Shaw Company Painting & Remodeling

I was very pleased with Shaw Company Painting & Remodeling and the work that they have done. Everyone that we had dealings with were very pleasant and professional. I'd like to especially acknowledge the personnel who actually performed the work. They were the best!

The Shaw Company gave me a kitchen that surpassed my expectations. The following example pretty much sums up my whole experience. After giving Juan our general contractor my final payment, he glanced up at the kitchen ceiling and was not happy with the texturing that was done to the area where recessed lighting was installed. Although I am a stickler for details, the texturing wasn't noticeable to my eye but it didn't sit well with Juan. He arranged to have the ceiling redone to his standards. These guys do quality work and stand firmly behind it. What more can you ask for. I can't help but to smile every time I enter my new kitchen!

Eric the owner came over to explain what his craftsmen would do and his promise that the work would be handled professionally and with courtesy. Everything that Eric promised was delivered. We are very happy with the results. Juan the foreman always checked on progress and any minor discrepancies were dealt with efficiently and again professionally. Outstanding work and reasonably priced!!!!

All of the work performed with the exception of the cabinet hardware they installed was a complete disaster. The granite on the bar area had to be removed and reinstalled because they did not cut it correctly at the angles, and it was not leveled. They fixed this but still is not leveled and you can tell it's not. The back splash which was marble and Onyx was installed poorly. Many of the sections had to be removed and reinstalled numerous times. Called another contractor to re-do the job. The ceiling where the lights were removed had to be re done 3 times and still did not look right. Called another contractor to fix it. The crown moulding was cut wrong, and not installed properly. Looked like it was caved in where it was cut. Called another contractor to fix it. I am deeply sadden that I have to give this kind of a review, and I am sorry that I had to go through this terrible experience.

I did not care for Mr. Shaw's attitude. He was quick to dismiss our ideas and tell us how he would do the job to his likes. I did not like my bathtub referred to as the "elephant in the room" and trying to talk us into getting rid of it. Mr. Shaw is definitely a salesman and was quick to make the job more than want we intended. I did like that they have a showroom and help with design for the project. We ended up hiring a company we felt more comfortable with.

Painting was well done. Some overspray on windows.

Called the company and got immediate response. Not only gave us an idea of what was needed but came up with excellent ideas for additional storage. Brittany in office was most helpful in picking colors and materials. Work was finished on time and is just perfect.

Some delays in getting the project started but once they did that competed the entire remodel in just 2 weeks.

I know they've had over 300 satisfied customers, and can't for the life of me figure out where we went wrong. There was so much miscommunication, or no communication, but they let me know it was my fault constantly. At least the foreman did. So many screw ups, that it got so frustrating for me, that while I was out of town, by daughter fired them and hired someone else to do the job right, only to have it turn out worse. I called Eric Shaw upon my return and we sat down and discussed the whole fiasco, he was understanding, looked over the problems, and said he would have the same foreman call and set up an appointment to come out and fix everything the way I wanted it. The guy did call and said he would personally come out and finish the job himself. He sent his workers out a couple of days after the date he gave me, and they finished up the work. There are a few things that still needed doing, but after the foreman let me know he wasn't making any money off this job, called me a liar on a couple of issues, I just paid them to get it over with, and will hire someone to fix the issues. estimate was for 11,650.00 I paid 1124.46 out of pocket. Total paid to Shaw 12,352.24 Total job: $13,476.70 New post 1/20/15 I can't believe you people have the nerve to lie...oh wait, yes I do. I have time and date stamps on those pictures and many more, including the one of the hole you knocked through my living room wall. The paint used to cover it up isn't the same, so now, I'll have to repaint the entire wall. . Eric Shaw, you think I pleaded with you? Seriously? I called you and asked you to come over so we could talk. You could have at any point agreed to bow out, but there was no pleading. That's laughable. I told you that day about your guys not covering the floors, and how much my rug cost..remember? My antique Persian rug? ....want to see pictures of that too? I can't believe how unprofessional your company has been from the beginning. I knew somehow you'd figure out a way to say it's my fault. To anyone considering hiring this company, look at the negative reviews and notice how it's always the customer's fault. I gave you the final payment just to get you the h*** out of my house. Everything was pretty much done except the shower door which came off of the tract the next day while taking a shower and almost sliced my foot off, and nicks in the tub that I'll pay for if Dan with Surface Tech will get call me back. And, you're right. You do your best to correct any issues with poor communication.

All the work went very smoothly. Project involved installing glass bricks in large window, converting separate shower stall to linen closet, removing garden tub & constructing tile shower with frameless glass surround, painting. All the work was very well done, the project well managed, the results exceeded our expectations.

Met Shaw Company at the san antonio home show, they seemed very impressive. we got contacts of several contractors and asked for quotes on a remodel. Shaw owner came out (very late) then came in with attitude. he did not seem interested in job at all. then when i started going over what we wanted and needed, he kept interrupting with his recommendations before i could finish my sentences. i would ask why he recommended and he just would answer , I'm a professional , i ve been doing this for a long time. he quoted, what we found very high..... "$70,000 and up" He quickly went on to ask for a deposit without even acknowledging what we wanted or needed! no quote, no blueprint, no drawing, nothing just ..."give a blank check and ill do what i want attitude" We didn't go with Shaw and ended using a much less expensive and more professional and more attentive contractor.

Every time we work with this company we see awesome results. The kitchen came together fairly quickly and turned out better than we imagined. The bathroom took a little longer than we expected, but the end result was well worth it! Every single member of the staff makes you feel like part of their family, we felt like they truly wanted us to love our home...and now, we definitely do!

We have done a lot of work over the years. We have been doing business with them for over 10 years. They had been many services. It was their value and quality of the service. It is just cool service, there is nothing that they cannot do, pricing is very fair, and always pretty with the outcomes.

I cannot say enough good things about The Shaw Company. They were extremely professional and eager to please. I enjoyed meeting Eric Shaw who seemed genuinely interested in providing the best solutions for my kitchen remodel. The design team was really fun to work with and made the process easy. Everyone that came to my home was professional and did excellent work. They went the extra mile to complete the job and even finished ahead of schedule. I would not only recommend The Shaw Company but I will use their services again without hesitation.

I was extremely pleased with my experience with Shaw Remodeling. The job was painless and the people were nice and very professional. My dream bathroom was worth every penny...I would definitely hire them again.

We had used a different company several years ago in our old house and we thought it went pretty decently, but after working with Shaw Company we've now seen what true professionals look like! I was initially anxious to get the work done as quickly as possible, but in the end it was definitely worth the wait. Everyone we worked with from Eric (the owner) to the office staff, and even the guys that worked in the house were honest and professional. The girls in the office kept me updated as often as I needed and I really appreciated that. My husband was really worried about the grout color in the shower when it first started going in, but the guys showed us some samples and let us completely change the color with no hesitation! Juan and his crew were SO respectful of our space, and they were such hard workers. Every aspect of this project far exceeded our expectations. We just can't recommend them enough! Both of my bathrooms and kitchen look absolutely stunning!

The Shaw Company did an outstanding job all the way around. They were very responsive from the first call to obtain a bid until the job was 100% complete to our satisfaction. They use their own employees who are focused on quality and customer satisfaction. We are very pleased and will use them again for our next project. Since they use their own employees we weren't waiting on contractors, they completed the job 2 weeks ahead of time. Prior to signing a contract we had a few questions about the design, the owner Eric Shaw came out with the superintendent and assured us that we would be complete satisfied. My wife and I highly recommend Shaw for any home remodeling project. They are true professionals.

I would NOT recommend the Shaw company. They do not show up on the date scheduled and the quality of work is sub standard. The only time you see the foreman is when you show him what needs to be done in the beginning and he is never there when the workers perform the job or when the job is complete. The date they promise to start working and when they will be finished is not passed on to the people who perform the work. The painters were four hours late both days and I had to show them what needed to be done (no foreman present). The painters said they didn't work weekends contrary to what the foreman indicated during the initial walk through. The individual who stained the medicine cabinets was told a different date then the date I was given when the job would be complete. I had to call the Shaw Company and the foreman multiple times to keep them on task and to complete the work in the time they promised. Bottom line, go with someone else.

****DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY*** The owner, Eric Shaw, is a smooth salesman, but you won't see much of him after you sign your contract, which is when we gave our deposit. He'll give you his cell phone number only to deflect every issues/problem to his right hand man, Juan. The company surely could not survive without Juan, yet he is spread too thin and is unable to spend any real amount of time supervising the job. Our start date was 6 weeks after we signed our contract, which was a 3 weeks later than promised. We had many delays due to multiple errors and had to provide constant supervision. Cabinets were incorrect five times, and the granite fabrication we received was not what we ordered yet was installed anyway. The company insisted on attempting to correct the granite (6 times), causing delays, but eventually replaced it at our repeated request. Shaw has some good subs, but evidently not enough to cover all of the jobs to which they commit. In the end, the job was done to our satisfaction, yet it wasn't without headaches. Our 4 week project took 3 months and is beautiful. Shaw also claims that they guarantee their work, however, when we called recently to have them come back for a repair, we were told they would come if we provided a review on Angie's List. The initial review was done, but they still didn't show when promised. Since our initial review, the company called and asked us to change our rating, again promising they would be available to us in the future, if the review was changed to a more favorable one. 12/30/13: We expected Juan to arrive at our house on 12/27 at 3pm, for a repair, but he didn't. I spoke to Maegan @ 3:15pm on 12/27 to check on his arrival. She said she would call Juan and call me back. Maegan never called back, nor did Juan show up, or respond to my text. Today, I called to follow up and Maegan put Eric on the phone. Eric refused to speak to me and said he would only discuss repair issue with my husband. While on speaker, Eric requested from my husband "man to man" to have me remove my reviews, as "it was costing him jobs and money". He told my husband that he would arrange for the repair, regardless of my review, and I'll keep you updated on that. After all, this is the purpose of Angie's List. And to Eric, if you would like to discuss this review, you have my number. 1/10/14: WARRANTY REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN DONE. ERIC SHAW, OWNER, REFUSES OUR PHONE CALLS AND ALL REQUESTS TO REPAIR ITEMS UNDER WARRANTY. DO NO USE THIS COMPANY!!!

We fully trust this company and almost all of this work was performed while we were out of the state. every time we returned the unit was in perfect order. The representation was quite professional and all the workers we met from time to time were most courteous and skilled.

We were very pleased with Shaw Company Painting and Remodeling. We had a flood that destroyed most of our first floor. We needed new flooring throughout. After another contractor walked off the job after finishing just a small portion of one room, we hired Shaw to come in and finish the job. We were very satisfied with their performance. They delivered exactly what was promised. Our floor was completed within a week and looks beautiful. We will be using them in the future for other remodeling needs.

We have lived in our home for over 20 years and decided it was time for a complete remodel of the master bathroom. The original shower and tub were removed, and the entire space was then converted to a beautiful, spacious walk-in shower. The large bathroom window was replaced using block glass to compliment the block glass used in the partition wall of the shower, and the flooring tile was also replaced. During the showroom design consultation, Shaw Company made the selection process so easy and convenient with a wonderful selection of tile, decorative tile accents, block glass, and bathroom fixtures to choose from. The work was completed by an exceptional team of courteous and skilled professionals whose work more than exceeded our expectations. We will certainly refer Shaw Company to our friends and neighbors and continue to use them for any future remodeling projects.

It was a nightmare from the very beginning. We tried to get them to take care of it without having to hire legal, but we have been forced to hire legal.

Shaw company came out and made a proposal, it seemed he came up with everything his fertile mind could think of to create a very large estimated bill. Things that we had not considered and didn't really want. Of course we had the final say but we were kind of turned off by his over zealous sales pitch. The quote for $20,000 didn't even include the things that he said we would be responsible for. He was very friendly, but he was overly aggressive in trying to sell his ideas of what he thought he should do, but we were looking for someone that would listen to what we wanted to do. The quote was pretty vague, it lacked specificity and left a lot of wiggle room for the contractor. He was a professional guy, this is his life work and he does a lot of jobs in San Antonio. He has one thing gonig for him that a lot of contractors don't, he has a place where you can go to see his work, we went to see the showroom and that was good, we liked that. He is very good at salesmanship and having the showroom and a place where people can go, that's good marketing.
