I had two separate 3 ton units that have been struggling for about 3 years. In an effort to delay the cost of replacemen I have been just re-charging the coolant when necessary. The upstairs unit just went out again so I decided it was time to replace. Since all of the bids I got were over $6000 for one system I decided to just do one and then do the other when it finally went out. SA Specialties quoted me $3900 for a complete change out system, heat pump, handler, and thermostat. After finally deciding there was no "catch" I went ahead and had them replace both units. They also put in another return for no charge and gave me a great deal on media filters. This was on a Friday so the first available time they had was Monday morning so they went ahead and sent a service tech out Friday evening to recharge the old unit so my family wouldn't have to suffer over the weekend. They showed up on time Monday morning and completed the job by about 2:00 with no mess. I highly recommend SA Specialties!

SA is great, and they do what they say. If they say there are going to be there, they are. We chose them because of Angie's List. They were prompt, on time, and courteous. We would use SA Specialities again.

Everything went well. A couple of hiccups but SA Specialities took care of everything by timely coming back to fix a wiring issue and replace the new thermostat with another new one (accurate temperature issue). My unit was 19 years old and figured we got our monies worth out of the old unit; it was time to replace. Overall, quite pleased with the results.

The installers showed up on time the next morning and worked like a well oiled machine. They all had different tasks in the install process and they did not skip a beat. I had to leave the house for a couple of hours and did not have any problem leaving them with full access to everything. I was entitled to a rebate from my electric company for my new, more efficient unit and SA Specialties processed all of the paperwork to facilitate that in a timely fashion.y ever

We highly recommend this company and are extremly pleased both with the work and especially the crew (Ray, Joe and James). Great work, guys! If you decide to use this company, be sure and ask for Richard who is one of their representatives. We had a some minor questions about the system and they came in persdon to answer our questions the next day. This is a superior comany in all aspects and were highly recommended to us by several satisfied customers.

I had a leak in my A/C, they came out and investigated and found the problem. They were very polite and nice. They provided very good service. I've had them come out a couple times for other service issues also.

Installed trane unit, complete job to include new thermostat. Two men came, checked the yard to see where they could unload the truck, unloaded and went right to work,, very professional. After the install I Had one item I wanted to see if it could be changed, I called, they came, they fixed. Great experience.

Due to the age of our system a few issues came up concerning the ducting system and an electronic control board for same but SA Specialties corrected everything to our satisfaction at a very reasonable cost. I have checked many places and no one offers the equipment and services that SA Specialties does. We were blessed to find them.

I love these guys!!! They're solid citizens, very patient and helpful, responded very quickly when I discovered a minor problem with the blower motor in the new unit. Their cost for the new unit was several thousand dollars lower than any other estimate from well-known companies in San Antonio. I don't know how they do it, but they do!

For what they say that they do they seem good. I'm looking for some more comprehensive work though. Their price is very good but I need complete duct work replacement, insulation replacement. They don't do those things.

We had several bids and it is hard to compare bids when everyone has a different solution for your problem. We felt like all of the bids were really high and we were being taken advantage of because we do not understand all of this HVAC stuff. Every other company said we had to replace our furnace, which is only a year and a half old. All of the other companies said we needed to replace the coils too but failed to disclose that since they were newer they could be converted away from the old freon instead of being completely replaced. We have used SA Specialties in the past and now for this bigger job. They are always honest, prompt and provided the best solution for the fairest price. They were responsive, efficient and respectful. I will never bother calling other companies for bids again. We are even going to get a $600 rebate from CPS for the insulation, making our total cost even lower. They know what they are doing. We got this work done for half of the lowest bid we received and one bid was triple. The other companies refused to even break down the bid so we could see where the expense was. Overall it went okay, but you get what you pay for. The systems passed inspection, but the quality of work was poor. The city inspector is not concerned with quality workmanship - just safety. The equipment installed is good quality Amana A/C and Heating and we have no concerns there. But the installation was rushed and workmanship is nothing to be proud of. For example: the compound they use to seal ducts to the units was slapped on, messy and joints we not completely sealed. One unit had leaks all around the back. They just did a sloppy job. When I called them on it, they came out to fix, but found a much more significant problem. One of the drain lines was running up-hill rather than down-hill and water from condensation was running into the drain pan. They used the same white sealer compound on my roof to seal the furnace exhaust stack. Just imagine how that looks when you have a black roof, shinny silver stack and white compound on your roof. They fixed it by scraping the compound off, so now I have chunks of white compound all over the roof - even after heavy rains. I'm also really disappointed with the sales person. Eric diffidently knows his stuff - but follow-up after the sales has been terrible. I had some very simple requests and asked three times on the phone and never received replies. Each time saying he would get me the information and it's coming on a month and still no reply. They could have made more money on the deal, but didn't follow-up. I would recommend anyone who uses them to just stay on them regarding the poor quality work.

I received 10 quotes and they had the absolute best price. Everyone was $1500-5000 higher for the exact same system. One company even told me that it was a fantastic deal and they didn't blame me for taking it. The two men that did the work cleaned up after themselves so well, you never would have known they were here. They also took time to explain a few details on the unit.

Everything went very well, workers were on time, completed all work, kept me informed as to what was going on and cleaned up after work was completed.

My upstairs furnance quit working during the night on March 5. When I took a look at things, I found that the unit was extremely old and most likely was original to the house. I needed to replace this system any way as the AC pretty much bankrupted me last summer. I had been given ballpark quotes of $8000-9000 to replace the system by two other HVAC companies but I thought that was rather high. I checked the HVAC advertisers on the newspaper website and saw that SA Specialities was right down the road from me. I checked their website and very surprised to see that they were running several replacement specials at excellent prices. I called and checked and they could have one of their reps come out the evening of March 6 in the evening. Doug arrived right on time walked through the entire process step by step and told me what they would do. It actually included a lot more than what I was expecting for the price (new outside unit pad, new drain pan, upgrading of the HVAC closet floor, 6" of R19 insulation for the attic) and I was waiting for the price to jump way up. I told Doug what I had seen on the website and what I was looking for. He told me that they had a special still on that was even better than what was in the add. I got a 16 SEER Lenox system (3 ton) with a new gas furnace adn everything else that we had discussed for $4998 installed. This unit also qualified for the next to top CPS rebate as well. They set me up for the install on Thursday between 8 and 9 AM. David and Rodger arrived at 8:02 AM. Their work was outstanding. They had everything changed out and going by a little after 1 PM. They found and fixed a couple of problems in my air return that would have contributed to my high electric bills and hot upstairs last summer as well as leveling up my downstairs outside unit. The insulators got here about 1 and were gone before 1:30. Everyone I dealt with was highly professional and did outstanding work. SA Specialities use there own employees to do the installs were some of the other companies in town use subcontractors. They did everything they said they would and more. They didn't charge extra for every little thing either. I am EXTREMELY satisified adn have found my HVAC service company here in San Antonio. I HIGHLY recommend them for service and replacement.

I have used SA Specialities several times.. I currently have a home repair policy with American Home Shield. SA Specialities are one of the companies associated with them. I have had thee service calls, all for separate issues. SA Specialities quickly diagnosed and repaired my problem immediately. One service call I lost my blower motor. As always it was a cold day, no heat.. I called AHS for a workorder and SA Specialities called be the next morning.. I explained what our situation was and a technician was at my door with-in an hour. On another occasion AHS sent me a different HVAC company to see why I had no AC.. The company that came out said I needed a new evaporator unit.. I was very uncomfortable with the diagnoses, as the repairman did not seem to know what he was doing.. I sent him away.. I called AHS for SA Specialties for which I had before.. My problem was not the evaporator.. It turned out to be another problem at the condenser unit outside.. Again problem solved/repaired.. On other services SA Specialties provided me with a great price if I wanted to replace my cheap HVAC unit . No pressure to buy, but kept this in mind if I changed my mind.. Overall we can count on SA Specialties to get the job done right the 1st time!

They were prompt, professional, courteous, reasonable in price and completed the workin the attic in July. The guys were very professional during one of the hottest months in San Antonio history and completed the work as scheduled.

They came through my home warranty company. I paid $75 for the service fee and they billed the home warranty company for the remaining amount. They were polite. They gave me a timeframe within which they were to come out. They also called me before they came out and they also told me who would be coming out. Their quality was good. They did the repair without complaining. I was very happy with them. I would use them again.

They did a very good job. I wouldn’t consider the job done by them as great, but they did what they said they were going to do. The only complaint that I had was that during the process of replacing the air conditioning system there was a lot of dust and other stuff that got kicked up and spread around the house. That was a bit of a problem for my wife. Other than that, I think they really did a pretty good job. I think I would use them again in the future.

I would just like to say that SA Specialties is a very Outstanding Company. When I first called for an estimate I was impressed with this Company. I told them what I wanted and I actually talked with the Owner (which is unusal) He explained to me the different options etc. An appointment was made for Phillip to come out and give me an estimate. He went over the different system options and I felt no pressure selling at all. We reviewed my options and decided on a system. Phillip answered all my questions and we set up the Installation date. The A/C installation crew consisting of Andy and Jason arrived on the 16th of December and the work was started and completed in a most Outstanding manner. I could not believe the proffesionalism of these two people. They worked together and independently. They did not waste time or take a lot of breaks. True professionals for sure. They were both experts in their field and answered any questions that I might ask. They were so very careful taking out the old system from the Attic and layed protective covering on our floors etc. They insured the complete outside area was cleaned up and all of the replaced unit was hauled off. This company is so Great that I had my Carrier Contract on a 5 Ton unit transfered to SA Specialties for Maintenance and Parts. I want to thank Jason, Rose and all the individuals who work for SA Specialties. I highly recommend this Company to anyone looking for Air Conditioning. Rich

They did a good job. The technicians were knoweldgable and were here right on time. I'm happy with their services.

I RECEIVED THREE OTHER ESTIMATES THAT WERE CONSIDERABLY HIGHER. THEN I CONTACTED SA SPECIALTIES. THERE SALES COORDINATOR DOUG CAME AND GAVE ME A MORE REASONABLE QUOTE THAT I COULD LIFE WITH. I PURCHASED A TRANE 13 SEER COMPLETE AC/HEATING UNIT WITH A NEW AIR INTAKE FOR $4372. THE TECHNICIANS ( DAVID/ART/JOSEPH)CAME OVER AND REMOVED THE OLD UNIT AND INSTALLED THE NEW IN ONE DAY. CONSIDERING THEY WORKED IN A HOT ATTIC FOR SEVERAL HOURS THEY WHERE EXTREMLY POLITE AND DID A PROFFESSIONAL JOB. THE UNIT HAS WORKED GREAT THESE LAST FEW SUMMER MONTHS. THEY ARE NOT ONE OF THE FANCIEST COMPANIES AROUND WITH NICE TRUCKS OR UNIFORMS , BUT THEY GAVE A GOOD PRICE ON BRAND NAME UNIT AND PROVIDED GREAT SERVICE. THANK YOU SA SPECIALTIES.

After getting estimates for the replacement of our AC/heating system (2 ACs and furnace) from 2 other companies, we contacted SA Specialties for a third. The 2 other estimates were approximately $16,000 and $15,000 respectively, so we were pleasantly surprised when the estimate (same brand and models) was $10,300. The price was guaranteed (not true of the others which included unspecified additional charges for any alterations to structure) and included 1450 sq ft of blown insulation and the first year of the company's preventative service agreement (2 inspections/service). Doug Nentwich, Sales Coordinator, who provided the estimate was the consummate professional and there was absolutely no "hard" sell. He anticipated installation in approximately 1 week but was able to schedule it on the 3rd day following the estimate. We were told that the technicians would arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. and complete the work in 1 day. The installation technicians (Ray, Chris, Eddie, Anthony and Thomas) arrived at 8:15 and completed the work at 2:00 p.m. They were professional, courteous, efficient and answered all of our questions. At the end of the job, they cleaned up everything and even vacuumed. This company's pricing, quality service and exceptional employees are impressive and we highly recommend SA Specialties!
