeled during our last year overseas. While we were in San Antonio over Christmas 2009, we received an offer from Shaw Painting and Remodeling in a Value Pak mailer. We checked them out with the Better Business Bureau (they had an A+ rating) and then arranged for Eric Shaw, the owner, to come to our home and give us an estimate. We were very pleased with the estimate and with Eric's ideas on the remodel. In fact we added the complete remodel to our master bathroom after the original estimate; this has proven to be a great decision as the space in the master bathroom was maximized and now has a much more open feel. The limited kitchen space was also maximized; this has proven to be a big plus for us. Meagan at Shaw's office was very helpful in coodinating various selections that we made, including tile, cabinet and paint color selections. Work began on schedule shorlly after we returned overseas. We were pleased with the Manager of our job, Randy, and all of the workmen that worked on our condo. They were all very accomodating. We were especially impressed with the quality of the tile work and the flooring. When we came back for a visit in March, 2010 we had a walk through inspection. The few items on the punch list were promptly addressed. Our experience was very positive; this has led to our daughter currently using Shaw for some remodeling in her residence.
Description of Work: We basically had our condo gutted. We replaced all the windows, floors (tile on the 1st floor, hardwood on the upstairs bedrooms), kitchen cabinets and fixtures (inculding a new kitchen island), granite counter tops, all cabinets and fixtures in the 2 1/2 bathrooms, removal of the finish on our ceilings and walls and their replacement with orange peel finishes, and complete interior painting.

HORRIBLE--dealing with Shaw Company and Eric Shaw has been a nightmare from start to finish. I just received notice from the subcontractor that did some of the plumbing work on my house--in May-June 2011--that he has never been paid by Shaw Company Painting and Remodeling or Eric Shaw. Pursuant to Texas law (Texas Property Code Section 53.052 and 162.001) this subcontractor can now place a lien on MY property because Eric Shaw did not pay him. This will likely cost me hundreds if not thousands of dollars in attorney's fees, lost time from work and general aggravation and stress. And, if this subcontractor pursues this fully under the law, I may now have a 'cloud' (hinderance) on title to my property should I wish to sell it or transfer it to my heirs. UNACCEPTABLE, MR. ERIC SHAW!!!! I'll give Eric Shaw a few days to get this settled; then it goes to the Bexar County (San Antonio) Texas District Attorney's Office along with my personal attorney. I WILL NOT have my life turned upside down any more by this company!!!

It is unfortunate to have to deal with this situation. It is more unfortunate that Member feels the need to post more "Hateful" energy on Angies list, prior to getting the facts. The fact is, the individual making a claim was not the individual who performed the alleged plumbing work at all. The plumber in fact was paid. The individual making the claim is a dis-gruntled former contractor trying to make money that is not due to him. We are IN FACT dealing with him and NO HOMEOWNER has anything to worry about. If Member had done his homework, he would know that it is IL LEGAL to lien a HOMESTEAD in texas beyond the 15th day of the second month following the last day worked on said property. Our company WILL NOT allow such a thing to happen. We DO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, like we DID in completing Member project. Member bathroom looks AMAZING!

We are completely delighted with all the remodeling and repair jobs done by Eric's fantastic trustworthy & reliable crew: Mr. Alain, Mr. Juan, and wonderful team at showroom Meghan & Mrs. Shaw. All work was done promptly and exactly as described, we only had one paint color and one tub style to correct but it was taken care of within 24 hours each time, no problem! In fact, we did not even demand those changes be made so swiftly but it was done anyway. The ceilings in our house were dreadful before - an amateur popcorn finish now replaced with a clean flawless finish that makes such a difference. Bathroom remodel had a lot of my custom touches that no one flinched at doing, plus the couple of changes we made along the way were done with a smile - I am completely in love with my new master bathroom, SO much more storage now - a huge shower niche, and cabinets are so well-made and gorgeous - so very pleased with new granite countertops and the oil-rubbed bronze fixtures are so elegant. The new shower in the other bathroom is just gorgeous with heavy tempered-glass door that makes the whole room seem larger. Probably our most favorite aspect of our work done with Shaw is an absolutely perfect match of a heavy sliding barn door with substantial iron hardware that slides from a dining room door snugly against our fireplace to keep kids' noise from the living room - it looks like it was there when the house was built, can't believe how beautifully it matches our existing log cabin pine paneling. I would say the price was very fair as we had limited time to get the work done this summer and didn't want to have to coordinate all the players ourselves - it gave us such peace of mind to just sit back and watch things get checked off as we expected them to be completed. Sincere thanks to everyone - if we get the opportunity for another remodel or must deal with some future repair, there is no question - we would call Shaw again.

Juan and his crew were great. They all knew what they were doing and knocked out the whole house extremely quickly. We were pleased with how even the crew was very professional. After the first day, my wife HATED the way the color looked. The guys fixed it the very next day with no hesitation or extra charge. We love the way our house turned out, and you can't even tell there were ever holes in the walls! Since our project was completed, we have friends getting their bathroom done with Shaw. We had Eric out last week to give us an estimate on remodeling our kitchen and doing our floors. We plan to sign a contract with them this week and look forward to seeing how our kitchen turns out!
Description of Work: We had our entire house painted, several huge holes in the walls fixed, and many other minor repairs. They will be starting our kitchen & flooring in the next couple of weeks.

Overall The finished bathroom and walls look fine but the project took too long and there did not seem to be anyone keeping tabs on where they were in getting the project done. The bathroom remodel took 2 months for @ 50 square foot room remodel. The water softener has never worked. The project manager showed up on site one time near the end of the project. That was his only visit and he asked for final payment before the project was complete. One of the subcontractors asked a neighbor for help with lockbox combination. When I asked Shaw to change the combination, they assured me they would but never did. Calls to the office on any subject yielded empty promises of returned calls from the absent project manager or no results at all.
Description of Work: The projects were: Bathroom remodel-removed breadboard tile sink with vanity. Repaired, textured walls, tiled and replaced bathtub doors, and resurfaced tub. Installed new toilet and vanity. Painted interior of house replaced patio doors. Installed water softener.

NOTHING NEW TO ADD FROM ABOVE. FROM START TO FINISH EVERYTHING WENT WELL. A COUPLE THINGS THAT HAD TO BE CORRECTED, BUT WERE TAKEN CARE OF.
Description of Work: WE HAD A WINDOW REPLACED IN BATHROOM. A COUNTRY TUB AND SHOWER STALL WERE REPLACED WITH A BIG WALK IN SHOWER WITH GLASS AND TILE BLOCK WALL. THE ENTRANCE WAS LEFT LARGE ENOUGH FOR A WHEEL CHAIR IF EVER NEEDED WITH HAND RAILS . THE FLOOR IN THE BATHROOM WAS TILED AND A GRANITE COUNTER TOP AND NEW SINKS AND FAUCETS, WITH A MIRROR AND LIGHTS THAT WE PROVIDED, INSTALLED. THE TOLIET WAS REPLACED FOR US. WE PROVIDED THAT ALSO. THE WORKERS WERE GREAT AND THE JOB WAS EXCELLENT.

Terrible and a living nightmare is all I can say.
Description of Work: Remodeled my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The job was to be completed by end of May. The job wasn't completed until the end of August and over budget. I would always have to call to find out if anybody was going to show up each day. They tore my kitchen apart down to the concrete and then it was over a month before they started working on it again. After they finally completed it and eom in May I asked to have a meeting with the owners and they would do no such thing. I then decided to let them finish the rest of the remodeling just to get them out of my hair. I have never delt with a company before that was so unprofessional as I have with this company. I would rather die than recommend this company. After they finished I had to call on my own electrician to correct some electrical issues. If I hadn't done that my house would have burned down. As far as I am concerned this company should not be in business.

Response from Shaw Company Painting & Remodeling
It is unfortunate to have anyone unhappy when so many people worked so hard to please people who are in fact difficult to please. Every issue was dealt with in a professional manner. This report was posted approximately three years after the work was complete.

My parents had received mailers from Shaw. They met him at the Home & Garden Show downtown, and shortly after, he visited the house. They liked his advice. He pressured them into going with him by offering a discount if they signed that day. My parents accepted the offer. The job took several weeks to complete, during which they could not use the kitchen. Flooring - a bad mixup: Shaw has a showroom in which customers can pick and choose flooring. Porcelain tile was selected from the wall that stated porcelain tile. The flooring sub-contractors came, pulled up the existing floor, and over a few days, laid down tile that looked like the chosen tile. After the floor was laid, my parents noticed the labels on the boxes stated ceramic tile, which is usually cheaper than porcelain. My parents complained, Shaw at first denied that the tile was ceramic (untrue), then claimed it is all the same and priced the same (also untrue), and refused to compensate for the mistake, even though porcelain tile was specified in the contract. (The subcontractors felt genuinely bad, they knew they were installing ceramic but did not know porcelain had been ordered). Shaw did offer to fix any damaged tile over several years, and did add grout sealer. NOTE TO SHAW: My parents were informed of Austin regulators that could have caused you serious problems, they chose not to cause trouble. Cabinetry - well done: The kitchen cabinets and counters were replaced by a family outfit out of Bandera or Pipe Creek. They turned out very nice. Granite countertop - foreman messed up: Formica countertops were replaced with granite. My parents selected the granite from a place Shaw uses. The granite subcontractor made measurements, including placement of the sink. The foreman told the subcontractor to move the sink over because the dishwasher would not fit, the subcontractor objected, but the foreman over-ruled him. The sink is now noticeably 3-4 inches out of place, and the subcontractor was correct, there was plenty of room for the dishwasher. Other work - not always professional: Other work included the installation of a tankless water heater, and updating plumbing and electrical. The work seems fine. My parents noted that they sometimes would wait all day for workers to show, and they wouldn't; however, they also overheard some workers complain that they would show up and residents would not be there. (TIP TO SERVICE WORKERS: It is becoming standard practice to call before you arrive, both workers and customers are happier.)My parents do not want to cause trouble, so they did not take any significant action against Shaw, but hopefully they understand the frustration.
Description of Work: General contractor who performed several services: refloored several rooms with (incorrect) tile, rebuilt several cabinets, replaced formica countertops with granite, replaced sink, updated electrical, plumbing and ventilation in kitchen and laundry room. This review is written on behalf of work at my parents. Some work is very well done, other work has some clear mistakes.

Every one of the above mentioned "minor" issues on this project were dealt with quickly and professionally. We even offered to replace the entire floor after our vendor substituted ceramic tile for porcelain tile, the homeowner declined. We even sgned and extended warranty statement drawn up by this customer despite the fact that their tile looks great. Some people are quick to make negative comments because that is human nature. When anyone reads this report , they will assume this customer recieved a poor job when in fact , this project looks amazing and many good men worked very hard to satisfy this home owner. We get a "D", thanks

The fellow showed up on time. They seemed kind of expensive. We were looking to do a bathroom remodel. However, that project got put on hold due to other things that came up. I would consider using them in the future, but I would definitely look at other companies as well--as I was not blown away by what they had to offer.

It is not a fair grading system when people who dont even use our service can post comments and affect our grade.

It was fine. It was a free estimate. Their price was too high. They walked the area that we wanted work done on and they drew it up some. They gave the quote right on the spot. They knew their stuff and we could tell they had been at it for a while. They were not able to respond right away. They were able to schedule us but it was way out and we would have liked for it to have been sooner but it turned out okay. We think they may have too much business. We would probably not get another quote because of the pricing.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Shaw Company Painting & Remodeling for bathrooms, floors, interior painting, lighting and some kitchen updates.

Things that really could have been better -I had to call on a regular basis to follow up on when I could expect the team to return to continue working - When following up on a defective window (not a service issue) the receptionist and other staff never seemed to know what I was talking about. My window was actually had been in for several days on one of my calls, and the staff member said 'oh, that who that is who that window is for'. -They did not cover my floors (or recommend that I do so, because I certainly would have) and the dust from the remodeling was ground into my grout. The site manager's response was 'you should be able scrub that out'. -They threw my baseboards away before determining if they could match them when the wall remodel was done. They couldn't (or at least didn't) so now i have two different baseboards, which are not joined in an aesthetic way. - I had simple columns placed on each end of the load bearing pony wall. Rather than mitred corners they put in columns with rough edges exposed. In my opinion that is sub-par work for a remodeling company. What they did well -Get financing for the job! -Explain the job scope -Have good sub-contractors. The electrician and the window installer were both quite good. -Preserve the paneling and moulding previously in place on the load bearing pony wall, maintaining the feel of continuity -Accommodate a change request I had during the remodel (shortened the length or the non-load bearing wall by 1 stud, in addition to the scheduled work of making it a pony wall) -Remove large debris daily It was the first time I had a major remodel done, so I was unprepared for the level of oversight that I know feel I should have paid to the details of the job before signing off.
Description of Work: Window replacement - no problems with this work, which was performed by a subcontractor. Interior remodel - remodel load bearing wall to pony wall, including reinforcement of load bearing beam and moving electrical. remodel of non-load bearing wall to pony wall

They did an outstanding work. They came in with an estimate and a survey of what needed to be done. We checked the reports and comments they had on Angie’s list and decided to use them. They showed up on time. The crew that came did an absolutely spectacular job. They got the right painter and picked up the colors we wanted. There was no damage or any dirt left behind. They came early and stayed till about six in the evening. They did very minimal damage to the plants and trees. The job was done very professionally. I did not have to call them back to redo anything. The guy did it right the first time. I would have no problem recommending them for painting work. I will definitely use them again. They were excellent and responsive. They were professional. Their price was very reasonable. Their charges were fair. They were punctual and did not waste any time. They were courteous and respectful of our property. They took care of the properly like it was theirs. I am very satisfied with them.
Description of Work: I used Shaw Company Painting & Remodeling to repaint the exterior of the house including the trims.
