Upadate: 8/31/23 They had the new parts overnighted to them and showed up the next day to install. Fingers crossed that we won't have any more problems. I give them credit for their effort, but am disappointed with our Goodman air conditioners. Thank goodness everything was still under warranty.

Terrible. Brand new unit not even year old was blowing hot air. We have contract for 10 yrs services, labor and parts. Tech that came out was chit chatting with my wife about personal life instead of getting work done. We were also charged for them coming out on top of still paying for a supposed new unit not even a year old. If I knew this is how they are then I would not have chose them to buy a new unit from. Bad business my grandfather would say. Would not recommend this company to anybody.

This one of the worst companies I have had the displeasure doing business with. Came and installed a new AC system on my home on 02JUN2021. The first day after the install and the technicians left, I could not get the AC fan to stop running. I discovered that the technician had disconnected the fan wire from the back of the thermostat. I was able to reattach the wire and fix the problem. They sent out a technician on Monday, 09JUN2021 to check the install and the technician told me they did a great install!! Three days later my new AC was not cooling. Called them early on Friday morning AM and they said they would send a technician out on Monday. For four days my wife and I sat in a house that got up to 80 degrees. My new AC unit would run from 2:00PM until 9:00PM non-stop because it could not cool down the house. The technician came out on Monday and determined that the install crew was going to have to come out and do a fresh install because he could not get the temperature of the Plenum from 63 degrees down to 59 degrees as was required for the system to run efficiently. It is Tuesday and I was told the crew would be to my house in the afternoon. It is 4:00 PM and I am still waiting. It also concerns me that no supervisor has called me to say that they are so sorry that my wife and I have had to live in a home where the temperature is 80 degrees and that they will make sure that this situation will be remedied quickly. Stay away from this company..... UPDATE: 14JUN2021 Sent technicians out and they said there was condensation in the line so, they had to evacuate the system (remove the freon and pull a vacuum) and then recharge the system. I was initially told they would be at my house between 4:00PM and 5:00PM. They did not arrive until 6:00PM. They left at 9:20PM and said the problem was fixed. UPDATE: 16JUN2021 Problem not fixed. Still 80 degrees in my house. Neil the part owner calls me and says they had a brainstorming meeting and they think it is a piston (wrong size) and they had one overnighted and the crew would be out in the morning to install and fix the problem UPDATE: 17JUN2021 Crew arrived at 11:00AM. Replaced piston that was thought to be the problem. Found another problem: There was a big hole in the furnace (SA Specialties installed) that was sucking attic air into the plenum and pulling hot air over the evaporator coil reducing its ability to cool. This should have been done correctly by the original crew that installed the system….it was not. And remember the Technician that came out on the 14th told me that the original crew had done a great install!! Called SA Specialties on Thursday and they did not return my call till Friday. I am now dealing with both owners of this company who told me that they spent too much time at my house and wasted a lot of their crews’ time. Finally got them to agree to come out and replace the Plenum (Air return can) and seal off the Intake air chase and the furnace correctly. This should have been done at the initial install. Would not be able to send someone until the 28th of June…..almost 4 weeks after they installed my AC system. UPDATE: 20JUN2021 Had another AC company come out and check my AC install. They recommended that; 1) Have return chase sealed 2) Replace the return can SA Specialties DID NOT seal the air return can sufficiently. They did not do a good install. It has been almost three weeks since they installed my AC system and it is still not cooling my home. UPDATE: 28JUN2021 Crew sent out to replace Plenum (Air return can). They were supposed to be here between 1:00PM and 3:00PM. Showed up about 3:30. And another thing about this company……they never wear protective covers on their shoes…….they just come in and out of your house in the rain, sunshine and just track stuff all through your house. They also use YOUR tools. The two guys that arrived to install the new plenum were waiting for another guy to bring them a saws-all. I gave them mine (and blades) so they could finish the job. Oh yes, I even had to supply them an extension cord. It is 5:00PM now and there is no telling how long it would have taken the other guy to get here!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS AC COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERYONE I talked to (Robert, Ruby, Rose, Albert, Chris, Ray) were very attentive to my needs. My original HVAC was over 20 years old and very inefficient. Robert gave me a bid with several different choices. I selected the RUUD since that's what I had originally. SA Specialties arrived 10 minutes early and waited outside until the agreed upon arrival time! They were pleasant and even offered to share their pizza with me for lunch! The entire replacement took about 5 hours including all the cleanup. All the men were professional and made sure I understood how to operate the unit. I am VERY pleased with their work and the price.

On September 7, I requested a service call from SA Specialties, due to a breakdown of our AC unit. We bought said unit from them, back in 2014 and, overall, have been very pleased with their services. However, that drastically changed and, as a result, I am filing this grievance to bring awareness to what I consider to be an extremely delicate and potentially dangerous situation for future SA Specialties’ customers. The service technician arrived at about 7:15 pm, after calling me at 6:46 to ask, “do you still need service?”, without identifying himself (first red flag). Once I opened the door, he stated, “Your thermostat is not working”, to which I replied, “Yes, it is”. With a visibly sarcastic smirk in his face, he repeated, “Your thermostat is not working”. “The thermostat works just fine”, I said. He proceeded to ask where it was, all the while dismissing my remarks with a clear negative attitude. At that point, I made a decision not to let him proceed with the service call and asked him to leave. As I reached back for the front door, he said, “You’re acting stupid”. I asked him to repeat and he added, “You heard me”. I asked for his name and, with a very loudly and (what I assessed as) threatening demeanor, he replied, “RAUL GONZALES. You better capitalize it!” While still on my driveway (for more than five minutes), I called the company to speak to a manager. Ruby, who was very professional in spite of my frustration, triggered by the situation, informed me that it would be “first thing in the morning” when a manager would contact me, to which I agreed. (Despite her assurances, I received no such call.) In a time when we are encouraged to act when faced with suspicious behavior (“when you see something, say something”), consumers in general can find themselves in a very vulnerable situation as these service providers have access to your personal information. This vulnerability could easily translate into jeopardy, plain and simple, especially when the customer is a single female, elderly, disable or unable to defend themselves, if confronted and intimidated by people like him. Aside from the fact that this was the epitome of the lowest, poorest customer service that I have ever experienced, I feel compelled to set forth this grievance, as a warning for anyone considering doing business with this company in the future, and thus getting RAUL GONZALES as their technician sent to the privacy of their home. On that note, and for what it’s worth, up until this situation arose, I believed that SA Specialties had an overall good service, manifested in my 3-plus years of satisfactorily dealing with them –David, Roy, Eric and phone reps-. But when you encounter such a volatile situation in less than two minutes of interaction, like I did with RAUL GONZALES, whom I had never met before (EVER!), it clearly shifts your paradigm, which leads to a bad taste in your mouth. Definitely, a bad apple.

Response from SA Specialties
Raul called the homeowner, he identified himself as Raul from SA Specialties and asked if the homeowner still needed service. As a courtesy to our customers we call ahead to verify the homeowner still needs a service technician out to their home for service. Homeowners tend to cancel service for numerous reasons. After introductions at the home our first question is where is the thermostat, the technician needs the system to be on so we can diagnose the problem. In some cases the thermostat stores codes that can tell us what is wrong with the system. Raul never indicated the thermostat was not working, he had not even gotten to the thermostat yet. The homeowner insisted that we didn't need to look at the thermostat, that the thermostat was not broken. Raul asked 3 times where the thermostat was that he needed to see the thermostat (to properly diagnose the system), the homeowner finally told him it was upstairs and Raul began going upstairs but the homeowner shouted there is nothing wrong with the thermostat and Raul turned and in frustration said do you want me to fix this thing or not. The homeowner said, "no I want you to leave." Raul turned and came back downstairs, the homeowner then stood in front of the door completely blocking Raul's exit until Raul asked "Have you ever heard of false imprisonment" at which point the homeowner finally stepped aside and let our technician leave his home. The homeowner asked Raul for his name and Raul spelled it for him. Raul went to his van, called into the office for his next dispatch and then left which took approximately 5 minutes in the driveway. We called and set up appointment for the next morning. Roy went to the thermostat, turned the system on and diagnosed a bad blower motor. We then replaced the blower motor.

A technician provided us with their seasonal promotions and we opted for the higher end unit from that list. I asked the technician to put us on their schedule ASAP and he said he could have a crew start on it the following morning, but rushed me to give him a financial plan or threatened to fill the slot for the following morning with someone else. I made it clear to the technician that I wanted to put the AC unit on my credit card because I wanted to earn rewards points for the large purchase. I told him that my credit card didn't have an allowable balance large enough to cover the entire purchase. That's when the technician recommended using their 0% financing plan (offered on their website). He assured me that I could pay it off at whatever rate I wanted to and this was the best course of action for me to be able to get the credit card rewards points that I wanted. I applied for their financing (which required a credit check) and was approved immediately. The financing company then sent me info on a credit card that they were going to send me to pay for my purchase. I immediately contacted the SA Specialties technician, confused because he recommended this method of payment to me because he knew I wanted to use my own credit card. He then casually said to me, "oh, I think you'll have to do a balance transfer if you want to put it on your own credit card." My jaw dropped. I took am irreversible hit to my credit score for this, all so I could call the fanancing company up 5 minutes after I was approved and explain that I was mislead into thinking their financing option was different than what it actually is. SA Specialties wasn't willing to offer anything to compensate for their mistake and barely offered an insincere verbal appology only because I'm sure they still wanted our purchase. They left a horrible impression on us! We ended up going with a different contractor and have absolutely no regrets about it. My advise, value quality over quantity and go with another company other than SA Specialties, even if it does cost a bit more. Quality customer service goes a long way, and that is something that SA Specialties is seriously lacking.
Description of Work: We needed a new AC unit. SA Specialties bragged about the volume of units that they sell in this area and used that as a reason for why they offer such affordable units. They also said they do their installs in 4 hours or less. That raised a big red flag because everything I've read about new AC unit installations, emphasize the importance of hiring companies that do not cut corners and do quality, thorough installations (which usually take longer than 4 hours to do right). Seems like this company values quantity over quality.

We found that this homeowner had applied for financing online on their own. Then she stated to us that she wanted us to put it in and charge her credit card $5000 then wait for the rest [Member Information Removed] the payment. We explained we are not a bank and we do not finance on our own. This is why we offer financing through Synchrony Bank, which is the company she applied through on line.

Their price is the best. Their service is excellent. Their follow up is excellent. Their crews are very pleasant, clean and efficient. I feel great about the workers. They've been really really good. I had four or five companies bid on the job, and their sales guy was really great too. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, I had an application, so I asked people to make recommendations. They were great! Fast and efficient. They even had an inspector come out and check the work. We had a RUUD system put in and it was less then $5K. They were great! They were running a special before the hot weather came in, so if you took advantage you got a good deal. However, even now I see them advertised and it is not that much more. It isn't even just that you get a good system for a good price, our previous system wasn't put in correctly - they wouldn't come out and fix it. It did not have the correct shelving. SA redid everything - they redid the entire shelving and had the inspector come out. I have never seen anything like it. I am 54 years old, this is out 2nd home and our 4th system and I am really impressed. I highly recommend them. They do larger commercial and residential systems. They also helped us get a rebate from our electrical company. They filed the paperwork for us, and we got back $300. They were even 1/2 an hour early, and now days it is like pulling teeth just to get someone to come out. It feels great, and in San Antonio is it HOT! I highly recommend them. There was one guy did have a little bit of an attitude, they came a little early, and I was dealing with my son who has a disability. One guy kind of held it against me, but it would not be worth holding it against the whole company. He could have just been having a bad day. The guy who came and gave an estimate was awesome. We have a lot of big names over here and they are rip offs. They come out and don't know what they are doing - they want to find all kinds of things wrong and to set you up on a plan. SA Specialies has these guys running for their money! They don't even advertise the fact they will file the rebate for you, and they just did it for us! They should advertise this!

The technicians arrived on time and completed the work in under 4 hours. The office took care of all of my paperwork, including submitting the 10 year warranty information and my CPS rebate. I consider that exceptional service. SA Specialties was the lowest of the 3 bids that I received by an overwhelming amount, but I don't feel like I paid for a cheap system. I did my research on a single stage vs. 2 stage system, the various SEER ratings, as well as the brands of AC and heat pumps that the different companies used. SA Specialties did not try to upsell me on things that would drive up the cost. For example, one company tried to sell me a attic tent for $250, stating I needed that to keep cold air from escaping into my attic. When I asked SA Specialties about this they told me I could buy one on Amazon for less than $50 (which I confirmed!) and that they don't like to nickel and dime their customers with things like that. Now I have a better idea of what you should really pay for an AC system. The question is not why is SA Specialities so much lower, but why in the world are the other companies so ridiculously higher! If you want to pay thousands (and I mean thousands!) more for the same type of equipment, and include needless bells and whistles, go ahead. But you don't need to.
Description of Work: I had a complete AC equipment change out. I replaced a 14 year old system, which was still running, but was on borrowed time and which 3 different technicians had strongly suggested I consider replacing. The new system was a high end 4 ton 17 SEER 2 stage AC system.
